@Justina – do some research and you will see that the ppl living the longest are not Jewish. Not sure of the place but it is in Europe in the mountains I believe and the high alt-itude combined witht he amount of work (exercise) the ppl there do and there diet make them the society with the longest life span. They even drink one glass of wine and eat butter all the time – they indulge but not over indulge, pretty cool. Also because of the isolation they do not suffer from too much stress like most other ppl.

GSA, I wasn't talking about longevity, and the overall health includes a lot of things other than diet. If Israel wasn't threatened constantly like now, I'm sure their longevity would be much longer. I'm happy for the European mountain dwellers, but their diet must not be too different from that of Jewish, I'm sure.

Jews should learn from Christians on their Messiah and uncondional love.

    • Reality

What we now know about the Christian's "messiah":

Jesus was an illiterate, Jewish, peasant/carpenter/simple preacher man who suffered from hallucinations and who has been characterized anywhere from the Messiah from Nazareth to a mythical character from mythical Nazareth to a ma-mzer from Nazareth (Professor Bruce Chilton, in his book Rabbi Jesus). An-alyses of Jesus’ life by many contemporary NT scholars (e.g. Professors Crossan, Ludemann, Borg and Fredriksen, ) via the NT and related doc-uments have concluded that only about 30% of Jesus' sayings and ways noted in the NT were authentic. The rest being embellishments (e.g. miracles)/hallucinations made/had by the NT authors to impress various Christian, Jewish and Pagan se-cts.

The 30% of the NT that is "authentic Jesus" like everything in life was borrowed/plagiarized and/or improved from those who came before. In Jesus' case, it was the ways and sayings of the Babylonians, Greeks, Persians, Egyptians, Hit-ti-tes, Canaanites, OT, John the Baptizer and possibly the ways and sayings of traveling Greek Cynics.

      @Justina,
Love that's unconditional as long as you don't lie. If you tell your spouse they look as beautiful as the day you met, and don't repent, you will burn in he.ll for eternity. Of course you'll get the same punishment for mass murder, some ra.pe, theft, etc. Slavery though, is fine as long as you treat them 'like a brother'.

      February 24, 2011 at 3:10 pm |
    • Justina

Reality, Nonimus, both of you posted your own bizarre imaginations but those won't be taken by anyone because there are always people who learn with authenticity. I feel sorry for you that you have to talk about things you have no idea about.
Reality, you won't get my replies unless you write something meaningful AND in less than 3 lines. I usually don't read lengthy trash.

Justina come on what happened to unconditional love? Also you state that people do not take the time to learn authenicity..your beliefs are just that , you have no proof any of it is real. Have you honestly taken the time to look at evolution for yourself ..not what you are told..but to get the facts and then try to prove them wrong? I have stated that I would be willing to change my mind on god if there was an experiment to grow a limb on an amputee in full view.. after or during a prayer session and it happened instantly and was fully doc-um-ented by science..it would at least prove some supreme being which we could call god. Now.. what would you be willing to tell us would convince you that god did not exist ..I am not closed minded.. are you?

      February 25, 2011 at 12:32 am |
    • Justina

EvolvedDNA, everytime I'm astonished because... Why do you atheists regard other people's factual statements as hate speeches when in fact atheists throw real hate speeches to believers all the time? The theory of evolution has been proven wrong; I'm sorry if you had graduated high school in 19th centrury. Look into the mechanism of your own single cell, the sheer amount of DNA. If you believe those can happen to exist naturally without a Creator, you are too blindly religious about evolution that any discussion is futile. If an earthquake ever build up a house, let me know; that will prove evolution and I'm open-minded, too.

      February 25, 2011 at 4:56 am |
    • Evolved DNA

Justina..Evolution has not been proven wrong. you have been misinformed. There is a lot of information on it but it is something that I think may may have trouble understanding. You tend to make knee jerk statements that are not backed up by any evidence.. such as..there is no example of a good atheist now or at any time in history..you cannot make statements like that and expect to be taken seriously...sorry

      February 25, 2011 at 10:48 am |
    • Evolved DNA

Justina.. the fact that you think that an earthquake will build a house is testimony to your understanding of evolution. One can ask.. who made god.. and then who made him/her and so on...Not sure about the comments on 19 century education fits into this? You still sound a little aggressive regarding opposing views and i think it could be that you have no facts to back up your claims..At the end of the day we are all the same.. you have anger, as we all do, you find other religions to be intolerant to your views, and in fact you are a human being.. we all live and some appear a little scared of scientific understanding of the world...if you think it is wrong all you have o do is prove it we are listening..

      February 25, 2011 at 1:10 pm |
    • Justina

EvolvedDNA, no one made God. God is self-existent unlike creatures like us or the universe. From logic and information from all fields including science, it's definitive Someone intelligent made our known world. And our planet has a supernatural book called the Holy Bible, teaching mankind that God made the world indeed and that He loves us and sent His Son because we sinned. Most likely scientific conclusion so far is what the Bible says is true. EvolvedDNA, you and all the atheistic scientists chose not to believe in God IN SPITE OF evidences. The reason you cannot convince the majority of mankind to this day on atheism and never will. In fact, atheists are believers in self and that is proven to be most dangerous and unreliable as the standard of thought and conduct. EvolvedDNA, you must trust God regarding all the victims of tragedies including yourself. He is good and fair God. Read His book and talk to Him in Jesus' name. He answers. I will pray for you.

    • Evolved DNA

Justina.. sorry you cannot get away with saying that.. no one made god.. silly silly. That is a cop out because you have no answer to the fact of evolution. Not sure what scientific study was made of the bible to prove it is true.. not on this planet anyway. You understand that even the catholic church.. the pope himself,,, who talks to god apparently, accepts evolution to be true. They feel there is still room for god to have started it all.. science so far is still pondering the evidence and may or may not be able to answer that. Science is honest .. when it does not know it does not make up an answer to suit its bias.

      Keep trying..

      February 25, 2011 at 5:53 pm |
    • Justina

EvolvedDNA, Catholics were talking about micro evolution, NOT macro evolution. Species change some features within the boundary, but never cross it. And the origin of life cannot be non-life. It's never observed. Cell never comes from a non-cell. We don't need rocket-science to prove this. Scientific discoveries are definitely for Intelligent Design NOT for Evolution. Someone constructed us, EvolvedDNA. And your favorite atheistic scientists are doing all kinds of dishonest things to silence honest scientific conclusions. Atheists are oppressing and harassing honest scientists.

      February 26, 2011 at 7:38 am |
    • Evolved DNA

Justina.. intelligent design.. there is nothing that would indicate that at all.. If you think we are intelligently designed i'm afraid you are delusional. Evolution is a fact.. Intelligent design is a poor attempt to keep the supernatural reliant. Are you a curator at the Creation museum?? you a most likely think that the world only 6000 years old.... I suggest you read some literature on the subject there are many good books.on the subject....Richard Dawkins is one..Life is truly beautiful out side of the bounds of the supernatural. Intelligent design is junk science and has never stood up to any peer review..a tenant of scientific discussion. Also.. interesting we are taking about pork on a flight.. and is it Ken Hamm is the main proponent of ID.

      February 26, 2011 at 10:37 am |
    • evolvedDNA

Justina.. your comments about micro and macro evolution are incorrect by the way.. there is no line between them. You have the creationist version which has, as usual, misunderstood the science deliberatly in order to make its postion appear valid. Still waiting to hear where god comes from...Some tribes believe that the world was dreamed into existence, could that be valid perhaps?

Why does CNN have a belief blog!!??? Blogs do not have any business being part of a NEWS site. ALSO, if you are going to put this on your site, I find it offensive that your logo is of the cross with the word blog intersecting the F in belief. There are many religions, and it seems you are favoring one.

I agree with you to some extent (fish, chicken). But one thing our planet is suffering from today is too much beef. Specifically because it takes so much land to raise cattle. It takes far less land to raise poultry, so chickens are better for the earth. Plus, what is better on a cold winter night than a heart-warming bowl of chicken soup with matzo balls!

Hello, EvolvedDNA, let's be friends. Just don't mock religion. So, what's your problem? Your DNA was created by God, not evolved. The chance for a stuff like DNA to evolve in our known world is 0 according to scientific observation and logical probability. Your name is wrong to start with.

      February 24, 2011 at 9:54 pm |
    • evolvedDNA

Justina..of course we are friends .I do hate anyone..There is no reason we have to believe in any god to be good...you seem to think that people who do not believe athiests.. are all evil ..which is just silly. I will not get into any evolutionary discussion with you, as it is obvious from your comments that you have been told certain things and have not gone beyond that to find out the real information is. I feel so sad that you just insert god into such a beautiful natural process, and will never understand it. I believed in god as child and into my very early teens.. did all the godly stuff. One event changed my mind..the Aberfan disaster in Wales.. where 120 children were suffocated my a mud slide into a school one afternoon..no amount of god spin convinced me he was real..and there you are. I want no part in a belief of a god that murders and is so called "love". Nothing has changed.. the world is full of disasters.. natural events and no amount of belief makes any difference . We need to work to gether as one species and believe in ourselves, not the supernatural. I have no hate for anyone or horns on my head at least the last time i looked!!

    • evolvedDNA

Justina..what puts religion on a level above mockery? Religion has to earn respect it does not get it because some believe it is important to them. You mock evolution which has over whelming evidence as to being totally correct, so why would you expect different treatment.

      February 25, 2011 at 1:20 am |
    • Justina

EvolvedDNA, thank you for writing to me. No, man cannot be good without God. There is no single example of a good atheist now or in history anywhere in the world, though there are countless godly Christian saints. I don't hate atheists; I love them. If I don't love and do good to atheists, I cannot be Christian. Reality is that God created the world. Atheists are the ones who go against all the scientific evidences for the Creator because of personal preference. Evolve-, I know how hard it is to see the innocent suffer or die. Something tells us strongly that's not the way it should be. God didn't murder those children. He is the Creator; He never murders. He called them to where they belong by His sovereignity. It's concealed from you now. You really have no idea about those children or any other innocent victims, but the loving God does. You should have continued to trust God because He is good. There are natural disasters and grievious things on earth because all of us are sinners. The planet is suffering because mankind has sinned. Read Romans chapter 8 again. God will restore everything in Jesus very soon. If you believe in Jesus, you will see the children you cared in joy. No, belief in self is the most futile. If we ever do that, logic will only bring us to a conclusion that mankind is the worst problem on earth therefore must be annihilated. Besides, mankind tried what you said and it failed everytime for all 7 billion people. Manual attempt for utopia ALWAYS resulted in mass massacre, nothing else. Trust in mankind does not work and never will. Proven and guaranteed. Meanwhile, Christians have been bringing forth civility, justice and liberation on earth in God's love and compassion without forcing an utopia, because Christian utopia will be brought by Jesus Himself. Christians are the visible beacon of hope for now until King Jesus returns.

Evolved DNA, religion is like one's own family members, best friend, race or nationality. The self-bashing Americans from broken homes without a true friend may never understand this, but religion is something religious people cherish, more than life itself. It's all right if you simply point out what's wrong with my religion, but if you mock it, you are mocking everything I am and everything I have. If you are living for the theory of evolution and ready to die for it, register them as religion. I'll not make fun of it in public for you. But the fact is, you atheists don't care. It doesn't even matter to you whether God exists or not. You claim to be atheist because you hate the image of a god you crafted up in your filthy mind and enjoy calling us believers bad names, though the God we know is nothing like atheists imagine. And you think you can always ask easy forgiveness in the last minute in a case you must confront God. Life is much more serious and severe than that, friend. I encourage you to read the Bible, go back to church and re-study what you gave up before, because Jesus is the only Way, the Truth and the Life, after all.

That has to be the most ridiculous nonsense I have read today! Are you claiming that there is no such thing as an unhealthy Jew or a Jew with a disease? Why are there Jewish hospitals if the Jewish are so much more healthy than the rest of the world?

This is the stupidity that is brought about by religion. People getting offended because there is meat on a plane that wasn't killed the right way. The right way according to some desert dwelling illiterate tribesman 4,000 years ago who claimed God told them. Absolute nonsense...

I suspect today's swines are raised the same way as veal. Therefore, the pigs aren't doing their natural instinct of eating up garbage since God created scavengers to clean the planet's waste. Still, they only have those tiny sweat glands on their snouts which doesn't allow them to sweat out what they eat. Everything is stored in their fat. I don't know what the industry feeds them, how long they let them live .. until the slaughter house rules. If anyone knows, I'm sure they will write.

it's not that there was non kosher food on the plane, most planes have, it's that it was served under a kosher label. People have a right to follow any dietary requirements they feel like following.

      February 23, 2011 at 10:59 pm |
    • HotAirAce

      @legalizeit

Did you read the article? No one who wanted kosher food was served nonkosher food. No one was served nonkosher food labelled as kosher food. The wrong food was loaded and the problem detected before anyone was fed, but some did go hungry.

While everyone has a right to observe whatever dietary restrictions they like, I do not believe airlines (and other providers of foods) have an obligation to serve food in accordance with anyone's personal choices. In the airlines I'm familiar with, you can request certain types of meals, but you are not guaranteed they will be available. People with dietery restrictions, whether religious or medical (as my children do), should take care of themselves.

A United Kingdom budget airline-that says it all, you get what you pay for and in the case of most airlines even when you pay you don't get much.
On a side note, the last time me and my wife travelled I got pulled aside for a pat-down. I looked at my wife and said "watch closely and you may learn a thing or two", she was not impressed but the security guy was laughing his ass off.
