Mark Burnett to turn the Bible into a seriesOh Lord, the Bible is being turned into a miniseries. According to the Hollywood Reporter, reality TV producer Mark Burnett will be helming the series, which will be a "five-part, 10-hour scripted docu-drama with live-action and state-of-the-art CG" to air on the History Channel. "This is probably the most important book in mankind, regardless of your beliefs or religious affiliation," History president and general manager Nancy Dubuc told THR. "This series will bring the historical stories of the Bible to life for a new generation. Read the full story about Burnett's Bible series on CNN's Marquee blog. |

I can't wait for the special effects needed to shoot the Genesis story: Genesis 1:11-12 and 1:26-27 Trees came before Adam.
Genesis 2:4-9 Trees came after Adam.
Genesis 1:20-21 and 26-27 Birds were created before Adam.
Genesis 2:7 and 2:19 Birds were created after Adam.
Genesis 1:24-27 Animals were created before Adam.
Genesis 2:7 and 2:19 Animals were created after Adam.
Genesis 1:26-27 Adam and Eve were created at the same time.
Genesis 2:7 and 2:21-22 Adam was created first, woman sometime later.
I recommend the "scooby-doo" wave from top to bottom for each of the contradicting truths.
Chris Barber – Thanks for posting this: what a wudrenfol insight into what the holy spirit is giving you now. I've been doing some discerning with my yoga group: using images from An Inspired Eye and other sources not sure I can describe the gifts I'm receiving from that, but your insight & the poem you shared bring the same feelings up in me.

There is accurate history in the Bible, so being on the History channel makes sense. The problem comes from people using the historically true stories as proof that *everything* in the Bible must be true, which is absurd.
@KC, suicide bombers have similar belief. This is not proof that heaven awaits them.
The involved with the Heavens Gate fiasco had similar beliefs, but I don't think they're currently riding on any comment.
Believing something to be true is not proof that it is true.
@ Juggling Squirrel-Bejesus
I concur.
Oh they may very well be riding on a comment, the only question is was it one of their earlier comments or later comments.
Well, I've heard of people's supposed accounts of going there in near death experiences; however, I'm not taking stock in take because there could be other possible explanations for the "bright lights" they see at death...
Proof will come after death, I guess???
Transcending time & space?? Could be true, but proof patiently waits for us... ๐
Maybe the proof of heaven comes from the peace that I have when I think of death??? For example, I invite death to come because I'm excited to be in heaven.
@Fred, Einstein did, indeed classify himself as an atheist in a letter to Guy Raner:
" From the viewpoint of a Jesuit priest I am, of course, and have always been an atheist. I have repeatedly said that in my opinion the idea of a personal God is a childlike one."

In order to SEE the kingdom of Heaven, you must become child-like... Einstein is quoting scripture...LOL
"In order to SEE the kingdom of Heaven, you must become child-like"
Well of course you do because the only ones who believe in fairy tales is children. It's only when you become a mature adult you realize it's complete hogwash.
@ So
That's what's interesting about God ... He uses opposites to confound us
"He uses opposites to confound us"
Try telling that to the people in Joplin that lost everything.
@So
You missed the earlier conversation about "Evil is the absence of God"- Einstein.... But don't be confused.... Einstein WAS an atheist... ๐
"Evil is the absence of God"- Einstein
Yet, God is omniscient, omnipresent so how could this quote be, right? Unless He was there in Joplin? His ways are not our ways.. I guess
"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own - a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism's."
- Albert Einstein
Nice to hear you comment, Stevie7 & Fred... Just speculating... throwing an idea out there... ya know? How would I know if the absence of God shifts the tectonic plates?
No, I don't believe God wants those things to occur... U?

@Doc Vestibule, I can't post on page 2. Here is my reply. I never stated non-christian societies deserve to be wiped out; it's your imagination and you atheists are the ones wanting to wipe out the religious people for no reason. You never try to interpret or remember correctly. No wonder you are so warped in talking about the Bible. Certain Canaanites in Joshua's time deserved annihilation as their wickedness was full, irreversable and incurable like Sodom and Gomorrah and Noah's time, but it was the few exception. Israelites always offered surrender first if there should be wars. Humane nations modeled Israel.
Adelina.. atheists do not want to wipe anyone out, that's one of your fantasies that assist you maintain your faith. From your posts you appear have little tolerance for any one ,Christian or not, who have a more peaceful view of life. I am hoping that as you grow older you will increase your understanding of life, and see its real beauty through the eyes of a human being, not a supernatural wish.
Hopefully, the series will continue the following analyses with respect to bringing the bible to the new generation:
Actually, Jesus was a bit "touched in the head". After all he thought he spoke to Satan, thought he changed water into wine, thought he raised Lazarus from the dead etc. In today's world, said Jesus would be declared legally insane.
Or did P, M, M, L and J simply make him into a first century magic-man via their epistles and gospels of semi-fiction? Most contemporary NT experts after thorough analyses of all the scriptures go with the latter magic-man conclusion with J's gospels being mostly fiction.
Obviously, today's followers of Paul et al's "magic-man" are also a bit on the odd side believing in all the Christian mumbo jumbo about bodies resurrecting, and exorcisms, and miracles, and "magic-man atonement, and infallible, old, European, white men, and 24/7 body/blood sacrifices followed by consumption of said sacrifices. Yummy!!!!
===================================================================================
This series or nothing in this world can cure atheists gone mad. It takes a miracle.
Adelina, you ideas are so misguided I don't think there is any hope for you at all. You can't possibly believe the stuff you write, it reads like someone from the 1200.
JohnQuest, you secular Westerners have become hopelessly stupid because you never learned your own history. The follies of stupid attempt to erase God from science wasn't enough for you. Your ancestors were far smarter and better in character in 1200's. You guys are buch of perverts now.

LMAO!!!! LOL! LMAO! LOL! Nice judgments! LMAO! You are in no way a true Christian. LOL! Hey Satan nice job in being deceitful with this one.
Adelina.. insults do not equate to proof of god, at least the god that most of the folks here believe in. I think most people on here feel sorry that you have such jaded view of humanity, I can only hope that your condition improves as age works it magic. I can almost guarantee that every one on this forum has both atheist and christian friends, and while of course we disagree in some areas, bottom line is that underneath we are all the same good bad funny, sad, loving and hateful...altruism is inherent in humans beings...with out it we would not have survived.
@Myweightinwords, @The Bobinator, @LoneZero, @Civiloutside @Doc Vestibule, my final replies to your comments on page 1 are posted on page 2. Read my replies if you will. I may not come back to this news page again. In that case, see me somewhere else. I suggest all of you to come out of your own cage of darkness( willful ignorance) and learn the Bible authentically. Your small mind can never beat something so deeply good like the Bible or Christianity. You will just prove how evil and stupid you are. Ask Christians questions like an honest person and don't blaspheme.
I might suggest the same to you (come out of your cage of darkness). Open your eyes and see the world as it is, not as you expect it to be based on what you believe.
Peace to you.
@My-, God's Word is not relative but it is absolute. Thank you for wishing me peace. It's peaceful when you have nothing noble to believe in. False peace does not last long. Don't take Christians like me as hard. Truth is what you need more than anything else. Human life needs surgery, not soft bandaid all the time. My-, I was glad to interact with you. I'll pray for you. Please remember Jesus alone gives you true peace.
@Adelina
"You call me lier but you can't prove it"
"America was a Christian nation, created by Christians"
The Founding Fathers were deist and not Christians and the treaty of Tripoli states "The U.S. is by no way founded on Christianity"
That makes you an ignornat brainwashed liar who loves the U.S. so much yet knows nothing about it, I can prove that. The last time this was proven to you, you vanished and changed your name then continued to spew the same trash. I never said anything about that day. Take your own advice "Don't waste other people's time with your trash unless you really have something worth to say" like maybe facts and evidence to your lying factless claims.
@LoneZero, but American do-cu-ments and leaders' writings were always dis-tinct Christian until about 30 years ago. If you think anything was noteworthy, that's quotes or ideas from the Bible. Because you don't know the origin, you know nothing. You must be a fairly new immigrant to America. I never meant vanishing. I either could not get back to the page or unable to reply because of over-whelming volumes or time short-age. I had to change my user name because your kinds hi-jacked mine in the most des-pi-cable ways. Bullying is atheist's thing. You always form a group and bully one individual; it's your way of doing things. You have no respect for women or minorities at that.
They are probably afraid of the Bible because they have already made up their minds about being atheists and do not want to change. (Change is painful and uncertain). You don't see any of them quoting Shakespeare or Frost or Michner either (they fear anything that challenges them). The castigate the Bible and yet it's pretty clear that have not read any of it. Well it is 66 books and it takes some effort (and focus) just to read it through. BUT THEN (even if you are a believer) there are questions and issues and conflicts. So it may take years to reconcile some parts of it .. to "get it." Oh they do not like that kind of uncertainty. They would never like to THINK about it .. re-read .. ask questions (get answers to questions). So it is easier to take pot shots at what they think is said in a book they do not read and cannot understand.
"So it is easier to take pot shots at what they think is said in a book they do not read and cannot understand"
No, you have to make assumptions about others because you don't understand that they have actually read it, just like Shakespeare and realize it's just another book of made up stories. After reading it, you realize how weak minded someone has to be to follow it, especially since it plagiarizes other pagan religions of that time. Or...have you not read and taken the time to understand that. LOL!
@Adelina,
And I will pray for you as well, that you might find truth and peace that frees you, as it has me.
@Adelina
"@LoneZero, but American do-cu-ments and leaders' writings were always dis-tinct Christian until about 30 years ago"
So from the beginning till 30 years ago doc-uments and writings were dis-tinct Christian? Sorry, once again that's not true.
The U.S. Consti-tution in 1787 never mentions God and then mention of religion is in article 6; "no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States".
The US Treaty with Tripoli, in 1796 states "Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"
your lying again. From the beginning, American docu-ments /writings were never dis-tinctly Christian or ever were. Your words are moot as are the rest of you comment. I feel for you, who ever brainwashed and deluded your mind with such ignorant fact less, baseless claims did one he-ck of a job.
@Frogist: Your problem is insisting that there are good humans when in fact there is no such a person. Be realistic. Stop being naive by having false pretentions. You must worship God AND also do what is right. Both are required for true followers of God. What happened to you as a typical atheist is this: You have imagined up a false image of God and a false concept of Christianity in your mind and then attacks them furiously. That's an immoral folly. Please be willing to learn instead of keeping imagining and hating.
@David Johnson: Biblical miracles happen today. Anything recorded in the Bible is more scientific and more believable than your dogmatic claim that creation creates itself. You atheists are so spiritual about the origin of the world you should not have any trouble believing in miracles written in the Bible.
That's right .. miracles are happening all around us .. every baby born and breathing it's first minute of air .. and sure humans are involved in miracles (babies, transplants, chemo, hip and knee replacements) Waking up is a miracle if anyone thought about it. Another gift - one more day. Friends are miracles (people who care about you just because they do). God's splendor is a miracle (dolphins, pelicans, eagles, .. ants). It's all pretty remarkable and impossible according to "odds" and yet - there it is. Miracles are more powerful than atom bombs (which merely destroy on a large scale), Miracles rebuild communities, educate children, relieve pain and suffering, happen because somebody cares enough (was moved); miracles are happening all around us. (but we need to SEE it)
"Miracles rebuild communities, educate children, relieve pain and suffering, happen "
Ummm....with this mentality that means your God had to created the destruction of the communities, cause the pain and suffering so the it could relieve it. Duh.
Fred,
Not God.. the absence of God has causes this....
Fred,
Not God.. the absence of God has caused this....
A lack of god causes natural disasters? How does that work. How does an absence of god manipulate the atmosphere or shift tectonic plates? If a tornado hits a desolate, uninhabited area, is it also due to an absence of god?
And really, aren't you saying that because an absence of god causes disasters, that god allowed those disaster to occur to those who didn't believe in him.
that comment made zero sense on so many levels...
"Not God.. the absence of God has caused this"
LOL! Those that take Genesis literally then God created everything, in doing so he created the disasters, pain and suffering in order for others to claim the "miracles." DUH! Come on now, he created the great flood now didn't he. LOL!
Nice to hear you comment, Stevie7 & Fred... Just speculating... throwing an idea out there... ya know? How would I know if the absence of God shifts the tectonic plates?
No, I don't believe God wants those things to occur... You?
Fred & Stevie7....
Have you heard of a guy by the name of Albert Einstein?
I believe he was the original person to use this quote on an atheist professor... "Evil is the absence of God" I didn't mean to plagiarize... honestly, I was just pondering
KC – you'll have to try harder. Einstein WAS an atheist.
Really? Did you speak to Einstein today? Or did you READ that somewhere... Do you believe everything you read? How is it that an atheist is admitting "Evil is the absence of God."
If Einstein was atheist than he doesn't believe there IS a God, right?
"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this."
- Albert Einstein
"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own – a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism's."
โ Albert Einstein
"A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."
- Albert Einstein
"Do you believe everything you read? "
Do you?
Einstein didn't want people to use his beliefs or non-beliefs about God to prove or disprove arguments on religion...
"Evil is the absence of God."
This line was stated to have been used by Einstein in an exchange with a professor but there is no evidence that this ever took place. Itโ is rumored that someone added his name to it and it started circulating in 2004. If you read Einsteinโs autobiography, he states his religious atti-tudes ended when he was 12. He was skeptical but I donโt believe he would clas-sify himself and atheist since he has referred to a god but not the biblical one.
So does that mean we might see him in heaven? ๐
"So does that mean we might see him in heaven? "
There is no heaven and if you think there is one prove it.
@ Fred
Well, I've heard of people's supposed accounts of going there in near death experiences; however, I'm not taking stock in take because there could be other possible explanations for the "bright lights" they see at death...

Transcending time & space?? Could be true, but proof patiently waits for us...
Maybe the proof of heaven comes from the peace that I have when I think of death??? For example, I invite death to come because I'm excited to be in heaven. Is this proof, that I'm willing to die now to be there?
"Maybe the proof of heaven comes from the peace that I have when I think of death??? For example, I invite death to come because I'm excited to be in heaven. Is this proof, that I'm willing to die now to be there?"
I have peace of death because I know my energy and essence of who I am will return to earth to come back as something else.
Fred
Do you get to pick what you become?
The point is KC religion doesn't hold the key for not being afraid of death and having peace in your life.. You can have peace in and not fear what comes next. It's because you fear there is nothing more you choose to believe you will go to a "heaven" – I don't have those insecurities like you.
