Church plans Quran-burning event

In protest of what it calls a religion "of the devil," a nondenominational church in Gainesville, Florida, plans to host an "International Burn a Quran Day" on the ninth anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks.

The Dove World Outreach Center says it is hosting the event to remember 9/11 victims and take a stand against Islam. With promotions on its website and Facebook page, it invites Christians to burn the Muslim holy book at the church from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"We believe that Islam is of the devil, that it's causing billions of people to go to hell, it is a deceptive religion, it is a violent religion and that is proven many, many times," Pastor Terry Jones told CNN's Rick Sanchez earlier this week.

I simply pray for this man, May God give him sense, that how to treat other religions, and how to respect emotions of other believers. Islam is the last and final version of the same faith that was brought to the mankind by various prophets. This true, updated and final version of faith that is promised by GOD to prevail and replace all previous versions before the day of judgment set in. The hatred and anti Christianity emotions this person is trying to propagate, are based on his ignorance and misunderstanding. The Koranic verse being referred to is narrated out of context. Muslims shall ignore these mischievous thoughts, and at the same time media like CNN shall also behave responsible and shall not propagate or advertise such thoughts in the wider interest of peace harmony and tolerance around the globe.

    (24. So nothing was the answer of people except that they said: "Kill him or burn him." Then Allah saved him from the fire. (25. And (Ibrahim) said: "You have taken idols instead of Allah. The love between you is only in the life of this world, but on the Day of Resurrection, you shall deny each other, and curse each other, and your abode will be the Fire, and you shall have no helper.")

Really ,when i see all these hate messages being spawned all over the internet, it makes me really wonder, religion is about making the path to heaven, concerned with life after death, a person chooses a religion he believes is the best way to heaven, there are many religions in this world, including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, everyone is just trying to get to Heaven, so why do people get so bothered about other people's religion & way of life? Eg, a Muslim woman's veil, why do feel so bothered about it for? The lady is most probably wearing it to go to heaven, isn't that something very personal? Why should it send shivers to others to see a Muslim woman veiled? And why should the mosque's call to prayer lasting less than 5 minutes bother others? I myself dont feel any problem with the church bell tolling? Religion is something very personal. Why can't people just co-exist? Why provoke hate? Terrorism? It's becoming so notoriusly & nauseatingly hyped these days. We know the word was quickly extended to even cover freedom movements that had existed for decades, which actually has little to do with religion except that the freedom fighters happen to be Muslims. Many feel "terrorism" is a new story spinned so as to make the invasion of Iraq and Afganistan appear in good light to the world. Our concern is based on the historical track record that over the past two centuries the west often used the excuse of good causes to colonise other countries all over the world. and even for a spate of other belligerent acts in more recent times. This is again being repeated now, at first to educate others on democracy and human rights, now to liberate against terrorism. If u look back later on at the history being written now, u will find that the same pattern in history has is being repeated. That's why I worry this case of that little Church wanting to burn the Quran is just the tip of the iceberg but the problem is actually bigger and more pervasive than that. It reflects a bigoted mindset that has existed for centuries.

i will say 2 words for this man, first you are stupide, second i think your live is pain, cause we muslim trust on all the religeons and believe on it cause it is in the coran and if you burn it its like you burn all the religeons because the coran is the last religions that sum up all what was before, i think that you must read about it before prenounce any harmfull word, i'm sure you'll be proud to be muslim after be informed about it,cause allah will forgive you if you become a muslim. maybe that sign of satan want to take you to hell but you can ,,,,,,,,if you want to be, like us, at heaven...
your muslim brother, even after all what you said, but islam is a peaceful religion.

I would advise anyone not to promote hate. The earth belongs to all humans, whatever color or creed, not just to the white race. Before we start forgetting history, I would like to remind that we ask the simple question who exterminated the native Indians from America to build the so-called American dream. What was the race and religion of those who exterminated those innocent people, who practised the brutal slave trade in such a big way, the slave trade that treated people like cattle, and who exterminated whole communities from parts of Africa. Who was so inhumane as to drop yellow rain on Vietnam and the atomic bomb on Japan. All these acts were done by a people very very dangerous, very very evil. And yet the world has been so kind as to forgive and forget those dirty acts, those brutal inhumane acts to mankind. Those destructive acts were clearly done by a dangerous people, they are the ones the world must be on guard against. At least others were not so crazy as to blame the religion of these people who did these brutal acts, in the same vein, no one has the right to start blaming Islam for Sept 11. How can the world forget those heinous acts which killed millions of people, and only think of Sept 11 2001, when there are still question marks about who was really responsible for sept 11. So what, if there is a group of people want to do crazy things like burning a holy book, they are not challenging the Muslims, they are challenging God, so lets leave it to God to deal with them, we know better. My posting is just to remind, please dont be childish and pretend to be suffering from amnesia, forgetting about the dark modern history of the west in the last two centures.

In regard to the christians involving in such horrific actvity, i would advise them to read the translation to Surah Al Mariam in the Quran. The bible and the Quran emit the same message, they are from the same source. How can one disregard the Quran so much? I hope those who take part in this event open their eyes and stop others from doing so.

Then get have a drink and go to bed. Maybe two drinks, maybe a fifth. Not the fifth amendment either! Oh, gee, why can't we all just get along.........hahahaha – kiss my grits!

Islam means peace. For those that are just naive, disrespectful or uneducated should really try reading the Quran. There are extremists in every religion and non-religions therefore those that do try and act out in the name of 'Islam' is wrong also. It does not say in the Quran to harm or kill others but unfortunately as mentioned there are those that do think it is right and kill in the name of 'Islam'. MUSLIMS DO NOT BELIEVE IN SUICIDE therefore suicide bombers are wrong but as mentioned before we cannot get rid of extremists in every religion. We just need to learn how to put all this hate aside and co-exist as the human beings we are. Peace to everyone.

so much misunderstanding, it can only be cleared by truly understanding Islam and accurate knowledge of the Quran.

Islam is a peaceful and loving religion. The Quran is our holy book and needs to be protected and respected.

How ignorant and irrespective is this guy- a real embassador for his religio- yeh right!. So what his saying, that because a MINORTIY of naive Muslim out there who carry out these atrocities every other Muslim is held accountable for their actions?. The same can be said that if there is a Murderer in a family then the whole family should be sent to prison? NO everyone is accountable for their own actions-

Regardless of whether you have belief or no i so hope the people of america protest against this. It is totally uncalled for.
