On Tuesday, the U.S. Central Command said the Adams, along with Philis Macay and Bob Riggle, had been killed by their captors. A U.S. Navy ship had been trailing the captured Americans after their yacht, Quest, was overtaken by pirates on Friday. “As (U.S. forces) responded to the gunfire, reaching and boarding the Quest, the forces discovered all four hostages had been shot by their captors," the statement from U.S. Central Command said. "Despite immediate steps to provide life-saving care, all four hostages ultimately died of their wounds." While their faith may not have played a role in their death, it was a motivating factor for their sailing adventure around the world. But Relevant magazine made a daring move this month when it printed a blogger’s confession about how his addiction to pornography affected his marriage. The blogger is John Buckingham, and he is an English teacher, Relevant says. Buckingham said in the story that his addiction to pornography started when he was 12. He thought it would end after his girlfriend accepted his marriage proposal in early 2010. Yet four months after getting married, Buckingham says he succumbed. He started watching pornography again. Unemployed, we might find ourselves longing for that former job as though it had been ideal, a time of complete self-fulfillment, forgetting how we dragged ourselves there some mornings, hoping for something better to come up. In the middle of an ugly divorce, we might find ourselves longing for the early years of the relationship as though that had been our time in Eden, forgetting the stresses of money, unreliable used cars, in-laws and learning to live together. |
