Annual report: Anti-Semitic incidents down worldwide but still high

Jerusalem (CNN) - Anti-Semitic incidents worldwide dropped sharply in 2010 from their peak in 2009, according to an annual report issued by an Israeli university on the eve of the nation's Holocaust Memorial Day.

However, the levels are significantly higher than they were a decade ago, when the upward trend began, according to the report from Tel Aviv University's Steven Roth Institute for the Study of Contemporary Anti-Semitism and Racism and the Kantor Center for the Study of European Jewry.

This is America. If someone is infringing on your rights to practice religion, or not practice religion, just get one of these [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjnltxaPDyE&w=640&h=390]

Anti-Semitism is just another strongest proof that mankind is altogether evil and that judgment is coming to this planet for sure.

@Tom – you have a concern about the amount of power and influence the Jewish ppl have yet you do not seem to raise the same concern for the power of your Catholic religion and it's church. It has power to influence politics and economies as well. Maybe there is a reason there is more hate shown towards Catholics than Jews as a whole.

Anti-Semitism is not a correct term to use. I struggle with it. I have jewish friends. I've been to jewish weddings and funerals. But I am extremely uncomfortable with the power they wield in this country. We have never ever had a christian Federal Reserve Chairman in this country. I literally hate what the Federal Reserve is doing to our financial system. Jews control much of our media in print, television and Hollywood. They have the money to steer our politicians in ways that benefit them. Much of these things are done in ways that are very subtle but none the less, effective. The Holocaust was a terriible thing but there were many other people who suffered at the hands of the Germans including my Polish relatives in the old country. It is very rare to see a movie or TV show that is critical of the Jewish race. Yet, I see critical shows on my Catholic religion. I don't have a problem with that but I do have a problem with the portrayal of jews as always the victims and always perfect. There is always something very scary when a people is portrayed as always perfect. Only God is perfect. I surmise that the general rise in anti-semistism is in reality a rebellion against a force that has their nose in too much of our business. This would be true even if the offending force was Russian, Chinese, Australian, or aliens from another planet. it's not as if you can boycott anything in particular either. They own much of everything that I depend on in my daily life. Instead of deciding to live under a rock, I choose to actively raise a warning to our country that any group, no matter who they are, that gain this much power, need to be watched very carefully.

I surmise that the general rise in anti-semitism is largely due to conspiracy theorists like yourself. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to return to my Torah studying. I hope that doesn't offend you too much.

[6:36] The only ones to respond are those who listen. GOD resurrects the dead; they ultimately return to Him.

[6:37] They said, "If only a certain sign could come down to him from his Lord!" Say, "GOD is able to send down a sign, but most of them do not know."

    Animals and Birds: Submitting Creatures*
[6:38] All the creatures on earth, and all the birds that fly with wings, are communities like you. We did not leave anything out of this book**. To their Lord, all these creatures will be summoned.

    Overwhelming Miracle of the Quran
[6:39] Those who reject our proofs are deaf and dumb, in total darkness. Whomever GOD wills, He sends astray, and whomever He wills, He leads in a straight path.

[6:40] Say, "What if GOD's retribution came to you, or the Hour came to you: would you implore other than GOD, if you are truthful?"

[6:41] The fact is: only Him you implore, and He answers your prayer, if He so wills, and you forget your idols.

[6:42] We have sent (messengers) to communities before you, and we put them to the test through adversity and hardship, that they may implore.

[6:43] If only they implored when our test afflicted them! Instead, their hearts were hardened, and the devil adorned their works in their eyes.

    The System*
[6:44] When they thus disregard the message given to them, we open for them the gates of everything. Then, just as they rejoice in what was given to them, we punish them suddenly; they become utterly stunned.

[6:45] The wicked are thus annihilated. Praise be to GOD, Lord of the universe.

    God Alone Worthy of Worship
[6:46] Say, "What if GOD took away your hearing and your eyesight, and sealed your minds; which god, other than GOD, can restore these for you?" Note how we explain the revelations, and note how they still deviate!

[6:47] Say, "What if GOD's retribution came to you suddenly, or after an announcement, is it not the wicked who incur annihilation?"

    Role of the Messengers
[6:48] We do not send the messengers except as deliverers of good news, as well as warners. Those who believe and reform have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.

[6:49] As for those who reject our revelations, they incur the retribution for their wickedness.

[6:50] Say, "I do not say to you that I possess the treasures of GOD. Nor do I know the future. Nor do I say to you that I am an angel. I simply follow what is revealed to me." Say, "Is the blind the same as the seer? Do you not reflect?"

[6:51] And preach with this (Quran) to those who reverence the summoning before their Lord – they have none beside Him as a Lord and Master, nor an intercessor – that they may attain salvation.

[6:52] And do not dismiss those who implore their Lord day and night, devoting themselves to Him alone. You are not responsible for their reckoning, nor are they responsible for your reckoning. If you dismiss them, you will be a transgressor.

[6:53] We thus test the people by each other, to let them say (mockingly), "Are these the people among us who are blessed by GOD?" Is GOD not aware of the appreciative ones?

[6:54] When those who believe in our revelations come to you, you shall say, "Salmun `Alaykum (Peace be upon you). Your Lord has decreed that mercy is His attribute. Thus, anyone among you who commits a transgression out of ignorance, and repents thereafter and reforms, then He is Forgiving, Most Merciful."

[6:55] We thus explain the revelations, and point out the ways of the wicked.

[6:56] Say, "I am forbidden from worshipping what you worship besides GOD." Say, "I will not follow your opinions. Otherwise, I will go astray, and not be guided."

[6:57] Say, "I have solid proof from my Lord, and you have rejected it. I do not control the retribution you challenge me to bring. Judgment belongs with GOD alone. He narrates the truth, and He is the best judge."

[6:58] Say, "If I controlled the retribution you challenge me to bring, the whole matter would have been terminated long ago. GOD knows best who the wicked are."

    Almighty God
[6:59] With Him are the keys to all secrets; none knows them except He. He knows everything on land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls without His knowledge. Nor is there a grain in the depths of the soil. Nor is there anything wet or dry, that is not recorded in a profound record.

    Death and Resurrection: Every Day*
[6:60] He is the One who puts you to death during the night, and knows even the smallest of your actions during the day. He resurrects you every morning, until your life span is fulfilled, then to Him is your ultimate return. He will then inform you of everything you had done.

[6:61] He is Supreme over His creatures, and He appoints guards to protect you. When the appointed time of death comes to any of you, our messengers put him to death without delay.

[6:62] Then everyone is returned to GOD, their rightful Lord and Master. Absolutely, He is the ultimate judge; He is the most accurate Reckoner.

[6:63] Say, "Who can save you from the darkness of the land or the sea?" You implore Him loudly and secretly: "If He saves us this time, we will be eternally appreciative."

[6:64] Say, "GOD does save you this time, and other times as well, then you still set up idols besides Him."

[6:65] Say, "He is certainly able to pour upon you retribution from above you, or from beneath your feet. Or He can divide you into factions and have you taste each others' tyranny. Note how we explain the revelations, that they may understand."

[6:66] Your people have rejected this, even though it is the truth. Say, "I am not a guardian over you."

[6:67] Every prophecy herein will come to pass, and you will surely find out.

Respect for the Word of God
[6:68] If you see those who mock our revelations, you shall avoid them until they delve into another subject. If the devil causes you to forget, then, as soon as you remember, do not sit with such evil people.

[6:69] The righteous are not responsible for the utterances of those people, but it may help to remind them; perhaps they may be saved.

[6:70] You shall disregard those who take their religion in vain, as if it is a social function, and are totally absorbed in this worldly life. Remind with this (Quran), lest a soul may suffer the consequences of its evil earnings. It has none beside GOD as a Lord and Master, nor an intercessor. If it could offer any kind of ransom, it would not be accepted. They suffer the consequences of the evil works they earn; they have incurred hellish drinks, and a painful retribution because of their disbelief.

[6:71] Say, "Shall we implore, beside GOD, what possesses no power to benefit us or hurt us, and turn back on our heels after GOD has guided us? In that case, we would join those possessed by the devils, and rendered utterly confused, while their friends try to save them: `Stay with us on the right path.' " Say, "GOD's guidance is the right guidance. We are commanded to submit to the Lord of the universe.

[6:72] "And to observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), and to reverence Him – He is the One before whom you will be summoned (for the reckoning)."

[6:73] He is the One who created the heavens and the earth, truthfully. Whenever He says, "Be," it is. His word is the absolute truth. All sovereignty belongs to Him the day the horn is blown. Knower of all secrets and declarations, He is the Most Wise, the Cognizant.

    Abraham Debates With Idol Worshipers
[6:74] Recall that Abraham said to his father Azar, "How could you worship statues as gods? I see that you and your people have gone far astray."

      Saving Muneef yet again:

The Five Steps To Deprogram 1400 Years of Islamic Myths:

( –The Steps take less than two minutes to finish- simply amazing, two minutes to bring peace and rationality to over one billion lost souls to include that of Arsalan Iftikhar – Priceless!!!)

      Are you ready?

Using "The 77 Branches of Islamic "faith" a collection compiled by Imam Bayhaqi as a starting point. In it, he explains the essential virtues that reflect true "faith" (iman) through related Qur’anic verses and Prophetic sayings." i.e. a nice summary of the Koran and Islamic beliefs.

The First Five of the 77 Branches:

      "1. Belief in Allah"

aka as God, Yahweh, Zeus, Jehovah, Mother Nature, etc. should be added to your cleansing neurons.

"2. To believe that everything other than Allah was non-existent. Thereafter, Allah Most High created these things and subsequently they came into existence."

Evolution and the Big Bang or the "Gi-b G-nab" (when the universe starts to recycle) are more plausible and the "akas" for Allah should be included if you continue to be a "crea-tionist".

"3. To believe in the existence of angels."

A major item for neuron cleansing. Angels/de-vils are the mythical creations of ancient civilizations, e.g. Hitt-ites, to explain/define natural events, contacts with their gods, big birds, sudden winds, protectors during the dark nights, etc. No "pretty/ug-ly wingy thingies" ever visited or talked to Mohammed, Jesus, Mary or Joseph or Joe Smith. Today we would classify angels as f–airies and "tin–ker be-lls". Modern de-vils are classified as the de-mons of the de-mented.

"4. To believe that all the heavenly books that were sent to the different prophets are true. However, apart from the Quran, all other books are not valid anymore."

Another major item to delete. There are no books written in the spirit state of Heaven (if there is one) just as there are no angels to write/publish/distribute them. The Koran, OT, NT etc. are simply books written by humans for humans.

Prophets were invented by ancient scribes typically to keep the un-educated masses in line. Today we call them for-tune tellers.

Prophecies are also invali-dated by the natural/God/Allah gifts of Free Will and Future.

"5. To believe that all the prophets are true. However, we are commanded to follow the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) alone."

Mohammed spent thirty days "fasting" (the Ramadan legend) in a hot cave before his first contact with Allah aka God etc. via a "pretty wingy thingy". Common sense demands a neuron deletion of #5. #5 is also the major source of Islamic vi-olence i.e. turning Mohammed's "fast, hunger-driven" hallu-cinations into horrible reality for unbelievers.

Walk these Five Steps and we guarantee a complete recovery from your Islamic ways!!!!

Unfortunately, there are not many Muslim commentators/readers on this blog so the "two-minute" cure is not getting to those who need it. If you have a Muslim friend, send him a copy and help save the world.

Analogous steps are available at your request for deprogramming the myths of Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Paganism at your request.

I glad the anti-semitic incidents are down. Do you think we can lay off attacks on John Paul II in this article since it has nothing at all to do with him? Lets talk about anti-simitism since thats what this article is about.

The irony is that much anti-semitism can be traced back to the New Testament especially in the writings of John and Paul. JPII should have chosen a different name for himself!!

Reality, it was the New Testament Christians who were heavily persecuted by the Jews. So it's the other way around. The old-time Europeans were not too bright in dealing with the Jews but they were still better than the rest of mankind.

Mary was impregnated with sperm, not some DNA-changing spirit-force.
Modern science and se-x education show that it is easy to impregnate a "virgin" with normal sperm.
Add a severely indoctrinated upbringing and you have a nutbar who goes around being "mystical". No big mystery here. And you don't get it, do you?

    • His Divine Holier Than Thoughness, Pope Larry

And even the gospels state that Jesus' family thought he was crazy and tried to take him away. Funny behavior from a family that grew up with the messiah and a mother who gave birth without getting impregnated . . . but perfectly rational behavior from a family who did not see anything supernatural or divine about their brother, and a mother who knew darn well that someone had knocked her up.

@G-, pregnancy without a sperm is possible with some creatures in this world. Jesus came to this world by the power of the Holy Spirit. His life proves it. He cannot be invented by human mind. @H-, read the Book of Jude in the New Testament Bible if you want to know how the earthly family of Jesus really felt about Him. They recognized Him as the Divine Lord.

It proves humans are evil and it will be always that way if left alone. Bullying kids alone show what we really are. God gave victims unusual wisdom and intelligence, and He will judge the whole world at the end. The Jews just need to realize Jesus of Nazareth is their long-awaited Messiah.

    May 1, 2011 at 9:26 pm |
    • God

Why do you think I only made the victims? I made the bullies, too. I made it all, the flowers, the diseases, the finest artists, the people who ra pe and murder children – all my creation. I made Vincent Van Gogh and Joseph Stalin and Leonardo Da Vinci and Jack the Ripper. All mine. And I made all those religions so that people would hate each other and divide themselves in the name of love.

And I made people like you who think that I only do the good things, that despite being omniscient and omnipotent, the bad things are somehow not me.

      May 2, 2011 at 1:08 am |
    • Adelina

@g-, however idiotic you are, God made you but not your sin or stupidity. You chose it. By "victims" above, I meant the Jews. Sadly, not all victims are intelligent. God made people and the world but we sinned, thus death and troubles entered into our world. Criminals always blame others for their crimes but there will be a fair trial and judgment.

  12. Thomas J. Delaney

If they declared JP II a Saint tomorrow morning it wouldn't change on atom, one drop of river water or the path of a single falling leaf. SO why is there such agitation over it? He (himself) did nothing. The abuse of children by Priests, Brothers and Nuns is international and over 500 years old. Just get on with it.

    May 1, 2011 at 8:55 pm |
    • Adelina

Thomas, Pope guided 1 billion humans to a right path and liberated millions of suffering people under atheism, bringing them freedom. He contributed much more than any secular political leaders. Crimes of abuse happen in every human insti tution because hypocrites and criminals are everywhere. Why don't you get it?

    • CheekyClare

You are aware aren't you that sadly a vast majority of children molested are molester by adult members in their family. Remove the Church from the earth and most children are still getting abused.

A vast majority of priests and nuns are doing wonderful things around the world, and have done so for 2000 years – from building the first schools and hospitals, to continuing to support the homeless, the poor, the abandoned.

You are clearly a sad bigot.

Anti-semitism down? Another miracle for Pope John Paul II ! ! !

Stock market up? Another miracle for John Paul II ! ! !

That's all the evidence anyone needs to believe that God is real and Catholicism his one and only path. It just keeps getting better and better for us Catholics.

    • Adelina

@His-(whatever), Anti-Semitism should not exist at all and so should not any bullying at schools, but the fact is those still do exist rampantly. The true Christian Church is invisible. Anyone who genuinely believes in Jesus is a part of the holy Apostolic Church of Christ which is invisible until Jesus returns.

Please give factual examples of how Evangelicals are oppressed in the U.S. What have you heard? What do you know?

Just because we feel free to disagree and to tell them that we think they are full of hot air, doesn't mean that we 'oppress' them.

Perhaps that is how YOU, as a rigid zealot, would deal with those with whom you disagree (round them up and prohibit them); but it doesn't mean that it is what is happening here.

If churches are closing, it is because their message is failing.

"If churches are closing, it is because their message is failing."
While some churches close, dozens of new ones are opening every week, and they're usually more trendy to meet the needs of modern consumers of worship services. So, to be clear, churches fail mostly because of financial woes, like many other small businesses.

      May 2, 2011 at 8:18 am |
    • Maybe

Yes, you said it better. I just didn't want Adelina to think that the church closures in the U.S. (and elsewhere) that she may have read about are caused by the government or by non-believers.

Guys, I meant people like you. Evangelicals are growing in USA. But atheists like yourselves are oppressing religious people.

      May 2, 2011 at 8:34 pm |

The definition of "oppress" is: To keep down by severe and unjust use of force or authority.

If you have examples of this occurring in the U.S., let us hear about them.

      May 2, 2011 at 10:38 pm |
    • somervillechangeling

Jews are no more racist than any other ethnic group in the world. That said, we are all racists, we are all adulterers, we are all thieves. We are all murderers. If we desire something in our heart, but do not act on it, we are guilty from God's perspective.

It's not hopeless. Christ's atonement works once for all. We can argue over theology, over theories of atonement, over universal reconciliation vs. eternal separation for sinners, but we can't argue over the need humanity has for salvation. We can't do it ourselves. We can only work out our salvation in fear and trembling if we place that salvation in God's hands, not our own.

We all miss the mark, we all transgress, we all rebel against God. We all are not deserving of God's love and the free gift God provides in Christ. So, I hope that anyone who claims that Jews are racists examines the plank in their own eye before they point to the mote in the eye of another. As a Jewish Christian (but with a Scotch-Irish mother, so I'm not halachically Jewish but I did go to a conservative shul for decades), I quite understand any problems Jews have with Gentiles considering world and family history. I would have been Jewish enough for Hitler to murder. I just don't understand the canards and constant hatred directed at Jews. It's less in the Christian world today and more in the Moslem workd, but it's still around and will be until God redeems the world and removes sin once for all from our hearts and from history.

I'd like to hear her examples of oppression from Atheist and Liberals and proof that Evangelicals are rising in the U.S., not only does she have to look up what the word Liberal means, at least she doesn't have too look up the word oppression since she doesn't know what that word means either

there is no proof of any oppression to Evangelicals but we can show you proof of Evangelicals oppressing other religions and there is no rise, actually we've had a drop in Evangelicals in recent years. More people waking up sorry Adelina your making stuff up again. More lying bigot, intolerant, and ignorant behavior from you.
