New reality series tracks lives of American MuslimsBy Dan Gilgoff, CNN.com Religion Editor (CNN) - TLC is premiering a reality series about the lives of American Muslims this fall, "All American Muslim," the cable TV network announced this week. The series tracks five Muslim families living around Dearborn, Michigan, home to one of the nation's largest Muslim enclaves. The series is about “inviting viewers into a world they might not otherwise experience,” said TLC's general manager Amy Winter in a press release. "Through these families and their diverse experiences, we will explore how they blend their values and traditions with everyday life in America," Winter said in the Thursday release, "providing insight into their culture with care and compassion.” The series, which premieres in November, tracks "very distinct lives that often times challenge the Muslim stereotype," according to the release. Characters include a pair of tight-knit sisters, one of whom wears a traditional Islamic headscarf and one who sports piercings and tattoos and has recently married an Irish Catholic man who is converting to Islam. Another character is a consultant to big auto manufacturer and struggles to strike a balance between work and raising a modern Muslim family, according to the TLC release. A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released earlier this year found that 46% of all Americans have a favorable view of American Muslims, while 26% have an unfavorable view. "Overall, positive views of American Muslims have risen since 2002, when memories of 9/11 were still fresh in most Americans' minds," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland in March, when the poll was released. In 2002, only 39% of all Americans said they had a favorable view of Muslims. |

It is with astonishment that I listen to a translated Somalian cable TV show that calls on all Muslims to reproduce and have as many children as possible – as soon as possible. Taking multiple wives if possible.
The goal is to be able to over take the country by voting – admittedly this will take several generations. Just simple math.
The same plan they have for western Europe and Canada – they learned it form the illegals in the US now.
The Latino illegals become democrats – what party are the Muslims going to join?
The real irony is that the American taxpayer is footing the bill via welfare for their own demise.

This show is supposed to show us how American Muslims are just like everyone else here but its not true. Past generations of immigrants were more willing to integrate into our society. These people only integrate as far as they have to. That is because they don't value American ideals like the older waves did. True, there were bad people in previous waves, like the Mafia, and there are bad people in current waves like Columbian and Mexican drug cartels, but the Muslims will always have a harder time integrating because they put their religion first and that religion is at odds with freedom.
Talk about a take over. Muslims are over running the country into the ground.
i have no idea why would ppl watch a show like this...i escaped Egypt to avoid muslims and violence and live a quite life..you are blessed by being away from them...why are they trying to shove islam down everybody's throat?
its a religion of hate and violence...if you aren't a muslim then you are worthless..your money and women are for grabs ...We as people living in America and other countries who have only a small number of muslim people should be againt Islamization ..againt them moving to our countries and trying to change laws and regulations...trying to be allowed to wake down the street wearing a "berqa" so u can't see if thats really a woman or a man or wutever..they wanna move and marry 4 women ..live on welfare and have as many kids as they want..people..Please Wake up!

Perhaps by exposing the lives of a variety of Muslims living in the US it will broaden people's understanding of different cultures and different religious views. More knowledge is seldom a bad thing. I will likely check this out if its broadcast up here in Canada.
However, given the audience that typically seems to post on CNN forums, I doubt it will be enough. Ignorance, hatred and bigotry seem to be too entrenched in US society for there to be any quick change.

Canada is identified as having more radical Islamic then the US – all the those cells are all within 10 miles of the US border.
They wander into Canada from Europe and then into the US.
The Canadians have proved time after time that they are incapable making the hard immigration decisions to protect themselves and their neighbor – just a matter of time...........................................

Yet another one who should at least make an effort to learn something other that what your preacher, Glen Beck, and Sarah Palin tell you. Allah is God. The Christian, Hebrew, and Muslim God/Allah/Yaweh are one in the same. If you spend so much time with your Bible maybe you should actually read some of what Jesus says about how we should treat our fellow man rather than being led around by the nose by those who twist it to suit their political views.
You are another example of the ignorance that still exists in American society. I will watch this show with an open mind even after losing a good friend recently to a roadside bomb in Iraq. Not all Muslims are radicals as well as not all Christians are bible bashers. You need to think for yourself and not be a zombie follower of other ignorant fools.

That was really an ignorant remark. Believe me, if even 5% of Muslims were violent, you would know it. Ninety-nine percent of us, at least, are just trying to quietly live our lives and raise our children.

If you don't like the show, then don't watch it. If you REALLY don't like the show then don't buy products from any of the show's sponsors. If your neighbor likes the show, then he has every right to watch it.
The show itself will either succeed or fail depending on if make money (i.e. ratings).

Who is trying to shove Islam down your throat? Simply because there is a show on tv, doesn't mean anyone is shoving it down your throat. Do you not have a remote to turn the channel? Can you simply not watch the show? Last time I checked, no one said watching this show was mandantory. Chill out and have another beer and watch another tractor pull if that makes you happy.

I wish they would stop shoving fishing down my throat. There are these fishing shows on television, I cannot tell you when they are on because I never watch them, but broadcasting them is shoving fishing down my throat!
