Twitter theme: Zimmerman will face a higher Judge

By Daniel Burke, CNN Belief Blog Co-Editor

(CNN) - As news spread on social media of the not guilty verdict in the Trayvon Martin case, a religious theme soon emerged: Sooner or later, a higher authority will judge George Zimmerman

Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, may have been the first to express a version of this theme:

Football star Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings echoed those words:

That view crossed racial lines. Christopher Epting, an Episcopal bishop in Chicago, simply said:

Joshua Dubois, the former director of the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Initiatives and a Pentecostal pastor, drew on the Bible for this tweet:

Author Shirley Strawberry cited the Bible as well.

Some, like singer Josiah Bell, seemed to take some solace in the idea of divine justice.

But others put a frustrated spin on the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous phrase about morality.

Soul singer Betty Wright drew flak for saying that Zimmerman will end up in hell.

Finally, some Christians noted the irony of this Sunday's Bible reading for many liturgical churches: The story of the Good Samaritan:

Esau, do you see caucasians? The Israelites are not dead, they alive. So why is the world still bowing down to freemasons and other false gods (2nd kings 12:11-12) *Genesis 27:29-30*

Fast forwarding to November 21, 2013 Zimmerman is a side show distraction dumming you down for public consumption. Even the educational school system belongs to the matrix it is called Core (Jude 1:11) And you ask who is Korah? (Genesis 36:14) What is more important to you, the commandment of God or your worldly traditions? Obama care is the mark of the beast to cause confusion. America is the daughter of Babylon & the most high GodAHAYAH will make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant (Jeremiah 51:29 & St. Matthew 24:15) *Daniel 2:49 but Daniel sat in the gate of the king. *Ezekiel 28:3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: *Ecclesiastes 3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. *Jeremiah 8:15 We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble! *Genesis 49:17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way,.. (St. Matthew 15:3) *St. Luke 17:21*

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is excellent blog. An excellent read. I'll certainly be back.

It is hard for a parent to accept that their child would actually do something wrong like get involved in drugs, theft, or assaulting a person at night in the rain. It is always easy to blame someone else for the bad decisions our children make. God will judge us all, and right now Sybrina Fulton's son is on the hot seat for his actions that night.

Nobody wants to see the FACT that Trayvon Martin was guilty of theft, burglary. Nobody wants to see the FACT that he was guilty of using marijuana and had different drugs in his system during his altercation with George Zimmerman. "Do not confuse me with the truth; my mind is made up."

Well Tim, it's a good thing you are not a judge or a person of any power. You know within your heart that you have hate in your mind. Looking at a kids short past and finding his guilty on your own as for Marajuana it just became legal. You will have a life of predjudice and hate. You must live it and no one else. Your in Prison. Not a word on Zimmerman?? Good luck

Well lets us just see here. That's just about got to be the dumbest thing I have seen today...yet. God will judge Zimmerman? Of course he will. He will actually judge each and every one of us according to the bible. ALSO according to the bible there is no sin greater than any other. So in reality he is no more or no less a sinner that Trayvons Mom.

Forget this stupidity about a "higher judge". Based on the not guilt verdict, Zimmerman "stood his ground". TM also had the same right to "stand his ground". The only problem for TM is that he did not have a gun to reenforce his right. This is the lesson for African American boys – OWN GUNS and learn how to use them to "stand your ground". Walking around alone at night in the USA without a gun is suicidal – the USA is not Africa. Stop using fists, use guns. For example, just find out where Zimmerman lives, keep following him while carrying a gun and provoke him then if he so much as faces you, shoot him. Make sure he is dead so he can not provide evidence in court and make sure you have some bruises and cuts on you. That is when justice will be done.

You don't think it is possible that TM attacked GZ? It is pathetic how many of our black community disregard the facts and buy into the who;e racism theme. The proper thing to teach young black males is to stay in school, get good grades, choose a respectable career field, attend church regularly, be kind and couteous to everyone you meet, repect and support the police, stay off drugs, don't steal, don't assault people, and quit thinking the man is out to get you.

Why was GZ following TM? He had no reason to. He was not a law officer. He was told by the police dispatcher not to follow.
If you were an innocent (in this context at least) and had every right to be where you were and were being profiled and followed by a stranger, I suspect you'd feel you had the right to confront that stranger (if indeed that is what happened). We've seen from his subsequent actions that the likelihood is that GZ felt he was some kind of vigilante plus we find out that he was still upset from an argument with his wife.

Zimmerman was fighting for his life. He killed in self defense. And was found innocent.
How many people comment on this trial, and was NOT at the trial?

It's like blaming a merchant for being open then getting robbed, then saying if he had not been open my son would not have robbed him. The merchant should be punished. Not my poor little son.

  15. Just Call Me Lucifer

Mr. Zimmerman will face no higher power when he dies. There is no soul that lives forever in any of us. If you want "justice" as you perceive it, better do it now.

You are mistaken. There is justice.

You'll get it, or mercy. You talk big now, but you'll snivel as you're exiting time/space. No worries. Even after you spend your lifetime bashing and viciously attacking the Savior and His words, just call on Him. He'll still save you. He still loves you. Just don't die suddenly.

Yep. He loves you so much that if you live somewhere (or some time) that never heard of him, he'll send you directly to hell no matter how good of a person you are.

If these people would bother to look at the evidence, which was that Zimmerman called 911 and stayed on the line ...why would he of called if he was about to commit a crime. and his martin's dad even lied about hearing his son call for help. he first said it wasn't his son. later on he changed his mind so he didn't look like a bad father. And there was forensic evidence of martin on top of Zimmerman and Zimmerman had head injuries. Martin was smashing Zimmerman's head into the pavement and he felt like his life was in danger so he shot him. It was wrong, he shouldn't of done it. But it was in fact self defense. Trayvon was walking around a neighborhood where there had been repeated break ins, and Zimmerman himself had his house broken into, so he decided to do a neighborhood watch to protect people in the area from getting their things stolen. He noticed someone who didn't look familiar and decided to see what he was up to. Trayvon didn't like that and confronted him leading to an attack on George. Everyone on here seems to think it was this big racist injustice, when it didn't have to do with race at all. But these stupid mobs who only heard what CNN had to say about the story are in an outrage because they've been lead to believe the trial was an issue of race. Grow up. People get killed all the time and we hardly ever hear about it, but since the news media saw that this could be twisted they went for it and everyone went along with it. I'm very sorry that that young man died, and I think Zimmerman should've probably gotten manslaughter, but this murder case was unjustified. All the evidence was against the prosecution.

Martin will face a higher judge, Zimmerman will face a higher judge, you will face a higher judge, I will face a higher judge. So what's the point of the article?

Yes, God will be the final judge. And in His all-knowing wisdom, his verdict will be "Innocent". If anything, God will think twice and consider condemning the soul of attacker Trayvon Martin to purgatory.

Stand by your Hispanic Friend? It's as clear as a bell. You should consider your own soul by your actions here. So Back up the Hispanic guy. Let the Black kid go to Purgatory..., question who had the gun? who brandished the weapon with intent? Travon Martin with a bag of skittles? Is a good thing you have no importance..

  18. What?

If you are conceited enough to think that God shares your opinion on a verdict, you are very stupid. Though most religious people are.

Trayvon Martin is being portrayed as an angel and as a child who wanted to get home.NO. He was peering in windows and got on top of Mr. Zimmerman to fight him. Face the facts. This was not about race. It was about self-defense. Zimmerman was innocent.

GZ was found not guilty. No one really knows if he acted in self-defense. So you're as biased as the people you dislike. But the verdict of not guilty was clearly the correct one given the lack of evidence.
