Armed Christian militia pulls support for 'Burn a Quran' event

An armed Christian organization which had pledged to protect a Florida church as it holds "International Burn a Quran Day" withdrew its support from the event Wednesday, saying it "does not glorify God," according to a posting on its website.

Right Wing Extreme, which describes itself as a Christian conservative group, also said in the posting it is asking the Dove World Outreach Center, based in Gainesville, Florida, not to hold the event "for the reason that it may diminish the work of the Holy Spirit to witness to Muslims." The event is planned for the ninth anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks.

It is written: "The Shoe Must Go On."
Do not confuse this with the anti-shoe "footist" propaganda that says the Shoe must come off.
Only the soles of the straight-laced will be saved at the coming of the Steel-Toed Boot.
May you all tread lightly on the true path.

Not that Reality needs defending (he can post for himself), but everybody is biased and semi-educated. It's called being subjective. You provide a good example with your post.
As for orthodox, you'll have to clarify that....and as for racist, I expect everybody to pull together when the Earth is attacked by extraterrestrials.
      That goes for you, too.

And the solution? The Five Step Program to Deprogram 1400 Years of Islamic Myths!!!!!
      A copy is attached:

Using "The 77 Branches of Islamic "faith" a collection compiled by Imam Bayhaqi as a starting point. In it, he explains the essential virtues that reflect true "faith" (iman) through related Qur’anic verses and Prophetic sayings." i.e. a nice summary of the Koran and Islamic beliefs.

      "1. Belief in Allah"

aka as God, Yahweh, Zeus, Jehovah, Mother Nature, etc. should be added to your cleansing neurons.

"2. To believe that everything other than Allah was non-existent. Thereafter, Allah Most High created these things and subsequently they came into existence."

Evolution and the Big Bang or the "Gi-b G-nab" (when the universe starts to recycle) are more plausible and the "akas" for Allah should be included if you continue to be a "crea-tionist".

"3. To believe in the existence of angels."

A major item for neuron cleansing. Angels/de-vils are the mythical creations of ancient civilizations, e.g. Hitt-ites, to explain/define natural events, contacts with their gods, big birds, sudden winds, protectors during the dark nights, etc.

No "pretty/ug-ly wingy thingies" ever visited or talked to Mohammed, Jesus, Mary or Joseph or Joe Smith. Today we would classify angels as f–airies and "tin–ker be-lls". Modern de-vils are classified as the de-mons of the de-mented.

"4. To believe that all the heavenly books that were sent to the different prophets are true. However, apart from the Quran, all other books are not valid anymore."

Another major item to delete. There are no books written in the spirit state of Heaven (if there is one) just as there are no angels to write/publish/distribute them. The Koran, OT, NT etc. are simply books written by humans for humans.
Prophets were invented by ancient scribes typically to keep the un-educated masses in line. Today we call them for-tune tellers.

Prophecies are also invali-dated by the natural/God/Allah gifts of Free Will and Future.

"5. To believe that all the prophets are true. However, we are commanded to follow the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) alone."

Mohammed spent thirty days fasting in a hot cave before his first contact with Allah aka God etc. via a "pretty wingy thingy". Common sense demands a neuron deletion of #5. #5 is also the major source of Islamic vi-olence i.e. turning Mohammed's "fast, hunger-driven" hallu-cinations into horrible reality for unbelievers.

Accept these five "cleansers" and we guarantee a complete recovery from your Islamic ways!!!!

Analogous Five Step Programs for Deprograming Christianity and also Judaism are available at no cost.

    Burning show hatred....
I think if you peed on the Koran in public with pictures, you would show more contempt which is what many have for
a book the supposedly promotes "peace and love"
Christianity does not have to say that all religions are equal or have to be treated equally.
Jesus said I AM the way the truth the life.. No one comes to the father except thru ( or by) me.
He also said you must be born again,
Now since both of His sayings are truth, and the foundations of where our belief begins, we must denounce all those who claim to be equal with Christ.... or any human who claims to speak for God other than those who are chosen by God to do so.
There is room for all who wish to accept Christ by faith alone. All others will be separated from God forever,.
Burning a Koran accomplishes nothing, Yet Christ thru the money changers out of the temple.
We who believe on Christ must continue to preach the Gospel and nothing else.

Did you know there are over 1,000 different Christian denominations? Each can show you scripture where they are best loved by Jesus. Many believe their members will be saved while the others are damned.

Ok, i'll say it. This has more to do with RELIGION as as a whole that opposition to the Quran. Reasonable people who don't claim to know with certainty the answer to the question of "everything" (what happens when we die, what created the universe etc) don't bother to get this worked up over someone else's beliefs. Simply said, religious wars, religious persecution, religious fundamentalism all has one thing in common... RELIGION.... My sincere wish is that people will give up foolish notions about the sanctity of one supposed sacred book or another and the belief systems created and enforced around these text (written by men) and focus on activities that would make this place we share somehow not so hard for so many. Unfortunately I don't think there is a chance in hell that will ever happen.

Christian should have nothing to do with Quran, let alone burn it. Quran is not for people believe in Jesus Christ, son of God. I don't know why a Christian church want to burn it. It is sign of hate to the wrong direction. Christian should rather stay strong effort and bring all the Christian together. Burn some other people's religion book does not brink Christian together and rather divided. Granted, no one in the world can bring Christian together except Jesus Christ alone. Jesus, please come and get us back together and take the evil out of us and become spirit and not flesh an blood.

Just call up some Southern Baptists to replace them. I am, unfortunately, very familiar with the Southern Baptist religion from being dragged there for the first 18 years of my life. They definitely believe Islam leads people to hell. It's still amazes me that they can't see that if they had been raised by Muslims, they would be taking that religious argument to their grave instead of the Christian one – people typically will take the religion they are raised in to their grave. There are exceptions – I am one of them (an atheist). A "God of Love" isn't going to send some to hell for doing something most humans will do – take the religious argument presented to them as a kid to their grave.

      @just2reason

You are right about taking your parent's religion. The other big factor is where you live. If those Baptists were in Iran, they would be shouting "Allahu Akbar".

Funny part is, no child is born a Baptist, Catholic, Muslim etc. People begin to indoctrinate their kids almost at birth.

They have found tribes in rain forests, that have had little or no outside contact. The tribes worship nature.

The gods are an invention of men. Cheers!

  11. stop the vile attacks of your extremists

The path to mutual goodwill definitely does not lie alongside acts of hatred. If you want to burn Qur`an, why won't Muslims burn Bibles? If you want to stop us from building mosques, why won't Muslims stop you from building churches? You say that you follow Jesus, but whose holy books did Jesus burn? Jesus is after all mentioned in Holy Qur`an. If moderate Christians allow extremist Christians to speak for them, then there is no hope of peace.Do you want to compare Christian atrocities with Muslim atrocities? Do you want to compete with the worst people of the Muslim community in committing acts of hatred and vile ignorance? If we do that, will that lead to peace? If you heap insult after insult on us, atrocity after atrocity against us, then what exactly do you expect will be the result? The only possible aim that I can see is that you want to murder us and blot out our memory from your own minds, which is satanic and not Christian–if your version Christianity includes wantonly shedding blood and baiting other religions with vile and despicable acts, then perhaps that is not the same Christianity brought by Jesus. Another thing to consider. There are extremist Muslims who are doing terrible things. If you attack that vile community with acts that offend all Muslims, what do you expect as a result? To build peace, be nice.

Some of the comments here are rooted in fear and ignorance. How dare you claim to understand the motives of a religion because you have a list of 15 bad things they did? Do you not see the hypocrisy of your own argument? It's ok for Christians to have a legacy that includes events that are as despicable as those on your list, but if someone else tries it, then that religion is a dangerous sham? What you people collectively know about Islam would fill an atom sized piece of toilet paper, and you use that tiny piece of information to cast judgement on an entire group of people. Maybe what you should try to do is glorify God and stop trying to interpret a religion you could never know anything about.

Islam is NOT the religion of peace. To state it mildly, the religion wants its followers to kill others to ensure salvation.
Christianity is the ONLY religion of peace. Jesus rewrote old testament laws of blood with love and forgiveness.

Radical Islam is capable of monstrous acts. So too was Radical Christianity at various stages (notable examples, the Inquisition, crusades, burning witches, various wars, etc.). To suggest that Islam is inherently bad because of today's radical Islamic acts is as flawed as if the Druids claimed that Christianity was inherently bad because of all the past horrors that Radical Christianity encouraged and allowed. Don't be so myopic and forget Christianity's history and how perverted any faith, any book, any belief can become.

I think there's a lot of that same, old-fashioned crusader spirit behind the Conservative Christian Right's demonization of all of Islam. Roger Bacon condemned the crusades saying "those (Muslims) who survive, together with their children, are more and more embittered against the Christian faith." How much does Western condemnation actually contribute to the problem? They're just making it easier to recruit people into terrorist organizations.

Sir Steven Runciman said "High ideals were besmirched by cruelty and greed ... the Holy War was nothing more than a long act of intolerance in the name of God". This bring to mind the story of the Fourth Crusade where the good christians opted to attack fellow christians in order to pay their depts. Now that was sticking it to the Muslims in the name of God! One also has to wonder how much of this stems from greed over oil and control over the Holy Land?

The koran promotes hatred and murder. Cutting off the hands of thieves, stoning women, and giving women less rights then men. Christianity does not promote any or these things in fact it is 100 percent against it. The Crusades were a movement to protect Christians and christian properties in the holy land when the Muslims were driving them out. Don't believe shottey theories of history just because it is quoted by morons like Bill Clinton. Once again, it is the Muslims who should burn their copies of the koran for the 1400 year old con job that is pulled on them daily by their imams and ayatollahs. Christians should burn their copies of the NT for the 2000 year old con job that has been perpetuated on them by popes, bishops, priests, ministers and evangelicals. And Jews should burn their copies of the OT/Torah for the 6000 year old con job pulled on them by their past and current rabbis.

      Abdulrasheed,

Islam is a religion of peace? Acts of contemporary, koranic-driven terror speak much louder than your words:

      1a) 179 killed in Mumbai/Bombay, 290 injured

1b) Assassination of Benazir Bhutto and Theo Van Gogh

      2) 9/11, 3000 mostly US citizens, 1000’s injured

      3) The 24/7 Sunni-Shiite centuries-old blood feud currently being carried out in Iraq, US Troops killed in action, 3,481 and 924 died in non-combat, 97,172 – 106,047 Iraqi civilians killed as of 8/10/2010

      4) Kenya- In Nairobi, about 212 people were killed and an estimated 4000 injured; in Dar es Salaam, the attack killed at least 11 and wounded 85.[2]

      5) Bali-in 2002-killing 202 people, 164 of whom were foreign nationals, and 38 Indonesian citizens. A further 209 people were injured.

      6) Bali in 2005- Twenty people were killed, and 129 people were injured by three bombers who killed themselves in the attacks.

      7) Spain in 2004- killing 191 people and wounding 2,050.

      8. UK in 2005- The bombings killed 52 commuters and the four radical Islamic suicide bombers, injured 700.

      9) The execution of an eloping couple in Afghanistan on 04/15/2009 by the Taliban.

      10) Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan: US troops killed in action 1,116 killed in action, 902killed in non-combat situations as of 08/10/2010. 40,000 Afghan civilians have been killed due to the dark age, koranic-driven terror of the Taliban.

      11) The killing of 13 citizen soldiers at Ft. Hood by a follower of the koran.

      12) 38 Russian citizens killed on March 29, 2010 by Muslim women suicide bombers.

      13) The May 28, 2010 attack on a Islamic religious minority in Pakistan, which have left 98 dead,

      14) Lockerbie is known internationally as the site where, on 21 December 1988, the wreckage of Pan Am Flight 103 crashed as a result of a terrorist bomb. In the United Kingdom the event is referred to as the Lockerbie disaster, the Lockerbie bombing, or simply Lockerbie. Eleven townspeople were killed in Sherwood Crescent, where the plane's wings and fuel tanks plummeted in a fiery explosion, destroying several houses and leaving a huge crater, with debris causing damage to a number of buildings nearby. The 270 fatalities (259 on the plane, 11 in Lockerbie) were citizens of 21 nations

      15) Followed by the daily suicide and/or roadside and/or mosque bombings every day in the terror world of Islam.

      – Sa-dd-am, his sons and major he-nchmen have been deleted. Sa-dd-am's bravado about WMD was one of his major mistakes. Kuwait was saved.

      – Iran is being been contained. (beside containing the Sunni-Shiite civil war in Baghdad, that is the main reason we are in Iraq. And yes, essential oil continues to flow from the region.)

      – Libya has become almost civil. Recently Libya agreed to pay $1.5 billion to the victims of their terrorist activities. Apparently this new reality from an Islamic country has upset OBL and his “cra-zies” as they have thre-atened Libya. OBL sure is a di-sgrace to the world especially the Moslem world!!! Or is he???

      – North Korea is still u-ncivil but is contained.

      – Northern Ireland is finally at peace.

      – The Jews and Palestinians are being separated by walls. Hopefully the walls will follow the 1948 UN accords. Unfortunately the Annapolis Peace Conference was not successful. And unfortunately the recent events in Gaza has put this situation back to “squ-are one”. And this significant stupidity is driven by the mythical foundations of both religions!!!

      – Bin La-d-en has been cornered under a rock in Western Pakistan since 9/11.

      – Fa-na–tical Islam has basically been contained to the Middle East but a wall between India and Pakistan would be a plus for world peace. Ditto for a wall between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

      – Timothy McVeigh was exe-cuted. Terry Nichols will follow soon.

      – Eric Ru-dolph is spending three life terms in pri-son with no par-ole.

      – Jim Jones, David Koresh, Kaczynski, the "nuns" from Rwanda, and the KKK were all dealt with and either eliminated themselves or are being punished.

      – Islamic Sudan, Dar-fur and So-malia are still terror hot spots.

      – The terror and tor-ture of Muslims in Bosnia, Kosovo and Kuwait were ended by the proper application of the military forces of the USA and her freedom-loving friends. Ra-dovan Karadzic was finally captured on 7/23/08 and is charged with genocide, crimes against humanity and violations of the law of war – charges related to the 1992-1995 civil war that followed Bosnia-Herzegovina's secession from Yugoslavia.

      – And of course the bloody terror brought about the Ja-panese, Na-zis and Co-mmunists was with great difficulty eliminated by the good guys.

Is there any place on this earth, Christianity went there and did not bring death and destruction? Look what you did to Africa, to American natives everywhere around the world everyday a Christian force (mostly US nowadays) murdering innocent civilians! Where were you when 200.000 Muslim civilians butchered by Christian Serbians? What about Sabra and Shatilla refugee camp massacres? You don’t seem to lose any sleep when Israel bombs UN hospitals and killing hundreds of children in Gaza. And what about Salem witch trials? Do you know how many people have been accused of being witch and burned alive? 24 million!
The real truth is Muslim life (or Hindu, Buddhist, you name it) does not have any value for Christians. Christianity is the most violent religion on earth killing more people than even great plague.
You not knowing your own history does not mean it did not happen; it only means you are an ignorant moron!
Also, seeing that you have so much time on hand to write all of these, you must be a loser.

Reality must understand meanings of reality. Life is obedience of ALLAH. Holy Torrah, Holy Injeel (Bible) and Holy Quran were revealed upon Prophets. Common men witnessed miracles by those blessed with Prophet hood. Reality must waste time to once understand these Holy Books and follow Islam.

I find it odd that you are the most ardent atheist I have ever come across on internet, and yet you are the least convincing.

Just food for thought: A nod ilicits a nod, a smile inoculates a smile. To lead, you walk your way with joy and invite without a turn or a frown.

      @ Reality
Regarding your 14 points about Islam being a religion of terror and all those points describing the actions of people.
To judge a religion don't look at the people but look at the scriptures. There you will find the truth of what the religion is all about. Honestly, don't listen to the media. They live on manipulating the minds of people. Stop being lazy and do your own research. One verse of the Holy Quran can prove that Islam does not condone any of the 14 points or any violent act against an innocent person(s) for that matter: "For that cause We decreed for the Children of Israel that whosoever killeth a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind. Our messengers came unto them of old with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but afterwards lo! many of them became prodigals in the earth." Holy Quran, Al-Maeda Chapter 5, Verse 32
Clearly Allah doesn't command us to kill innocent people but he wants us to save them. To save a single innocent person is as if you've saved all of humanity.
May God guide us to the straight path and peace be upon all of you.

Look, if you have the right to choose your religion, then I have the same right.
I am a muslim, and muslims believe in the other two religions as well, and believe in all prophets, so burning the Quran – although being a very stupid and dangerous move – is not going to give any of us the impression that we are wrong.
Having terrorists attacking US before is sad, and I have never thought it was right, and never will.
Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and his fellow leaders have always warned not to touch women, children or seniors while at war. This is the real peace.
I petty such a mind thinking of burning Quran is going to get a message across, because all what you are doing then will be getting more lunatic terrorists into your country..
I really wonder how such pathetic thinking come from. You are hurting your own self, and bringing more danger to your own country, because you're afraid of Islam. Go and read about it first, then make your own decision.
May God guide you to the right path..

Islam is not a religion of peace, however, burning a Koran is not exactly peaceful and tolerance. Both sides need to realize their own ignorance.

Public in USA and EU remained under impression that Islam is terrorist religion. Whereas people in Iraq, Palestine,Afghanistan, Pakistan etc were victimized by terrorists. Does it make sense? If now any Church has started provoking Christians to Burn Holy Quran this is hight of Frustration that Political and Military Leadership of USA and EU has no other agenda for creating another CRISIS in the world. Burning of Holy Quran without understanding holy Quran is sign of inviting disaster inside USA and EU. Muslims must understand that those who wanted to kill Muhammad (SAWW) when embraced Islam after hearing or understanding the Holy Quran became Rulers of unlimited boundaries of First (REAL) Islamic state.

@ Tasneem....What you have to understand is that this guy who is burning Qurans and all his followers, are not political or religious leaders. They are a bunch of misguided, hateful people. We cannot stop burning of Qurans in this country, as that is what living in a free society entails, freedom of speech, etc. That doesn't mean we all condone what he's doing, it just means that he is free to say what he wants and burn a few Qurans. Hopefully, Muslims don't think he's representative for most Americans or for most Christians for that matter, because he isn't.

Most world crimes like WWI WWII the Holocaust, the Crusade were not done by Muslims. Actually Muslims protected Jews in Spain where they were mistreated by Christians, and they protected the Christian Churches in Palestine when they controlled them. And even the terrorist Ben Laden doesn’t curse Jesus, rather he respect him

you know they are not human . holy quran is only a book but it has a high spiritual value. the saver of holy quran is god. holy quran is not a simple book that every one or scientist write such a book. i guarantee that no one can proof that this or that word of holy quaran is wrong.this people doesn't understand the meaning of life and their life is for nothing. i ask them a question . if you think that god doesn't exist then why the humans are not like other animals why your mouth is not in your chest or eye or nose or ear . it means that god exists and you must believe in him.do not deceit to mony or these small science . the real science is that that have been created you and this big world . if you put some iron and other elements in a place for thousand of years it wont become a thing that can move or talk then how this big world can be created it salve . believe in god and do not do this again it is for you goodness and i swear that something bad will happen on you.
