Harry Potter and religion

Danielle Tumminio is a Yale University lecturer, Episcopal priest, and a regular here on the Belief Blog. Recently she spoke with CNN's Kyra Phillips about the connections between the "Harry Potter" series and faith.

You can read more about Tumminio's take on Harry Potter here My Take: Why we're drawn to Harry Potter's theology.

By reading the comments on this Blog it seems very obvious to us that all the foundations of the earth out of course (Psalms 82:5). For a better understanding of this scriptural verse we invite you to read the latest article ‘CNN Belief Blog ~ Sign of the Times’ listed on our website http://www.aworlddeceived.ca

A number of people that have written to respond to this article have spoken of the interpretation of the Bible, which is the number one problem in this present world as the Bible itself teaches us that no prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20). Only few people (Matthew 7:14) are able to understand the Bible and as long as mankind remains separated from God, the Word of God will remain a mystery.

Mankind in his natural state is unable to understand the Bible and unable to receive the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1 Cor. 2:14).

There is a natural body and a spiritual body (1 Cor. 15:44). The only thing that separates the Natural body from the Spiritual body is the Baptism of Repentance (Mark 1:4). To repent means: to change spirits and to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan, whose spirit mankind is of (Luke 9:55), unto God (Acts 26:18). This is not an interpretation. Many people search the Bible for in them they think they have eternal life, but when we bring them the Scriptures they don’t believe us (John 5:38,39). Confused? There is no need to be confused any longer. For a better understanding of the mystery of God we invite you to read all the pages and articles of our website http://www.aworlddeceived.ca

So, before mankind will be able to understand the Word of God, mankind requires to be converted and transformed by God (not by any religion) and only then mankind is able to understand the Bible, as it is God (John 1:1).

All of the other pages and articles listed on our website explain how this whole world has been deceived as confirmed by the Word of God in Revelation 12:9. The Bible is true in all things and is the discerner of every thought and the intent of the heart (Hebrews 5:12).

SoundOfForest writes; “@Muneef, uniting religions is not logically possible even if you become a Hindu who refuse to think anything deeply. Religions are not that complicated. It's either trusting the atonement of Jesus or one's own good work. Outside of the saving faith in Jesus, any religion makes little difference from each other.”

Christianized Religions are the many Wives of Jesus Christ and these religions have their Mother Being the RCC and a New Player of Religion is Their Mother’s Uncle the CCC, the Mother’s Brother, the Chinese Catholic Church.

All other religious Embolisms outside of Christianity are fruited for the common welfare of those less fortunate in not being “touched” by Christian Virtuosos.

      Who said uniting religions?
All I said is that the many branches of a religion should unite into one faith one religion with out any uncontrolled branches piping up like mushrooms...
      -How many Branches in Islam?
      -How many Branches in Christianity/Catholics?
      -How many Branches in Judisem?
One minority of any group can easily make any criminal act towards which might the whole lot be blamed for it since each orthodox religion has no major control over it's multiplying branches of faith...

    Are we heading towards eating each other;
    Middle Ages
Historical instances of widespread cannibalism are most often connected to extreme social upheavals, such as drought, plague and war, which result in devastating famine. For example, reports of cannibalism were recorded during the First Crusade, as famished Crusaders reportedly fed on the bodies of their dead opponents following the Siege of Ma'arrat al-Numan. Amin Maalouf also discusses further cannibalism incidents on the march to Jerusalem, and to the efforts made to delete mention of these from western history.

Horrific global food crisis is looming
    26.04.2011

In case you haven't noticed, the world is on the verge of a horrific global food crisis.  At some point, this crisis will affect you and your family.  It may not be today, and it may not be tomorrow, but it is going to happen.  Crazy weather and horrifying natural disasters have played havoc with agricultural production in many areas of the globe over the past couple of years.  Meanwhile, the price of oil has begun to skyrocket.  The entire global economy is predicated on the ability to use massive amounts of inexpensive oil to cheaply produce food and other goods and transport them over vast distances.  Without cheap oil the whole game changes.  Topsoil is being depleted at a staggering rate and key aquifers all over the world are being drained at an alarming pace.  Global food prices are already at an all-time high and they continue to move up aggressively.  So what is going to happen to our world when hundreds of millions more people cannot afford to feed themselves?

Judaism and Islam = serious, but partial attempts to reach the true God. Some misunderstanding on God
Hinduism = wild imagination, self-defeat, permanent mass slavery
Buddhism = humble attempts without real substance, inability to install justice
atheism = mass murder, worship of self, blasphemy
All other religions = no logic
Christianity = only true religion with the Divine Savior's forgiveness and salvation, with love and justice

Are we talking about God or about Religion here? You should be calling for man to believe in God the God of Jews,Christians,Muslims and any other who believe in him...rather than talking about Religions that got divided among it self into many...calling any to believe of a Religions will confuse him to run away and become atheist or Hindu or Buddhist to avoid complications as to how the Church of Jesus (saws) is divided among it self into many branches and Bible Books...then the Islam of Muhammed (saws) how it is divided into many branches although one holy book but different readings, understandings, and very few have changed into a different made book or as a discreet additional book to follow other than the Quran....!

Honestly I think we ought to first start uniting beliefs into one form....meaning ...Christians all to become on one belief and Bible....Muslims to become on one Islam and no branches only then we might find peace since by the way it is now...any minority branch can make an criminal act under the name of Christ or Islam then the whole has to suffer by such act when the differences are very wide in between all branches of each Religion...!?!

Just curious, but how would you even begin to differentiate a fantasy about God from a 'genuine' belief about God?

Free, there are only two religions in this world. Acknowledging God's truth by trusting in Jesus alone or trusting in self's work merit. Apart from the saving faith in Jesus, the world religions make little difference from each other. That's why de-christianized post-modern secularists make fun of anything.

Jesus said, "If you do not believe that I am He(God), you will indeed die in your sins. If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep(people)." Still, just because you believe this doesn't make it a fact. Another important fact that many people who have differing religious beliefs or no beliefs at all, still are not worried about what you believe. If I made the same religious comment about my religion being better and more right than yours, I'm sure you say absolutely nothing...right?

      July 19, 2011 at 11:21 pm |

Ron, if you don't have Jesus in your heart and in your life, no religion makes any difference to you. Human sin cannot be atoned by any other but Jesus.

right, i think your a complete idiot but lets let your st. peter make that call... anyway, your argument is that because it was writting in a book therefore its true? thus translates to "so let it be said, so let it be written" well i say there is no god and your wrong to believe there is..i shall write a book saying that and that makes your statement a bit of a stalemate. question to you- is there a santa, tooth fairy, easter bunny? how fast do questions like these get answered by TRUE believers? another question, did you know , and this is true, that if jesus did exist he did so not 30 years before peter but more then 100 years before... nothing else can explain why peter knows nothing about what all you TRUE believers believe is the foundation of the christian faith..aka – all you people know nothing about your faith and should therefore shut up and maybe consider never talking again.

    Study the Quran carefully
[47:24] Why do they not study the Quran carefully? Do they have locks on their minds?

[47:25] Surely, those who slide back, after the guidance has been manifested to them, the devil has enticed them and led them on.

[47:26] This is because they said to those who hated what GOD has sent down, "We will obey you in certain matters." GOD fully knows their secret conspiracies.

[47:27] How will it be for them when the angels put them to death? They will beat them on their faces and their rear ends.

[47:28] This is because they followed what angered GOD and hated the things that please Him. Consequently, He has nullified their works.

[47:29] Did those who harbor doubts in their hearts think that GOD will not bring out their evil thoughts?

[47:30] If we will, we can expose them for you, so that you can recognize them just by looking at them. However, you can recognize them by the way they talk. GOD is fully aware of all your works.

[47:31] We will certainly put you to the test, in order to distinguish those among you who strive, and steadfastly persevere. We must expose your true qualities.

[47:32] Those who disbelieve and repel from the path of GOD, and oppose the messenger after the guidance has been manifested for them, will never hurt GOD in the least. Instead, He nullifies their works.

[47:33] O you who believe, you shall obey GOD, and obey the messenger. Otherwise, all your works will be in vain.

    The Great Disaster

[47:34] Those who disbelieve and repel from the path of GOD, then die as disbelievers, GOD will never forgive them.

[47:35] Therefore, you shall not waver and surrender in pursuit of peace, for you are guaranteed victory, and GOD is with you. He will never waste your efforts.

[47:36] This worldly life is no more than play and vanity. But if you believe and lead a righteous life, He will reward you, without asking you for any money.

[47:37] If He asked you for money, to the extent of creating a hardship for you, you might have become stingy, and your hidden evil might be exposed.

[47:38] You are invited to spend in the cause of GOD, but some of you turn stingy. The stingy are stingy towards their own souls. GOD is Rich, while you are poor.

      Traits of the Righteous

[25:63] The worshipers of the Most Gracious are those who tread the earth gently, and when the ignorant speak to them, they only utter peace.

[25:64] In the privacy of the night, they meditate on their Lord, and fall prostrate.

[25:65] And they say, "Our Lord, spare us the agony of Hell; its retribution is horrendous.

[25:66] "It is the worst abode; the worst destiny."

[25:67] When they give, they are neither extr-ava-gant nor stin-gy; they give in moderation.

[25:68] They never implore beside GOD any other god, nor do they kill anyone – for GOD has made life sacred – except in the course of justice. Nor do they commit adultery. Those who commit these offenses will have to pay.

[25:69] Retribution is doubled for them on the Day of Resurrection, and they abide therein hum-ili-ated.

[25:70] Exempted are those who repent, believe, and lead a righteous life. GOD transforms their sins into credits. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

[25:71] Those who repent and lead a righteous life, GOD redeems them; a complete redemption.

[25:72] They do not bear false witness. When they encounter vain talk, they ignore it.

[25:73] When reminded of their Lord's revelations, they never react to them as if they were deaf and blind.

[25:74] And they say, "Our Lord, let our spouses and children be a source of joy for us, and keep us in the forefront of the righteous."

[25:75] These are the ones who attain Paradise in return for their steadfastness; they are received therein with joyous greetings and peace.

[25:76] Eternally they abide therein; what a beautiful destiny; what a beautiful abode.

[25:77] Say, "You attain value at my Lord only through your worship. But if you disbelieve, you incur the inevitable consequences."

After thorough study of the koran, it is obvious that the following passages need to be deleted:

o "Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51)

"Believers, when you encounter the infidels on the march, do not turn your backs to them in flight. If anyone on that day turns his back to them, except it be for tactical reasons...he shall incur the wrath of God and Hell shall be his home..." (Surah 8:12-)

"Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall reign supreme." (Surah 8:36-)

"...make war on the leaders of unbelief...Make war on them: God will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will grant you victory over them..." (Surah 9:12-)

"Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]...until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." (Surah 9:27-)

"It is He who has sent forth His apostle with guidance and the true Faith [Islam] to make it triumphant over all religions, however much the idolaters [non-Muslims] may dislike it." (Surah 9:31-)

"If you do not fight, He will punish you sternly, and replace you by other men." (Surah 9:37-)

"Prophet make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home." (Surah 9:73)

"Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them." (Surah 9:121-)

"Say: 'Praise be to God who has never begotten a son; who has no partner in His Kingdom..." (Surah 17:111)

"'How shall I bear a child,' she [Mary] answered, 'when I am a virgin...?' 'Such is the will of the Lord,' he replied. 'That is no difficult thing for Him...God forbid that He [God[ Himself should beget a son!...Those who say: 'The Lord of Mercy has begotten a son,' preach a monstrous falsehood..." (Surah 19:12-, 29-, 88)

"Fight for the cause of God with the devotion due to Him...He has given you the name of Muslims..." (Surah 22:78-)
"Blessed are the believers...who restrain their carnal desires (except with their wives and slave-girls, for these are lawful to them)...These are the heirs of Paradise..." (Surah 23:1-5-)

"Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another." (Surah 48:29)

"Shall the reward of goodness be anything but good?...Dark-eyed virgins sheltered in their tents...They shall recline on green cushions and fine carpets...Blessed be the name of your Lord..." (Surah 55:52-66-)

The West cannot escape from Christianity. They either embrace it or attack it. Middle-ground is possible with other belief systems but not with Christianity. Judgment Day awaits everyone no matter how the mankind entertains itself.
