Evangelist produces ‘Real Housewives of the Bible’ DVD

By Liane Membis, CNN

There’s a new set of housewives on the block.

These women aren’t whining about fashion faux pas and socialite misgivings. Their stories are cast somewhere between the books of Genesis and Revelation.

Ty Adams, a web-based evangelist and author, is producing “The Real Housewives of the Bible,” a two-part DVD series that tracks six women dealing with the ups and downs of marriage as they strive to be good wives.

Adams said that “outrageous reality shows” like Bravo’s “The Real Housewives” series and VH1’s “Basketball Wives” inspired her to create a more wholesome version of the franchise.

“I was frustrated with what I was seeing,” she said. “A lot of society is looking towards programming to educate them on relationships and these shows haven’t effectively done that.”

“They have ruined and tainted our ability to secure good relationships and to make women into good wives,” said Adams, who is based in Detroit.

Adams has provided Christian relationship advice for nearly ten years, since she founded a production company called Heaven Enterprises in 2002. She’s the author of Single, Saved and Having Sex, has produced religious DVDs and plays and offers sex and relationship advice through a web-based column called “Ask Ty.”

Adams says the goal of her “Real Housewives” DVD, due out later this month, is helping women juxtapose real-life issues with Christian teaching. She says that teaching includes women’s obligation to attempt to sustain relationships that have endured extra-marital affairs and other hardships.

“Because we live in a media-driven society, telling these age-old stories of adultery, loneliness and longing through entertainment helps women relate,” Adams said.

Each character on the show represents a different woman from the Bible. A character based on the biblical Sarah struggles with infertility. (The biblical Sarah was barren until she reached old age).

Gold-digging women are likened to Delilah from the Book of Judges, who seduced and deceived Samson - who'd fallen in love with her - through repetitious requests.

And the show features plenty of Jezebels.

“Many single women can get a man but they can’t keep a man,” Adams said. “So many singles have been in girlfriend status for so long that they only understand that mentality. They don’t know what it takes to be a good wife in order to sustain a relationship and some parts of society promotes that.”

Man would never sacrifice his life for an idiotic cheating cheap girl who did not keep purity before marriage. Why is this simple logic not understood by the air-head American women? And if any man sacrifices himself or his lifetime for a non-virgin girl, he is a fool. Some exceptions apply.

Because it isn't logic at all?

Christian women in America, the only way for you to become Biblical is to keep purity before marriage, unless you are a victim of a crime. If you dressed wrongly or hunged around in wrong places and got attacked, don't blame anyone but your stupid self.

Most housewives in the Bible were virgins before marriage. Something unthinkable to modern American mind.

That's why you discard women like cars.

Women, if you didn't keep virginity before marriage, forget about true love or lasting happy marriage. You are worth for neither. Some exceptions apply.

Drop in a penny for each of her names and she'll be rich by morning. Drop in a penney for every nutty comment, and she will be richer that Bill Gates.

False Frederica, all you can do is stealing, but I have tons of beautiful names and phases. Read the Bible and get some real education, you fake. Money is a woeful dung if you don't honor God or rescue the starving with it.

A woman is worth neither, eh Odessa? That's a pretty sweeping and intolerant generalization. But what else do we expect from the close-minded and intellectually challenged. By the way, did you get permission from a male relative (husband, father) before you came online and started posting, like a good, obedient Christian would (in your mind at least.)

Crispin, no, he doesn't know. We use different languages. But both of them would agree with me.

Crispin, you must be another uneducated Canadian who doesn't know the nation was created to spread Christianity.

    Attention ! Attention please !
We have tallied up the retribution payments for today, and the results are in, for each of you.
98.765217562431 % of your sins are paid for, and the remaining % will be applied to your outstanding balance.
Your Heavenly Father will not let you in until you have met the entire balance. So please see to it the remaining
bill is PAID IN FULL, or there will be hell to pay, if you know what I mean.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
    As you were.
BTW, there will be Mass again in the morning to redo the payment attempt, so you can see if if works this time. There are no guarantees, as it hasn't worked so far, but we will try to keep doing it over again until we get it right. ya never know.

Housewives should concentrate on living for God, serving husbands and raising and educating children. Nothing else. And decent dressing, please, whether fat or fit.

What a freaking joke. No one, be they male or female, has an obligation to stay with a spouse who cheats or behaves badly. I've known too many women in my mother's generation who were trapped in loveless marriages to horrible men because of religion. I've known too many children abused by fathers because the mother was a "good christian" and wouldn't leave the husband to protect the child. And I know men who won't leave women who use them, because their religion dictates that they must stay married.

Marriage in this country would be better served if people learned to treat each other with respect instead of making one gender martyr themselves for the other.

Christians, especially women, dress modestly when you talk with Muslims. We'll look as just another playboy or pro-sti-tute to them if we don't. Dress modestly for the sake of the Truth.

    July 5, 2011 at 11:19 pm |
    • Jennifer

Don't you dare tell others how to dress, because of your believes in "magic man in the sky"... Your liable to get shot for that in some states... You probably can not fathom how offensive that is!

Not to worry Freddy dear. You won't be mistaken for a playboy.

Jennifer, get more offended. You deserve it. Christians are in dangers everywhere anyway. We are not afraid to speak the truth to perverts.

They should dress more modestly. Study shows that more skin revealers have more number of partners and thus a lot of promiscuity. Non-virgin women should not even dream about having a faithful man for life. Life is fair.

Will this show include any women from the New Testament? If this producer is promoting "Christian" themes, why would she choose "housewives" (and the travails they endured) from the Old Testament? Like the woman at the well - what did Jesus write in the sand?

Women's obligation? What kind of a God obliges women to sacrifice their lives and love for men that aren't monogamous?

My first thought was "good for her". Then I got to the part where she believes a large number of people actually try to mimic these people as opposed to simply laughing at them and ridiculing them for their failures. Most of the people I know who watch these shows do so out of sadism, not admiration.

Why does CNN regularly pimp some Christian's lame scammy product, like this or the Jesus Diet or the Godapalooza concert? You never see them give free advertising to atheists or Muslims or Wiccans selling some rip-off exploition of their own identity group.

You people who complain about CNN wasting time covering faith stories sure do spend a lot of effort posting on this blog. If you do't' want to read it ' just say no'.

Because it just shows the fact that there is an agenda to paint Christians as stupid and ridiculous which some are unfortunately, but who isn't. Its not fair to paint us as the terrible and the stupid when its others that are worse and its a minority in the church.
