Give me a break! Get off your holier than thou crap. God doesn't care one bit about stopping people from getting married. Only scared cowards do

Let them say what they want, live however they want and pass what laws they want. I'm not even worried. The more Godless this world becomes, the closer we get to God taking action and cleaning up this world.

Typical – why do some christians rail against the "state of decay in our society" and the others turn around and say "see this is proof god's coming back soon!" – If that's the case, why is anyone worried about this? Everything's going just as your god said it would...

This whole issue confuses me. I have a few questions. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord – Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbours. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness – Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can somebody clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

    Thanks in advance.

      @lazarus00000

You said, "I am wondering where post go to that do not show up to be read? Are they being removed by censors/reviewers? "CNN welcomes a lively and courteous diccussion..." Really?"

CNN uses WordPress blogs for their opinion pieces, and they use automated censoring that looks for words, or fragments of words, that are considered offensive. If your post doesn't show up, it most likely had a forbidden word in it.

On the Belief Blog, repeat posts, even those that were previously censored and not displayed, will show a message stating that you posted it before.

The following words or word fragments will get your post censored (list is incomplete):
            arse             as in Arsenal
            bastard
            bitch
            clit
            cock           as in cockatiel
            coon           as in cocoon
            cracker
            cum             as in circumstance
            cunt
            douche
            effing
            fag
            ftw
            fuck
            goddamn
            gloryhole
            homo         as in homosexual
            hooters
            horny
            hump
            jackass
            jap
            jism
            kinky
            kooch
            necrophilia
            nigra         as in denigrate
            nigger
            nipple
            orgy
            pis
            poon
            porn
            prick
            queer
            rape         as in grape
            sex           as in homosexual
            shit
            slut
            smut
            snatch
            spic         as in despicable
tit               as in constitution or title
            twat
            vag           as in vague
            whore
            wonderful us
            wop
            wtf
            xxx

To circumvent the filters you can break up the words by putting an extra character in, like: consti.tution (breaking the oh so naughty "tit").

      LinCa,
Thanks so much, but I try to not use such words even though they are not used in a derougatory context.
      Thanks again,

      @lazarus00000

You said, "Thanks so much, but I try to not use such words even though they are not used in a derougatory context."
Even very innocent words can trip the filters. Some of the obvious ones on an article like this are sex and homo, but also constitution, or even title will cause your post to get rejected.

You may even have stumbled on one that I'm not aware of.

      June 26, 2013 at 6:23 pm |
    • Akira

Unfortunately, if one even wants to use the word "Constitution", one must rely on html tages to get past the "tit" contained within that word.

    • Helpful Hints

      lazarus,

Here is another version of that list, with a few more suggestions for what words might be tripping the filter:

Bad letter combinations / words to avoid if you want to get past the CNN Belief Blog/WordPress automatic filter:
Many, if not most, are buried within other words, so use your imagination.
You can use dashes, spaces, or other characters or some html tricks to modify the "offending" letter combinations.

Since we've got Other Bob being a cafeteria Christian and dumping select bible bile on us from his Christian book of nasty, let's take a look at what's really in there. From both evil testaments, and note the comments within re context and interpretation:

    Numbers 31:17-18
17 Now kiII all the boys. And kiII every woman who has slept with a man,
18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.

Deuteronomy 13:6 – “If your brother, your mother’s son or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul entice you secretly, saying, let us go and serve other gods … you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death”

Revelations 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

    Leviticus 25
44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.
45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.
46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.

Note that the bible is also very clear that you should sacrifice and burn an animal today because the smell makes sicko Christian sky fairy happy. No, you don't get to use the parts for food. You burn them, a complete waste of the poor animal.

Yes, the bible really says that, everyone. Yes, it's in Leviticus, look it up. Yes, Jesus purportedly said that the OT commands still apply. No exceptions. But even if you think the OT was god's mistaken first go around, you have to ask why a perfect, loving enti-ty would ever put such horrid instructions in there. If you think rationally at all, that is.

And then, if you disagree with my interpretation, ask yourself how it is that your "god" couldn't come up with a better way to communicate than a book that is so readily subject to so many interpretations and to being taken "out of context", and has so many mistakes in it. Pretty pathetic god that you've made for yourself.

So get out your sacrificial knife or your nasty sky creature will torture you eternally. Or just take a closer look at your foolish supersti-tions, understand that they are just silly, and toss them into the dustbin with all the rest of the gods that man has created.

Ask the questions. Break the chains. Join the movement.
Be free of Christianity and other superstitions.

Love this quote from Mike Huckabee: "5 people in robes said they are bigger than the voters of CA and Congress combined. And bigger than God.May He forgive us all."

Why I like it is because it shows us something about the majority of conservative Christians. Huckabee is hoping God will "forgive us all" because, as God acknowledges in the book he himself wrote, very often in the past he has destroyed entire cities and civilizations for the sins of a few. That's Old Testament justice and many conservative Christians, whom I call Old Testament Christians, fully believe in it. (Remember Pat Robertson claiming 9/11 was God's punishment because we have gays in America?)

    June 26, 2013 at 5:51 pm |
    • Cherries

5 people have decided that the unconstitutionality of some laws needed to be struck down. Huckabee is irrelevant, and making himself more so every time he pontificates about something that deals with a subject he doesn't like.

    • Chester

Yeah, I'm not sure if Huckabee realizes we live in America, where there is a freedom of religion. This is not Iran or Pakistan, where religious law is state law.

    18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!

Why aren't you quoting the passages that talk about killing your children if they talk back? Or the passages about not cutting the hair on the side of your head and not trimming your beard? Or the passages about not wearing clothing from two different fibers? Or the passages about not eating shellfish?

See, you don't REALLY follow the bible. You just want to use it as a weapon to force your beliefs on ONE topic on the rest of the world.

When you start telling people they should follow the passages about killing their children when they talk back, then, and only then, will I take you seriously when you talk about religion.

Until then, you are a cherry picking hypocrite.

I hope you haven't been eating any shellfish and that you are staying on top of stoning your neighbors when they don't go to church. Always interesting to me how you pick and choose what nonsense to believe. I don't believe that the point of religion is to tell you who it is OK to hate but you are trying to prove me wrong

You all know some Bible but you do not under stand it because you only think naturally not super naturally. You need Jesus to understand the things in The bible.

Bob, you do realize we live in America, right??? This is not Iran, or Pakistan, where the country is ruled by religious law. We have the 1st Amendment which not only gives us individuals freedom of religion, but also says our government is free from religion ("Congress shall pass no laws establishing religion"). So all your Bible quotes are nice and all, but what do they have to do with federal laws?

I wouldn't start dancing about 'equality' just yet, Sam. Single people are penalized for their marital status. That doesn't seem very equitable.
