Israeli Palestinian man to appeal rape-by-deception conviction

The lawyer for a 30-year-old Palestinian married father of two who has admitted in a plea bargain to rape by deception said Wednesday he will appeal his client's sentence, which was handed up Monday.

"Eighteen months in prison is too much," said Adnan Aladdin. He is representing Saber Kashour, a Palestinian living in east Jerusalem who admitted pretending to be a single Jewish man before having sex with an Israeli woman.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this post inaccurately characterized the nationality of a man who admitted in a plea bargain to a charge of rape by deception. He is a Palestinian resident of east Jerusalem, which Israel has occupied since 1967.

This is absurd. Racism.. Its her fault for being so easy, not his fault.... If every man got accused for rape for saying something he is not, half the men in the world would be in jail..

Absurd! I have never heard something so silly. So, she would have been unwilling to sleep with him, if he was an Arab? I never heard of someone reward for being racist. Perhaps, she would not jump into bed with a guy so easily and she would not have this problem. This makes me glad to be an American, where the judge would have laughed in her face if she would bring up this absurd lawsuit.

If at all this is similar to the numerous cases in my country where especially during night virgil where men go to sleep at a funeral and women sleep at home and other men sneak out and go to the houses of those men that are spending at the funeral and go and pretend it is the husband making love to his wife and soon after making love the wife realises that it is not her husband she was making love to then I think this can be considered to be rape not simply that the lady realises that the man is simply not of the race she thought he was then please spare me that by all means that can not be rape.
