President Obama's Hanukkah Celebration

Editor's Note: CNN White House Producer Becky Brittain files this report from Washington on CNN's White House blog The 1600 Report.

The President and First Lady hosted a little gathering Thursday night in the East Room to celebrate Hanukkah.

Included on the list of 500 guests, one-third of the Supreme Court justices- Breyer, Ginsburg, and Kagan. Several Jewish members of Congress and other elected officials and members of the military were there too.

The menorah for the event was loaned to the White House by New Orleans's Congregation Beth Israel. It was one of very few items to survive Hurricane Katrina. It was found by cleanup crews in horrible condition but was restored and re-lit for the first time three years ago.

Click on the video link above to see all of President Obama's remarks.

      In such case he had no choice but to attend the celebration like it or not;

      Saving Muslims is quite easy!!!

The Five Steps To Deprogram 1400 Years of Islamic Myths:

( –The Steps take less than two minutes to finish- simply amazing, two minutes to bring peace and rationality to over one billion lost souls- Priceless!!!)

      Are you ready?

Using "The 77 Branches of Islamic "faith" a collection compiled by Imam Bayhaqi as a starting point. In it, he explains the essential virtues that reflect true "faith" (iman) through related Qur’anic verses and Prophetic sayings." i.e. a nice summary of the Koran and Islamic beliefs.

      "1. Belief in Allah"

aka as God, Yahweh, Zeus, Jehovah, Mother Nature, etc. should be added to your cleansing neurons.

"2. To believe that everything other than Allah was non-existent. Thereafter, Allah Most High created these things and subsequently they came into existence."

Evolution and the Big Bang or the "Gi-b G-nab" (when the universe starts to recycle) are more plausible and the "akas" for Allah should be included if you continue to be a "crea-tionist".

"3. To believe in the existence of angels."

A major item for neuron cleansing. Angels/de-vils are the mythical creations of ancient civilizations, e.g. Hitt-ites, to explain/define natural events, contacts with their gods, big birds, sudden winds, protectors during the dark nights, etc. No "pretty/ug-ly wingy thingies" ever visited or talked to Mohammed, Jesus, Mary or Joseph or Joe Smith. Today we would classify angels as f–airies and "tin–ker be-lls". Modern de-vils are classified as the de-mons of the de-mented.

"4. To believe that all the heavenly books that were sent to the different prophets are true. However, apart from the Quran, all other books are not valid anymore."

Another major item to delete. There are no books written in the spirit state of Heaven (if there is one) just as there are no angels to write/publish/distribute them. The Koran, OT, NT etc. are simply books written by humans for humans.

Prophets were invented by ancient scribes typically to keep the un-educated masses in line. Today we call them for-tune tellers.

Prophecies are also invali-dated by the natural/God/Allah gifts of Free Will and Future.

"5. To believe that all the prophets are true. However, we are commanded to follow the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) alone."

Mohammed spent thirty days "fasting" (the Ramadan legend) in a hot cave before his first contact with Allah aka God etc. via a "pretty wingy thingy". Common sense demands a neuron deletion of #5. #5 is also the major source of Islamic vi-olence i.e. turning Mohammed's "fast, hunger-driven" hallu-cinations into horrible reality for unbelievers.

Walk these Five Steps and we guarantee a complete recovery from your Islamic ways!!!!

Religion is not evil. Unfortunately it has been taken over by profiteers using mystical communications with God/Allah/Abraham/Smith et al to convince the "pew or bowing peasants" to monetarily support the profiteers' viewpoints. Take away the "prophets/prophecies/fortune tellers", the "pretty wingie talking thingies", the "demons of the demented" and basically what you have left are the Twelve Commandments (eight if you are an atheist), nothing more and nothing less. These Commandments were first formulated by the ancient Egyptians, Cynics and Babylonians using reasoning and common sense They are the only necessary keys to the spirit state of Heaven (if there is one).

The solution: Delete the flaws in the OT/torah and koran and "pink slip" all the "red-neck" rabbis and imams. "Pink-slipping" all the "red neck" Christian preachers, "profits" and priests is also part of the solution.

As an agnostic I would probably choose judisim or buddism. I grew up in a jewish neib hood in Austin Tx. Mike Dell lives their now. The jewish kids I grew up with had great study habbits their parents were all business owners,Doctors or Lawyers. None of them were religious just studious, hardworking very productive Americans then and are still to this day.

As for President Obama, I am becoming more convinced as time goes by that he is not acting in the best interests of this country.
In fact, I'm convinced he is just another sell-out politician.

The proof is in the pudding. He obviously made a deal with Hillary to cinch the nomination, made a deal with Bush & friends to allow a smooth entrance into the White House, and is just as corrupt as any of them.

His calls for accountability in gov't have been repeatedly shown to be EMPTY PROMISES.
His announcement that his administration would be the most transparent ever are obviously LIES considering how he's going after WikiLeaks on the one hand while refusing to start investigations into the "outing" of Plame, the criminal actions of those within the previous administration, and keeping SO MUCH of the STATUS QUO in place!

Why else did he keep so many Republicans working in the administration? Why else would he keep things going the way they have been?

I am sick of these corrupt politicians who crawl to the tune of the wealthy while making everyone's lives a little harder and more hopeless each day.
I am sick of criminals running things and hiding behind the rules they make while attacking those who seek to bring the truth into the light.
I'm sick of being trolled by the media, those cheap wh0res of the media who are as trapped in their lives as those whose lives they help to ruin and debase.

Obama might have got an "offer he couldn't refuse".
He might actually be trapped in his presidency.
I will help to free him in 2012 if someone better comes along. I am no longer a fan of the President. But no one gives a rip about my one piddly vote anyway. My disgust with corrupt politicians continues.
    Same crap, different day.
Happy Chanukah, religious racists! My menorah joins all the others on the midden heap of history. I will save my candles for emergencies, which we are sure to have thanks to greed, corruption, etc.
    Happy holidays, corrupt politicians!

I know you can afford it, too.

But ... but ... but ... I thought Christians had declared that Christmas was the ONLY holiday on the calendar at this time of the year. There is no Hanukkah, no Kwanzaa, no Thanksgiving, no New Year's Day, no anything except Christmas. Oh wait, I said "holiday," Christians have decided that is no longer allowed, because it's not "holiday," it's "Christmas," and no other name is permitted! Now you're telling me that the president dared celebrate the non-holiday Hannukah.

The Jewish religion is the only one that is racist in root, leaf and branch.
Where else can you find a religion that puts forth a particular ethnic group as being "the chosen people"?

By melding their religion with their ancestry and their "homeland", Jews are simply raw examples of theocratic racism.

If only they were to embrace their humanity instead of their introverted and perverted delusions, they might get more respect as a religious group, might act more intelligently as a country, and might realize that they are just people after all, like the rest of us poor gentiles.

You sound like a true intellectual. Check out what Israel has accomplished in its 62 years as a nation. Now check out what all of the Islamic world has accomplished in centuries. No contest , to the point of being laughable . Now check Muslim nobel prize winners and then check Jewish nobel prize winners-- once again laughable. So please go stuff your complexes and hatred somewhere else You too atre laughable.

      December 5, 2010 at 2:00 am |
    • Seriously?

      @ Dan B.

Are you serious? The inventions of the Muslim world are "laughable?" You realize that it was the Muslim civilization that spurred Italy into its Renaissance? The standard book for medicine, that's still used today was written by a Persian Muslim, Ibn Sina, during the golden-era of Muslim rule. Of course, I'm not denouncing Jewish accomplishments, because there are indeed many. What I find "laughable" is that you would completely slander an entire group of people based on ignorance and false pride. The problems the world, and yes the world, has with Israel, is with its policy towards human rights issues. You see, it would be hypocritical and idiotic of me to recognize the short comings of other nations and not Israel's...just like it's hypocritical and foolish of you to think that Jewish accomplishments outweigh others. There's no contest between members of the Jewish and Muslim faith. Grow up.

Now does this link state this??

  12. Reality

But it is the Immoral Majority who will put BO back into the White House as he continues to support the abortion of one million womb babies every year.

    The Immoral Majority?

The fastest growing USA voting bloc: The 70+ million "Roe vs. Wade mothers and fathers" of aborted womb-babies" whose ranks grow by two million per year.

    And why so many abortions?

The pill fails to protect women 8.7% during the first year of use (Guttmacher Insti-tute data).

    i.e. 0.087 (failure rate)
    x 62 million (# child bearing women)
    x 0.62 ( % of these women using contraception )
    x 0.306 ( % of these using the pill) =
    1,020,000 unplanned pregnancies
during the first year of pill use.

And the abortion rate? ~ one million/yr in the USA

For male condoms (failure rate of 17.4 and 18% use level).

1,200,000 unplanned pregnancies during the first year of male condom use.

The Guttmacher Insti-tute notes also that the perfect use of the pill should result in a 0.3% failure rate
(35,000 unplanned pregnancies) and for the male condom, a 2% failure rate (138,000 unplanned pregnancies).

o Bottom Line: The failures of the widely used birth "control" methods i.e. the pill and male condom have led to the large rate of abortions ( one million/yr) and STDs (19 million/yr) in the USA. Men and women must either recognize their responsibilities by using the pill or condoms properly and/or use other methods in order to reduce the epidemics of abortion and STDs.
