Increasing diversity redefining America's Jewry

By Stephanie Siek, CNN

(CNN) - "But you don’t look Jewish," Jen Chau remembers being told often as a child.

But then again, what is a Jew supposed to look like? The usual implication in those words was that it was not supposed to look like Chau, who was raised Jewish by her European-American mother and Chinese father.

"I still think society's idea of a Jew is someone who looks like Jerry Seinfeld or Woody Allen," said Chau, 34. "They don’t look at someone like me and think, 'Oh, she could be Jewish.'"

But the face of Judaism in America is changing, as the community becomes more diverse through intermarriage, adoption, immigration and conversion.

Francis Salvador was the first Jew to die in the Revolutionary War. He came to the colonies in 1773. How long has your family been here?

So many Jews are racist I often wonder why they bother to have an "anti-defamation" organization in the first place.

  9. Atheism is not healthy for children and other living things

    • Religious indoctrination rots the brains of children and turns them into narrow-minded bigots . . . just like their parents

All those al Qaeda guys prayed that their planes would smash into buildings and kill thousands of innocent people. Prayer works!

Thousands of people in the buildings prayed that they would survive the terrorist attacks. Their prayers did not work.

Therefore, God loves terrorists and murders, but not their victims.

How is it that you are aware of the prayers of thousands? You wouldn't lie to impress would you?

    • Oh darn. Uncouth Swine does not like long names. That is really a shame. I think I will have to be more sensitive to his delicate emotions and post really short names like Al or Bob. I think he would do better with monosyllabic posts as well, so I can't u

But thanks for sniveling your opinions with us, uncouth fop.

Original DVD movies are usalluy written in dual-layer DVDs 8.5GB (DVD 9) so DVD Shrink compresses the movie so that it could fit in a single layer DVD (DVD 5) 4.6GB. The compressed movie is of course worse than the original, wherever you play it from, be it your hard disk or a dvd disc.It is the same as it is in mp3 s, where a song in 128 kbps is much smaller but worse than the same song in 320 kbps.- If you intend to keep the movies in a hard disk and space is NO issue (which i doubt) and you want FULL quality do not shrink them.- If you intend to copy/endorsement them to single layer dvd discs, then you should shrink them with DVD Shrink in order to make them fit into 4.6GB dvd discs.- If you intend to keep the movies in the hard disk and space IS an issue (you said over 1000 discs = approx 5-7TB !!!!) then DVD Shrink in the best case would compress down to 50%-60% = 3-4 TB.I would prefer additional compression methods-codecs such as DivX, Xvid, Matroska, etc which are for more advanced users but place forward fantastic quality (but of course worse than original) with high compression (~1-2 TB), ideal for keeping them in hard disk.

Wrong Bible David, we are to be the salt of the earth. Problem is we fail to do that so mistake us for turds. Guess the media is right when they say we are quickly becoming a turd world country,

@Swain. Insults? I think we've all been privy to that horrible scene in jr. high when the other kids pointed and called someone wealthy, powerful and intelligent.
If that's insulting then lay it on me. I wish everyone thought my people were smart and rich when I walked down the street.

Even the Jews don't consider these folks Jewish.

Judaisim is an aquired trait, being Jewish is a hereditary one.

Propoganda wont change this basic concept. Jews were quick to be seperate, and now that their numbers are dwindiling they suddenly embrace diversity?

Sounds strangely like Americas political parties!
