Cardinal Wuerl on John Paul II's reported miraclesBy Eric Marrapodi, CNN Belief Blog Co-Editor Catholics around the world celebrated Friday's announcement of the coming beatification of Pope John Paul II. The former pope was fast-tracked for sainthood by Pope Benedict, who waived the normal five-year waiting period after a person's death to begin the beatification process. Pope Benedict will make the beatification pronouncement at a mass on May 1, 2011. Washington Archbishop Cardinal Donald Wuerl will be among those at the mass. After that, the late pope will be known as "the Blessed John Paul II."
