France's controversial burqa ban takes effectParis (CNN) - French police arrested two veiled women protesting the country's law banning face-hiding Islamic burqas and niqabs Monday, just hours after the legislation took effect. The arrests outside Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris were not for wearing the prohibited garments. Police say the women were instead arrested for participating in an unauthorized protest. But the incident reflected the high passions the ban has incited among some Muslims. One woman who disapproves of the ban said no one forces her to wear the niqab, a full-face veil with an opening for her eyes, and she should be left alone. "I've not committed a crime," said Hind Amas, who was not among those arrested. "I'm walking peacefully in the street. I've not attacked anyone." Read about American women who wear Islamic headscarves The ban pertains to the burqa, a full-body covering that includes a mesh over the face, as well as the niqab. The hijab, which covers the hair and neck but not the face, and the chador, which covers the body but not the face, apparently are not banned by the law. Read about two Tennessee sisters who wear the hijab "The ban does not target the wearing of a headscarf, head gear, scarf or glasses, as long as the accessories do not prevent the person from being identified," the Interior Ministry said in a statement. a l la h! sux little boys cox and rims them also!
They took it to another level by protesting in front of a Catholic Church, (taking the battle to the "Crusaders")
you move to a country, you should also take on thier laws and customs. If you dont like thier laws and customs
move to a coutnry that has those values and customs.
I have never seen a group that is so easily offended.
hunt down all muslims in north america
torture them and then deport them
put them on a raft and force them to row or paddle home
i have had enough of these crybabies!
nuke them all!!!!!
Hank: By the way, Homer, what's your least favorite country: Italy or France?
Homer: France.
Hank: [chuckles] Nobody ever says Italy.
STEP TWO:
BAN THE QURAN VERSES THAT CALLS FOR THE KILLING OF JEWS, CHRISTIANS AND PAGANS:
READ
QURAN 9:29, 9:30, BUKHARI 52:177 and many more
Most people in the West do not support burning the Quran, the nut who did it was an attention seeking ho.
Since wearing the burqa and niqab has nothing to do with islam or religion in general and is just a symptom of strict traditional values, France is in their full right to implement this law. The law sends a signal that it is not ok to restrict the freedom of the women in their families. What goes on behind closed doors is much harder to control, but since this patriarchial control is out in the open, then yes.....society will deal with it.
STEP NUMBER TWO SHOULD BE BANNING THOSE VERSES IN THE QURAN THAT PITS MUSLIMS IN A HOSTILE DISPOSITION TORWARDS NON – MUSLIMS ESPECIALLY JEWS AND CHRISTIANS!!
As a muslim I agree with every1 concern to ban the face covering. But I do not agree with every1 burning the Quran. I thought the west was suppose to be a decent civilized nations?
The French law has nothing to do with religion. It is about going around in public in face and body covering that totally conceals who you are, even whether you are male or female. A perfect cover for terrorists. Yes, it forbids harmless women from wearing total face masks, but to permit it leaves the door open for harmful others. I don't often admire the French, but it seems to me that they are the only one swith the sense to forbid public anonymity that can threaten their security.
it's a simple safety issue. We live in a society that has trade offs. Government is there to protect your physical and ideological assets and so on; rather than a free for all where no such governing body exists. This power also protects its citizens from attacks, provides freedoms and so on. Of course, the trade of is, the individual has to deal with the limitations of living in a society – such as obey laws that both protect themselves and others and so on.
Simply put, the governing body that is there to serve its citizens cannot do its job if people do not follow their own elected and voted by majority society rules. Murderers, thieves, escapees, fugitives, pedophiles, and so on and so on cannot be identified by the police if they are covered in such a garment. It clashes with society values that people live in, and thus should not and cannot be allowed.
Countless incidents where dangerous criminals have been identified in most simplest situations due to street cameras, or police bumping in the person – would be impossible if the bad persons in the society could simply throw over a black sheet and never been seen or identified.
france is a sovereign nation and it has the rights to impose laws that threaten its interest, laws that protect its national integrity, and laws that protect its costumes and culture. however, i dont see how wearing a burqca threatens France's national interest! this law was designed as a result of prejudice against a religion tightly associated with extremist islamic movements. i believe this violates the rights of individuals to practice their religion however they want. extremism is not islam
read what I wrote under your post. I know the struggles of my acquaintances, who are in police work, when it comes to identifying a person. For the same reason folks are asked to remove book bags when walking into liquor stores, and hats/caps at clubs and etc. So that trouble makers could be IDENTIFIED if need be.

I agree with this ban. When coming to a new country you need to respect their culture and rules, and not demand that you get your own special rules and things. I am sick of how if I went to a middle eastern country i would be FORCED to wear a burqua or at least a headscarf or be killed.
can we just nuke the 3rd world countries filled with Muslims?
just do it!
I support the banning face-hiding Islamic burqas and niqabs law 100% ! There could be non-islamic women or anyone who isn't middle eastern could wear this face cover and could be a convicted killer who on the run from France police or FBI because their face is cover ! We must ban the burqas and niqabs ! Although, cover the head or around the face is OK, but not over the face !
What if she farts? can she lift burqa to air it out? or does she have to breathe it in anyways.
or is it that muslim men[as they have a child's imagination] believe women dont fart and poop?
lmgdmfao!
i guess the beauty of the burka is that when she does fart--> everyone knows who did it!
there is a little air bubble that floats up her to her burka!
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahahahaha
stupid religion
I, for one wholeheartedly agree with the ban. I'm fine with the headscarf, but an entire facial covering is too much. I could wear a burqa myself and go rob a bank and no one would know who I was. Its just a safety issue to be honest. So everyone should shut up and deal with it.
But I also think that the whole Sharia law mess in the UK should be banned. Seriously, the main issue I have with our middle-eastern brothers is that they come to western countries and rag on our cultures and DEMAND that they have special laws and things for them. I think its sick and its offensive to the western culture. If you come here for whatever reason, you should retain parts of your original heritage, but embrace your new one and become one of them.
how often do you hear of woman is burka's robbing banks?
Yeah, that's my problem too. They say identification is the problem, but I don't see how this is borne out in reality. The practical need for identification has not been made clear for me. I think identification ease is just a scapegoat for a much bigger issue. The French are tired of the Muslims – there are a variety of reasons for this, some good and some bad.
I sympathize with France's problems with the Muslim community, but I do think this tramps on the religious freedom of these people. This is not the way to assimilate Muslims into French values and culture. It just makes them all the more angry.
safety perspective. Your argument is that someone wearing a burqa – thus of that faith or tradition – would rob a bank. No; in reality a real criminal would rob a bank with a simple hat and wearing whatever he wants. Then he can wear a burqa everywhere in public without EVER getting caught.
You can't legislate morality. It is unjust to craft laws based on religion and to craft laws that snuff out religion.
read what I wrote previously. I know the struggles of my acquaintances, who are in police work, when it comes to identifying a person. For the same reason folks are asked to remove book bags when walking into liquor stores, and hats/caps at clubs and etc. So that trouble makers could be IDENTIFIED if need be. Repeating, but this should make the argument MUTE.
Covering heads and bodies is one thing but the face is offensive. If you live in Western countries Muslims should follow the local dress codes and traditions. French people who travel to Muslim countries should also do the same.
