CNN iReporter Lulis Leal sent photos of this New Jersey billboard that she spotted while driving into New York City this week. “It actually upset the group of people in my car," she said.

Militant atheists are, socially and psychologically, fundamentalist zealots with an organized "church". For proof, look at their intolerant and rather silly comments on internet sites like this. They give new meaning to the word "Troll".

Oh yes it has been atheists that cram stuff down people's throats. I wonder if anyone even cared if the sign on the other side of tunnel expressed a Christian point of view. I don't think anyone would religious or atheist.

I would like to know where you have proof of violent atheists who are using force to express their views. I can point to numerous militant religious organizations but can't seem to find an atheistic one.

@Spiffy – Well, let's see. There was Lenin in the 1920s. He was pretty violent. There was Hitler in the 1940s, Stalin and Mao in the 1950s, Pol Pot in the 1960s, the Kim family in North Korea pretty much since the 1950s, then there are smaller scale militant atheists like the two that attacked Columbine highschool a little over a decade ago. That's quite a few.

@Ryan in Michigan. This is just silly. Hitler and Stalin also had a mustache but that is not to blame. Religious fundamentalists act in the name of religion. Not one of those you mentioned, no one acted in the name of atheism. You can't act in the name of the absence of something. Atheism is not some sort of a belief system. It is the refusal to believe in something. It is actually the religious who makes the choice of believing rather than the irreligious who just doesn't make that choice. So please, get over that childish Hitler/Stalin argument

Don't be silly, para. He was refuting the nonsensical claim that these guys did bad things because of atheism, by pointing out that some of them were NOT atheists.

    • @para -

Sorry, para, I directed that at the wrong person.

I'm sick of people blaming atheism on things that have nothing to do with atheism, especially when the people doing the bad things share the same religion as those who are trying to claim the bad things were done because of atheism. Hitler had some pretty screwed up beliefs, but they were based on a Catholic upbringing. I don't give a flying fig if some people don't believe Catholics are true Christians, but they do believe in the divinity of Christ, which makes them true Christians. In fact, there wouldn't be Protestantism if it weren't for Catholicism, so anyone who believes Catholics aren't true Christians need to either realize that their own beliefs are based on utter nonsense, or get over themselves and accept Catholics as one of them.

So if us Christians can't display trees in our shops and can't use the word christianity in our shops then why can atheists do this? I respect your choice but frankly you're being childish if you really think that this is going to make any Christian say "BY GOLLY HE'S RIGHT LET'S DROP OUR CHOICE!' Have a nice life guys.

  20. Jules: Jesus lover

First of all I love God and believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. And I do sin, everyday.
I understand how believing in a "magic man in the sky" sounds crazy, but really not believing is foolish. God is always there, He has no beginning or end, and He loves us more than we can imagine. He loves everyone, atheist especially, the least we can do is love Him back. We are His amazing, complex, beautiful creation. How is there no Creator when you look around and see the beauty and complexity of this universe! This God is unfathomable. Us humans, Christians included, try to explain and understand God. This is impossible for us. So don't even attempt at explaining God with science. He is above anything we know about. Outside of time. But just keep in mind that this amazing, unfathomable God loves YOU, even if you don't believe, you will never stop Him loving you.
But this almighty, wonderful loving God has a price for sins. He judges justly. When we are sinful, He will punish us at judgment day by death and sent to hell. Now this is scary, for everyone, because no matter how hard we try it is impossible for us to be perfect. It is in our nature to be sinful. Sin is against God's nature, so whoever argues that God created sin is wrong. We created sin all by ourselves. Now you wonder why God would let humans sin? Well the reason we have sin is because God gave us CHOICE!!! We can choose to do right or wrong. If God didn't want us to sin He could just control us and make it so we weren't free. We would be God's little puppets if He forced us not to sin. But then one night everything changed.
God sent His only son to earth. Emmanuel. God with us. God walked with man on Earth in the form of Jesus. Jesus was perfect, the only perfect person ever to walk on Earth. He wasn't rich, He wasn't treated well. He was born in a barn, was friends with fishermen, ate with sinners and murderers, and He loved every one of them. All this time He knew the real reason He was on Earth. He knew one day He would be betrayed by His friend and arrested. He knew that to fulfill God's plan to save mankind He would have to die. Die a very painful death. A death by Crucifixion. This all happened. He was nailed to a cross by His hands and feet, and died.
Now just wait, this may seem pretty weak, but it was all God's plan. This is the most important thing to learn:
Jesus died for me, for you, and for every single person on Earth. God knew none of us could get to heaven on our own, so He sent His son, His perfect son to take our place. Jesus died for our sins, so we didn't have to. We no longer have to die for our sins. This is GOOD NEWS!! Jesus paid our ticket to heaven. Now we can live forever in heaven with our Father and Savior.

Christmas is the holiday Christians celebrate for the reason that our savior came to Earth, to save us from our sins. If you don't celebrate for that reason, then it's not called Christmas. Call it the Holidays, or call it Solstice, but Christmas holiday is to celebrate the birth of our savior. Please don't disrespect it even if u don't agree with it.
So I invite you to invite Jesus into your life and live for Him, it's the least we can do for all he's done for us. Trust me, it makes life a lot more meaningful.
