(CNN) – One of the Bible's paradoxical statements comes from St. Paul's Epistle to the Galatians: "Power is made perfect in infirmity."
The poetic statement proclaims that when we are weak, we are strong. Pope Benedict XVI's stepping down from what many consider one of the most powerful positions in the world proves it. In a position associated with infallibility - though that refers to formal proclamations on faith and morals - the pope declares his weakness.
His acceptance of frailty speaks realistically about humanity: We grow old, weaken, and eventually die. A job, even one guided by the Holy Spirit, as we Roman Catholics believe, can become too much for us.

Einstein's Gravity Theory Passes Toughest Test Yet
Apr. 25, 2013 — A strange stellar pair nearly 7,000 light-years from Earth has provided physicists with a unique cosmic laboratory for studying the nature of gravity. The extremely strong gravity of a massive neutron star in orbit with a companion white dwarf star puts competing theories of gravity to a test more stringent than any available before

Mar. 4, 2013 — The discovery and analysis of an extremely rare African American Y chromosome pushes back the time of the most recent common ancestor for the Y chromosome lineage tree to 338,000 years ago. This time predates the age of the oldest known anatomically modern human fossils.

Ancient Earth Crust Stored in Deep Mantle
Apr. 24, 2013 — Scientists have long believed that lava erupted from certain oceanic volcanoes contains materials from the early Earth's crust. But decisive evidence for this phenomenon has proven elusive. New research from a team including Carnegie's Erik Hauri demonstrates that oceanic volcanic rocks contain samples of recycled crust dating back to the Archean era 2.5 billion years ago. Their work is published in Nature.

Its all just a political game. Anyone who thinks that this is actually holy or spiritual is deluded.
burn it all down I say.
Note that when he stepped down, he chose to keep his immunity from being sued by the victims of the priests he covered for. Good riddance to this awful man.
For those of you that do not believe in religion or a god, why come to this section and just be nasty and argumentative? Why not find a section you do agree with, contribute calmly and politely, and get on with things
Because it is a belief blog, I I believe your religion is man made and flase.
You sound like another sheep that likes to preach to the choir. You can go to your church and be welcomed, here you will be questyioned about your beliefs and be exposed to ther beliefs of others and I can guarantee that most will not agree with yiou.
oops...drunk fingered a few times in there...sorry for the typos
@ Richard Cranium
Drunk fingered? I hope we're talking about typing, lol. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
hahahah omg....baaad typo
...because honey...that's the whole point. We get to say what our opinions and beliefs are (just like you). And guess what? mine are just as valid as yours.
You don't like it – go park somewhere else.
Your choice to have the RCC be the victim in these scandals is beyond paranoia. The disgusting behaviour of the hierarchy and the continued support of the laity is just sad. At least in Ireland the RCC churches are nearly empty, a start of a worldwide trend. I can only hope.
And the dumb creation story Bill is wrong !
Only for the new members of this blog:
Benedict's flaws are the same as the flaws in the RCC. He nor the next pope or any other future pope will not be able to correct said flaws as these errors are inherent in Christianity.
An-alyses of Jesus’ life by many contemporary NT scholars (e.g. Professors Ludemann, Crossan, Borg and Fredriksen, ) via the NT and related doc-uments have concluded that only about 30% of Jesus' sayings and ways noted in the NT were authentic. The rest being embellishments (e.g. miracles)/hallucinations made/had by the NT authors to impress various Christian, Jewish and Pagan sects.
The 30% of the NT that is "authentic Jesus" like everything in life was borrowed/plagiarized and/or improved from those who came before. In Jesus' case, it was the ways and sayings of the Babylonians, Greeks, Persians, Egyptians, Hitt-ites, Canaanites, OT, John the Baptizer and possibly the ways and sayings of traveling Greek Cynics.
For added "pizzazz", Catholic theologians divided god the singularity into three persons and invented atonement as an added guilt trip for the "pew people" to go along with this trinity of overseers. By doing so, they made god the padre into god the "filicider".
Current RCC problems:
Too many pedophiliac priests, an all-male, aging, mostly white hierarchy, atonement theology and original sin!!!!
Prayer changes things.
Prayer does not; you are such a LIAR. You have NO proof it changes anything! A great example of prayer proven not to work is the Christians in jail because prayer didn't work and their children died. For example: Susan Grady, who relied on prayer to heal her son. Nine-year-old Aaron Grady died and Susan Grady was arrested.
An article in the Journal of Pediatrics examined the deaths of 172 children from families who relied upon faith healing from 1975 to 1995. They concluded that four out of five ill children, who died under the care of faith healers or being left to prayer only, would most likely have survived if they had received medical care.
The statistical studies from the nineteenth century and the three CCU studies on prayer are quite consistent with the fact that humanity is wasting a huge amount of time on a procedure that simply doesn’t work. Nonetheless, faith in prayer is so pervasive and deeply rooted, you can be sure believers will continue to devise future studies in a desperate effort to confirm their beliefs!:
