Maine mosque vandalized

Members of southern Maine's Muslim community are expressing outrage after their community center was spray painted with hurtful messages in response to the death of Osama bin Laden.

Some time after morning prayer at the Maine Muslim Community Center on Andersen Street in Portland ended Monday, someone spray painted 'Osama Today, Islam Tomorrow' and 'Go Home' on the front and side of the building.

@ Don. If they are all soooo innocent then they should stand up and get rid of these radicals. If most are innocent over there then the over 1 billion people should get rid of the few who tarnish their reputation.

You are a person that is filled with hate nothing but hate in all of your blogs...wasn't it you who wished once that all Muslims and Arabs be blown up by some nuclear bomb,Where you quoted a verse about some march to Jerusalem?

Find it difficult to believe that a believer of any faith would be so filled with hatred? My God you must be suffering some emotional, spiritual problem but just you should watch your health more. And may God light and lighten your way, God has mercy only for those who have mercy for others...

I'm not full of hate. I just refuse to be hoodwinked into believeing islam is peaceful. UBL gets killed and people in Pakistan burn the U S flag in protest??? Our supposed allies??? Al Qaida threatens a nuclear hell if UBL is ever killed or captured?? My message would be a MAD response to any country that would supply them with a nuke....i.e. the sea of glass. MAD(mutual assured destruction). Do you remember 911? Muslims around the world were cheering-honking horns, passing out candy when we got hit. And I dare say these weren't the extremist elements-these were every day, joe-blow muslims. I refuse also to be hoodwinked when Obama is supporting an international law in the U N that prevents people from criticizing islam. Why do we have to walk on eggshells with these people? Don't burn a koran, don't draw a cartoon of muhammed...good grief. On 9-11-2001, I was minding my own business. Islam attacked me and the American way of life on that day. They brought this on themselves. You reap what you sow. And I refuse to go sensitivity classes to try understand the people who attacked me. I'm not full of hate, I just refuse to be attacked for no good reason, then be told I actually deserved it. If you people can't understand that, tough. Take your caliphate elsewhere. If you try to set it up here I will resist you at every turn. Any questions?

Understand your feelings of grief just as you supposed to understand the same for all innocents that suffer due the same old game that has been played for many years now by the war lords at all ends..

Assure you that Islam did not attack you but rather a certain group or groups that have chosen to use the name of Islam in their plots...for a far reason exceeding our short sights of their intentions... What has Islam gained since this event was pulled? How many Arabs and Muslims had to pay life and blood since then? How many countries invaded since then?

Before events America never stood beside Islam when Muslims were being killed Globally but rather stood by their killers side....how about Israelies vs Palestinians...? Maybe that only made some Arabian and Islamic cheer the event with out true understanding but rather in their mind that the tyrant got hurt in his Ego rather than any thing else... But never they did know that the same country who calls for freedom and human rights for the good of all beings to become a beast who did all that is against he was calling for just because some group was using a population as a human shield?!

Jeez, gotta loue these islamophobes, man...guess they caught this mosque sobbing it up in the wake of obl's death through that keen eye of bigotry and paranoia while civilized people focus on the end of an actual terrorist.
@Keith – yeah, send them back to pakistan, because thats where they're all from. Impeccable logic.
And this just in: all people of asian descent are actually from china, and meanwhile, all christians are white. As for the rest of your post, lets hope you dont call yourself a christian.

To hell with the muslim community in Maine, Michigan, Pakistan,....where ever. Go back to Pakistan if you don't like it. Then turn Pakistan into a sea of glass that a coc-kroach would be afraid to inhabit. It's not radical islam that we are at war with, it is islam. Period.

This is what happens because your parents didn't follow Jesus' truth listed below:

Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Proverbs 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

Now we are left with big egos of the spoiled brats that were never reprimanded and told His truth. All of His truth.

Punishing Osama was justified as with all criminals...anf for humanity as a whole Gandhi said it best "an eye for an eye can make the world blind" so do not be manipulated into violence, those who seek violence as a means to end will never be sucessful, and those among us who preach hate and intolerance stand against the values of America and humanity.

Lets not follow the narration by warmongers be in Osama or our Army...Lets not forget that for over 20 years we were printed materials in University of Nebraska for refugee camps in Balochistan/ Pakhtunkwa, Pakistan and Afghanistan when we had to brain wash the children to kill communists...go research it...we printed things like 2 Kalashinkovs + 2 Kalashinkovs= 4 Kalashinkovs, 1 communist + 1 communist= 2 dead communists....:Lets learn to live with eachother to solve problems and find a way to accept 10 billion people by next century instead of killing eachother for influence, power and resources using violence

Any proof non-Muslims did this? I mean, where's the proof? No body, no proof. Isn't that what our Muslim friends the world over are presently saying? So let's not jump to conclusions here, people. I'm not condoning this hateful act and hope whoever did it is punished but we should wait and see if the culprit is caught. He just may turn out to be a Muslim.

    May 4, 2011 at 1:25 pm |

Highly unlikely, also I'm pretty sure its American's Republicans who want to see the body because they can't believe Obama got Osama.

All the people wringing their hands over the celebrations now have something for real to seeth about. This sort of knuckle-headed hate-mongering is wrong in its own right and can only fan the flames of further ill will.

      @ Peace

Seems that we disagree on this one...

"and can only fan the flames of further ill will."

Ever see a gasoline fire? It goes along pretty well on it's own... all the "winds" do is blow it back and forth. God forbid we should 'offend' considering the ongoing "ill will" from Islamists. "Will" goes both ways..

er... sorry to anyone named William. I didn't mean... you know..

Oh... I don't know -BG, we may not disagree as much as you may think we do here. I do know where you are coming from.

I just don't see any real useful purpose here in vandalizing anyone's property, let alone someone's place of worship. As you said in your post below, if for some reason someone thinks that they have just cause or reason to properly and legally protest...no problem.

And, it is true what you say about 'will' going both ways. Maybe... it's best to sometimes take the higher road, and 'not' do something as ridiculous as vandalizing a place of worship, whether we agree with their religion(any religion) for that matter or not.

Sometimes, it's best to 'not' add potentially (more) 'fuel to a fire.'...yes...?

I think we both know where we each come from here, given our many postings. I would think that you know we -agree- way more than we disagree here on this topic.

      And...yes, I agree with @Rogue... very funny !

      Peace brother...

@BG Nothing burns unless there's oxygen present, genius. And while this one act of vandalism won't increase the already hot anti-American passions ab-road, if it is implicitly condoned by others shrugging it off and therefore emulated, you've made things a lot worse for no good reason. And few things are as des-picably cowardly as combining vandalism with anonymous threats. That is SO disgusting that this act deserves condemnation regardless of the target, not inept fire metaphors like gasoline burning "on its own". Yeesh. This is seventh grade science we're talking here ...

It's not balless to respect our neighbours. It's ignorant and cowardly not to respect humanity and people. We did the same thing in the past to Jews, blacks, Italian, and other races. So let our neighbors know we all stand for a great America, and for world empty of hate, violence, terrorism and racism. Sad to see this stuff happen in this great country of our. God bless America and may god bless us Americans with more wisdom to make the world a better place.
