A movement to paint Obama as the Antichrist?By Dan Gilgoff and Eric Marrapodi, CNN Belief Blog Co-Editors (CNN) - On our sister blog The 1600 Report, CNN's Alex Mooney notes a discrepancy in the official White House transcript of a California fundraiser Monday night, during which a person who heckled President Barack Obama was escorted out by security. Here's the White House transcript's account of the heckler:
But Mooney observes that the White House pool report records the heckler as being much more blunt, yelling "'Barack Obama is the Antichrist!" The president interrupted his remarks at the fundraiser, held at Los Angeles' House of Blues, to respond to the heckler. "First of all, I agree Jesus Christ is the Lord," Obama said. "I believe in that. I do have a question, though. I think the young man may have left his jacket... " Ironically, the remark about Obama as the Antichrist came the same day that The New York Times ran an op-ed arguing that the Antichrist is assuming a bigger place in the public discourse, as evangelical Christian ideas about the end times gain traction. In a piece titled "Why the Antichrist Matters in Politics," Washington State University history professor Matthew Avery Sutton argues that, for some Christians, Obama fits into ideas about the Antichrist, whose arrival is believed to be a portent of the end times and Jesus' second coming:
The op-ed was the most e-mailed piece on nytimes.com for much of Tuesday. In the 2008 campaign, Republican presidential nominee John McCain released an anti-Obama ad called "The One" that ridiculed Obama for what it said was his messiah complex. Some critics claimed the spot was a veiled attempt to paint Obama as the Antichrist, though the McCain camp denied it. What do you think? Nice! Well if the tea baggers call President Obama the antiChrist, then I guess I'm voting for the antiChrist in the next election! These moe rons wouldn't kow the antiChrist if it bopped them on the head! All these supposedly "christian" people are like a bunch of scared, lost sheep, all huddled and cowering in a corner. It's too painful for them to think for themselves, so they believe what other "christians" tell them, even if it's obviously wrong.
What if he was teh antichrist. Just saying.. What if.. Would the Obama worshipers still worship him or would they not.. Just saying.

The religious debate about who is the antichrist requires far deeper study on the spiritual conflicts in the world. The two argest religiuns in the world are Christianity and Islam. Besides this factor are all the other religious movements. President Obama has not got the time-line to carry out the plan suggested in the Bible. Is he the expected Mardi of Islam who will take over the political domination 0f the world? Jesus is also expected to come at the same time as the Mardi and kill 70% of the unbeleiving world and then be under the authority of Muhammad. Is Obama the hidden Mardi-in-waiting to change the history of the world so that it will be completely Islamic. Our main problem in the west is that even among many church leaders and pastors they have a profound ignorance of the differences between Christianity and Islam; the New Testament and the Ko'ran. The church needs to undertake a serious study of the two positions. Both in substance and in morality they are poles apart. The idea that Islam and Christianity can become "Chrislam" is ludicrous. Oil and water cannot mix and neither can Christianity and Isalm. The antichrist personification is Ben Laden, but any chance that he is the Mardi of Isam has been blown apart un less soem are expecting that he will rise from the dead. So far only the Lord Jesus rose from the dead and he will come as the one who eill completely defeat the antichrist.
Are you sure? Try looking in the mirror and talking more of the "antichrist" stuff. See? Do you feel really stupid? If not, give it a few years and try again.

Thanks for that. For a moment I thought all the antichrist stuff was silly. Incidentally, I know who the antichrist REALLY is. It's a guy named Burt Hanson and he lives in a suburb of Kansas City.

Romney's and Perry's professed strong religious beliefs (of which is their rights) will likely linked them to this group but intelligent americans should realize that this should not be.

Well said! What people tend to miss is that, President was fine before he becamse President. He will fine in 1216. He was already financially secure and educated. He has a willingness and a sense of obligation to turn the country around and try to makae America what it was.

Well I love our President AntiChrist if those Christians in the GOP would let him do his work maybee he could save us from the hole that the Christian Bush left us in.
How sad. While certain people in our country worry about myths about invisible Gods and Devils, our countries real problems go unsolved.
