Glenn Beck hosts pro-Israel rally in Jerusalem

American conservative star Glenn Beck hosted a pro-Israel rally with overt Christian overtones in Jerusalem on Wednesday, calling on people around the world to stand with the Jewish state at time when it is facing mounting criticism.

"In Israel, there is more courage in one small square mile than in whole of Europe," Beck said in a politically charged speech at the event. "In Israel, there is more courage in one soldier than in the cold heart of every bureaucrat at the U.N."

At a rally that drew heavily on support from Christian Zionists, Beck's speech was laced with biblical references and apocalyptic phrasing.

"The threats are mounting, and evil is growing; darkness is falling," he said. "Far too many politicians are just too willing to look away. They have turned day into night, good into evil; they have changed the very meaning of our words."

The rally was applauded by some conservative Israelis but was received with mixed emotions in much of the Jewish community.

Glenn accomplished what our GUTLESS President could never do and that is to stand with our true allies in Israel. Our "politicker/joker in Chief" appears to only back muslims, illegal aliens and stupid leftist agenda's. However, it is amazing how many American jews still support the DNC and bo.

Speaking of GUTLESS, it was Obama who got bin Laden and Bush who said he wasn't concerned about the guy who caused 9/11. Of course, Bush was reading "The Pet Goat" while our nation was attacked.

Our President doesn't support Israel? Tell that to the millions we send to Israel in order prop up their economy.

Glenn Beck is all about "Look at me, I'm relevant". Pay me money!

In another era, Beck would have been employed by the circus or out in front of a strip club.

You know what Hitler and Beck have in common? they are both fanatics!

for the record: nothing against Israel, I have met a lot of bright Jewish and Muslim people.

Epic fail on your level of common sense! you should live under the rock if you deny his fanatic views... he is no different from the hardliners in Iran, Syria, Palestine, and ... other than wearing the Christian clothes.

So many are preaching words of hate and bashing a man who has the guts to gather people to stand in support of Israel.. our only TRUE ally in the Middle East. It disgusts me how childish everyone sounds. Is it really that difficult to be more objective and impartial?

In my opinion he is a true patriot, siding with those who support true American values, NEVER forgetting where we can from.

If you don't agree with Glenn, some need to quit their obnoxious whining. Any politics aside, it takes a strong heart and tremendous sacrifice to put together events like this for a cause you believe in.

Why don't the Jews just annex all of the west bank? Because if they let the Palestinians vote in their sham democracy the Jews would be thrown out of the government.

    August 24, 2011 at 11:28 pm |
    • Colin

Possibly true, but would it be a good thing? I'm not sure that a demographically representative Israeli government that includes W-Bank and Gaza would be better than what they have. The real solution is to throw out the right-wing religious nut parties and let Labour-left,central Likud get the peace deal done.

Glenn is extremely well informed and level-headed. I cannot believe the rest of the media cannot connect the dots.. its EXTREMELY obvious most of the time what is going on in the world. RESEARCH! ITS OUT THERE REGARDLESS OF GLENN.
I suspect you might as well crap your pants and start Lomotil therapy when Obama gets kicked out by the American people based on his rhetoric which in comparison, cannot be backed up. So many promises broken already, its sad. Really.

Why doesnt the Pope visit to Madrid's World Youth Day not get this coverage? More than 1 million Catholic youth converge and I found it hard to find reports.

The actual reports are that one million Catholic priests converged on youths in Madrid, and the Church is busy getting rid of the evidence and hiding the story.

The hatred for Beck is palpable, but rarely is there anyone who takes him on based on the merits of an issue. The name calling "morons, retarded" etc is predictable. When one has nothing to say call names and attack the messenger. This is the last refuge of idiots. The Jews who condemn Beck are the same ones who will lead them back to the ovens. These are the jews who are borderline retarded and many of the rest of you are pathetic anti-Semitic leftist slime. CNN's so called rules for the blogs are totally ignored especially if the attack is on a conservative.. Reporting abuse is would be an exercise in futility as most of these posts are abusive. So you can all congratulate yourselves on your Neanderthal character and intelligence.

One of the reasons I hate Glenn Beck is that he despises "socialism" yet admits to "learning everything he knows" at a "library, where books are free" (Glenn could only muster a high school education)

      August 24, 2011 at 11:10 pm |
    • The merits of Glenn Beck's issues

"I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. ... No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out."

"When I see a 9/11 victim family on television, or whatever, I'm just like, 'Oh shut up' I'm so sick of them because they're always complaining."

"You know, we all have our inner demons. I, for one – I can't speak for you, but I'm on the verge of moral collapse at any time. It can happen by the end of the show."

      August 24, 2011 at 11:14 pm |

yes, the library is "socialist", as are parks, highways, medicare and on and on. The far right is simply afraid of the word.

Did you just insult people who call Glenn Beck retarded, then use "retarded" as an insult? Hypocrisy from a Beck supporter, I'm so shocked... (that was a statement of irony, since that concept probably escapes you as well).

You use God when it is talking about Glenn Beck only to deny the same GOD when you talk of the ameture that GOD put in office. One must spend much more time in the word if he wishes to use the GOD card. Glenn is doing Glenns work. He wouldn't be there if he had a day job. It is just publicity to rally the simple minded. YHWH knows our every motive.
