Doomsday hits: An end of the world soundtrackSo many songs, so little time. To hear it from the followers of the Christian broadcasting network Family Radio, Saturday will mark the beginning of the end. Those who’ve been selected for salvation will move on to heaven, but the rest will experience unspeakable suffering until the world ends on October 21. With all this doomsday talk, we at CNN have been contemplating our favorite end-of-the-world songs – music to listen to as the world falls apart, if you will. Here is our top 10 list, to get the soundtrack rolling. |

I think beliefs and human insuotttiins go in natural cycles. We might be seeing the beginning of the end for Catholicism (and to Christianity itself to a lesser extent). No matter how much the Pope struggles against it he can't stop the big social trends: traditional Christianity is dying.I blogged about this .

established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing
dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that
Earth is a few generations old.
4 – You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those
who share your beliefs - though excluding those in all rival sects – will spend Eternity
in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant"
and "loving."
3 – While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to
convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues"
may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.
2 – You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers.
You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the
remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.
1 – You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the
Bible, Christianity, and church history – but still call yourself a Christian.

1. It's only true regarding "Christians" who attend church twice a year. Untrue for weekly attending Christians. Atheists and agnostics know nothing about their own history.
2. Prayer is communication with God, getting to know Him. Christians are neither childish or selfish. Prayers get answered in Jesus 100%.
3. All fields of knowledge proved Christianity is true. Not every Christian speaks in tongues.
4. Christianity teaches the ultimate justice in hell and the Way out (Jesus) as it is the most vital reality for sinful mankind.
5. Existence of human beings prior to 7,000 years are unproved. There is no scientific methods of measuring Earth's age or of the universe – only speculations. Age of the world is not a Christian core doctrine, however.
6. The Holy Spirit's working is nothing to do with human imaginations. The reason Christianity alone is clean and promotes purity while pagan religions are immoral and promotes such one way or another.
7. Egyptians were punished for slaughter of Hebrew babies and all their cruelty upon non-Egyptians. Joshua had to destroy only tribes that would contaminate the land like Sodom and Gomorrah would in order to protect others and the future generations from their evil. Meanwhile, God takes care of innocent en-ti-ties.
8. God and humans are different. God is One in Three Persons, not three gods. Human mind cannot fathom Him entirely. We have His Word, however.
9. Science proved species cannot evolve but instead everything was created, designed and programmed. All the ingredients in dirt are found in human body. Scientific.
10. There is only one God. Christians don't get outraged but always educate mankind on truth. It's atheists who get outraged if anyone doesn't agree with their immoral, meaningless fantasies.
Adelina...what are the ingredients of dirt?.. if you came from dirt maybe you are one of those dirty Christians you talk about. Maybe you god is made of mud...hes about as clear as it.

What I think of religion. I hope you gleam a small bit of useful information as I have. What games religion is playing in America and the world today? We live in a rare time and country where we can choose for ourselves how much or little Religion we want in our lives, but the followers of most religions just don’t understand the word no! Not in my life not in my schools not in my government, NO! is the choice I have made for me and my family, the following reasons are part of the problem as I see it.
First: religion is in no way real. The word religion or god is nothing more than an expression or product of human fear and weaknesses or imagination in some cases. The Bible/Koran, a collection of ancient myths and stories borrowed from many different cultures over hundreds of centuries or longer. Sadly the followers of Christianity, Islam, and others want to make decisions for us all based on there interpretation of books that are in no way real. These groups are working hard and spending millions trying to influence our politicians to pass laws based on there interpretation of these books. Trying to convert the USA into a religious state. I hope to never see any religious icons on our flag, because then it would be a good time to leave.
Second: Religion no longer has a place in the real world. It divides us as a people to choose ignorance over logic, to forsake the future for a ruthless past. A Wall of Separation is supposed to protect us from all religious infringement upon our school’s teachings of science to find real truth and knowledge. Not to pass out fairytales to our children of some aged dogma from an era long dead, our children deserve better.
Many of these groups place supernatural abilities on some of its members, born of a virgin or walk on water or cure the blind sick or to fly. Throughout history you will find many who have claimed the same feats, again they are all wrong. No interpretation no matter how subtle can change the fact these are nothing but stories meant to entertain or teach something to the people of that era nothing more.
Religion, as an idea has been with us before recorded history from early man’s worshiping of nature to Charlemagne’s murder of the innocent in the name of Christianity, to jets crashing into towers in the name of Islam. Coerced observance is the main method almost all these religions use. Worship me or you will be tortured for all eternity or murdered out right. Fear mongering, or coercion is tyranny! Remember the Dark Age’s religions rule in that dark, distant past didn’t serve our ancestors well it certainly won’t serve us any better today! These are the labels I proudly wear heretic, infidel, atheist, man of science, freethinker.
Third: We put our trust in our elected officials to maintain the wall of separation, to prevent religion’s ever reaching grasp from tainting the consideration of new laws, as well as research designed to help many! This country was not founded on the rule of any ones religion, but more the lack of religious influence in the governing of this country. But time and again you hear religious overtones spouting out of our leaders, The wall is crumbling. The time for the burning of witches, belief in a flat earth, the murdering of doctors, and crimes against women and children or religions many other immoral and vile acts committed against humanity as a whole can no longer and should no longer be tolerated no matter what religious book or god demands it.
Anyone of good conscience should agree with what I have said and ban together, so we can bring this country the very world we live on into the 21st century free of these groups hold on our minds and revel in all the promise this century has to offer so our children's children's children will look back in pride an see we did what we did for them and there posterity. This is after all a very small world and a grate leaping point into the vast unknown. I so hope more minds are opened and see beyond the centuries of engrained dogma. I just hope it`s not layed to waste by then.

I have seen you post it before; and since I presume that you might post it again here or elsewhere, I just wanted to clue you in to a couple of spelling errors. I imagine that you would rather have it be closer to perfect, yes?
Here are a few that popped out at me:
– gleam = glean
– there interpretation = their (2 places)
– out right = outright
– ever reaching = ever-reaching
– any ones religion = anyone's
– ban together = band
– these groups hold = groups'
– there posterity = their
– grate leaping point = great
– layed to waste = laid

God created mankind but He didn't create atheists, because evil and stupidity are some people's willful choice.
Adelina.. I feel so sorry for you... your jaded views of humanity must cause you be so bitter...You encounter atheists every day but you would be unaware of that fact as they are nice people, but you must continue to hate them in order to elevate your faith. Atheists are here too help you understand if only you would reach out...... you would have a happier life as most of your co-religionists have.. they understand that we are the same, but differ in some views only.
Christians don't necessarily hate atheists as people. In fact, as Christians, we are called to love our enemies. It is not the person that we hate, but their beliefs.

The world is ending at his own words and he is talking about He is the preacher who has the biggest platform in preaching common. If truly the world was ending this man would persway people in love. When people set dates they will be awfully left in sadness. All the money the thousand and millions of dollar of advertisement could have gone to feeding poor people. That is the gospel helping our fellowmen in need and thus gloryfing God. How sad, and really how sad it is when people get deceived by people saying they know the date! How plain should Jesus had been in His words, NO MEN KNOWETH THE DAY OR HOUR! If Jesus wanted us to believe at the end of days that we could figure out the date then he would have say, No men knoweth the hour yet or at the end of days God will reveal the day and hour but He didnt say that. What this men does is putting himself and his minstery to shame putting God name and gospel to shame and dissapointing people. This simply discredits the gospel. How sad, im so sad for the people being deceived. I quess there is always people getting deceived anyways. I wonder if it is truly so easy to just stand up and say we can know the date when the bible says otherwise. God warned us of these things and preachers like these have gone saying things to people with the name of God and God did not tell them to do so. Prophecy was never given to men to know the date but to look back and belief in God word. Why would one want to know the date? This man is sadly mistaken and I don't know what he will say today or tommorow when he realize that Jesus means what he says. NO MEN KNOWETH THE DAY OR HOUR. Great Tribulation lasts for 3 years and 6 months. If CNN cares so much about the "doomsday", they should listen to and report on real Christian scholars(Evangelicals), not this group.

T-party, nice to see you. You must pray to God, asking for help, in Jesus' name. Ask Him of forgiveness first for all your past blasphemies and refusal to trust in Him. Admit you are a sinner and ask Him to help you understand His Truth, to reveal Himself to you. Start reading the New Testament Bible, especially the Gospels in it. Go to a Christ-centered, Bible-believing church on Sunday and listen to God's servants there. Talk with them. And if you are convinced, accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord anytime. God will forgive all your sins, make you a new person, His child, who can live a pure, God-intended life. Keep reading the Bible, praying to God in Jesus' name, attending church on Sunday, and learn how to grow as a Christian. The Holy Spirit who resides in every believer in Jesus will help you. Always ask questions, never blaspheme.
