Israeli man killed near West Bank holy site

From Shira Medding, CNN

(CNN) - An Israeli man was killed and four others were wounded early Sunday morning near Joseph's Tomb, a Jewish holy site in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, an Israeli military spokesman said.

A Palestinian police officer shot the civilians "after identifying suspicious movements," the spokesman said, citing information about the incident provided by Palestinian officials.

Israeli police identified the man killed as Ben Yosef Livnat, 25. Livnat is the nephew of Limor Livnat, an Israeli cabinet minister from the right-wing ruling Likud party. Livnat was a father of four and lived in Jerusalem, police said.

The group of Jewish worshipers entered the site without proper permits and did not coordinate their visit to the tomb with Israeli or Palestinian officials, the Israeli military spokesman said.

Jewish worshipers often enter Joseph's Tomb, but are generally escorted by Israeli soldiers after coordination with Palestinian security officials in the area.

I hope this doesn't turn into another disaster like Ariel Sharon caused by visiting the Temple Mount several years ago, starting the violence of the intifada that lasted several years.

I doubt it. The Jerusalem Post haven't covered it as much as you might think.

it's "funny" that they used the same line for the palestinian police officer that the isreali use when ever they had murdered and massacured millions of people. For example, the isreali set of an illegal gas bomb ,at a lady who was standing far away from a protest...."she looked dangerous to us, we had to "defend our selves". HA HA HA ... :/ why dont they ever meantion the Palestinians that die from the Isreali's ??? no freedom of speech i guess ...

Yeah, they set up a gas bomb. Not like they had more efficient weapons like guns and bullets to deal with someone. Let's do something complex.

"why dont they ever meantion the Palestinians that die from the Isreali's ???"

Do you actually ever read the articles on CNN? Also, since the Palestinian sources lie quite a bit about who get's killed and for what reasons....it's kind of hard to find accurate news from them.

Sounds like the Palestinian security did what they were directed to do under the circ*umstances. The Israeli military would have done the same under similar circu*mstances.
