Faith groups launch campaign to counter controversial 'Defeat Jihad' ad

By Kristina Sgueglia, CNN

New York (CNN) - Jewish and Christian groups have unveiled three separate ad campaigns to counter what they claim is hateful speech toward Muslims contained within an advertisement posted at some New York City subway stations.

The new ads tout religious tolerance and offer support to the Muslim community.

"Help stop bigotry against our Muslim neighbors," reads one. "Support peace in word and deed," reads another.

The campaigns are in response to a controversial "Defeat Jihad" ad that is displayed in 10 of the city's more than 400 subway stations. It reads: "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."

New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority initially rejected the ad, which was produced by the American Freedom Defense Initiative. But the authority's decision was overturned when a federal judge ruled that the ad is protected speech under the First Amendment.

  1. Where is your God now?

Human sacrifices were still occurring in Buddhist Burma in the 1850s. When the capital was moved to Mandalay, 56 “spotless” men were buried beneath the new city walls to sanctify and protect the city. When two of the burial spots were later found empty, royal astrologers decreed that 500 men, women, boys, and girls must be killed and buried at once, or the capital must be abandoned. About 100 were actually buried before British governors stopped the ceremonies.

A young Wisconsin girl is in critical condition today after police were called to the scene of what they believe to be a murder attempt against a young child by her own mother. Although the 6-year-old is expected to survive, she suffered significant injuries. Her mother, Tasha Harmon, 30-years-old, is accused of stabbing her young daughter earlier this week, leaving her with deep puncture wounds to her chest and back, resulting in a punctured lung. Harmon reportedly attacked her daughter while she was still sleeping with a 7 inch long steak knife.

God is in everything however in many languages and peoples this is translated differently. worship who and how you please and understand "GOD" lives in all living things and you will hold yourself responsible no matter how small the act of violence you commit on any of your creatures. This ad says ti all what a misfire . Please read this ad and apply it where it belongs . Christopher Columbus felt the same way. This logic is rapidly absorbing our resources to fulfill its prophecy. We as humans can survive together and co-exist There is no reason for the few extremists to control the mass compassion capable group. Believe in yourself and visualize your own experiences of prejudice. If men in prison will join hands to save themselves from fire then the conclusion is humans subconciously maintain inate support for unilateral existance when faced with uncontrolled non existance

2 year old Amanda is a toddler who was beaten so severely, she had to have part of her intestines removed.
The Department of Family Services allegedly visited the trailer where this child lived a week before and found her with a broken leg and allegedly did NOTHING to protect her.

Amanda is still in critical condition in the ICU at Cardinal Glennon Hospital. Doctors had to remove 18 inches of her intestines. Police say the child was repeatedly beaten by her mother’s boyfriend, Kraig Monroe, 24, of Belleville. He punched the toddler in the stomach when she would not stop crying while her mother was at work. She is now in a medically-induced coma.

The founder of the Baptist Church, John Smyth, eventually broke away from the church he founded and joined the Mennonites! That’s right – Smyth had so little faith in his own creation that he abandoned it. In addition, he tried to convince as many of his congregation as possible to abandon the baptist church – and a majority of them did.

The Book of Abraham is believed by Mormons to be the handwritten account of the prophet Abraham. In 1835 Smith was able to use his “Angel-given” tools to translate some Egyptian scrolls that he was given access to (at that time no one could read hieroglyphics). Upon inspection, Smith declared that they contained the Book of Abraham. He promptly translated the lot and it was accepted as scripture by the church (it is included as part of the Pearl of Great Price). The scrolls vanished and everyone thought the story would end there. But it didn’t – in 1966 the original scrolls were found in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. The scrolls turned out to be a standard Egyptian text that was often buried with the dead. This fraud caused a number of mormons to leave the church and is still a hotly debated topic amongst mormons and their critics.

      Where is your God now?

Life is a test from God whether you love and follow Jesus' (God in the flesh, Immanuel, God with us) truth or love and follow satan's lies. There is no sitting on the fence as you atheist claim you are doing. If you are not a practicing Christian that shows your love for Jesus, then you automatically belong to satan's team. Did I mention, so far, you've failed His test. You have the chance of repenting for your sins to Jesus, ask Him if you can get closer to Him, and of course, sin no more. You have to be pure of heart when repenting because Jesus knows if you are not sincere.

Where is your God now? God gave us free will to see if man (meaning women too) would use it to love and follow Jesus' truth or love and follow satan's lies. It's easy to love and follow Lucifer's lies. It takes courage and patience to love and follow Jesus' truth.

Your point is what Where is your God now? Why so many are cowards that take the easy way out in life and love and follow satan? Why God tests us this way? Yes, He knew what man (meaning woman would do). He gave us a blueprint how to live in this life. It's called the Bible. God is long suffering. Meaning, He wishes that no one would perish. Never the less, most will.

  18. Atheism is not healthy for children and other living things

    Prayer changes things

    October 6, 2012 at 11:15 am |
    • Phil

Believers indoctrinate their children before they can think for themselves because they believe they can't be moral without their particular religion. But which religion is the true religion, and therefore the moral one? It is erroneous to think that one can't be moral without a belief in supernatural operator.
There is absolutely no evidence that prayer accomplishes anything other than good feelings in the brain and group delusion. If you think I'm wrong, then meet the challenge of proof that is posed by demonstrating something that would provide incontrovertible proof of the power of prayer-a challenge that you can find on the web. Assemble a mass of prayerful individuals and pray for a deserving veteran with a missing limb to have it restored. If you can do that then there will be no arguing that God answers prayer. Saying that you prayed and God answered your prayer because you passed your math exam is not proof-it is delusion. Good luck!

If there is a god, he is indifferent to our existence. The proof of that is the number of horrible things that happen to children-hundreds and thousands die every day from genocide and starvation in spite of prayer. Why do thousands of miscarriages happen? What positive outcomes and lessons learned results from this barbarism?

Where's your evidence???? I know, you don't need evidence because you have faith-how quaint, and devoid of reason. And what a convient way to control
