Lady Gaga on Catholicism

From the Editors: Larry King Live Senior Producer Nancy Baker was on site in London for Larry King's interview with Lady Gaga. She filed this report:

It’s not every day that you have the opportunity to meet a global sensation. I traveled to London this week for Larry King’s interview with superstar Lady Gaga.

Arranging this special one-on-one – part of our celebration of Larry’s 25th anniversary with CNN – was no easy task. Lady Gaga is in the midst of her sold-out world tour, The Monster’s Ball. To say her schedule is jam-packed is to understate the case.

Still, her team carved out the time. The venue was a designated room in the backstage area of the O2 Arena, where Lady Gaga would thrill (and I do mean THRILL!) her fans with a brilliant concert performance just hours later.

Right on time – to the minute – Lady Gaga walked in, accompanied by just three people.

“Hi everyone, I’m Gaga,” she introduced herself to our CNN crew – which was more than three times as large as her modest entourage. She then proceeded to shake hands with everybody. She could not have been more gracious.

I – and everybody else on the crew – had wondered what she was going to wear. She did not disappoint. Just the opposite. Lady Gaga paid a witty tribute to Larry by donning a white silk shirt and unique black suspenders. To add to the visual punch, Larry took his seat on our New York set sporting a black shirt and white suspenders! Was this study in sartorial opposites planned ahead of time? No. Absolutely not. It was serendipity. And it added a terrific touch to a unique show.

Lady Gaga was as candid as she was articulate throughout the interview. Her frankness extended to her very honest comments about growing up in the Roman Catholic Church.

For every successful person there will be thousands of haters. All these people who sit at their dead end jobs or their about to be forclosed homes who hate thier life so they try to take something away from her. Guess what people, Lady Gaga isn't reading this, she doesn't care what you think because she's out there having fun doing what she loves and she's doing it quite well. Whether or not you like her music or her style doesn't matter, she's making millions and selling out concerts worldwide, more power to her. Maybe instead of spewing this worthless hate speech you should go out and try to do something productive

I see people putting down LG's 7 #'s, as if that achievement is easier today than the 80's and 90's. Well lets see "Just Dance" stayed in the top 10 for an entire year. Then Poker face stayed in the top 10 for about the same, while "Just Dance" remained in the top 20 for the following year. Those two hits alone put her in the same realm as MJ and Madonna. Like them No other POP artist had that sort of achievement with there first album until now. Moving on to her other 5 #'s. Keep in mind this happend in just 2 years. All from one Giant album. It did not take 20 years for 7 #1's , for Gaga it took only 2 years. Lady Gaga had 4 of those #1 hits on the billboard top 40 all at the same time. The last pop artist to do that was MJ. So yeah with these kind of facts, it seems that LG is all that! and she will continue on for some time, with no need for auto-tune, like the our other pop artsist out now.

      Dear Marco,

God loves sinners! It's sin itself He hates, sin destroys us. Since He loves sinners, God sent Jesus for all humans to give us a choice to spend eternity in heaven. Who knows if someone at the last minute before death gave their life to Christ? We will be be suprised at who is in heaven (and who is not.)
As for Lady G, she may believe Jesus and God exist, but even the demons believe–and tremble. My prayer for her is that there is a seed of truth in what she spoke, and that it would grow into a full-blown, fruitful surrendered walk with Christ.
      God bless, y'all.

Oh, and to clear any confusion from the matter...we are ALL sinners in need of a savior, me, Marco, everyone that's commented and everyone reading this. God is saddened when we choose the path to hell.

Marco (and those who seem to be hatefully condemning) I encourage you to get in the Word. We have been warned that harboring hate (for the unsaved, or whoever) is akin to murder. God looks at the heart, and He sees this sin. I exhort you to turn away from this, perhaps now would be a good time to study the book of 1st John.

      1stJohn 2
9Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. 10Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him[a] to make him stumble. 11But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.

      Your sis in Christ.

Remember, there is nothing after this life. It is all we have, and if we do not live it to its very peak, we have never lived at all.

My father founded his own business without God, became rich without God, and lived the best life he could without God, turning every which way to help those in need. Now according to you guys he's rotting in hell as a sinner. Please . . .

    • Lucas

Was he a sinner? We all are. Will he be in Heaven, certainly not. Was he nice and giving? Maybe, but that is not the point now is it? God and then His Son give us life, and you disregard that? Hellbound.

Believing in anything based of faith is, to put it bluntly, absolutely moronic. I wish there could be a way for me to look down upon you sad, sad people when I die so I can laugh at your foolishness. It truly is a pity there is no such way, however it would be nice to believe it, no? Don't spew Bible scriptures at me if that is your only weapon. But, alas, it is all you have.

Your wish is futile. It will be the good people, probably not me included, who will be in Heaven when you burn in Hell. Your tombstone will read, "all dressed up and no place to go."

I think Lady Gaga is SICKENING!!! And anyone who like her is CRAZY!!! As a person/artist she is a CREEP!!! For religion, well she said it, SHE"S CATHOLIC... That pretty much sums it up. I really don't understand WHY people bow to the queen, priests, bishops, There is only 1 person I will ever bow down to and that's God. Who really cares she's a good singer, that does'nt make her any special than anyone else. People should quit putting money in Hollywood's pocket singers, movie stars, etc. and keep their money in their own pocket. That is why the economy is crazy, people keep giving thousands of dollars to the churches, singers, movie stars. It's sickening.

Ms. "gaga" isn't the only one confused about religion. There are many many many ppl out there who don't know where to turn to cuz all religions are bias and prejudice. in mainstream religions like Islam Christianity Jewish you are completely bashed for being gay or ethnic backgrounds even other denominations of christianity are against each other. Its craziness absolute craziness. And religious (over half the time) does not equal spirituality. True spirituality is based off of LOVE. Loving ones self and loving others of all kinds. Having an open heart and mind...Unfortunately, Mainstream Religion and even the "not so noticed" religions dont have that element at all. Because if they did, a lot of the prejudice wouldn't be around. Key word A LOT (meaning most)

@ think before you speak – I agree with your comment. Religion has always tried to have the upper hand, but this isn't about religion, it's about having a relationship with God without the guidance of mankind that leads one to failure, corruption and much much more evil things.

Lets see, she introduces herself as "Lady GaGa"....her name is GaGa.....GooGoo? I means seriously people. She isnt talented in the slightest. Her music is repetative and ridiculous. It is typical corporate rubbish packaged, wrapped and mass produced and pushed on the small minded sheep of society who simply accept it as cool and great. Nothing this ..woman? has done is even remotely ground breaking or spectacular. She cant sing...well, and she is nothing short of wierd. Her interview with Barbwa WaWa (Barbera Walters) was nothing other than the two of them suckling on each other's breasts the entire time and it was complete joke. How anyone would even try to put this side show circus clown in the same catagory as the Beatles? Really? Seriously? Hell lets go ahead and compare hew song writing to that of Mozart and Chopin while we are at it mmmk?

Exodus 13:2 – “Consecrate to me all the firstborn. Whatever is the first to open the womb among the people of Israel, both of man and of beast, is mine.”

James 1:26 – If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

Colossians 2:18 – Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind,Isaiah 47:13 – You are wearied with your many counsels; let them stand forth and save you, those who divide the heavens, who gaze at the stars, who at the new moons make known what shall come upon you.

    Psalm 106:37 – They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons;
Colossians 2:23 – These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

irs501Passages in Exodus state that female slaves who were sold into slavery by their fathers would be slaves forever. A corresponding passage in Exodus contradicts this; it required female slaves to be given their freedom after 6 years.

However, if the slave owner "gave" the slave a wife, the owner could keep the wife and any children as his property.

    @ OldMO –

I know for a fact that many people are worshiping other gods, such as idols.

Here are scriptures from the Word of God:

Exodus 20:5 – You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,

1 Corinthians 10:20-21 – No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

Exodus 20:1-10 – And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, ...

Exodus 20:1-15 – And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

So everyone has access to TRUE facts about music history:

Lady Gaga has two number one hits in the United States to date, "Just Dance" and "Poker Face". She often claims to have six number one singles, but she is referring to Billboard magazine's Pop Songs (top 40 radio) chart, where "Just Dance", "Poker Face", "LoveGame", "Paparazzi", "Bad Romance" and "Telephone" have all reached the summit.

The Beatles had more than 1 #1 on a few albums, perhaps all of them.

The Beatles had 21 #1 hits in the US alone. Some of them were #1 for 5-9 weeks! No one has or ever will do that!

    Check your facts people.

I find it hilarious how people seem to think because Lady GaGa sings in an unconventional way, she cant sing. She is a CLASSICALLY trained singer from a verrryy young age. So if she was asked she could probably keep up with Mariah...who by the way sucks nowadays (someone mentioned her somewhere in here)

If all these people actually gave her a chance and watched some of her live performances they'd see she doesnt lip sych and she doesnt perform her songs exactly like they are on the tracks. The woman has an incredible vocal range her shows are fantastic, she will perform songs with just her and a piano and its amazing. Shes not a fad...shes not going anywhere.

I like that shes unique, remember people gave Madonna hell for being the way she was back then now shes seen as a revolutionary....GaGa will be seen that way soon.

agreed.. Gaga is talented and I don't forsee her losing popularity in the near future. Not many people can write songs as catchy as the songs she writes.

Well, she claims to believe in Jesus, but how she can do that while wishing for a better religion is beyond me.

And righteous? One (adjective): singular; alone; to be a single unit. I don't care if your book says three is one, it doesn't make it correct or right. My book says green eggs and ham are delicious, but I recommend anyone follow that bit of advice.
