Militant Islamist groups destroy shrines in Mali

By the CNN Wire Staff

(CNN)– Members of two Islamist militant groups destroyed tombs at a shrine to Muslim saints Tuesday, according to the mayor of Timbuktu, Mali, and other residents.

"The Islamists ordered the people to leave the area before they started smashing the tombs," Mayor Ousmane Halle said. "I saw both members of Ansar Dine and MUJAO, another Islamic faction in charge of the city. They were heavily armed and people had no choice but to leave when they started destroying the shrines."

It was the second time in the past two weeks that Ansar Dine, a militant group that seeks to impose strict Sharia law, has attacked the site's 16 mausoleums, built from mud and wood in the 15th century.

One of the town's residents said the militants surrounded the ancient Djingareyber mosque area at 7:30 a.m.

    Prayer changes things

Prayer does not; you are such a LIAR. You have NO proof it changes anything! A great example of prayer proven not to work is the Christians in jail because prayer didn't work and their children died. For example: Susan Grady, who relied on prayer to heal her son. Nine-year-old Aaron Grady died and Susan Grady was arrested.

An article in the Journal of Pediatrics examined the deaths of 172 children from families who relied upon faith healing from 1975 to 1995. They concluded that four out of five ill children, who died under the care of faith healers or being left to prayer only, would most likely have survived if they had received medical care.

The statistical studies from the nineteenth century and the three CCU studies on prayer are quite consistent with the fact that humanity is wasting a huge amount of time on a procedure that simply doesn’t work. Nonetheless, faith in prayer is so pervasive and deeply rooted, you can be sure believers will continue to devise future studies in a desperate effort to confirm their beliefs:!

You see! Islam is a religion of peace!...except it opposes history, archeology, philosophy, science, civilization and promotes destruction, anarchy, war, slavery, bigotry,terror.......yes, religion poisons everything and Islam is even more cruel!

This is disgusting. I still remember the time they destroyed the Buddhist statues in Afghanistan (I think it was Afghanistan). I knew many Muslims had no respect for other cultures, now they're taking to destroying their own heritage. Islam needs a reformation quickly.

Muslims bashing Islam. Ha! A good example of how dumb this cult is. I mean, if you can't get along with members of your own disillusioned bunch then there's no hope. And in this case, no hope for Islam is a very good thing.

It's clearly not a good thing. Many thousands of people die every year in the Middle East and Africa because of minor theological differences, most of these people being innocent bystanders. Unfortunately, religion is here to stay, so they might as well try and get along with each other.

    3. Mohammed was an illiterate, womanizing, lust and greed-driven, warmongering, hallucinating Arab, who also had embellishing/hallucinating/plagiarizing scribal biographers who not only added "angels" and flying chariots to the koran but also a militaristic agenda to support the plundering and looting of the lands of non-believers.

This agenda continues as shown by the ma-ssacre in Mumbai, the as-sas-sinations of Bhutto and Theo Van Gogh, the conduct of the seven Muslim doctors in the UK, the 9/11 terrorists, the 24/7 Sunni suicide/roadside/market/mosque bombers, the 24/7 Shiite suicide/roadside/market/mosque bombers, the Islamic bombers of the trains in the UK and Spain, the Bali crazies, the Kenya crazies, the Pakistani “koranics”, the Palestine suicide bombers/rocketeers, the Lebanese nutcases, the Taliban nut jobs, the Ft. Hood follower of the koran, and the Filipino “koranics”.

And who funds this muck and stench of terror? The warmongering, Islamic, Shiite terror and torture theocracy of Iran aka the Third Axis of Evil and also the Sunni "Wannabees" of Saudi Arabia who apparently send monetary support to the topic terrorist groups.

    Current crises:

The Sunni-Shiite blood feud and the warmongering, womanizing (11 wives), hallucinating founder.

When a person actually somewhat responds to questioning, then a dialogue can start. When some asshat like you, just sayin, HeavenSent, Bob, etc. make blanket statements and refuse to respond to corrections, criticisms, or valid points refuting those statements, then there is no point in bringing up any kind of argument. You want evidence of what happens here? Look over the fast few months at the posts, instead of parroting paranoia spewing from HeavenSents computer.

This is not real life pal.No matter how hard you try to make your little screwed up fantasy real,it won't happen online.

This is what feeds many atheists. You respond to what the "stupid" Christian says but will only be nice to one if they agree with some of what you believe.

I have been exposing that since the start so the entire planet can see how many atheists act just like the religious they claimed not to be like.

You really think I'm a troll? No but I think you atheists stick to religious articles so your little fantasy about Christians can be real. These are people who have no idea who they are..but their comments are proof enough for you.

Right I'm the troll. You make people troll. You want them to troll. You just show the world, you aren't logical.

    • hawaiiguest

      @L

And there's the random assertions I was talking about. Where did I say that I would only talk to people that agree with some things on me? What I'm looking for is actual dialogue, whether or not the person actually agrees with me or not. In fact, I prefer it that way, because dissent on an issue drives conversation, and that leads to at the very least understanding of the opposition, and if the evidence, or arguments are good enough, then who knows I could change my mind.
Be careful about who you jump to conclusions about L, since I've made no secret about my positions or goals on this site.

You can hide behind logic for so long hawaiiguest.

If logic and reason is what you considered fine don't go acting like a spoiled 5 year old who thinks he is better because of it.

You are so another atheist eager to feed this delusion that many atheists suffer from.

You pry on the "dumb Christians" for a reason. And the reason has already proven.

You really think somebody out there has what you want?

You are the one that lives in a fantasy world thinking logic and reason basically makes you more worthy of knowing.

You brainwashed yourself. If a christian won't answer your questions how do you react to that? If a christian gives no evidence of God how many atheists stay calm? I haven't seen a single atheist on any website react with a calm manner.None.

      July 10, 2012 at 7:49 pm |
    • hawaiiguest

      @L

All you're doing is making more and more unjustified assertions with absolutely no backing.
I have asked HeavenSent multiple times to provide reason why the bible should be considered an authority, or to provide evidence for the existence of the god she espouses. I have never gotten a response, unless you count "You're another of Toms account, You're going to burn in hell", or more often than not, ignoring the questions and merely continuing to post the same crap over and over and over and over and over.
I asked the same of many people who's entire argument on an issue is "the bible says" or "god says". I have had a few attempt to answer, but most do the same as HeavenSent.

      July 10, 2012 at 7:51 pm |

if nobody can answer your questions or ignores it how does that make you feel? How do you react to that? But if a person says "I cannot prove God" your anger busts.I mean really bursts. You can't take that as honest answer.Your own mind won't grasp that this is actually true.If you did,you would realize from the start as being an atheist,NO ONE can.

Yet you stick around on religious articles obsessing to find somebody who does? Wow pal. What a way to use logic and reason to determine the choice.

What a "logical" way of life.

How many times have you watched zealot after nut job claim that god was real and he/she could prove it? '

Now ask yourself how many times you've seen a believer say, "I can't prove that there's a God. I believe there is" and then proceed to give reasons for belief, instead spewing a bunch of nonsense as "evidence"? When the religious get honest, let me know.

hawaiiguest. For someone who's been on this site for over a year, you missed my answer that God created ALL. Not your scientists. God made man (meaning women too) for His pleasure. God sent Himself down to earth as our salvation (Jesus Christ) ... to walk in the flesh (aka walk the walk, instead of just talking the talk ... as in His commandments to us). It's His ball park, His ball game, He wants all His players (us) to play the best that He wants us to play (aka be) so that we can dwell with Him through eternity ... why would Jesus want to put up with rebellious children? He got that with the 1/3 of the angels rebelling against Him due to Lucifer's lies ...

HS, you are insane. You and L aren't one and the same, are you? What about junior? Evangelical? Are you all one and the same, just posting under different names?

      What is the difference?

Want to know my honest opinion? I'm speaking about my own faith only:To become a Christian,it must be your own choice. No else can decide this life style for you.I know many in the past and present have thought raising a child under the Christian label will save them for hell but in actual reality, the choice is their own not their parents etc. This life(being Christian) goes deeper than just believing. You have to consider this yourself. Many today do not even consider Christ as their savior because they just believe what their church or family says.

you can ask questions all you want, test it as much as you like but only you can decide to believe.I have studied hell, read my books about, went to different websites and searched the bible, for a Christian to fear hell is not possible. For one Christ himself said he is the only way to the father. So I think the fear of hell comes from guilt or their power freaks.

I don't want you to believe what I'm saying.I want you to decide on your own.Hardly any Christian gives you that choice but I do.

Have you considered? If being an atheist is what you considered be it.I want atheist to question everything and decide on your own.

This life style..How can I put this the right way? Is more work for yourself and not science nor others than you actually realize.I am not speaking to confuse or convert you.

I have studied other religions.Yet I'm still a Christian.and i like searching on my own.

My God? I got my own reasons and none deal with the typical crap for believing.I cannot list them as most go deep into my own personal life.

I have no proof to present.Nothing.I want you to decide and consider for yourself.

      That is all.

And this ridiculous notion that people who don't believe are part of some Satanic cabal intent on 'silencing' you and the "truth" is just plain laughable. You haven't been silenced. You've been babbling nearly non-stop. If CNN wanted to shut you up, they'd have done it. What people who don't believe want is for you to respect their civil and legal rights. To keep church and state separate as the founders intended. To leave people alone to do as they wish within the law.

L, God bless you on your journey. As a Christian, the more I study His truth, the more I see His truth ... everywhere, anywhere, all over this world. His truth is perfect. The more mature in His word I became, the more perfection I witnessed. When I was younger, I saw His truth through immature eyes. Yes, His truth always made sense, but, it sometimes angered me because I wasn't willing to listen. At each step of my life, the more of His truth I comprehended ... the more I was willing to let go of my ego and completely see life His way. Of course, there is more to this ... but, that was my beginning walk with Jesus and I have never experienced anything such as Him.

      @L

I would say I disagree with the premise that belief can be chosen. This is because a belief is the acceptance of something as true, and to accept something, you first need to be convinced of it, which can be either good or bad reasons in and of themselves. I understand your position on the rest, and I'll ask, do you subscribe to a concept of a literal hell?

      July 10, 2012 at 8:20 pm |

Well Tom thank you. That is something I actually live by,both here and in real life.I don't really care what one believes but I want each and everyone to really consider it.I don't force Jesus or God onto anyone.I have studied the message of Christ since the start of my reason. It's impossible for one who is forced to believe.

You can think all religions are cults but I'm not claiming to be 100% right.I don't know it all.

Literal concept of hell? Well as far as I can tell, considering I have done research in NDE well its kinda hard to tell. They all say basically the same. All religions current even in the past to even atheists.I have tried to understand Christs' own teaching on hell its kinda hard to understand.

Do I believe there is a hell? Well my answer is kinda different. From my own life,I have seen true evil..Not demons or anything but just stuff I really can't explain.

Yes my belief seems crazy..but honestly if you don't wish to believe it I'm seriously ok with it.

One of the things I like is finding out what people believe and why. I've done my own research into many religions as well. It always seemed kind of clear to me that Jesus was talking about a hell with the whole hellfire, demons thing, while it is almost a non-existent thing in the OT.

    • Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son

I apologize to you as well, L. Thank you. When believers start from the premise that someone who simply doesn't believe there is a god must therefore be evil, or selfish, or 'carnal', it is only reasonable to expect that the agnostic or atheist will feel on the defensive. Arrogance begets arrogance. When someone insists he or she knows what God wants or thinks or knows what is right or wrong, black or white, with no in-between it sets my teeth on edge. I react because it has been my experience that there are seldom simple, clear answers to things and very few absolute truths.

Tommie Tom, tune in. There is only 2 choices in life. Love and follow Jesus' truth and live spiritually, while here on earth as it is in heaven, dwell with Him for eternity. Second choice. Love and follow satan's lies, die spiritually while on earth. Physically die, go back to God who created all. Day of the Lord, you still reject Jesus. No eternity for you. There is no sitting on the fence. If you don't choose Jesus, you automatically go over to satan's team of liars. So, stay deluded in your laah laagh land that what you see is life. Because Jesus blots you folks out quicker than you can blink your eyes because you didn't humble yourself enough to believe.

      @L

I wouldn't say that I'm looking for anything. It's more like, I revel in knowledge, and I want to make sure that I have as many true beliefs as possible, and as few false beliefs..

      L, here it is.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

      Matthew 7:13

      Amen.

Do you think you can start a new post? This one is too long.

Am I right? Am I wrong?

I have questioned that forever now.I no longer fear both.I speak for myself only, from my own life,I have found reasons to believe.

If I'm wrong and there is nothing after death,I tried something.I tried the best I could to become what my belief said.

I may not know..but from what I have seen researched and witnessed..In my mind are logical reasons to believe.

      @L

Well personal experience, there is nothing I can say to that. I cannot determine anything that is first person, and you very well may have good justified reasons for your belief, and all I can say is that I don't have evidence to justify accepting the claim.

HS, what part of my posts do you not grasp? I don't care what you believe. You're welcome to it. You are not welcome to tell me what I should believe or what you think will happen to me if I don't. Threatening me with damnation will do you no good whatsoever and will do me more harm than good. All your posts ever do is make me want to get as far away from believers like you as I possibly can.

Also, this is what I come on here for. Every so often, I get to have an actual conversation, and get to know the thoughts of other people.

HG, you think that one was a fake HS? See, I can't tell the difference.

    • HeavenSent

Tommie Tom, every true Christian is going to tell you the same. As a Christian, why would I lie? There is no point in lying or violating any of God's Holy rules. Christians have to meet all His Holy rules, not pick and choose what we are ready for, or not ready for. He ensures we are ready. That situation with my bosses that amuses you so... was 1/2 of my walk through the fire.

As I told you earlier in other posts ... Christians aren't trying to save you or anyone's souls ... we are ensuring Jesus' truth is heard. Whether you accept Him or not, is your choice not to believe. The eternal flames are for all those that feel the same as you. That's not a threat, that's His truth.

    • Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son

You just don't get it, do you? That is what YOU believe. That isn't fact. It's a belief. When people like you try to insist that they know the TRUTH and that ALL MUST OBEY what they believe or burn, I just don't even bother to listen anymore. And that's what you do. I'm done with you.

Dear members of the beyond stupid Islamic Ansar Dine and MUJAO terrorist groups, (assuming you can read)

From the studies of Armstrong, Rushdie, Hirsi Ali, Richardson and Bayhaqi----–

The Five Steps To Deprogram 1400 Years of Islamic Myths:

( –The Steps take less than two minutes to finish- simply amazing, two minutes to bring peace and rationality to over one billion lost souls- Priceless!!!)

    Are you ready?

Using "The 77 Branches of Islamic "faith" a collection compiled by Imam Bayhaqi as a starting point. In it, he explains the essential virtues that reflect true "faith" (iman) through related Qur’anic verses and Prophetic sayings." i.e. a nice summary of the Koran and Islamic beliefs.

The First Five of the 77 Branches:

    "1. Belief in Allah"

aka as God, Yahweh, Zeus, Jehovah, Mother Nature, etc. should be added to your self-cleansing neurons.

"2. To believe that everything other than Allah was non-existent. Thereafter, Allah Most High created these things and subsequently they came into existence."

Evolution and the Big Bang or the "Gi-b G-nab" (when the universe starts to recycle) are more plausible and the "akas" for Allah should be included if you continue to be a "crea-tionist".

"3. To believe in the existence of angels."

A major item for neuron cleansing. Angels/de-vils are the mythical creations of ancient civilizations, e.g. Hitt-ites, to explain/define natural events, contacts with their gods, big birds, sudden winds, protectors during the dark nights, etc. No "pretty/ug-ly wingy thingies" ever visited or talked to Mohammed, Jesus, Mary or Joseph or Joe Smith. Today we would classify angels as f–airies and "tin–ker be-lls". Modern de-vils are classified as the de-mons of the de-mented.

"4. To believe that all the heavenly books that were sent to the different prophets are true. However, apart from the Quran, all other books are not valid anymore."

Another major item to delete. There are no books written in the spirit state of Heaven (if there is one) just as there are no angels to write/publish/distribute them. The Koran, OT, NT etc. are simply books written by humans for humans.

Prophets were invented by ancient scribes typically to keep the un-educated masses in line. Today we call them for-tune tellers.

Prophecies are also invali-dated by the natural/God/Allah gifts of Free Will and Future.

"5. To believe that all the prophets are true. However, we are commanded to follow the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings
    be upon him) alone."

Mohammed spent thirty days "fasting" (the Ramadan legend) in a hot cave before his first contact with Allah aka God etc. via a "pretty wingy thingy". Common sense demands a neuron deletion of #5. #5 is also the major source of Islamic vi-olence i.e. turning Mohammed's "fast, hunger-driven" hallu-cinations into horrible reality for unbelievers.

Walk these Five Steps and we guarantee a complete recovery from your Islamic ways!!!!

Unfortunately, there are not many Muslim commentators/readers on this blog so the "two-minute" cure is not getting to those who need it. If you have a Muslim friend, send him a copy and help save the world.

Analogous steps are available at your request for deprogramming the myths of Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Paganism..

      John 10:34-36

34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
      35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Jesus was quoting from the OT:

      Psalms 82:6-7

6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.  KJV

god(s): Hebrew word #430 'elohiym (el-o-heem'); plural of OT:433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative: [usages of the word in the] KJV – angels, exceeding, God (gods)- dess, -ly), (very) great, judges, mighty.

      Jesus was referring to:

      Exodus 22:28
28 Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

That's how satan twists men's minds (ego in full swing) from Jesus' truth.
