Poll: 52 percent approve of God’s job performance

By John Blake, CNN

(CNN) - If you think voters are in cranky mood over politics, a new poll suggests that some of the dissatisfaction may run deeper.

God’s job performance has trouble measuring up to many Americans' expectations, according to a poll by Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm based in North Carolina.

Only 52 percent of Americans approve of God’s job performance, the survey found, though just 9 percent disapprove.

The polling question that prompted this curious response was, "If God exists, do you approve or disapprove of its performance?"

"When asked to evaluate God on some of the issues it is responsible for, voters give God its best rating on creating the universe, 71-5," the polling report said. "They also approve of its handling of the animal kingdom 56-11, and even its handling of natural disasters 50-13."

Dino Grandoni cited the poll in a blog for the  Atlantic Wire:

On the bright side for the Almighty's re-election chances, God is still more popular than House Speaker John Boehner and both Republicans and Democrats in Congress, all of whom polled at 33 percent in the same poll.

(snip)

Believers or not, it seems ridiculous for the public to categorically grade God like this, until you realize that it's pollsters who asked the questions in the first place

Public Policy Polling used automated telephone interviews to survey 928 American voters from July 15 to 17. The voters were represented by a mix of liberal, moderate and conservative voters. The poll's margin of error  was +/-3.2%.

First of all Mr. Blake, why are you referring to God as "it" in your article? God is the supreme being and creator of the universe. Lets give HIM, his due respect. We are made in his image. God is a "he" and not an "it".

Why would you say that? As far as I can tell, this is a disaster for common sense.

Wow! I must have been kidnapped and thrown into a time machine back to the middle ages!
    Oh, I was wrong. It's TODAY'S world!
White guys guys killing white kids because they hate Muslims.
    Mothers flattening their daughters' breasts.
Minstream media polling the public on God's job performance.
Masses of hardworking people voting for a political party that takes away the programs they need and paid for with their own hard work and gives it to a class of people who not only don't work at all, but increase their wealth through theft and immoral means.
A world of people and cultures who scream, pray, worship and kill for their God, whose laws they themselves violate on a daily, hourly, minute by minute basis with all their "clean and faithful" souls.

And I say to myself, "WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD!"
    So it goes.

God is not the cause of all the world's problems, for any serious Bible student recognizes that "the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one", Satan.(1 John 5:19) Right after Jesus baptism, Satan offered Jesus "all the kingdoms of the world" in exchange for one act of worship.(Luke 4:6, 7)

Satan is thus the one who "is misleading the entire inhabited earth."(Rev 12:9) However, our Creator, Jehovah God, has purposed to destroy Satan and his "world" of divided governmental systems (Rev 19:19-21; 20:7-10) and replace it with a symbolic "new heavens and a new earth"(Rev 21:1), the "new heavens" being God's kingdom and the "new earth" being the "meek" ones that Jesus said would "Inherit the earth."(Matt 5:5)

If there were any justice in the Universe, the "God"of the Jews, Christians, Muslims would be dragged in chains before the Court of Human Justice and be forced to listen to the endless list of "his" bloody and wicked crimes against humanity and then sentenced by an atheist to have "his" useless self flung into the coldest depths of infinity never to be heard from again.

religion is just population control, it's stupid, you worship what you can't even prove, you are taught to believe god is real, but if he's not what then? are we sure by following a religion we will be promised heaven, no were not 100% positive, so why bother, Just live your life, do what you know is right, dont follow rules and live in a state of fear, that you will be punished for something written in a book ( the bible) the most people read wrong anyway.

52% can't open their minds to logic and reason because they're not intelligent enough and blindly follow and idea that is so absurd. god isn't real.

Did you learn about the bible in world history? No. Why? Because it's fictional.

Nobody approves godless Americans. Only vicious criminals want a better prison even in Norway. It won't happen. Criminals get only due justice in this life or next. Read the Book of Job if anyone wants to seriously find about God and this world.

Our doing a poor job in God's eyes wouldn't involve how we treat fellow humans, animals, and the Earth so much as how well we worship him, correct? Can't earn salvation through good works, but by faith and all that. But if God isn't actually doing a good job then he doesn't deserve to be worshipped, so it still fall back on him.

Look that Muslims teaching is hatred towards Jews and Christians. But we must love them and help them to get out from darkness blinded cave.

    Sahih International
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.

Who was God talking to at Genesis 1:26? He was talking to "the Word" his first born son, the pre-human Jesus. (aka. Wisdom, Michael, Mighty God, Wonderful Counselor, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace, Eternal Father ) see Isaiah 9:6; Colossians 1:15,16; Proverbs 8:22-3.

You also asked: "if there are other gods, who are they? Well, there is a True God and there are many False Gods. There are many things that can be called a "God." Sorry, I can't name them all here. But you will continue to find the answers you seek. =)

The character 'God' was referring to himself in the third person. You don't have to be a split personality to do this, but it is more common in narcissists and megalomaniacs.

Furthermore, it is merely your opinion that your god is the one true god, or that a 'true god' amongst the thousands we have has as a species even exists. Your opinion, that is, unless you can provide compelling evidence supporting your claim.

The bible is a work of fiction. It was written by an ordinary (albeit insane) man who's intent was to use it to control people. There was never a god who spoke down from the heavens nor was there a guy called jesus who performed miracles.

Do you believe in magic, Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy? Probably not...because you know they're not real. Well, neither is god.

Once you start believing that, your mind will be open to all sorts of possibilities without the stupid constraints that religion has imposed on you.

    1 Corinthians 2:14
    Amplified Bible (AMP)

14But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept or welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them [of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them] because they are spiritually discerned and estimated and appreciated.

Sorry, but you're actually the ones considered "idiots" and "stupid" because you actually believe in such a thing as god.

Magic sky fairies aren't real... Show me PROOF that god is real. It says in the bible that I can pray to god and he will answer my prayers - no matter how trivial they are. It says in the bible that I can ask god to show him self to me and he will reveal himself...

Yet for 2,000 years, the jack@ss hasn't shown up. You ever wonder why? BECAUSE HE DOESN'T EXIST!

The most important thing to remember is that we are not here for ourselves. We are here on earth for God's glory; not ours. Since we didn't create ourselves, we don't know what we were created for, but God Knows. It's not about us, it's about God. Seek God for the answer.
