A movement to paint Obama as the Antichrist?

By Dan Gilgoff and Eric Marrapodi, CNN Belief Blog Co-Editors

(CNN) - On our sister blog The 1600 Report, CNN's Alex Mooney notes a discrepancy in the official White House transcript of a California fundraiser Monday night, during which a person who heckled President Barack Obama was escorted out by security.

Here's the White House transcript's account of the heckler:

AUDIENCE MEMBER: The Christian God is the only true living God, the Creator of the heavens and the universe.

But Mooney observes that the White House pool report records the heckler as being much more blunt, yelling "'Barack Obama is the Antichrist!"

The president interrupted his remarks at the fundraiser, held at Los Angeles' House of Blues, to respond to the heckler.

"First of all, I agree Jesus Christ is the Lord," Obama said. "I believe in that. I do have a question, though. I think the young man may have left his jacket... "

Ironically, the remark about Obama as the Antichrist came the same day that The New York Times ran an op-ed arguing that the Antichrist is assuming a bigger place in the public discourse, as evangelical Christian ideas about the end times gain traction.

In a piece titled "Why the Antichrist Matters in Politics," Washington State University history professor Matthew Avery Sutton argues that, for some Christians, Obama fits into ideas about the Antichrist, whose arrival is believed to be a portent of the end times and Jesus' second coming:

For some evangelicals, President Obama is troubling. The specious theories about his place of birth, his internationalist tendencies, his measured support for Israel and his Nobel Peace Prize fit their long-held expectations about the Antichrist. So does his commitment to expanding the reach of government in areas like health care.

The op-ed was the most e-mailed piece on nytimes.com for much of Tuesday.

In the 2008 campaign, Republican presidential nominee John McCain released an anti-Obama ad called "The One" that ridiculed Obama for what it said was his messiah complex. Some critics claimed the spot was a veiled attempt to paint Obama as the Antichrist, though the McCain camp denied it.

What do you think? Is there a gathering movement to paint the president as the Antichrist? Are such charges overblown attempt to discredit Obama's critics?

Sorry I'm late. Yup, definitely trolling going on here.
The comment box was to discuss the article's subject "A movement to paint Obama as the Antichrist?" Glad to see people keeping up a "lively and courteous" discussion. Yawn....why is this "news" again?

Why do the very smallest of objects such as atomic portioned nodulations cling ever so smartly together to form a living being such as a person? What is this "force" keeping one's body being made of atoms, tightly woven together? Why should any body made of atomic nodules coalesce and be held together? Surely, an atomically made body that coalesces must have some sort of fundamental reasoning for being bound up together,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

quatum physics.. its basically nothing really more then a magnetic field... every atom has a magnetic field... oh and i'm sure i spelt quatum physics wrong, no worries.. the purpose of words are to convey messages, and i think you can miss a letter here or there and still get the message across.

hippy, my spelling-impeded friend, you are close to being correct. Quantum physics does explain it, but you missed the electrical half of the electro-magnetic field.

    This is bigotry.

    Christian racisim.

If I were of African American descent, I would feel obligates to whoop the daylights out of anyone who espoused it.

You see the term "Antichrist" is just red neck for n*gger.

The Antichrist or Mahadi as he is called in the Koran is a leader that will come to power in the near future. GOD is allowing the entire Arab world to be set as a stage for this man to be revealed. GOD is allowing turmoil in all Arab countries. Notice how GOD is divinely protecting Israel even though they are surrounded by their enemies. The Antichrist is alive today and he is an Islamic man. He has to be Arab because the Koran predicts his coming. Trust me he is not white, black, chinese or any other race. Muslims will only follow a Muslim leader. He will unite the Arab world and make a peace treaty with Israel that he breaks after 3 1/2 years. When he is revealed this is the start of the tribulation once he breaks the peace treaty the Great Tribulation starts.

I personally believe is that believers in Jesus will be raptured and then the AntiChrist will come onto the scene. GOD has demonstrated this power of removing those who love HIM from trouble in the past and he will do it again.

Jesus I love you and I know you love me! Amen!

You're totally right on, I remember the verses from Revelations. And lo, the 2012 elections shall come to pass, and likened unto that crazy Mayan prophecy movie, great disasters shall riseth upeth from the deepeth. All that is right in the world shall fall to the Antichrist. Ye shall knoweth the devil spawn, as they shall claim to be a great Christian leader from a political party of morals, though they obviously do not practiceth what they preachety.

Correct me if I'm wrong: No one seems to be able to lift us off this planet, to a Perfect Paradise? We did, inhabit the earth and we did subdue it! Now what? If we were beamed up to a Perfect Paradise we'd probably end up killing each other with OUR opinions of HOW TO RULE THE WORLD???? The joke is on us....Even Pharoah could not revive his son? What are we missing here? Common sense can't figure out where this problem started? hummmm It ends in Life or Death? Who Cares? Does someone care? REALLY?....:) My bet, is ........

"First of all, I agree Jesus Christ is the Lord," Obama said
    And that's your president?
No wonder he stopped astronauts going to space, since he must think that's a waste of time.
Sorry Obama, heaven is not a magical place where all our dreams are answered, 'heaven' was meant to be the stars where we need to explore one day.
I mean thousands of years ago all people did at night time for entertainment was watched the stars at night. And for you to say that you want everyone to be dead to see the 'light', is just ludicrous.

Please people of the US, don't vote people in who believe in fairy tales, else you may find yourself dead sooner than later.

What right do you have to judge anyone's beliefs? Whats it matter to you if I believe in God or not, I'm not asking you to do it too. Its a personal choice and its none of your business, just like your atheism is none of my business. Get off your high horse, for someone who doesn't believe in God, you certainly try to sound like Him.

He cut NASA and the space shuttle because the country is broke... it costs a boat load of money to run the space shuttle program and gives us little gain to be completely honest. I love space and wish we invested more money into understanding and exploring it. But using common sense, which Obama did, he cut the program to save money. It may not be popular to some people but its something that had to be done. Would you rather he cut SS or Medicaid? I'm surprised someone gets mad over him doing this of all things. Also, I don't believe in organized religion and don't believe in religions created by human imagination. That doesn't mean I don't immediately discredit someone like Obama. He's intelligent and has common sense, so I'm pretty sure his religious beliefs don't interfere with his judgement all too much.

    Dear BO,

Your education does not stop by being president:

The Book of Revelation is best described by the following:

"Nineteenth-century agnostic Robert G. Ingersoll branded Revelation "the insanest of all books".[30] Thomas Jefferson omitted it along with most of the Biblical canon, from the Jefferson Bible, and wrote that at one time, he "considered it as merely the ravings of a maniac, no more worthy nor capable of explanation than the incoherences of our own nightly dreams." [31]

Martin Luther "found it an offensive piece of work" and John Calvin "had grave doubts about its value."[32]

The fact is – your opinion does not matter as the Book Of Revelations given by God cannot be understood by mare minds of philosophical debates. It is Spirit and can only be understood if you are walking in the same spirit. Remember you don't have to believe in the law of gravity than to find out After jumping from a mountain. It will kick in. Same thing, everything happening in the entire spectrum of the earth is ALL found in the Book OF Revelations

A hardened heart was exactly what Noah in Genesis went through when he was told to warn the people of impending destruction, a hardened heart was what pharoah had when God allowed plagues to correct him through Moses. You cannot be born-again except you are convicted through the Holy Spirit. If you have a hardened heart, the Holy Spirit does not gate crash if you don't allow Him in. There is no debate here, but truth of God to men. Talking about Jesus and Salvation is something most already heard, but not willing to accept His saving grace. Obama is in the middle of the stage for the antichrist, (but know this, if he were the anti-christ your attempts to stop it and your efforts are useless as he will succeed from scriptures) Mandatory health reform is a guaranteed way to let them control our health and KILL people

What you can do is to prepare for Jesus Second Coming rather than focus on distractions the anti-christ brings through debates. Look all around you, look at our Dollar bill images, look at the crafty UN, EU, and WHO plannings, look at FEMA, believe me the safety campaign to secure your credit card of debit through chips will be implanted on people, As we are all seeing the stage set, research HAARP, ILLUMINATI. Remember the Bible states the anti-christ will come in peacefully but he will gain absolute confidence of the whole world. Obama surely has aidded him. Mark the following words:

      1. 2012 pending disaster is man made to bring chaos. There is always global Chaos before he manifests himself WWI, WWII were all planned and ways to control the people
      2. It will be made mandatory to recieve the mark of the beast 666 and our goverment will gladly endorse it. It is no more a secret. Ignorance and complicency is our greatest enemy
      3. Global food crisises has started and Somalia was a test run
      4. Entertainmnet from Hollywood will grow to keep people busy and distracted
      5. Political circus will unite prior to the anti-christ showing

The name of the ANTI-CHRIST is found when you use the Hebrew letters to match Hebrew Alphabet and Numbers for 6000 600 6. He is known to all presidents and world leaders, just a hint: he is very involved in the Re-building of the Temple In Jerusalem as of today. He contributes heavily to the temple re-building as that is where the abomination of desolation will occur. He is a great friend and advisor to the Royal families in Europe, Olympics Honors him all the time. He has largest share investment in ALL technological companies in the world. He is well revered by the Pope and he meets with the Islamic leaders as adviser. He organises relief efforts in all disaster areas and has a strong world-wide foundation. He is the greatest arms investor and owns 2/3 if arms companies. He is someone the media acknowledges for his uniqueness. He is Not American, but owns major share of the Federal Reserve (Research who owns US Federal Reserve) He has a name and made the most unique remark on 2012 disaster.

Come out of your box, think, even the bible tells us that "He that has wisdom should calculate the number of his name". his time is not yet but he is in his 30s.

All Goddening aside, I shall attempt to impart upon the simplest of minds my dumb-down take regarding Fractal, Celestial and Cellular Cosmologies and Nothingness.

    1. Fractal Cosmology
This cosmology declares there are points in the physicalness of matter that in size: things of matter look repetative or alike.

    2. Celestial Cosmology
This cosmology entails that there are innumerable amounts of Universes perhaps endless amounts.

    3. Cellular Cosmology
This cosmology entails the natures of the fractal and the celestial in that a single cell is akin to a celestial universe and infers or reasons that the fractal makeup of each cellular universe is dictated by its' base premise to be of one in many inummerable cell shapes and size variations.

    4. The Ocean/Seas of Nothingness
This sea or ocean of nothingness has rivers and streams and creeks that begins in the outer spaces of the celestial and flows ever deeply into each and every object from the biggest of stars to the very finite or smallest things of matter. The ebbing and flowing of nothingness gives to all things of material nodulations their innate abilities to coalesce or merge without clamoring into each other.

Only at the celestial plain can and do objects collide but within the atomic plains of a celestial collision, few to none collide yet when they do, they release an abundancy of energy's synnergisms. Stars are in constant turmoil and yet they have flowing rivers of nothingness these rivers do ebb ever deeply into a star's core being. As within any planetary object, the rivers and streams and creeks from the seas of nothingness do flow and ebbingly move about upon any planetary object's plains of atomic nodulations.

This is not true.. The Anti-Christ will be manifested at the end of chaos to come( War, economy, weather, religious upheaval, natural disasters) The anti-christ will be the head of the UN, EU, Arab League, Asian political group, he will originate from Europe- Middle east region. The eye on the Pyramid on the US Dollar. Obama definitely is aiding this man-of-sin like all other presidents before him. ANY PRESIDENT promotiong New World Order is directly an Agent of the Anti-Christ but not the Anti-Christ himself. Obama stands to make the middle east to be very unstable along with the economy. But, here is the deal, the PERSON HE NOMINTATES, THE – UN, EU, TRILATERAL COMMISION, COUNCIL OF FOREIGN RELATIONS, BILDERBERG, ILUMINATI, HOLLYWOOD, ACADEMIC SPHERE, RELIGIOUS SPHERE( CHRISTIAN CIRCLE), ALL WORLD PRESIDENTS AND LEADERS WILL UNANIMOUSLY AGREE TO THE NOMINATION OF THIS MAN to lead the NEW-WORLD ORDER – then all are doomed except those who know Jesus personally.

Knowing Jesus personally is recognition of our sinful nature and recieving the forginess of sin and eternal life through his shed blood 2000 years ago, the mistry that we will be debating and talking about the Anti-Christ 2000 yrs after He laid down is life is not a coincidence but prophesy about to be fulfilled. That is why when the anti-christ shows up as Jesus fore warned i Mathew 24, it will be the WORST nightmare of humanity on the face of the earth. Do you have an original thought? Or do you keep quoting other peoples writings? Do you understand your dusty old book was written by men 2000 yrs ago? Same as in the next 2000 yrs the inhabitants of this planet will think our science/religion will seem the same dusty old mythology? Quite mystical and unfounded in practical applications.

Your religious folks love to harness guilt and love to suffer within (this is the wrong thinking of course). As a human being when you move away from these guilt trip imposed by religion you will realize on your own that you are strong on your own. You can learn to appreciate life. You can be honest to yourself and accept the fact that "IT IS OKAY TO BE HAPPY JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT TO BE." This is the truth and you do not need a shell of guilt to surround yourself before you can be happy. That is what is wrong with you fundamentalists. You guys deserve to be happy and should just move away from needing guilt first and just accept happiness on your own.”

I am very happy Answer! I am in my habitat when I post about my views and perceptions! Too old to do anything else! I am way past admitting failure and in my repenting, I have found my Faith in Christ Jesus who was the very first Son born of GOD when in the beginning of Time GOD did create His Sons. The very first born Son of GOD did eventually become our Lord and Savior our Christ Jesus. In His dying upon the Cross at Calvary all sins and not just the chosen ones were forgiven us.

You see “Answer” my view is that it took GOD’s very first born Son many eons to do GOD’s will which was to set up a Cosmological Paradigm wherein all of Life would forever live and die and live and die until the new earth would be created out of this Celestial Cosmos’ firmaments which we know of as being Universes of innumerable amounts and they are being created even as I type and will until they have become the firmament of a new earth and a new heaven! (sorry about the length of my sentence)

How do you know for sure that some individuals are taking my perceptions under due considerations? Surely you can't speak for the whole lot of this world's people! So get off your high horse telling me this and spouting out that of what other may or mot think! Some have and some haven't. Case is adjourned until next week,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 🙂

People want answers not frauds, nor fake love nor false smiles to ween their heart to bogus claims. Try being honest with yourself. Be ignorant but I'll call you on it.

      Answer
You made a believer out of me, Thanks !
See I had to look up all the stuff you threw at me and now I really believe. Once I believed only on faith. Now, It is more than faith. You wanted evidence and I discovered that observation is acceptable proof. It may not be acceptable to someone with a bias but an objective scientist finds it acceptable. I personally observed the Holy Spirit working in my life just exactly as Jesus said it would. I have personnally witnessed the same in over 200 people and I understand it happens millions of times a year.
You observe dark matter and believe it as fact yet you cannot see it or prove what it is. 3800 years ago Moses recorded the beginning "Let there be light and the light separated the darkness". Finally, just a few decades ago science discovered what it likes to call the big bang and all the pride of man patted themselves on their own backs. A force at the speed of light separated the dark matter in the universe oh now that we can all hang our hats on................oops no proof yet and the big bang is questioned by some key scientists..........that's ok we believe in the big bang until some real proof comes in.

I only encourage to others to think. That is plain and simple. I am continually question this reality and so far have found the reality to science to be the best approach. Whatever you make of the words I type – makes no difference if you converted to atheism or cannibalism. You could die of shock and realization or commit suicide for all I care.

      Answer
Yes I agree you do encourage thought and I appreciate that. There is a reality outside of science that also begs your enlightened attention. Some have the gift of objective reason others are off the scale in the metaphysical relhm. Jesus and Einstein were men physically, which had the greater view of reality. We learn from both and need both. Jesus had a greatest impact with his gifts and Einstein would be in the top of scientific contributors. Einstein was in awe of what Jesus knew to be.
You may want to check out His words. Einstein did.

@Fred: here’s a little note from Albert for you
It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it

You said: "Rainbows are evidence that not only a higher power exists, but that that higher power is the Christian God, Yahweh. Don't believe me? Read the BIBLE."

I'm assuming you know what causes rainbows or are able to google the subject.

Rainbows are a good illustration of the "god of the gaps" phenomena. Early man did not know very much. So, whatever he didn't understand, he assigned to god. Why does it rain? God opens a window in the heavens. Why does the sun race across the sky? God drives the sun across the sky. Why are there rainbows? God stretched His bow across the sky...

As man's knowledge progresses, we are finding that god did not do it. The notion that god was responsible for something has always been wrong in the past. I suspect the future will look a lot like the past.

For all the beautiful things in this world (like the rainbow), there are also horrors. Disease and parasites that cause pain and death. Birth defects – babies born without brains. Disasters that kill men, women and children.

Much of our earth is covered by salt water, desert and ice. Hardly the sort of place you would expect an intelligent designer to construct. Especially given that being all powerful and all knowing nothing was impossible for him.

      Cheers!

      September 28, 2011 at 11:17 pm |
    • Bob Smith

Rainbows are caused by the refractive index of water when exposed to light at the proper angle to the observer.

The refractive index of water has not changed in all these billions of years since the Big Bang.
No gods exist. Physical laws DO exist and have remained unchanged since the beginning of this space-time continuum.
Rainbows are just refracted light. There is nothing special about them. They happened BEFORE Noah's time.

Can you explain that away? No. Not without lying your ass off.

      September 29, 2011 at 12:33 am |
    • fred

      Bob Smith
Seeing how you guys always say God cant be proven you cannot prove that rainbows existed before the time of Noah. You do not have the wisdom of Solomon as one must look outside of science for that. As long as you remain steadfastly blinded by science the real picture will allways escape you.

You said "Much of our earth is covered by salt water, desert and ice. Hardly the sort of place you would expect an intelligent designer to construct"
No you are trapped in the thinking of Eve. Their world was perfectly created by intelligent design. Man with his lust to raise his knowledge above God brought about all the ugly you speak of in this world. You are still doing it even though you see (assuming you even read the Bible) the error in such pursuats. Look at you statement and at least admit if there was a god he must be smarter than man.

      September 29, 2011 at 11:12 am |
    • fred

      Seriously
You may not know the story so let me summarize it for you. God creates a perfect place for man called the Garden of Eden. That is not good enough for man as he wants to be smarter than God. So man chooses the forbidden tree of knowledge which God warned him about. God knew man could never handle the knowledge of good and evil so this was the only tree in the garden which man was forbidden to touch. Man rejects God and reaches out touching knowledge of good and evil. What now, a perfect Holy God cannot be in relationship with evil. Man was cast out in the world you described. Such a world has; good and evil, atheists and Christians, good and bad natural events. This is why I say man brought it about. Man wants this good and evil existence as he rejected God for it. This is a theme throughout the entire Bible. Note this thread alone as to man getting exactly what he asked for. When it comes to your final end as well as the final end of all life as we know it man will get exactly what he asked for. You ask for darkness and separation from God you will be granted that wish. The only difference is that you will be with your like kind. Today you have a choice between life and death careful what you chose it has lasting consequences. You have no idea what an eternity without God looks like.

As to your knowledge, which you may or may not have, it is not the same as wisdom. Solomon to this day reflected wisdom far above the Greeks you love or peers in your small circle. If you read nothing else in the Bible you may want to at least check out Solomon then see how your knowledge stack up against wisdom.

More excuses for your mythical god, that's funny. What you can't dispute is man wrote a book they screwed up and made their god look totally dumb. The god created the tree of knowledge, created the serpent that talks, knowing that the humans he created would eat the fruit, then have the stupidity of saying it's all their fault. LOL! I was being sarcastic moron – because your lame arguments for your god don't explain the fact it deliberately set up humans to fail based on your mythical book. It's because it was made up by humans for humans and nothing more. People need to read it just like they do the Harry Potter books.

You do not need to believe in God or the Bible to simply understand the theme. It is a choice as is reading Solomon and Proverbs to gain some wisdom. How is it you cannot do such a simple thing? You just don't get that the mythical god in the Bible setup man to fail and then supposedly knowing the outcome, continued to condemn them anyway. LOL – . DUH! WAKE UP – it's a book written by men who didn’t understand their environment, so labeled anything they couldn’t understand as the work of a god. . The Hadron supercollider has (I think) proven that objects can travel faster than the speed of light. Neutrinos anyway can,,,,,,

Also science has concluded that there exists substances amid nothingness and it is called dark matter and dark energy due most likely that they know no other term to call it.

Also is my postulation that there floats upon this vast Ocean of Nothingness innumerable amounts of Celestial Universes and they are being created as I type. The vastness of this Ocean of Nothingness is beyond our comprehensives and we will never really know its; vast size.

GOD or this Ocean of Nothingness, being GOD's Holy Spirit reaches from the outer most regions of outer space and goes deeply within and into the atomic plains of Fractal Cosmologies.
