Israeli police brace for more protests over rabbi's arrestBy Mike Schwartz and Kevin Flower, CNN Jerusalem (CNN) - Police in Jerusalem braced Monday for more street protests by ultra-orthodox Jews and right-wing nationalists following the high profile detention Sunday of a well known rabbi for his alleged endorsement of a controversial religious text which justifies the killing of non-Jews. Rabbi Yaakov Yosef, the son of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef the spiritual leader of the Shas party and an important member of Israel's governing coalition, was questioned by investigators Sunday on suspicions of incitement to violence and racism according to Israeli police. Yosef's detention was the second high-profile move by police in just over a week in their investigation of public endorsements of a religious treatise called "The King's Torah" written by Yosef Elitzur and Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira, the head of a Jewish religious school in the extremist Israeli settlement of Yitzhar. @Muneef, Muslims cannot have decent democracy because democracy is possible only with religious freedom. Freedom of conscience – rights to choose belief – is the basis and foundation of democracy. Don't listen to secularists' garbage. If you don't provide religious freedom, it is a tyranny one way or another. Muneef, the Truth stands forever; don't force religion. Give people religious freedom.
We are secular system and surely that's why we are lost because many no longer fear God with their intentions and acts...life would be better if we had held our Heavenly Books.

All others fit in next few categories: Repeaters, some order restorers, mimickers and villains. Be proud to be Christian. The world was a darkness of fate and illiteracy without Christians. Andrew, humans are pure barbarians one way or another without having the Bible and Christianity. Israel was an exception for all time. Human dignity, freedom of conscience does not exist as a system outside of Christianity.

I wish CNN would be more explicit. Did Rabbi Yosef say it is permissible to kill any non-Jew for any reason? If not, what exactly did he say?

From the article, it sounds like the rabbi is saying that it is ok to kill non-Jews during times of war. I didn't notice anything in the article about non-war times.
But then again, I've only read the article, so the rabbi might actually say something different.
