Billy Graham released from hospital

From the CNN Wire Staff

(CNN)–Evangelist Billy Graham left an Asheville, North Carolina hospital Tuesday after being treated for pneumonia.

Graham, 93, returned home after six days at Mission Hospital, the medical center said in a statement.

"We are gratified that he has had a good response to treatment and we're committed to good home care to continue his improvement," said Graham's personal physician, Lucian Rice, said in the statement.

In the statement, Graham said he was grateful for the care and was looking forward to "seeing my home decorated for Christmas and spending the holidays with members of my family."

Graham, who lives in nearby Montreat, North Carolina, was also treated for pneumonia in May.

The Charlotte native has preached to millions of people over six decades, beginning his missionary work in 1944 when he started speaking at rallies for the Youth for Christ Campus Life ministry. He has since counseled generations of U.S. presidents, beginning with Harry Truman.

His most recent book, "Nearing Home," was published in October.

Graham's longtime spokesman A. Larry Ross tweeted on Tuesday, "Upon discharge from Mission Hospital, Billy Graham expressed gratitude for thoughts and prayers from around the world."

Ross also noted on the social networking site, "Graham's doctors said he made good clinical progress in combating pneumonia; will continue therapy @ home."

The hateful atheists posting here just make me more assured in my faith. They have so much hate and anger against something they profess not to even believe in.

God is so powerful that he can get even unbelievers so worked up.

There is no God. You can't hate what you don't believe in.

Why not hate a religion? Their deity does not exist and they are ignorant ass-holes who can't mind their own damn business!
But hate a god that doesn't exist? That's like hating Santa Clause! It's a fictional character. We can hate the bad character in a story and hate the book and whoever wrote such trash and all the book's fans who act like jerks, so what's your problem, George?

I've seen a lot of selfish, sanctimonious, hateful old preachers come and go BUT Dr Graham is not one of them. He only lived off a normal evangelical's salry; his board of directors controlled the organization; he has one very modest home in Montreal. His offerings have been funneled to the areas received. He wrote books and even much of that money went to his outreach. He never sai "follow me, support me" but pointed toward the God HE served. You have obviously lumped him into whatever offensive scenario (and there are legion, I admit) which hurt you specifically. You aren't interested in news about the evangelical world, only collecting an opportunity to say outrageous things about a man whom investigators have repeatedly exonerated from ANY improprieties. Why don't you choose a political party to bash instead. Surely you would have many more scandals, and you wouldn't have to pick on a man "nearing home" after years of service to at least one segment of our culture.

I have chosen a political party it’s the right wing extremist-theological party known as evangelical party.
Try being gay, an unwed mother, or any non-Christian religion. Because that’s clearly what that sanctimonious hateful cream bucket direct his vulgar speech to. Since I speak for those left behind in God’s madness I will clearly draw the parallels.

I knew Mr Graham's wife Ruth pretty well at one time in my life. They were the most giving, loving people I ever knew. Not once did they say any desparaging word to me despite the fact I was gay. Never tried to change me, even paid for a year of my education. Its kinda sad that you make off the cuff statements about someone you have no idea who youre talking about.

Marcus – Billy Graham has openly stated that gays should be castrated and cast out of society. I don't believe your story for a second.

Not so fast buddy. Let the Lord do his own thing.
Also, the Lord said: "It's not for yee to decide. Your will is not mine, neither are your ways. But, pray that your wish is that of the Father".
Hey, I thought I've forgotten my 1st. Grade Bible Lessons or Bible Knowledge (BK).

Now that he knows his time is coming near, maybe he'll start to do some charitable works instead of just plastering his face on TV and collecting cash.

great! he still has time to swindle a few more old ladies' social security checks before he finally goes to hell.

on a side note, he looks like the creepy old guy in Poltergeist 2.

He's a full blooded republikan and their spiritual consultant who gives them his blessings to these crazy republikans to be mean-spirited to the poor and the less fortunate amongst us. He has NO Soul. Not only that; the last time I checked, he has never paid taxes in his freaking life as a citizen.

yeah, graham is a real saint. he's a quote from saint graham: "all ho_mo_se_xuals should be castrated." the usual "loving" christian opinion.

he also said some lovely things about the jews. you can even hear some of it on the nixon tapes for yourself. this is especially disgusting because he's supposed to be the president's conscience, that's supposedly is why he's there in the white house whispering in the president's ear, to tell him what's right and wrong. instead he's telling nixon the jews are a synagogue of satan and that something has to be done. bunch of racist cr-ap.

and of course good old billy graham, like all other evangelist rip-off artists in the christian cult, has fleeced legions of good hearted followers out of their savings in the name of jesus. then bought nice suits, expensive masions, around the world traveling, etc.

@George, Does "Bay of PIGS" ring a bell in trailer park piggy ears.
Dr. EL Che, aka The World most International Freedom Fighter's name alone terrifies a lot of white Americans. Other than Jesus, EL Che was the most popular international human being that walked on surface of this earth. Your white Pope don't even come close neither is any US president. His flag image is waved daily at every international gathering around the World from East-to-West; and from North-to-South by the masses. You freaking trailer park coward. Other than cowards like you, he's the sole inspirational figure to the World at large and to those seeking freedom from any oppressor and white man's colonialism. His mere photo image terrifies any oppressor. I’m glad it terrifies you to your cowardly cow boy boots. Tell the world, how many innocent Iraqis have George Bush and Dick Cheney murdered? Even every 2-yr. old in the world knows who these two murderers are inclu. the pain and hardships they have brought to this World. You’re a blind faux news crazy idiot … period. The last time we checked, there's international arrest warrants for both George Bush and Dick Cheney murders.

Billy Graham is nothing more than a backwater, Southern Racist, who happened to swindle a LOT of money from a lot of good people. He took advantage of his ability to speak, and a time when the South was still very easily swayed because of ignorance. Sad, really.

I can't help but think of at least one instance in your life that would offend me so much that I would let that be my lasting impression of you despite what good you have done in the world... Are you really going to allow yourself to define someone based off something he was remorseful for and has asked for forgiveness? I don't care if he is Christian or Muslim, he deserves a little more than you picking your spots in holding grudges. And Martin T, you certainly know the word troll, don't you? All of your comments are premeditated hate. You can't deny that.
