South Carolina mosque defaced with bacon

From CNN South Carolina affiliate WMBF:

A national Muslim civil rights and advocacy group is calling on the FBI to investigate a message written in bacon at mosque in Florence.

Three chair members of the Islamic Center in Florence discovered the words "pig" and "chump" written in strips of bacon on the walkway along the mosque Sunday afternoon.

    I'd really like to see how *you* would react when someone decides they don't like you. Maybe because someone of the same religion that you don't know, never met and don't even live in the same country as does something. Then these people decide to start harassing you and vandalizing your property, home, church. Seriously how is that OK in the USA.

    Some of these posters are no better than animals.

    Surprise, you are in South Carolina. The world most intolerant, moron, and stinky place.

    • CB

      You are intolerant, ignorant, and obviously have never been there.

      I laughed as well ..up to the point where I realized the FBI was being paid out of my tax dollars and being taken off investigating *actual crimes* to go hunt bacon perps. Can we send the bill to this mosque?

    You see...they should have left the whole pig for them to use for a BBQ! That wasn't to neighborly! We don't want you here in this country...get the picture!

    Yet another cowardly act by a group of ignorant fools towards members of a peaceful religion. Remember, individuals are the ones that we need to be aware of, not all the members of Islam. As for anyone comparing this to Bible burning, let's go burn a few and see how the American public reacts. By the way Jeff, pigs are one of the cleanest animals out there, they just don't fit your definition of clean.

      You obviously know nothing of their religeon – educate yourself, you are ignorant now, and of their HISTORY.

      Cowardly Act? Hardly...I think Hi-jacking airplanes and killing innocent people is a cowardly act. Or Going to a crowded Super market and blowing eveyone up is a cowardly act. Killing your own child "honor killing" is a cowardly act....get real...

      @gpl2032
      I agree, those acts are cowardly and heinous, but what does that have to do with these folks in S.C? They didn't do any of that.

    People forget what made this country great. It sure wasn't by worrying about hurting someones feelings or bowing down to another country. When are americans going to stop putting up with this BS.

    October 14, 2010 at 12:14 pm |
    • Tracy

      Since the people that had their windows broken and their sidewalks littered are (more than likely) American where are you getting bowing down from?

      Since when is it OK in the USA to vandalize people's property. And a house of worship no less.

      October 14, 2010 at 12:16 pm |
    • AGeek

      @Tracy: you worship on the sidewalk? interesting. would you deem it similarly defaced if a bird dropped an egg while flying over? Get over it, put on your big girl panties, and join the rest of us dealing with *actual* problems.

      October 14, 2010 at 12:40 pm |
    • Tracy

      Ageek – if someone scattered something disgusting on the sidewalk in front of your church you'd be upset too.

      Apparently Muslims have to just take it. And some broken windows also.

    Silly Christians. Bacon's for eating!

    October 14, 2010 at 12:13 pm |

      Why would it have to be a Christian who did it? Maybe it was a woman from there who was sick, of being told to cover up, shut up, and be my woman slave. Get a grip.

    As an American Muslim, I can say I'm disappointed, though certainly not surprised. I just can't understand the need to be so blatantly hateful.

    October 14, 2010 at 12:12 pm |
    • Roger

      but it's ok for you muslims to be blatantly hateful....death to American blah blah blah. Since America is the devil...what are you people doing here?

      October 14, 2010 at 12:19 pm |
    • CB

      You should, your book teaches hate and death to anyone who isn't believing like you.

      @CB

      So does the Bible.

      October 14, 2010 at 12:28 pm |

      I know .. the blatant hatred is utterly mindboggling. I'd never expect such a reaction to a cartoon or simple drawing ..or to a woman leaving her face uncovered.

      @AGeek – Does the KK speak for you (assuming you're white)? Do the Black Panthers speak for you (should you be black)? Does the Jewish Defense League speak for you (you might be Jewish)? Does the Irish Republican Army speak for you (on the chance you might be Catholic)?

      World of Warcraft version 4.0.1 just hit the street. If you read the forums you might assume that everyon that plays it now hates it for the drastic changes made. What you're actually seeing is the 1500 or so more vocal people venting their frustrations or their apologetics. The other 11, 998, 500 people are playing the game and getting on with their life.

      Roger, you do understand that these are fellow American citizens. The vast majority of them being born here and raised with American ideals and values. What a hate filled group in Pakistan does has as much to do with them as it does with you. You are preaching hatred against your own people.

      October 14, 2010 at 4:45 pm |
    • Nonimus

      @Roger
      Since America guarantees Muslims, and all other religions, the right to be here, what are *you* doing here?

      October 14, 2010 at 5:09 pm |
  14. Tracy

    Did anyone actually read the article? This is the second issue. The last time someone broke a bunch of their windows. I'd have called the cops too. The cops probably brought in the FBI.

    And I fail to see how these particular people are beheading anyone, or setting off IEDs etc. More than likely most of them were born in the USA.

      I think that when a lot of Americans,after 9-11, found that these people who flew those planes into the various places including the trade center, were frequenting bars, drinking with Americans,educated in one case in American colleges and attended flight school with some as friends, changed the way of thinking. It will take many years of government force feeding to change some of the thinking.Remember, everyone of them was here in our country, not some where else.

    October 14, 2010 at 12:08 pm |

    yes the Bible also states that we are no longer under the Law of Moses. Continue reading........John says all things are lawful for me, just not necessarily good for me. For if it makes my brother stumble.......

    So as a Christian I can and do eat bacon freely.......

      Not made up at all. The left hand is traditionally used for this purpose. The right hand is for eating.

    By the way, in America, you have the right to drop bacon on a sidewalk. In Iran, you are punished. I believe a lot of people have reversed their thinking. There is nothing about this that was criminal. Any call to the FBI should have been ignored. It is a waste of our tax money. For some strange reason, people are so afraid of offending Muslims, yet TV shows can poke fun at Christianity whenever and however they choose. Perhaps that tells you something. If someone burns a Bible, people think it's strange. If someone burns a Quran or drops bacon, the FBI and the President and CNN have to make statements. Maybe we should look at Germany and France before opening our arms to Islam culture (not the freedom to be Muslim, that is protected). The Jewish kids go to school and don't eat pork; they don't disallow pork in the school. There's a big difference. This story is absolutely not newsworthy, and I just wasted 2 minutes commenting.
