Evangelist produces ‘Real Housewives of the Bible’ DVD

By Liane Membis, CNN

There’s a new set of housewives on the block.

These women aren’t whining about fashion faux pas and socialite misgivings. Their stories are cast somewhere between the books of Genesis and Revelation.

Ty Adams, a web-based evangelist and author, is producing “The Real Housewives of the Bible,” a two-part DVD series that tracks six women dealing with the ups and downs of marriage as they strive to be good wives.

Adams said that “outrageous reality shows” like Bravo’s “The Real Housewives” series and VH1’s “Basketball Wives” inspired her to create a more wholesome version of the franchise.

“I was frustrated with what I was seeing,” she said. “A lot of society is looking towards programming to educate them on relationships and these shows haven’t effectively done that.”

“They have ruined and tainted our ability to secure good relationships and to make women into good wives,” said Adams, who is based in Detroit.

Adams has provided Christian relationship advice for nearly ten years, since she founded a production company called Heaven Enterprises in 2002. She’s the author of Single, Saved and Having Sex, has produced religious DVDs and plays and offers sex and relationship advice through a web-based column called “Ask Ty.”

Adams says the goal of her “Real Housewives” DVD, due out later this month, is helping women juxtapose real-life issues with Christian teaching. She says that teaching includes women’s obligation to attempt to sustain relationships that have endured extra-marital affairs and other hardships.

“Because we live in a media-driven society, telling these age-old stories of adultery, loneliness and longing through entertainment helps women relate,” Adams said.

Each character on the show represents a different woman from the Bible. A character based on the biblical Sarah struggles with infertility. (The biblical Sarah was barren until she reached old age).

Gold-digging women are likened to Delilah from the Book of Judges, who seduced and deceived Samson - who'd fallen in love with her - through repetitious requests.

And the show features plenty of Jezebels.

“Many single women can get a man but they can’t keep a man,” Adams said. “So many singles have been in girlfriend status for so long that they only understand that mentality. They don’t know what it takes to be a good wife in order to sustain a relationship and some parts of society promotes that.”

  2. Why?

I am very excited about Miss Adam's new DVD, it will help and change many lives for the better. This isn't just a money making scam, she is using her God given gift to reach out and help women who need/want it but don't know where to turn. Christians are still human and yes we still sin, and yes there will always be hypocritical people but not everyone is like that. It breaks my heart that this country is so broken, I am 16 years old and dread the day I have to leave home because I will have to live with this hatred and judgement. If I had my way, Jesus would come back today but I know this won't happen because there is so much work to be done. I pray that every single one of you comes to know the Lord, He is Just and Loving, He already loves you no matter who you are or what you have done, He is ever patient and blesses those who follow His word. Haven't you ever wondered why so many Christians are "wealthy"? It's not because of scams it's because they are sold out for Jesus and God is using them to reach the lost and the weary. Frankly, many of us are lost and don't know it, but if you seek Him I guarantee that you will find Him.

A Christian show portrayed by Jews in a time Islam is reaches threw the the pews.
If u look at world religious history you will find the Jews
were first to be warned of God Judaism. (How much did they listen). Along came Christianity now Jesus Christ is god! (How vain can a people get). Now Islam, the last way of warning. In each of these great warnings from above talks the same people. Why aren't we listening?

Awesome Ms Adams! I think the world NEEDS more Biblically based shows to watch. You have a fantastic idea with this and I think (I firmly believe, actually) you can go further and use the Media to get God's way into more and more people. Especially the US NEEDS to turn to God. I will pray for you and your idea.

If you want to read about a real housewife, open the book of Proverbs in the old testament and start reading. Those were real housewives.

I think this is a very GREAT IDEA coming from a christian prospective instead of satan trying to destroy marriages and our women.

Some people have very cynical views about this show, but thats exactly what Christians are supposed to do, infaltrate the secular world and bring the Truth to what is wrong, by using God's word. People forget that we're children of a King, therefore we are not supposed to be broke people, God has given all gifts and talents without repentance, and how we use them as long as we bringing glory to God, is up to the Call of God on one's life. Besides, 3John tells us that we will prosper and be in good health, even as our soul prospers. That means financially too, along with the many other scriptures that talk about Kingdom wealth and true prosperity, which is more than just $. If you disagree, don't watch it!!!!! God's will is still going to be accomplished. Peace and Blessings:)

Hypocrisy is a key element of religion's business model. Their self-righteousness is simply very cleverly marketed.

I am not a religious person at all, but I have to say that since her intentions are genuinely good I wish her good luck in her DVD project. I am opposed to the brainwash religious organizations impossed in our kids from an early stage in their lives. Althought I know not all christians are bad people, people at the top of these organizations have lost contact with reality, and therefore their so called good faith.

I believe that people have a lot of misconceptions of acahristian beliefs. Christian beliefs are based on what CHRIST taught, not on what a denomination teaches. There has been way to much done in the name of Christianity that is not Christian. There is no hipocricy in true Christianity, only in false christianity. If this lady is telling women to be the kind of wives that the Bible teaches, then she is doing the right thing! And, as to the Jewish thing mentioned in an earlier post, GOD'S rules haven't changed, the TRUE Church is to take the whole word of GOD, not just the New Testament.

Why is she capitalizing off of the name of Real Housewives if she thinks that the show are detrimental? It seems as though she is being an opportunist while condemning at the same time. Isn't that hypocrisy/ Why is she attempting to integrate secular programming formats into religion? I still say that most of these people know deep within that they do not believe and do not follow the tenets that they claim to follow. It is a money making scam.

2things u don't talk about or discus politics and religion in life cuz everyone's opinion is different., but why bash a new reality show, the society already have accepted all other type of shows. I believe there is Great role model women out there, that learn from there mistakes everyday to make and teach new generation that life is not easy. I hope it touches and changes some women that are going tru different stages in life (no matter what religion) at the end there is only one person that we all pray and answer (no matter what religion)..
