New reality series tracks lives of American Muslims

By Dan Gilgoff, CNN.com Religion Editor

(CNN) - TLC is premiering a reality series about the lives of American Muslims this fall,  "All American Muslim," the cable TV network announced this week.

The series tracks five Muslim families living around Dearborn, Michigan, home to one of the nation's largest Muslim enclaves.

The series is about “inviting viewers into a world they might not otherwise experience,” said TLC's general manager Amy Winter in a press release.

"Through these families and their diverse experiences, we will explore how they blend their values and traditions with everyday life in America," Winter said in the Thursday release, "providing insight into their culture with care and compassion.”

The series, which premieres in November, tracks "very distinct lives that often times challenge the Muslim stereotype," according to the release.

Characters include a pair of tight-knit sisters, one of whom wears a traditional Islamic headscarf and one who sports piercings and tattoos and has recently married an Irish Catholic man who is converting to Islam.

Another character is a consultant to big auto manufacturer and struggles to strike a balance between work and raising a modern Muslim family, according to the TLC release.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released earlier this year found that 46% of all Americans have a favorable view of American Muslims, while 26% have an unfavorable view.

"Overall, positive views of American Muslims have risen since 2002, when memories of 9/11 were still fresh in most Americans' minds," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland in March, when the poll was released.

In 2002, only 39% of all Americans said they had a favorable view of Muslims.

    How Are You All Doing ? Hellenism Started In Greece,And Islam Generated From Islam Because Islam Was An Extention Of Christianity Because They Both Ruled With The Sword To Divide,And Conquer The People.Christianity Does Not Have Anything To Do With Jesus The Christ At All Because God Ordained His Great,And Wonderful Salvation In The Name,And Blood Of His Son Jesus!!!!!!! The Holy Bible In The Book Of The Acts Of The Apostles ChapterTwo Verses Thirty Eight,And Thirty Nine. First It Talks About The Salvation Of The Lord God Jesus The Christ Being Given To The Jews First,And Afterwards To All Of Us To Who Are Not Born In The Nation Of Israel !!!!!!! But Also The Qu'ran Came From Greece,And Is An Extention Of Hellenism Itself,And It Was Established In Six Forty Four A.D. The Historians Have Written That Muhammad Was Born In Five Seventy A.D.,And That He Died In Six Thirty Two A.D.:So The Question Is Why Did The Qu'ran End Up Existing Six Hundred Seventeen Years Later From The The Time That Jesus Started His Ministry Because It Started In Twenty Seven A.D. ,And Also Prior Before The Qu'ran Was Written The Books Of The Old testament Of The Holy Bible Were Already Written !!!!!!! The Qu'ran Says That Jesus Is The Holy Spirit,And By The Fact That Is Says That It In Fact Is Saying That Jesus Is God,And He Is. Allah Stands For Arm,Leg,Leg,Arm,Head Thus Saying That We Are Are Gods.

    Islam or Christianity by Birth are Not Religions but rather a political Nationality & National Ident-i-ty !!

    Religion is not by Birth, Religion it is by Faith,therefore they are not as Equal or Alike.
     Kindly refer to following Quran verses ;

    "The blind and the seeing are not alike; (19) Nor are the depths of Darkness and the Light; (20) Nor are the (chilly) shade and the (genial) heat of the sun: (21) Nor are alike those that are living and those that are dead. Allah can make any that He wills to hear; but thou canst not make those to hear who are (buried) in graves. (22)".
    "These two kinds (of men) may be compared to the blind and deaf, and those who can see and hear well. Are they equal when compared? Will ye not then take heed? (24)".
    "Say: "Are the blind equal with those who see? Or the depths of darkness equal with Light?" (16)".
    "Is one who worships devoutly during the hours of the night prostrating himself or standing (in adoration), who takes heed of the Hereafter, and who places his hope in the Mercy of his Lord― (like one who does not)? Say: "Are those equal, those who know and those who do not know? It is those who are endued with understanding that receive admonition." (9)".
    "Not equal are the blind and those who (clearly) see: nor are (equal) those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and those who do evil. Little do ye learn by admonition! (58)".

    Example; Late Amy Winhouse was Nationally known to be of family of Jew but she personally was not a Religious Practising Jew....
    Have came across termbe been used here to refer to people such as ;
    – He was A Christian Atheist....or was A Jew Atheist...
    Or other way of identifying some one they say;
    – He was American White Christian Atheist.
    – He was American White Christian Muslim.

    Notice the use of nationalities given here;
    – The Country's Nationality.
    – The Race Color Nationality.
    – The by birth Community Religion Nationality..
    – The Actual or Converted to belief Nationality.

    There are other Nationality terms such as the Religious Sectarians and the Regional family  Area.

    From every Religion you will find those who are committed (A) and those who are counted on the Religion but are not religious nor they believe (B);
    Now we ought to find out who is generating the trouble ? Are they Group (A)or (B) from each By Birth Religion...!?

    Peace and Ramadan Kareem to all Muslim Brothers and Sisters...Inshallah fasting from Monday Dawn to SunSet...
    Just wonder in Christians or non Religious have tried fasting as Muslims do...am sure with time they will adopt it as a system for the health benefits it holds health and body...it is told it helps the body to discharge and burn out the poisonous chemicals from our bodies other than controlling weights... Some say they can not because of smoking other for water or food...but other than that is controlling anger or bad mood of the empty stomach, controlling one's tongue from hurting any one,to control eyes from staring at desire... Above all those to a Muslim he is to Maintain Prayers and Quran Reciting which of course beside it being a spiritual matter it is meant the body exercise by the up's and down's of prayers....as well as training of tongue & lungs by the Quran Recitation...these beside Tasbih "Praise of Glorify" helps to control one's breathing..

    So you see it is all good and challenging since only by those means can you gain control your desires...

    Control of Desire Quran verses same Verse in Arabic but in English check translation and God knows how many are other more...such as these things case confusion among non Arab Muslims and non Muslims..although all end to mean same thing but in different ways that caused it be misunderstood...then the fact of being translated in many languages in the same way...! This was just a standing example of the Quran although still alive existing and in one copy !?
    Then imagine what could have had happened to the Torah and or Gospel having passed through three dead languages,one after the other then from a classic language into modern language, in many different copies then into many languages.

    Read and Judge;
    [79:40] As for the one who reverenced the majesty of his Lord, and enjoined the self from sinful lusts.
    [79:41] Paradise will be the abode.
    But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his soul from lust, (40) Lo! the Garden will be his home. (41)
    And as for him who dreaded standing before his Lord, and restrained his soul from lust, (40) Verily the Garden! -that shall be his resort. (41)
    And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower Desires, (40) Their Abode will be the Garden. (41).
    But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts. (40) Verily, Paradise will be his abode. (41).
    Whereas for the one who feared to stand before his Lord, and restrained his self from the (evil) desire, (40) The Paradise will be the abode. (41).

    Anders Behring Breivik,Norway,Oslo 95 innocent life wasted on a "One Man Show" ....
    This example is the example of Western and Muslim Tentions that mark a start of violence against the Westren Systems,against Muslims and colored communities or individuals....
    Muslims are unwanted in the west...they are being pushed out until now only by the mention of words,by the imposing of laws that dismay the Muslims such as to the shape of Mosques in Switzland,The Niqab&Borqo in France, The Islamic Slaughter Rituals in Holland....
    Really just do not understand if you did not need all those Muslims or non Muslims immigrants into your countries from the first place....!!! What has changed that now ?
    If you do not want other nations out number you in your land,it is either you should not allow immigration or make new laws as to Divorce and Marriages beside taking into consideration allowing polygamy if permited by the first female partner whether she is well giving birth or sick unable to give birth... You cannot go on wiping reducing nations every time they exceed your populations ??!

      Muslims is a General word that includes every Muslim from every continent on the Globe?? That is way you should take Muslims bases their race origin and not by the bases of their Religious beliefs, what ever their acts were criminal or religious extremes...but it is not fair to generalize since may there be Muslims from your own skins or race origins....

    A number of people that have written to respond to this article have spoken of the interpretation of the Bible, which is the number one problem in this present world as the Bible itself teaches us that no prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20). Only few people (Matthew 7:14) are able to understand the Bible and as long as mankind remains separated from God, the Word of God will remain a mystery.

    Mankind in his natural state is unable to understand the Bible and unable to receive the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1 Cor. 2:14).

    There is a natural body and a spiritual body (1 Cor. 15:44). The only thing that separates the Natural body from the Spiritual body is the Baptism of Repentance (Mark 1:4). To repent means: to change spirits and to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan, whose spirit mankind is of (Luke 9:55), unto God (Acts 26:18). This is not an interpretation. Many people search the Bible for in them they think they have eternal life, but when we bring them the Scriptures they don’t believe us (John 5:38,39). Confused? There is no need to be confused any longer. For a better understanding of the mystery of God we invite you to read all the pages and articles of our website http://www.aworlddeceived.ca

    So, before mankind will be able to understand the Word of God, mankind requires to be converted and transformed by God (not by any religion) and only then mankind is able to understand the Bible, as it is God (John 1:1).

    All of the other pages and articles listed on our website explain how this whole world has been deceived as confirmed by the Word of God in Revelation 12:9. The Bible is true in all things and is the discerner of every thought and the intent of the heart (Hebrews 5:12).

    Life of infidels, apostates and average women in the Muslim-majority land should be more exposed, although secular Westerners would think of it only amusing. The world needs liberation by Christians and by the Biblical education.

      So Beatrice, does Bangladesh not count for anything? (Bangladesh has a higher muslim population than any two middle eastern countries put together, has a secular government and observes official holidays on muslim and hindu holy days, not to mention has had 2 different women as democratically elected prime ministers).

      Regardless, what happens in other nations is irrelevant. Why do people immigrate/emigrate? Also why is it that nations like Kuwait, Jordan and Brunei not considered? It's as if you want to take media examples (this alone is worth mocking as the media would convince you that all blacks are welfare addicted, slum dwelling criminals) and use them over and over. If it was simply a 'muslim' thing, why are there so many different countries? Why are they not all one 'muslim' nation called Boogiemanland? Beatrice, if you are American, show enough pride in being American to process complex thoughts further. Do you love America? If so, look deeper and find out what's really going on. If not, keep working on your potato powered flashlight.

    "I warn everyone... If anyone adds anything to them(God's Word), God will add to him the plagues described in this book." ( the final chapter of Revelation, the final Book in the New Testament Bible, written before AD100.) The Canon has been closed since then.

The imam from the local mosque ordered the fatwa, or religious ruling, and the punishment: 101 lashes delivered swiftly, deliberately in public. Hena dropped after 70 and died a week later.

    @ Technically Right – Yes, I wrote the wrong number – 300+million. If we had arabs occupying our country with guns and bombs, you would probably feel the same as those people. Just like many people here assume all Muslims support terrorist acts and jihad, In the arab countries they think all US Citizens support the wars and killing of innocents. And while the may live in lower standards of living than most places in the US, if they have a little extra food on the table after dinner, they will walk around to see if any of their neighbors are hungry. How many times have you heard about that in the US? Furthermore, if my husband ever even thought to raise a hand at me, he wouldn't live long enough to regret it.

    @leveltheplayingfield – my husband was a US citizen years before we met. He also works harder than any person I have ever met. He worked 7 days a week for 13 years, only stopping when he was hospitalized for exhaustion. Now he works 5 days a week. I refused to marry him, unless he had more time to spend with me.
