The proposed building is a COMMUNITY CENTER which includes a prayer room which could be used for Muslims as well as non-Muslim visitors.

This old run-down building is not some 'Mosque' with Minarets and Domes which the Faux news network has been spewing out to divide, confuse and mislead the America people.

This old run-down building is TWO CITY BLOCKs from the Twin Towers site. Next to a Strip-Bar and a Burger King. Are the Faux news network thinking the Strip-Bar is also on 'sacred ground'? Of course not, they don't want you to know it is simply a community center located in a old-building next to a Strip-Bar and a Burger King.

Next door is the Dakota Roadhouse tavern, ok for the roadhouse but down on a community center?

To Methusalem: The Islamic nations are helping, at least the people inside that can get any sort of aid and money to the people of Pakistan are trying to help. The problem is not with the Islamic nations but there governments, if the US government did not allow aid into a certain country it wouldn't be fair to say the citizens of the US aren't trying to send aid or they don't care is it? Sorry Methusalem, I get what you're trying to say but either you're here to bash a group or you just don't fully understand that most situations aren't black and white and there are always shades of grey or sides to a situation that we all cannot see or maybe inyour case, choose to ignore.

Talking about "Ignorance"...why aren't Islamic nations helping the flood victims of Pakistan accordingly?

The majority of Pakistan's Muslims are Sunnis so Iran definitely will not help. The Saudis are Sunnis but they believe they are above other Sunnis since Allah blessed them and the Saudi "royal" family with all that oil. And then there is a hold over from the Indian experience in a thing called the caste system.

  4. Muslim-American

It, is amazing what ignorance a person who goes by, the name "Reality" could blindly parrots from some islamophobic propagandist on the comments of this video. All that is required in response is this quote from a historian from the Library of Congress,

"The Founders of this nation explicitly included Islam in their vision of the future of the republic. Freedom of religion, as they conceived it, encompassed it. Adherents of the faith were, with some exceptions, regarded as men and women who would make law-abiding, productive citizens. Far from fearing Islam, the Founders would have incorporated it into the fabric of American life."

My advise to those truly in search of "reality" is not to parrot the falsehoods of snti-Islamic propagandists such as Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer.

      The total reality:

Recognizing the flaws, follies and frauds in the foundations of Islam, Judaism and Christianity by the "bowers", "kneelers" and "pew peasants" will quickly converge these religions into some simple rules of life. No clerics, monks, evangelists, imams, rabbis, professors of religion or priests needed or desired. Ditto for their houses and classes of "worthless worship". It will be called the great "Pink Slipping" of religion and its leaders.

As per James Somerville, Philosophy professor emeritus from Xavier University, Cincinnati,

"The faith of the vast majority of believers (and non-believers) depends upon where they were born and when."

It is very disturbing that such religious violence and hatred continues unabated due to radomness of birth. Maybe just maybe if this fact would be published on the first page of every newspaper every day, that we would finally realize the significant stupidity of all religions.

How could less than 1% of the American Muslim population takes the greatest nation on planet Earth hostage so easily?! Who or what is behind all of this?"

The followers of the warmongering, wife-be-ating, long-dead Arab named Mohammed believe that the koran supersedes the USA Const–itution. And that is why we have now a Department of Homeland Security to keep American Muslims and the other 1.5 billion global and "con-ned"/dark-age Muslims in check.

      A few questions:

Are we the greatest nation? While I think we certainly used to be, there are plenty of great nations that have followed in our footsteps of democracy while avoiding the pitfalls of violence and racial bigotry. I think the best measure for judging this is a happiness index and average lifespan. In these categories, the US ranks rather low infact. We do have the highest amount of wealth, however. Do you have thoughts on the topic?

Are we taken hostage? I don't think so at all. I regularly enjoy lunch with muslims (I am non-religious and from a Jewish family). How are we taken hostage by Muslims? I think you are confusing being taken hostage by Muslims with being taken hostage by our bigotry and opinions.

      Who is behind this? Ourselves.

Question to ask is why the supporters of the Islamic center in lower Manhattan are so adamant about building it there and not some place else as proposed by Governor Patterson. What makes this site as dear to them as Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia or Temple Mountain in Jerusalem? The answer is clear. This is the site where the modern-time prophet Mohammed Atta and his followers delivered a remarkable blow to the infidel. Bloomberg and Obama may think that building the center would make Manhattan safer. I do not believe so. Inevitably the activities of that center will offend New Yorkers and the rest of the nation to a degree that would make it an issue in every election. This, eventually, will lead to the closing of the center, causing the outrage of the Muslim community that will be much stronger then the outrage at the ban on constructing the center.

Then why on Park Place, two and half blocks away from the forrmer World Trade Center Site rather than closer? There are plenty of open buildings down here. In fact, I'm looking out my window overlooking the WTC Site at for rent signs. The building is next to an Amish Market with the best hot buffett in lower Manhattan – walk by it weekly. I would love to use their pool after work. Since it's open to the public and private pools are very expensive, getting a membership is goig to work out nicely for the workers of the financial district that enjoy swimming.

    Once again: Exercising free speech!!!

Is Eboo Patel is working for a better world or has he found a way to make money from the inherent sordid nature of Islam and the worst book ever written aka the koran?

    e.g.

Mr. Patel pays himself well ($120,000/yr) from his Interfaith Youth Core "non-profit" group's receipts (donations etc.) which, based on the group's IRS Form 990, appears to be more of a stock holding company ($2,335,960 portfolio in 2008- guidestar.org) for Mr. Patel than it is a non-profit. Non-profits do not pay taxes on dividends, interest or capital gains.

Did Eboo Patel's Interfaith Youth Core work for Obama's election campaign as we see Eboo is not only on the recent Chicago Council of Global Affairs' task force but also on Obama's Faith advisory council?

Did a Faith Initiative grant from the State Department help defray the cost of CCOGA's report and Mr. Patel's task force pay?

Put this all together and it vitiates any pro-Islamic commentary Mr. Patel might have now or in the future.

The Political hypocrisy of Mr. Eboo Patel and President Obama brings to my mind the following brilliant description of hypocrisy by W.Somerset Maugham (1874-1965) in his famous novel ‘Cakes and Ale’: “Hypocrisy is the most difficult and nerve-wracking vice that any man can pursue; it needs an unceasing vigilance and a rare detachment of spirit. It cannot, like adultery or gluttony, be practiced at spare moments; it is a Full time job".

Substitute the word "hyposcrisy" for "Taqquia" which Moderates use and you will get the same result.

Hey all Secular Indians reading this blog:

Now you can see your traitor from India, Eboo Patel, on TV supporting his fellow Muslims.

Have you ever seen him defending India or any Indians anywhere on TV? This Muslim convert from Hinduism is now stabbing India in tge back. All he cares about are Islam and Muslims.

So for every American, let this be a lesson. The moment any one of your fellow Americans converts to Islam, he will from then on not care a damn about America if there is a conflict between What the American law tells him and what Isalmic Law tells him. He will always care about Islam first and America second. That has what has happened to India.

We first saw this with Fareed Zakharia, another Muslim from India who never defended India in such vocal terms against the Muslm Attacks and Violence from Pakistanis. But now that his little Mosque is being questioned, he is all Muslim all the time.

Watch out for this pattern to rpeat throughout your life. I have seen it first hand in India and now i am beginning to see it in America. Keep your eyes open. More to come.

If being religious means that the believer is not loyal to his/her country, then we should throw out all Christians, Jews, Muslims, and anyone else who put their god above the laws of their country.

I guess you'll have to go, SR. You don't like this country enough.
      bye.

      Oh please,

They didn't leave India for the gutter – where it's headed anyways by the likes of you – because they became Muslim.
They don't care about it because they became AMERICAN (which means giving up allegiance to any other nation – including your India).
They work to make AMERICA better – that's what they call home and that's what they work to fix all of the time.

And on a side note, it seems to be that every Indian dreams of coming to America to get out of that dump and once they do, they could care less about their mother India.

I don't know of any hindu law that is supreme over secular law. But sharia has plenty of conflicts with US law. Wait until you see Sharia law in action in some parts of US. My fun watching Secularists scream is just beginning.

If you think I am using Hyperbole when calling Eboo Patel and other articulatel elites of Islam, please understand where I see us going in America. If you think guys like Eboo Patel will lift a finger to put down Islam, you are mistaken. When it comes to Islam, every insane act is "sacred".

If you don't believe me, check out this article in India. This kind of Talibanization of all Western countries is coming. Guys like Eboo are the softer face of such fascism.

We shouldn't throw anybody out unless they really don't belong here. How can you ask people to put aside their religion for any country???
You need to get your priorites straight. A belief in God should not be a black mark against citizenship. You can't deport everyone you disagree with, even though I bet you'd like to.

USA is a country of peace and fariness??? American citizens have so much available to them in terms of quality of life yet there is cops brutalizing citizens on a daily basis (cops after Katrina, subway killing of an innocent, punching a lady for j-walking). Systematic rape of children in Catholic churches throughout the US, young women being forced to marry and leaders of certain groups taking more than one wife. Children being molested daily (pick any paper and any week of news to see evidence of this). School shootings, robberies, theft, cheating politicians. The destruction of the environment due to the high demand of Oil in the US, the occupation of countless countries, millions of innocent men and women killed all over the world in the name of American freedom.
Sorry Reality but any group, country, religion, sect, race, etc. can be villanized if you focus on the negative. How about instead of telling me the horrible things that a couple million Muslims are doing across the world tell me instead what the other 1.4 billion Muslims are doing? I'm sure you will come up with something colourful yet untruthful as you usually do. I know why you're so mad, your daughter came home with a Muslim boy right? It's okay, things will be alright buddy, hehe.

Islam is a religion of peace?? Infi-dels are all getting very tired of that statement as seen from the following type of news almost on a 24/7 basis:

Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) – The Taliban sto-ned to death a man and a woman in northern Afghanistan for allegedly having an affair, officials said Monday.

The stoning took place Sunday in Dasht-e-Archi district, in the village of Mullah Qali – a village dominated by the Taliban in Kunduz province.

The pair was accused of having an illi-cit se-xual relationship, a spokesman for the Kunduz governor said.

The woman was about 20 years old and the man was about 27, said Mohammed Ayuob, district governor of Amam Sahib, which is also in Kunduz province.

The woman was engaged, and the man was married to another woman. The two had been held by the Taliban for about a week, Ayuob said.

No doubt the stoning instructions came from an imam spouting mythical koranic tales from some mosque prayer room!!
