Obamas attend local church on Easter Sunday

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama and his family attended the Easter Sunday service at Shiloh Baptist Church, which was founded by freed slaves in 1863.

The first family entered the church to a standing ovation, then joined in singing with the choir, backed by a live band that included a guitar, keyboard and drums.

Rev. Wallace Charles Smith welcomed the Obamas, noting the congregants pray for them every Sunday.

At collection time, Obama and his daughters gave money in envelopes provided at their seats. The first family left after two hours, as the service approached its conclusion.

The president and his family have attended services occasionally since moving to the White House in January 2009. Last Easter, the Obamas worshiped at a Methodist church.

How exactly is this newsworthy? One cannot get elected in this country without at least pretending to embrace the popular shared delusion. Obama doesn't seem any different in this regard. Maybe if he announced that attending church was a waste of time, you'd have a story.

Come on folks. Do you think Obama's mother-in-law would allow this man to marry her daughter if he wasn't a fine, upstanding Christian?

    Amen.

I like to think that Obama is actually a closet atheist who is only paying lip service to the christian wingnuts. In fact it wouldn't really matter that much if he was pretending to identify as christian, jew or muslim so long as he appeared to hold to at least some theist worldview to appease the suspi.cions of the sheeple. Certainly identifyiing as muslim would be a tough sell but nothing in comparison to the outcry that would ensue if he admitted to being an atheist. It's a sorry state this world is in where the belief in supersti.tious nonsense is the norm and not the exception.

I'm really surprised that Barry and his tribe did not go to the Masjid instead. Brobama is a Muslim. This will eventually be revealed.

So what if he is a muslim? And even if he was, the only time it would be an issue is if he based his decisions on what Islam teaches.

If that's the case, as far as I'm concerned, decisions based on the God in the bible vs. Allah of the Quran are equally uninformed and stupid.

      @ Bobbo

" So what if he is a muslim? And even if he was, the only time it would be an issue is if he based his decisions on what Islam teaches."

Like backing every Islamic "democratic" mob trying to unseat their respective authorities? Really? Or putting in a Muslim through an apparently rigged election in Ivory Coast?

Oh, well – this all doesn't apply to the Saudis of course... They can stay. Just as long as they massage their masses with
more welfare money. It'll be ok... at least maybe until Obama's re-election?

Hummph. All the GOP has to do is run somebody who can speak in complete sentences and Obama's place in history next to Carter is secured.

Christianity is the favorite religion of all kinds of oppressed people because Christianity alone provides meanings and real answers to human sufferings and also the strength and wisdom to combat and overcome the sufferings and injustices in this world.

      > Christianity is the favorite religion of all kinds of oppressed people because Christianity alone provides meanings and real answers to human sufferings.

How did you get oppressed people to take a poll. I'd say that because the majority of the Christian faith is in first world nations that Islam is more prevelant among those who are oppressed. You're clearly wrong here.

      > and also the strength and wisdom to combat and overcome the sufferings and injustices in this world.

Yes, the strength to realize that some invisible sky daddy will punish those who harmed you if you didn't catch them. That's not strength and wisdom, that's vindictiveness and illusion.

and also the strength and wisdom to combat and overcome the sufferings and injustices in this world.

Why is it THERE IS A GENOCIDE TAKING PLACE UNDER ANOTHER DEMOCRATIC WATCH!!!!!
Obama is too busy making believe he is a christian while endorsing election frauds by the UN and Hillary ex…. the Ivory Coast in favor of Allasane Ouattara. Since then only 2-3 weeks ago, that candidate (Allssane Ouattara – another Muslim, not wrong with them, except for this one) has been on a killing spree to eradicate all Christians in that country. The Ivory Coast is the largest Christian nation in Africa (At least it use to be)
The massacre perpetrated by Allassane Ouattara (http://ivorycoastgenocide.yolasite.com/) Images are graphic. The puppet that Obama try to legitimize through a congratulation speech. ((www.youtube.com/user/whitehouse#p/search/0/GHRA4jqeCaQ)

Amazingly, it is a REPUBLICAN Senator, Inhofe of Oklahama, who has decided to bring this GRAVE injustice to light; unfortunately, he is in the minority and Obama thinks it is in the US best interest to hope it goes away. Believe me, it won’t. Too many lives have been destroyed, too many innocent have been killed; too many no longer believe in this so called International Community who are willing to kill democracy, and back the slaughter of thousands to promote their own selfish interests.

Obama use to say that Michelle didn't want him home around their kids if he was going to be a changed man. How can a first African – American based President through an African country into the throws of the most vicious colonizers/country in the world. Michelle Obama, how can you look at this man and love him. He has sent 100 of thousands of Ivorian Kids to their death as well as adults. like I said above

THERE IS A GENOCIDE TAKING PLACE UNDER ANOTHER DEMOCRATIC WATCH!!!!! Hillary Clinton takes as much blame on this as well.

Barack – I know you know of American History but let me give you some insight into what you sold YOUR soul and those of the Ivory Coast people into as well as countless other African nations by enabling France to live off the blood of Ivoirians and strengthening them move forward and more viciously brutalize their other colonies.

France colonies so far (The Comores Island, Madagascar, Congo Brazzaville, RDC (Zaire/Congo Kinshasa), Benin.Togo. Burkina, Niger,Gabon, Cameroun, Ivory Coast, Strong implications Burundi & Rwanda, Tunisie, Maroc, Algerie, Tchad, Mauritania)

Wars: Indochine/Vietnam, Biafra 1960(3 millions dead), Rwanda 1994 (1 million dead), Cameroun 1956 > 100,000 dead, Algeria 1.5 million dead, RDC: 5 million dead....hell!!! Ivory Coast – Modern Time Genocide >100,000 dead and rising.

I am in agreement with you, again, in principle – and then only to a point. Not all of this should be laid at the feet of Obama. I hope that you would be fair and direct your (deserved) condemnations primarily to the Untied, er, sorry – United Nations. But again, in principle, as a self-professed "leader of the free world," the U.S and Obama has been sadly silent.

What they failed to mention at said Easter service:

, Jesus was a bit "touched". After all he thought he spoke to Satan, thought he changed water into wine, thought he raised Lazarus from the dead etc. In today's world, said Jesus would be declared legally insane.

Or did P, M, M, L and J simply make him into a first century magic-man via their epistles and gospels of semi-fiction? Most contemporary NT experts after thorough analyses of all the scriptures go with the latter magic-man conclusion with J's gospels being mostly fiction.

Obviously, today's followers of Paul et al's "magic-man" are also a bit on the odd side believing in all the Christian mumbo jumbo about bodies resurrecting, and exorcisms, and miracles, and "magic-man atonement, and infallible, old, European, white men, and 24/7 body/blood sacrifices followed by consumption of said sacrifices.

I thinking the same thing. How much churches must he attend to in order to convince everyone he's not a Muslim.

      @ Ozwar

"A blow"? Yep, sure. I'd say you're right, though not in the way you're thinking...

      @ Unknown

      "how much churches..."

He can go to as much churches as he wants to. The much church that he went to for ten years was a racist much church where much bad things were said, in fact, so much bad things were said that he stopped going to that much church when he was much associated with the much racist pastor. So, I thinking the much damage has been much done and Obama is much Muslim.

He was raised Muslim, and unless you can provide docu-mentation to show that he's publicly renounced his Muslim faith...

what's funny is the Obama family has attended church services 1000 times more than the Reagan family ever did; and don't have obvious use of astrology, yet the idiot "Tea Party" types think Reagan was somehow a "born-again Christian."

Reagan – yada yada. Kind of like an argument about ethics using Hitler. ZZZzzz.

BG – You are quite the Muslim-hater. I don't mind that. But do you really expect to find out the truth? Anyone can claim to believe anything and there is no way to prove them wrong.
Your pastor could be a secret scientologist and you'd never know. How could you prove it without hacking into their computers? You can't.
You can't even see what people are really thinking.
I'm not saying it's impossible, just improbable. He is more likely to be just another greedy politician without any real religion than a Muslim.
      If I wasn't half-asleep I'd have more interesting things to say. 🙂
