Christian to Muslim: A change of faith

Editor’s Note: "Unwelcome: The Muslims Next Door" features the Muslim community of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where Matthew Miller has lived since age 15. CNN’s Soledad O’Brien chronicles the dramatic fight over the construction of a mosque in the heart of the Bible belt. “Unwelcome: The Muslims Next Door” airing at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. E.T. April 2 on CNN.

By Elizabeth M. Nunez, CNN

The actual conversion was brief. It only involved one sentence: “I bear witness that there is no God worthy of worship but God, I bear witness that Mohammed is the messenger of God.”

For 30-year-old Mathew Miller, those words represented the culmination of a long religious transformation from Christianity to Islam.

Miller is a digital media communications major at Middle Tennessee University and works part-time at a golf course. He was raised Christian in California, surfing and dreaming of being a radio DJ.

“My first interaction with Islam was this movie called ‘Not Without my Daughter’. That was my first glimpse into what Western society believed was really going on in Islam,” he said.

"Not Without My Daughter" is a 1991 film in which Sally Field portrays an America woman who flees from Iran with her daughter. The movie, based on true story detailed in a book by the same title, was faulted by critics for portraying a stereotypical view of Iranians and Islam.

But in questioning his own beliefs, and after a conversation with a Muslim friend, Miller’s interest in Islam was piqued.

“I think for the most part I was afraid, don’t really know of what,” he said.

Later, attending Friday prayers at a small Mosque in Murfreesboro, he began to learn more.

“When I put my head on the ground with them, it felt like I could say anything to God, and what I was asking for at the time was guidance. I wanted to know whether what I was doing was the right thing to do.”

His mother had long expected his change of religious faith. “I told my mother I was Muslim in Disneyland. She said ‘I don’t necessarily know if I feel good about it, but if it makes you happy and it’s what you feel is the right way, then there’s nothing I can do.’”

Now he regularly worships at the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro mosque.

Miller, a white convert in a diverse congregation, has heard comments about his faith - and the controversy surrounding his mosque. Once, an Iraqi war veteran told him that the new controversial Islamic Center of Murfreesboro should not be built because it could potentially harbor terrorists.

“I addressed his questions formally and it was funny because at the end of the conversation, he kind of started admitting, 'Well you know, I don’t know anything about Islam.”

I have lived among Christians and Muslims in their homelands. They are both full of hypocrites. I put the Imams up there with Catholic priests when it comes to abuse of little boys. The more I learn about religions in their country of origin the less I respect it. I thought about converting to islam in a muslim country but realized that they really aren't that different. Contrary to popular belief, the same social issues, ie alcoholics, drugs, poverty, abuse do exist in the muslim world except for the fact that they cover it up.

Globehopper, your relationship with the ALMIGHTY is just that yours. Yes everywhere in the world you go there are bad and good people. All Christians don't go to church regularly and all Muslims don't pray 5 times a day. But don't let those few stop you. You go for what feels good in your heart. Don't look to them look to GOD only. God willing He will guide your heart. Islam is a beautiful religion and as a Muslim I strive daily to be a good person, be happy and smile. I strive to do charity and good deeds. I am working on being slow to anger (but then shouldn't we all). This special angered me but now I am a lot calmer. Best wishes to you.

Basics of Islam which all muslims beleive in- lot of Americans are ignorant of this:

    1) There is no God but Allah, and Allah is most gracious and merciful.
    2) Mohamed (peach be upon him-pbuh) is messenger of Allah, similar to Moses or Jesus or Dawood etc.
    3) Allah has 100+ characterisitcs as refered in Quran.
    4) Quran (holy scripture) is revealed to prophet Mohamed (pbuh) by Allah thru Arch Angel Gibrael aka Gabriel. The revelation happened over long period of time (20 + years). In one of the description pbuh told when he first saw Angel Gibrael with his naked eyes he trembled with fear, started to sweat profusely and almost fainted since the size of Angel Gibrael he saw is some thing he could not comprehend.
    5) Mohamed (pbuh) is an illiterate common man and orphan but very genuine and truthful in nature. He did not know to read or write any scriptures. The revelation of Quran to him 1500+ years before is a great miracle in itself.
    6) No one believed him when he (illiterate man) started to tell great nobel things like below then and which is proven to be true now and all times to come:

    – Universe and all living things are created by God
    – All planets float in own orbits by commandment and will of God
    – Universe is traveling and expanding in size
    – We were formed in womb like a sticky substance( Alaq) and later Allah gave it shape, life etc.
    – Allah taught human being to read and write
    – All human being are born equal except the difference is in the level of conciousiness of Allah (Taqwa).
..The racist folks who lived during that time got very upset on this statement.
    – There is no God but Allah and all idols are not God.
.. Ignorant Folks who worshipped idol got very upset on this statement.
    – You were created to pray God
    – Treat Parents and elders with respect
    – Dont kill new born infants citing poverty since Allah is the provider of provisions and not you.
    – Treat animals with kindness
    – Treat orphan with Kindness (pbuh himself is an orphan)
    – Help the poor and needy always
    – If a person saved a life of another person it is as though he saved the entire humanity
    – If a person killed another person it is as though he killed the entire humanity
    – Dont utter a bad word since it is a sin
    – Paradise lies in feet of your mother
    – All the actions(good or bad) are being recorded by Angles thru commandment of God in a special book and every action is accountable even if it is a size of atom.
    – After we die 3 things come with you: your good deeds, your bad deeds, prayer of your children on behalf of you.
    – You go to heaven by mercy of God, not by your actions.
    – A man giving in alms one piece of silver in his lifetime is better for him than giving one hundred when about to die.
-He who travels in the search of knowledge, to him God shows the way of Paradise.
-The best of friends is he who is best in behavior and character.
-One who does not practice modesity and does not refrain from shameless deeds is not a Muslim.
-God is not merciful to him who is not so to humankind. He who is not kind to God's creation and to his own children, God will not be kind to him.
-Whosoever visits a sick person, an angel calls from Heaven: "Be happy in the world and happy be your walking; and take your habitation in Paradise."
-A Muslim has five duties towards another Muslim; to return a salutation, visit the sick, follow funerals, accept an invitation and say 'God have mercy on you' when one sneezes.

    list goes on and on....
    7) Muslims believe in Hereafter. Quran and prohet have given a great insight on what will be the hereafter, eg) questions asked in the grave as soon as the folks walk away after burying you, description of hell, heaven etc, explained in detail in quran.
    8) There is lot of thing common in Islam, Christianity and Jews than any other religion.
    9) Maryam or Mary (peace be upon her) and Prophet Jesus miracle conception is refered in Quran in multiple places. There is a separate chapter in quran dedicated to Mary.
    9) Jesus has refered Mohamed as the next and last messenger of God.
10)There are around 1.5 billion muslims in the world today and Islam is the fastest growing religion.

Fundamental difference between Christianity and Islam:

    1) Muslims believe that Jesus son of Mary came to this world by miracle conception by will of God as clearly stated in quran.
    2) Jesus (pbuh) is a great prophet
    3) Jesus (pbuh) was not crucified and he was given special healing miracle by will of God
    4) Jesus (pbuh) did not die for your sin and God raised him to heaven.
    4) Jesus did not erase your sin and you are responsible and accountable for your own actions even if it a size of an atom. Every action is being recorded by angels in your shoulders. Good action are recored by angel in right shoulder and bad is recored by angel in left shoulder as stated in Quran.

All this media is purely propaganda, plain and simple. CNN with a "belief" page? What is news coming too? This is exactly what Hilter was doing to promote hate against the Jews: hyping up fear, until the people demanded to get rid of them.

Statistics show, US terrorist attacks are from white Americans. A very small percentage of domestic terrorist attacks are from Muslims (quoted from FBI statistics). You people are mad!!!! And CNN and the rest of the media are only fueling undeserved hate to a group of people that have every right to enjoy the same Civil Liberties the rest of us Americans get.

...quite a lot don't understand the following basics of Islam:

    1) Allah = God (The non idol God or supremely merciful power most of the rational human kind believes today)
    2) Mohammed (peace be upon him) is just a prophet who is an illiterate (who does not know to read or write) but got the noble revelation quran...which in itself is a miracle that happened 1500 + years before). Till prophet died he did not know to read or write. The entire quran is revealed to him by God thru his powerful angel (Arch Angel Gibrael). The entire process of revelation is in detail available in several books in library. When this illiterate man (pbuh) started to talk about great concepts like) not killing young children, don't take interest, all are born equal except the only differnce between any two is level of belief in God, dont pray idol instead pray God/Almighty, treat poor with kindness, treat animals with kindness, treat every one with respect, treat orphan with respect, etc,
    2) Quran is for humanity (similar to Bible)
    3) Those who follow Quran call them selves Muslims. It's not other way, where you call Quran is for muslims. Acutally Quran is for every human being in the world and for Jinn (unseen being not visible for human eyes).
    4) There is NO compulsion in Islam.
    5) There are more commonality between Islam and Christianity and Jews than any other religions.
    6) A true Muslim will 100% believe in Chrisianity and Jewish faith.
    7) Mary (peace be upon her) the mother of Jesus (pbuh) is refered in Quran and there is separate chapter dedicated to her in Quran refering the mircale birth of Jesus etc. Moses pbuh, Jesus pbuh, and Mohamed phuh are all refered multiple times in Quran and Muslims believe 100% in all these great prophets. (I guess this is the reason a true Muslim will never burn a bible or Tora!!!!)

      Truly well done for your comments although would like to correct a point or two ;
You said; The entire quran is revealed to him by God thru his powerful angel (Arch Angel Gibrael).

Ready OK : the Quran was inspired by God to prophets as well as was revealed through Angel Gibrael....Angel Gibrael was named as the Holy Spirit as well...do you agree or do I need to supply proofs? Ok will follow with that next...

      An-Nisa sura 04:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Lo! We inspire thee as We inspired Noah and the prophets after him, as We inspired Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and Jesus and Job and Jonah and Aaron and Solomon, and as We imparted unto David the Psalms; (163) And messengers We have mentioned unto thee before and messengers We have not mentioned unto thee; and Allah spake directly unto Moses; (164) Messengers of good cheer and of warning, in order that mankind might have no argument against Allah after the messengers. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise. (165) But Allah (Himself) testifieth concerning that which He hath revealed unto thee; in His knowledge hath He revealed it; and the Angels also testify. And Allah is sufficient Witness. (166).

      An-Najm sura 53:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, (1) Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; (2) Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. (3) It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired, (4) Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, (5).

      An-Nahl sura 16:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
And when thou recitest the Qur'an, seek refuge in Allah from Satan the outcast. (98) Lo! he hath no power over those who believe and put trust in their Lord. (99) His power is only over those who make a friend of him, and those who ascribe partners unto Him (Allah). (100) And when We put a revelation in place of (another) revelation, – and Allah knoweth best what He revealeth – they say: Lo! thou art but inventing. Most of them know not. (101) Say: The holy Spirit hath revealed it from thy Lord with truth, that it may confirm (the faith of) those who believe, and as guidance and good tidings for those who have surrendered (to Allah). (102) And We know well that they say: Only a man teacheth him. The speech of him at whom they falsely hint is outlandish, and this is clear Arabic speech. (103).

Contrary to popular belief, Christianity – not Islam – is the fastest growing religion on Earth. Church congregations and active Christians are satic in the West. However, there is a Christian boom going on right now in the third world. Africa and Asia are now booming with Christian conversion and Church construction. In addition, the WHO also states that because of increased education levels by muslim women, the muslim birth rate will fall beginning mid-century. What now averages 5-7 kids per muslim family is projected to fall to 1-3 kids per muslim family by mid-century.

It should be known that the nations of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Lybia and Iraq were all Christian. Look at them today. Christians have been getting slaughtered or force-converted or out-populated there since since 600AD. This was Christian land!!! And then there are those who say Islam is tolerant. How can an entire continent go from being 100% Christian to 97% Muslim since 600AD? Islam is peaceful? You blineded souls need to wake up. Islam is a dangerous religion. This is insanity!

      Dan Kahn.

Although I do not believe you are an Arab or even a christian since your name is more Jewish than it is Christian but I have been to Syria and have seen Arab Muslims,Christians and Jews live side by side in some areas in a way I couldn't tell which is which....about being treated as third class...in every country there are first class, second class, third class, bottom class and that is natural found in every country if it was not based on religion then it would be on the bases of Race,Color or even based on how wealthy you are....so what is new in this case....don't tell me in America it is much better? Or can't you see all these posts speaking ill of Islam and prophet of Islam...does not that show that Muslims are considered a lower class or otherwise not one race or religion is equal to another race or religion?? So Dan you ought try cleaning the hatred in your heart otherwise it will kill you or make of you a loser....another thing to point out to you that the world has changed religion several times with every generation since old even before Abrahamic religions and after that as well it was Jew then became Christian and now becoming Islamic so what's the deal in that ? Even Mecca was not Islamic before Islam so what hear your self talking rubbish full of hatred....beside your name is not even an Arabic name...and claim to be Arabic why couldn't you admit of being Arminian or Kurdish rather than claiming to be Arabic...?

Fairminded: Your quote is from the Old Testament. This is Jewish instruction. Christianity begins with the New Testament, name the Book of Matthew. Your ignorance is shocking.

CNN definitely has an agenda. What is not mentioned by CNN and would probably never be, is the number of muslims that are finding salvation in Jesus Christ in the middle east. There is a faction in America that abhors anything christian and will side with anyone and/or any movement that opposes Christianity. "Any enemy of yours is a friend of mine". It doesn't matter that they're attempting to impose the most radical social agenda throughout Europe or that they subjugate women and even practice or condone slavery in many parts of the middle east and Africa. They are simply a struggling underclass that are misunderstood. We must bend backward and exercise the utmost sensitivity to appease and understand them.

I love how anti-Christians cite the Old Testament as illustrations of violence in Christian doctrine. the OT is Jewish instruction. Christian teachings bein with the NT, namely the Book of Matthew. The gospels do not preach violence over anyone. It amazes me that people don't know this.

  12. "Religion of Peace" In Action

And you u support the evil teaching of ISLAM.Shame on you.Watch your evil islam in action.Let the videos speak for islam. Not sure you will watch it.If not then you do not know the true islam.
slaughtered American contractor Nick Berg. Sitting in a chair, Berg made the following statement: “My name is Nick Berg, my father’s name is Michael, my mother’s name is Susan,” the man said on the video. “I have a brother and sister, David and Sarah. I live in … Philadelphia.”The video then changes to a scene of masked men, with Berg sitting in front of them. After reading a statement, the masked men were seen pulling the man to his side and putting a large knife to his neck. A scream sounded as the men cut his head off, shouting “Allahu Akbar!” – “God is great.” They then held the head out before the camera.THIS IS THE REAL FACES OF ISLAM.http://barenakedislam.wordpress.com/2009/06/26/american-nick-bergs-beheading-warning-graphic-images/
In this case, just as it has happened so many times before, it seems that the executioners used a dull knife again. These guys really left the man take the imminent death with all of its worst. The knife wielding masked man slowly cut through the neck of the victim as if to take in the joy of causing slow and painful death. He cut through man’s trachea and esophagus which detached victim’s mouth from the rest of the body, yet he’s still making desperate attempts to scream and all the noise is coming out of his neck. It’s brutal. As carotid arteries got cut, the blood started gushing out in volume you have never seen before. The massive blood loss along with horrific sound this beheaded man lets out make this easily the most brutal beheading video you will have ever seen. Also notice how just before the beheading starts, the camera focuses on victims bruised arms. That man was heavily beaten prior to his painful execution. He was given a choice to say his last words – it’s in a language I don’t understand (possibly a Middle Eastern tongue) but you can tell the man has already gone through hell on Earth and knows the worst is yet to come. He likely wished for a quick death so he’s done with it, unfortunately for him, he was not granted that wish. Brutal video.I don’t want to sound mundane with warnings, but damn the damned – WARNING on this one. Extremely brutal video. Very bloody. You have never seen this much blood ejected out of man’s body before. Knife executioners used to behead this man was likely really dull which you can tell by what it took to cut through the soft tissues of the neck. The video then jumps to the footage of decapitated head laying atop man’s dead body – which I’m assuming is because cutting through his spine took them forever, so they got rid of that so they’re not ridiculed for being complete amateurs. Once again – this video will hunt you for years, even if you’ve seen previous beheadings and took it like a champ. This one is worse. The sound is extremely painful and the amount of blood lost is beyond comprehension. You can’t even believe heart can pump so much blood with each beat. Watch at your on risk, you’ll have to deal with it yourself if you opt to go for it. I’m not kidding, it’s the worst beheading video ever!It appears as though the name of beheaded man was Jasus Musel. The beheading was carried out by MUSLIMS.See a pattern??Watch muslims in the name of islam. Not 100 years ago but in modern day.Islam is evil and everyone who follows it becomes evil.Let the videos speak.bestgore.com/beheading/worst-beheading-video-ever-horrific-sound-massive-blood-loss/ outsidethebeltway.com/web_site_american_hostage_killed_in_iraq/-The video, on an Islamist site, identified the hostage as Eugene Armstrong and showed a masked man sawing his head off with a knife. The video showed the banner of Zarqawi’s Tawhid and Jihad group, which said it had kidnapped the hostage along with another American and a Briton in central Baghdad last Thursday. The video was the first word on the three men since a 48-hour execution deadline set by the group on Saturday expired earlier in the day.Tawhid and Jihad said in footage posted on the Internet on Saturday it would kill the three men unless Iraqi women were freed from Abu Ghraib and Umm Qasr jails in 48 hours. The families of Americans Armstrong and Jack Hensley and Briton Kenneth Bigley have appealed for their release. The men were seized from their house in an upscale neighborhood of Baghdad on Thursday by a group of gunmen.

Just finished watching the cnn special "Unwelcome: The Muslims next door" and was totally offended. I have served this country honorably and fought for the right of freedom of religion in this country. It does not surprise me that there are so many uninformed people in this country. I just want to know where they find these "clowns' who profess to be "Christians" that are so self-righteous. Personally, I think it makes the people of Murfreesboro TN look like a bunch of back country hillbillies who are as racist as they come. Unfortunately we fear most what we do not know about and I just wonder how those same people who know nothing about Sharia law feel about the guy who goes out to the local tavern on Saturday night, comes home and beats his wife and kids and then goes to church on Sunday morning and sings "Oh How I Love Jesus"? It makes me sick!

Daivd I mimick your statement. I am Muslim and I proudly serve my country. I am also from TN and I am so ashamed right now to call it home. The thing that caught me off guard the most was the fact that not one Muslim Cleric got on the witness stand. This is nothing more than a modern day fear tactic and witch hunt. As for the lady who funded the lawsuit....I say Kudos to Soledad for making her feel and look about 6in tall. As Soledad stated Muslims live all over the US and in NYC there is a great population of Muslims who have been there for many many years. No one in NYC is practicing Sharia Law. For the ones that are proclaimed Christians...whatever happended to turning the other cheek? or Do unto others as you would have them do unto you? This is a modern day crusade and as a service member who puts it all on the line I am sickened by this ignorance.

    Al-Maeda sura 05:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say O People of the Scripture! Ye have naught (of guidance) till ye observe the Torah and the Gospel and that which was revealed unto you from your Lord. That which is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) from thy Lord is certain to increase the contumacy and disbelief of many of them. But grieve not for the disbelieving folk. (68) Lo! those who believe, and those who are Jews, and Sabaeans, and Christians – Whosoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right – there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. (69) We made a covenant of old with the Children of Israel and We sent unto them messengers. As often as a messenger came unto them with that which their souls desired not (they became rebellious). Some (of them) they denied and some they slew. (70) They thought no harm would come of it, so they were wilfully blind and deaf. And afterward Allah turned (in mercy) toward them. Now (even after that) are many of them wilfully blind and deaf. Allah is Seer of what they do. (71).

    Al-Maeda sura 05:
They surely disbelieve who say: Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. The Messiah (himself) said: O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Lo! whoso ascribeth partners unto Allah, for him Allah hath forbidden paradise. His abode is the Fire. For evil-doers there will be no helpers. (72) They surely disbelieve who say: Lo! Allah is the third of three; when there is no God save the One God. If they desist not from so saying a painful doom will fall on those of them who disbelieve. (73) Will they not rather turn unto Allah and seek forgiveness of Him? For Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (74) The Messiah, son of Mary, was no other than a messenger, messengers (the like of whom) had passed away before him. And his mother was a saintly woman. And they both used to eat (earthly) food. See how We make the revelations clear for them, and see how they are turned away! (75) Say: Serve ye in place of Allah that which possesseth for you neither hurt nor use? Allah it is Who is the Hearer, the Knower. (76).

    Al-Maeda sura 05:
Say: O People of the Scripture! Stress not in your religion other than the truth, and follow not the vain desires of folk who erred of old and led many astray, and erred from a plain road. (77) Those of the Children of Israel who went astray were cursed by the tongue of David, and of Jesus, son of Mary. That was because they rebelled and used to transgress. (78) They restrained not one another from the wickedness they did. Verily evil was that they used to do! (79) Thou seest many of them making friends with those who disbelieve. Surely ill for them is that which they themselves send on before them: that Allah will be wroth with them and in the doom they will abide. (80) If they believed in Allah and the Prophet and that which is revealed unto him, they would not choose them for their friends. But many of them are of evil conduct. (81).

    Al-Maeda sura 05:
Thou wilt find the most vehement of mankind in hostility to those who believe (to be) the Jews and the idolaters. And thou wilt find the nearest of them in affection to those who believe (to be) those who say: Lo! We are Christians. That is because there are among them priests and monks, and because they are not proud. (82) When they listen to that which hath been revealed unto the messengers, thou seest their eyes overflow with tears because of their recognition of the Truth. They say: Our Lord, we believe. Inscribe us as among the witnesses. (83) How should we not believe in Allah and that which hath come unto us of the Truth. And (how should we not) hope that our Lord will bring us in along with righteous folk? (84).

Allah is an Islamic name for God the Creator:

    Al-Baqara sura 02:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
And verily We gave unto Moses the Scripture and We caused a train of messengers to follow after him, and We gave unto Jesus, son of Mary, clear proofs (of Allah's sovereignty), and We supported him with the Holy spirit. Is it ever so, that, when there cometh unto you a messenger (from Allah) with that which ye yourselves desire not, ye grow arrogant, and some ye disbelieve and some ye slay? (87).

    Al-Baqara sura 02:
Have ye any hope that they will be true to you when a party of them used to listen to the word of Allah, then used to change it, after they had understood it, knowingly? (75) And when they fall in with those who believe, they say: We believe. But when they go apart one with another they say: Prate ye to them of that which Allah hath disclosed to you that they may contend with you before your Lord concerning it? Have ye then no sense? (76) Are they then unaware that Allah knoweth that which they keep hidden and that which they proclaim? (77) Among them are unlettered folk who know the Scripture not except from hearsay. They but guess. (78) Therefore woe be unto those who write the Scripture with their hands and then say, "This is from Allah," that they may purchase a small gain therewith. Woe unto them for that their hands have written, and woe unto them for that they earn thereby. (79) And they say: The Fire (of punishment) will not touch us save for a certain number of days. Say: Have ye received a covenant from Allah – truly Allah will not break His covenant – or tell ye concerning Allah that which ye know not? (80) Nay, but whosoever hath done evil and his sin surroundeth him; such are rightful owners of the Fire; they will abide therein. (81) And those who believe and do good works: such are rightful owners of the Garden. They will abide therein. (82).

    Al-E-Imran sura 03:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
And lo! of the People of the Scripture there are some who believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto you and that which was revealed unto them, humbling themselves before Allah. They purchase not a trifling gain at the price of the revelations of Allah. Verily their reward is with their Lord. Lo! Allah is swift to take account. (199) O ye who believe! Endure, outdo all others in endurance, be ready, and observe your duty to Allah, in order that ye may succeed. (200).

    Al-E-Imran sura 03:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
It is not (the purpose) of Allah to leave you in your present state till He shall separate the wicked from the good. And it is not (the purpose of) Allah to let you know the Unseen. But Allah chooseth of His messengers whom He will, (to receive knowledge thereof). So believe in Allah and His messengers. If ye believe and ward off (evil), yours will be a vast reward. (179).

    Al-Falaq sura 113:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak (1) From the evil of that which He created; (2) From the evil of the darkness when it is intense, (3) And from the evil of malignant witchcraft, (4) And from the evil of the envier when he envieth. (5).

Genesis 16:11-12 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

    YUSUFALI: The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;

YUSUFALI: But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

YUSUFALI: Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

If there is one thing the Muslim people would truly be blessed to know is that God is Love. They do not know a God of love. Their God is encouraging of murder and violence. They do know God is one. However, they need to know that True Christianity teaches God is one. And Jesus is His name. Jesus is God manifest in flesh. God is absolutely one. But His name is not Allah – it is Jesus. If they could only receive the revelation that Christ is God incarnate and He died on the cross as us, offering us freedom from sin through Him, and that we cannot save ourselves by good works, they would truly praise God the rest of their days like they presently do not know how!

Read these quotes from the Qur'an and see for yourself the violent nature of this religion, thus betraying its error. Please understand that not all factions of the Islamic religion condone violence. Some do and some do not. I just wish to point out to you the Qur'an statements that seem to encourage violence.

    The Qur’an encourages murder:

"But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful."
    Qur’an 9:5

"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."
    Qur’an 9:29

The Qur’an promotes hate of Christians:

"O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust." Qur’an 5:51

"O ye who believe! take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport,- whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith; but fear ye Allah, if ye have faith (indeed)."
    Qur’an 5:57

"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."
    Qur’an 9:29

"Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures."
    Qur’an 98:6

The Qur’an promotes beating of wives:
"Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all)."
    Qur’an 4:34

"If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, Take the evidence of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Allah ordain for them some (other) way."
    Qur’an 4:15

One is completely at their own liberty to merely assume that the Muslims don't believe in a God of mercy. However, I must say that a dire problem that faces modern society is misunderstanding/misconception. Media and propoganda have taught us to quickly jump to conclusions and pass judgment. Believe me, as a specialist in the field of Islamic studies, the Muslim belief system is strongly based on Mercy and Justice. The more we point fingers, the further we will depart from fruitful discussions and extremists will define our course. All the best.

I just would like to understand this... God is supposed to the Creator and sustainer of everything including us human beings, we depend on Him for all of our needs. I think that everyone agrees on that. One of His attributes is that He is ever-living, meaning that he does not die. So how is it possible that God, the most powerful, the ever-living, leaves His magnificent place in Heavens, comes down to earth in a form of a human being (that gets hurt, gets hungry, have pain, gets sick, eat food, goes to the bathroom...etc) and then we take HIm, put Him on a cross, and WE KILL GOD? Who is going to take care of us when we kill God? Islam teaches us that Jesus (Peace be upon him) is nothing but a messenger of God. He was sent to deliver God' message to his people, He was created without a father and his mother Mary was a noble and chaste wowan (There is an entire chapter in the Quran called Mariam dedicated to Mary, peace be upon her). Muslims respect and love Jesus and the last prophet tells us that his creation is the like of that of Adam. Adam was created without a father and mother, Eve was created from a father and no mother, and Jesus peace be upon him was created from a mother without a father.

Jesus was who he said he is. Most of the people of Jerusalem went to Bethany to see Lazarus, The guy that was resurrected from the dead by Jesus. You see my friend, they buried Lazarus a few days before. He was one of their own, and the whole city went to Bethany to see first hand.
They also saw Jesus dying on the cross. The Romans posted soldiers around his grave, so nobody could go near without been seeing by them. Their life was at stake if the body was taken away. Well, the grave was empty, and still is empty. For forty days after resurrected,Jesus was showing himself to the believers and was teaching them all things of God.
All those believers died horrible deaths in the arenas and in the dens of the lions. Would they die for a lie?

The short answer is yes. Look around. The clowns that flew into the towers on 9/11 wouldn't die for a lie. Believing a lie as truth is why people seem to die for the truth. No one knows the truth except God – no one. And he doesn't need simple humans to convey his thoughts – he's all powerfull and would just put those beleifs in everones mind and we would do his bidding like little robots. Every so called messanger from god is either a fraud or mentally deficient. Remember, there is a lot of money in religion – trillions of dollars annually. All the various religions will fight the "non-believer" and infidels not because it's god's will (he couldn't care less) but to protect their "business" interests. After all if people came to their senses and stopped going to churches, mosques and temples, the gravy train would come to a halt and all these priests and clerics and rabbis would be unemployed.
