Dutch right-winger Wilders cleared of anti-Muslim charges

(CNN) - Controversial Dutch politician Geert Wilders was cleared Thursday of inciting hatred against Muslims, the Dutch justice ministry said.

Wilders was tried for inciting discrimination and hatred over a controversial film he made about Islam.

The court in Amsterdam said comments by the leader of of the Party for Freedom were "denigrating," but not illegal, the ministry said.

Wilders' film "Fitna," which he released online in March 2008 to international outcry, features disturbing images of terrorist acts superimposed over verses from the Quran in an apparent attempt to paint Islam as a threat to Western society.

It drew complaints from the European Union and the Organization of the Islamic Conference, as well as concern from the United States.

Comments Wilders made in a variety of media between 2006 and 2008 formed part of the case against him.

Read the full story here about the case against Wilders.

      Marie, your blog raises many issues, particularly one regarding the OIC and their determination to have anti-Muslim rhetoric be illegal. Although Wilders was completely out of line in his creation of that film and also in his comments, he still holds the right to free speech, which any laws against hate speech would be compromising.

      As you may know, the OIC is in the process of creating a human rights body. Although this is considered by many a step towards progress for the OIC, it is of utmost importance that civil society is granted space to participate in this human rights commission. Without the participation of civil society, the OIC will continue to push for legislation regarding defamation of Islam. Please read the press release provided at http://www.OIC-info.org for more information. We hope that you find this a worthy cause and join the efforts in creating awareness about the struggle to have human rights defenders partake in the OIC's Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission.

      Islam gives women almost no rights and treats them like fodder for the male species as so bluntly noted by Aya-an Hi-rsi Ali in her autobiography, In-fidel.

      "Thus begins the extraordinary story of a woman born into a family of desert nomads, circu-mcised as a child, educated by radical imams in Kenya and Saudi Arabia, taught to believe that if she uncovered her hair, terrible tragedies would ensue. It's a story that, with a few different twists, really could have led to a wretched life and a lonely death, as her grandmother warned. But instead, Hi-rsi Ali escaped – and transformed herself into an internationally renowned spokeswoman for the rights of Muslim women."

      ref: Washington Post book review.

      some excerpts:

      "Some of the Saudi women in our neighborhood were regularly be-aten by their husbands. You could hear them at night. Their scre-ams resounded across the courtyards. "No! Please! By Allah!"

      "The Pakistanis were Muslims but they too had cas-tes. The Untou-chable girls, both Indian and Pakistani were darker skin. The others would not play with them because they were unt-ouchable. We thought that was funny because of course they were tou-chable: we to-uched them see? but also hor-rifying to think of yourself as un-touchable, des-picable to the human race."

      "Between October 2004 and May 2005, eleven Muslim girls were ki-lled by their families in just two regions (there are 20 regions in Holland). After that, people stopped telling me I was exa-ggerating."

      "The kind on thinking I saw in Saudi Arabia and among the Brotherhood of Kenya and Som-alia, is incompatible with human rights and liberal values. It preserves the feu-dal mind-set based on tr-ibal concepts of honor and shame. It rests on self-deception, hypro-cricy, and double standards. It relies on the technologial advances of the West while pretending to ignore their origin in Western thinking. This mind-set makes the transition to modernity very painful for all who practice Islam".

      OK. So what are you or who are you to judge Islam ? What are your qualifications that enables you to judge Islam? Or what or who made you of any superiority to Islam? Who made of you God and made Muslims inferior as his servants..?
      Surely feel that you are not aware of the proper way of how to preform ablutions or keep your A$$ as clean...!?!
      So please speak of no superior or inferior we are all of Adam&Eve and are as equal only those who fear God most are more superior but as I see you are not God fearful since you look upon his creations and Worshipers as if inferior to you although they might be remembering,worshiping and praying to God more than you do...or will do in your life...

      Hi Muneef,

      do you actually know, what a strange religion you belong to?

      I am reading the Koran second time and wonder how president Obama can state, the Koran would be holy. I think, the Koran is unholy.

      Muhammad sees Jews and Christians as Moslems, having turned apostate. That is a death sentence for Jews and Christians. According to Muhammad, Jews and Christians have no more right to live. They are like garbage in Muhammad's eyes.

      It would be better, Mohammed had never been born into the world (sorry).

      Dear Muneef, leave Islam and join Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God.

    • Muneef

      @Rainer.

      You said you read the Quran...which language which sura which verse...? Have to learn Arabic to judge the Quran not by the translations that each makes a different narration to words...

      Our Prophet is a The Spiritual Brother of Jesus as a Prophet and Messenger of God...nor the Quran or the Prophet said any thing about Christian or Jews in general after all many lived in Mecca and Madina where he was living and in good understanding with them except for those tribes which aided the Pagan of Mecca against the Prophet of Islam to kill Islam upon birth and that was why they were mentioned in the Quran to fight the transgressors who were aiding pagans of Mecca agains Islam and Muslims...
      Finally am happy with Islam as my religion and Muhammed s.a.w as my light that has brought me the Quran from God...I do not complicate my self with many Hadiths other than the 40 ;
      http://www.40hadith.com/40hadith_en.htm

      Islam is the loveliest religion faith if you do not complicate your self with disputes between branches or endless Hadiths or fatawas by imams ignore all that behind your back and for God only no hate no fear he is your only protector you submit to him only not to Muhammed nor to Jesus but to God the creator of both and all the creations that we know or do not know of... Thanks

    ((He raised some of you above others in rank));

    6:165] He is the One who made you inheritors of the earth, and ((He raised some of you above others in rank)), in order to test you in accordance with what He has given you. Surely, your Lord is efficient in enforcing retribution, and He is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
    --

    From the Quranic verse above we understand that the People Although Equal in Rights but are still in Ranks as when it comes to knowledge,wealth and power... Same things apply to Countries although Equal in Rights but still in Ranks as when it comes to knowledge,wealth and power...!

    Now this Gaps between those Ranks have grown falling behind between Ranks that has caused all the financial crisis that the world has suffered of and caused what has become to be known as the "Spring of the Mideast" although each had their reasons for it in Ranks...!

    It was told that time would come as small signs of the promised date that the wealthier would compete with building fancy sky sc-ra-pers & l Buildings...all serving pleasures and entertainments of certain High Ranks...Such fancy projects has dried up cash flow from financial markets which priorities was to  help and encourage small business owners in the fields of services or as industrialists or agriculturalists from finding supportive finance to develop economy and reduce employment...

    Higher bids by brokers on loans and interests ( Us-u-r-y) has delusioned the greediness of the international financial in-st-it-u-tions in to getting heavily involved financially running after the gold shine that the oil countries.
     means that these financial fountain springs has no planed directions or control over them to serve towards the developments of the Ranks and reducing gap between them by investing in a total su-sta-in-able development of all those ranks as to morals,knowledge,skills and their personal business investments. By providing technical guidance and financial assistance towards generating and encouraging investment ventures between public and private sectors in some in-teg-ra-tion completeness...

    Finance been bl-ock-ed in sky sc-r-apers, fancy islands,entertainment com-pl-exes and so on...this drove to the rich to grow poor, the poor grow poorer, the hungry grow hungrier..

      Another Quranic verse says that In the heaven is our provision, and everything that is promised to us;

      [51:20] The earth is full of signs for those who are certain.
      [51:21] And within yourselves; can you see?
      [51:22] In the heaven is your provision, and everything that is promised to you.
      [51:23] By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is as true as the fact that you speak.

      Heavens promise us rain that brings satisfaction and prosperity to all of those who depend on it... Heavens or are as well in ranks as per Q/verse;

      [71:15] Do you not realize that GOD created seven universes (Heavens) in layers?

      Which only means that Ranks has to rain on to lower ranks for life flow to go as should in business between them and beside that....we have seen verses where it persists on people to be charitable by "Sadaqa" and "Zakath"....which are supposed to keep provision flowing from the top Rank to the lower to it and so on from one to the next...just like a fountain of water flowing from the top down layer by layer....

      Each a country has to have a fountain of water flowing as part of a group of fountains worldwide all together look as one Chris-mess Tree of layers of fountains running down and up again continuously with out interruptions otherwise the whole world will become falling backward in to a fountains of innocent Blood's,lives lost due the ignorance and the negligence of unlimited greeds....

      May God kill the tyrants by tyrants and save all the pure innocents in good peace

      What I don't get is, being critical of Zionistic policies, agenda or people is quickly labeled as "anti-semitic" and is even considered illegal in countries like Germany, yet a bigoted person like Geert Wilders (who has not once consulted any expect or scholar on Islam) can make a video which literally embodies everything that hate, racism, and ignorance is about, and yet get away with it where the court recognizes it as "denigrating" but not "illegal"!? What rubbish.

      " ...Geert Wilders (who has not once consulted any expect [sic] or scholar on Islam)"

      Not true. You might want to research Wilders a bit, including his preparation for this so called 'trial.' Proponents of Islam object (of course) and say that his 'experts, scholars and 'witnesses' are the 'wrong ones.'

    The real Islam:

    Mohammed was an illiterate, womanizing, lust and greed-driven, warmongering, hallucinating Arab, who also had embellishing/hallucinating/plagiarizing scribal biographers who not only added "angels" and flying chariots to the koran but also a militaristic agenda to support the plundering and looting of the lands of non-believers.

    This agenda continues as shown by the ma-ssacre in Mumbai, the as-sas-sinations of Bhutto and Theo Van Gogh, the conduct of the seven Muslim doctors in the UK, the 9/11 terrorists, the 24/7 Sunni suicide/roadside/market/mosque bombers, the 24/7 Shiite suicide/roadside/market/mosque bombers, the Islamic bombers of the trains in the UK and Spain, the Bali crazies, the Kenya crazies, the Pakistani “koranics”, the Palestine suicide bombers/rocketeers, the Lebanese nutcases, the Taliban nut jobs, the Ft. Hood follower of the koran, and the Filipino “koranics”.

    And who funds this muck and stench of terror? The warmongering, Islamic, Shiite terror and torture theocracy of Iran aka the Third Axis of Evil and also the Sunni "Wannabees" of Saudi Arabia.

    Current crises:

    The Sunni-Shiite global blood feud and the illiterate, warmongering, womanizing (11 wives), hallucinating founder.

But what you see is that all Islamic majority countries are ruled by secular regimes except for Two countries that are Ruled by Religious Regimes which are the Saudi Kingdom and the Iran Islamic Republic...and if those two stop their cold straggle that is getting all mixed up in their stubbornness and show respect to each other then only may the whole world have some peace and developments...

    Just was watching the intentional terrorist conference which is running live now on Aljazeera Live...I came upon the word of Mr.Ahmadi Mahmoud Nagad..whom I really respect his personality...
    It was fine hearing him complaining about the terrorist acts and how that they are financed and supported by Europeans and Americans.

    Next to him is the Afghani President Mr.H.Karazai who as well complained the West and their Private Companies Creating Terror,Wars and Distructions for personal gains..

    Now comes the President of Iraq who complains such Terrorists acts that is made to benefits those under the wings of the West..

    Better you catch up to watch same running now unless you are not allowed to ,to remain blind?

      It could be far from the subject but some how connected meaning that maybe it is about time that the West has religious rulers in order these Middle Eastern countries can have confidence and belief in the words of religious rulers since as it seems the secular regimes do not keep their words but rather politicians ruling by lies and false promises...! Besides by having religious rulers in the West will mean the possibility that those in the West and in the East reach some religious understanding bringing up respects to each others and peace...

      But as it seems that secular ones had allowed immigrations of multi cultures and religions or beliefs to weaken the Christian Religious ones for being dominant in the West which am sure that it became a minority now after the inward immigrations if compared to it's size before inward immigrations.... For that reason only we find now the ruling powers are in the hands of secular non religious ones... The conference above stated that the secular regimes in the West had used the indifference between religions,branches,doctrines by creating "Fitnah" said to be harder than killing...because you get all those with Fitnah to fight among them selves...beside establishing and supporting terrorist groups to get the area unstable far from investment and development environment that has caused the mass immigration of the capital heads,professions and skilled labour hands from their countries to the west and be treated as garbage at countries that they do not belong to whether as culture,race or religion....
      That's all and thanks for asking....bye and peace2all.

    Wilders should have tracked those people down and asked them directly why they had done violent things, unless they were dead, of course. Then he wouldn't have had to overlay likely verses from the Q'uran onto the pictures in the first place.
    But if the caption fits, then why does it fit?

      After all I believe that we should not insult or leaders after many years of service and development...Saleh has made many achievements for Yemen which should be taken into considerations before judging him...

    Am sure he would have not had half the courage to say any thing that is considered Anti-Semitic because the Jews would have aided the floor with his head and his broom like hair...he is just surfing the waves that are coming against Islam and Muslims...to appear courages like many who take advantage of such uprising situations...
