Mosque to go up near New York's ground zero

The mosque project has gotten mixed reviews from families and friends of 9/11 victims.

Plans to build a mosque two blocks away from ground zero have set off an emotional debate among area residents and relatives of victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

Cordoba House project calls for a 15-story community center including a mosque, performance art center, gym, swimming pool and other public spaces.

I'm a vet of the viet nam era and my fellow Americans make me sick when it comes to patroitism. Has anyone asked, why do the moslems insist on building a mosque at ground zero or the immediate vicinity????? I think it's a slap in the faces of all the Americans killed there, on America's ground. Read and remember your history Americans.....America was born as a Christian Country. I say donot let them builded that.....SUPER MOSQUE....atleast not within 10 – 20 miles. And for every mosque builed let their be a church and a temple also.

I'm an Iraq war vet (I say that because for some reason that matters to this debate) Im embarassed and sick at the blatent disregard of the foundation to which this country was built on. You say that America was born as a Christian country, yet there is no proof, but there is in writing, if you read it the freedom of religion. You not only slap America in the face, but every founding father by putting your beliefs of religion in front especially since they worked so hard to assure that religious intolernace will not be accepted.

They choose to build there because there is a large population of Muslims in the area and they need a space to pray and socialize. You disgrace every American and non American person who died to include the many Muslims.

Why can't they build a mosque in that area?????????

I'm just curios to know, if the US was built as a Christian nation, why is it that there is no mention of it as being so in our Constitution (the one that counts), it seems as though it was purposely left out, why would that be?

It's funny how YOUR beliefs are the exactly reasons why our Founding Fathers left Europe, YOU have become what the founding fathers didn't want. Congratulations sadly.

I will take a hundred mosques run by the "Cordoba" Muslims over one extremist church like the one you go to.

    • to unpatriotic Charles

You do understand that those who have not served in the Military can be Patriotic as well? (after all your fellow bigots Palin and Gingrich never served) As well your determination of what Patriotic is just your Fundy Christian beliefs masked behind your "patriotic beliefs".
