Kirk Cameron defends views on gay marriage

By Breeanna Hare, CNN

(CNN)–Kirk Cameron lost at least one fan with his remarks about homosexuality and gay marriage last week, but the former "Growing Pains" actor is standing his ground.

He explains in a statement that he "spoke as honestly" as he could when asked about his views on "homosexuality, gay marriage and abortion" while being interviewed for his film, "Monumental," "but some people believe my responses were not loving toward those in the gay community."

Cameron continued, "That is not true. I can assuredly say that it's my life's mission to love all people."

On Friday, Cameron appeared on "Piers Morgan Tonight" to discuss his film, among other topics.

CNN’s Belief Blog: The faith angles behind the biggest stories

When Piers Morgan asked the actor what he'd tell his kids regarding gay marriage, Cameron responded, "I'd tell my children what I believe myself...I believe that marriage was defined by God a long time ago. Marriage is almost as old as dirt and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage, and I don't think anyone else should, either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don't."

    The Bible is the only History Book you will ever get that has Truth and facts... ...and prophecy that actually was foretold by Godly men...became fulfilled I do not believe Bigotry is iin the Word of God....partiality is however...and showing favor over a rich man verses a poor man who comes into the assembly....judge what is right ...not according to y our own wisdom..but according to every word of God...allow the Holy Spirit to teach you and lead you into all truth....and see if you have a leg to stand on...eh...
    People will call evil good ...and good evil..that is predicted in the Holy Book..This is sad...They are all blinded by their own presumed goodness....but good works outside the finished work of the Cross will get you anywhere with God...come one..now ...you know what you have to do...now get serious and just do it...seek after the Lord while He still may be found of you ...bless you So Much...Remember...He does care...but He doesnt want you to be stay the way you are...to leave you in sin condition...He died for you in order for you be redeemed...from the fate of this world...We who are redeemed...llet the redeemed Say So....We are not walking in defeat...but, victory...through our Lord Jesus Christ...

      truthseeker..wishful thinking is not truth. When a religion requires sacrifice as yours did it is a blood lust that is a throw back to our very ancient past... why would the folks sacrificed to the gods by the Aztecs be any less important that your jesus figure? or those sacrificed at Stonehenge ? you nailed your sacrifice, others stabbed...is all a barbaric. There is a far better truth written in the atoms of your body that is far more exciting than anything written in the bible.

    You have a choice!
    In the translation of the Holy Quran Chapter 7 verses 80-84 Allah(God) says;"We also (sent) Lut: he said to his people: "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? (80) "For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds." (81) And his people gave no answer but this: they said "Drive them out of your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!" (82) But We saved him and his family except his wife: she was of those who lagged behind. (83) And We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): then see what was the end of those who indulged in sin and crime! (English translator Yusuf Ali)

    Nii, you keep saying the people have a choice to be ga-y or not.

    Since you have not answered my original question, I will ask again.

    Are you saying that you are attracted to both men and women in the same way? Not that you have se-x with both, but are equally attracted to both?

      ~~~The statistical studies from the nineteenth century and the three CCU studies on prayer are quite consistent with the fact that humanity is wasting a huge amount of time on a procedure that simply doesn’t work. Nonetheless, faith in prayer is so pervasive and deeply rooted, you can be sure believers will continue to devise future studies in a desperate effort to confirm their beliefs!~~.......
    Next time you interview believers just don't ask the rhetorical questions about Gay's. Challenge them on other topics such as Divorce/adultery/porn and see how they respond.
    A believer has a heart to walk right by God's standards and the answer to all of the above would be it is a sin and that God loves all of his creation equally and that God wants for all of his creation to live a Godly life that is pleasing unto the Lord.
    A believer does not and will not consider any of the above to be any more or any less of a sin and all believers know that they have sinned and need God's forgiveness first and foremost, and this point was well articulated by Kirk.
    Piers- You asked Kirk a question and you got the right answer.
    If Obama who can't change his parents is said to be black but not white even though he is both, if almost all half-caste with white blood are classified as the other parent's race then why is telling someone they can stop ad.ul.tery, drinking n being gay hatred.
    March 9, 2012 at 1:03 pm |
      What are you talking about, he has as much choice over his "race" as you have over your se-xuality. He is "classified" as Black because he looks Black, if he looked White he would be classified as White.
      @Nii: adultery is a choice, being add.icted to s/e/x is a condition that person will always have urges for s/e/x. drinking is a choice, being an alcoholic is genetic and that person will always have urges to drink. being attracted to the same gender you were born as isn't a choice;either you find the same gender attractive or you don't. there isn't a way to change from being gay i really dislike that term been used too many times by people to belit.tle those that enjoy the same gender.....or both genders as companions. from my point of view when a christian walks up to me and tries to convert me or say i'm wrong for how i choose to live my life, saying they want to save me from sin and hell, that is disrespecting how i live my life from looking down their condesending noses and judging me. with anything that a person is born into can't be changed, people of faith can deny their interest in the same gender when they are born that way due to their teachings in church, but they are two things........1) scared 2) still gay even if they repress it. the only choice we have is to either repress how we feel to fit into your nice little world or we accept who we are and love ourselves for being "born that way." love lady gaga's song.
      As I heard earlier there was scientific evidence for the uniqueness of being gay. I didn't know Lady Gaga was a scientist or her songs were now science texts! If alcoholism is genetic n people can stop it. Then gays can stop too.
      "I didn't know Lady Gaga was a scientist or her songs were now science texts! If alcoholism is genetic n people can stop it. Then gays can stop too."
      You guys want gays to look different but they don't. They have urges like hunger n se.x. Some satisfy hunger wit cocopops others with cornflakes. Se.x can be satisfied with a variety of options. It does not make u unique if u choose one way. Like Obama who looks mixed race but people only see Black.
    Being gay is your choice just as I choose to admire women, desire them n want them in bed. If u wanted to chaange ur se.x u need surgery and treatment. Se.xual orientation can be changed by the individual like drinking can. Some have done it b4 n will continue to.
In case you haven't noticed more churches, pastors, preachers, nuns, rabbis' are going on record stating that being gay as we know and understand it today is not a sin. The enemy of the soul wants to get rid of the WOMAN but the enemy the soul is on borrowed time. Live eternally, in peace by doing your best to live ACCORDING to God's Holy way. Do your best BUT don't give up and lean to your own understanding. Keep seeking God and Not man's approval. Trying to live according to the world makes people frustrated and they give up but GOD said that HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU. It is the truth – God gives peace.     Here's what I don't understand Prism – Over the past 15 years or so on these interwebz, folks like you have posted this tens of thousands of times – that gays choose to be gay. And over the past 15 years or so, we have asked the folks like you to post the citations to the peer-reviewed scientific research that supports your contention that gays choose to be gay (and thus by corollary, that we straights choose to be straight). In the spirit of fairness, we have posted citations to peer-reviewed science showing se.xual orientation to be a biological multivariate based in genetics, hormonal baths in utero, neuronal plasticity, neuroanatomy, etc. And we've done it tens of thousands of times.
    Sadly, to date, not a single solitary one of you has ever posted a single solitary citation showingg gays choose to be gay. Not once. Ever.
    Why is this Prism?
      Asking the fundie crowd for actual evidence concerning their opinions is fruitless – they simply ramble on and on, mis-quoting scripture and hiding behind 'Well God said it, not me!' memes.
      You know, one would think that our personal experiences as Gays and Lesbians would count for something – but to these people, me saying 'I didn't choose to be Gay' just causes these fundies to insult me like crazy, like how 'Well you *think* it wasn't a choice, but it is' or 'Well it's just a sign that you're dysfunctional' because of how they interpret their Bibles.
      It's like telling someone who lives in NYC that the Statue of Liberty doesn't exist – and they swear by a map drawn in 1800 that doesn't show it.
      @Primewonk
      Because scientist , however they may be sincere in their quest to understand, only acknowledge one part of what makes up a human being. They don't see the whole picture, therefore will NEVER find the true answers when it comes emotional and psychological make up of a (hu)man. We are physical AND spiritual beings. Those who deny the Spiritual part of human beings, only works as comparing a puzzle that has a frame, but the vital part is missing, and no one ever knows the motive of the picture...
      So when you say scientists are proving that ho.mo.'se"xuals are born 'that way" they don't see the whole picture. They are in error.
      I think that should be sufficient for me to say... Other posts that I wrote are there, written more in depth, if someone really wants to understand where it all originates....
      Prayer makes you secretively flatulent and embarrassed about it.
      Prayer makes your kids avoid spending time with you.
      Prayer gives you knobbly knees.
      Prayer makes you frothy like Rick Santorum. Just google him to find out.
      Prayer dulls your senses.
      Prayer makes you post really stupid shit.
      Prayer makes your crap really soft those few times you aren't constipated.
      Prayer makes you smell like shitty kitty litter and leads you on to harder drugs.
