What is Hajj....simple put, it is a Religious Pilgrimage to the Al-Harem Mosque, more specifically, the the Kaabha, located in the city Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Why you know ask? To duplicate the travel of Abraham, Hajja & their Son to this point. Originally this pilgrimage was performed by Christian, Jews and Arabs, them later by the Muslims. Today it is a Muslim ritual manditory once in the life time of any Muslim who can afford to go.
This must be done at specific time and The trip to, performing the Hajj and back could be accomplished in one week, but most take approximate three weeks.

Actually this is one of those fill in articles.
It is one sentence long and in an article reporting sense, this would be up there as one of the worst.
I only replied because of your comment.
If the 'Belief' blog wants better comments, start writing better, unbiased, blogs.

No mass of postings by atheists slamming Muslims for their "fairly tale ideas", "religion is the source of all evil", "they are so stupid", and so on, and so on..

Atheists obviously only make fun of Christianity (one of the least ridiculous religions) but they'll accept one that claims the first people were 30 meters (over 90 feet) tall.

    • TheTruthFairy

When the Muslims come on here and state their claims, we'll get right on top of it.

I find it amusing that you mock claims in other books, but ignore those in your own. i.e. How old was Noah?

@TheTruthFairy "When the Muslims come on here and state their claims, we'll get right on top of it."

=>well, that's nonsense. 90% of the postings on the CNN blog are name calling data-less insults.

atheists hate the Judeo-Christian God, that's what atheism is built on.

      November 4, 2011 at 8:22 am |
    • TheTruthFairy

You do know that the Judeo-Christian God, and Muslim God are one in the same right? We don't hate any of your Gods, we just don't believe in them.

      November 4, 2011 at 8:31 am |
    • derp

      Chad, your are retarded.

We atheists are not capable of hating god because we do not believe god exists.

      Do you hate bigfoot?

Religion has been a source of conflict for more than a thousand years. Unless you refuse to take a side, then there is a legitimate reason to call any religion evil.

actually some of those handles are muslims in the garb of an atheist.it is very easy to spot those!

@TheTruthFairy "You do know that the Judeo-Christian God, and Muslim God are one in the same right? We don't hate any of your Gods, we just don't believe in them."

=>Not true, if they did, they would love Jews instead of pathologically hating them. Christians and Jews worship the same God, they read the same OT. The only difference between Christians and Jews is that Christians feel the Messiah has come, and Jews are still waiting for His arrival.

Jews are Gods chosen people. The fact that muslims believe Jews have corrupted His Word demonstrates that they worship a god they have made up.

      It's like:
      – "My hero is John Candy, you know, the Actor, Noble Laureate and 100m dash world record holder",
      – "Well, John Candy never held the world record, and was never a Nobel Laureate"
      – "Well, my hero John Candy did"
      – "Well, I dont know who your talking about, the real John Candy never did"

They arent worshiping the real God, it's a made up god.

    • JESUS SAVES ....his pocket lint.

Chad, muslims worship the same god as christians and jews. They believe jesus was a prophet of the same god.

"…We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our Allah and your Allah is one; and it is to Him we bow (in Islam)." (Qur'an, 029.046)

  8. NoJihadToday

The Hajj is a cultist practice of Islam. They come to honor and worship an idol – a black rock which "fell from heaven". It is also a demonstration of the most intolerant religion in the world. Non-Muslims are not allowed anywhere near Mecca. Just google for the Mecca street sign. The punishment for violating this – jail at the least...

its a showing of the cutlures strength of religion as a whole – something christians don't have, just faith! so sad!

maybe they should place one of their suicide bombers there. that way they can all have their 100 virgines...that is, of course if you're a straight man. if not or if you're a woman, you wouldn't matter and there is no reward!

    November 3, 2011 at 4:13 pm |
    • derp

      100 virgins?

Wow, it used to be just 72. If I were to believe in a religion, I think Islam has a lot more going for it now than Christianity.

How many virgins do christians get when they die?

they stone the pillars in the name of allah and then go out and commit acts of terrorism in his name. Islam was born in violence when Archangel michael beat and chokes mohammed until he wrote their koran. it continues to thrive in violence. why is it that Christians have coffee and doughnuts after services and moslems riot and loot after theirs?

Saving Muslims from the hajj is quite easy!!! (developed by yours truly based on the studies of Armstrong, Rushdie, Hirsi Ali, Richardson and Bayhaqi)

The Five Steps To Deprogram 1400 Years of Islamic Myths:
( –The Steps take less than two minutes to finish- simply amazing, two minutes to bring peace and rationality to over one billion lost souls- Priceless!!!)

    Are you ready?

Using "The 77 Branches of Islamic "faith" a collection compiled by Imam Bayhaqi as a starting point. In it, he explains the essential virtues that reflect true "faith" (iman) through related Qur’anic verses and Prophetic sayings." i.e. a nice summary of the Koran and Islamic beliefs.

The First Five of the 77 Branches:

    "1. Belief in Allah"

aka as God, Yahweh, Zeus, Jehovah, Mother Nature, etc. should be added to your self-cleansing neurons.

"2. To believe that everything other than Allah was non-existent. Thereafter, Allah Most High created these things and subsequently they came into existence."

Evolution and the Big Bang or the "Gi-b G-nab" (when the universe starts to recycle) are more plausible and the "akas" for Allah should be included if you continue to be a "crea-tionist".

"3. To believe in the existence of angels."

A major item for neuron cleansing. Angels/de-vils are the mythical creations of ancient civilizations, e.g. Hitt-ites, to explain/define natural events, contacts with their gods, big birds, sudden winds, protectors during the dark nights, etc. No "pretty/ug-ly wingy thingies" ever visited or talked to Mohammed, Jesus, Mary or Joseph or Joe Smith. Today we would classify angels as f–airies and "tin–ker be-lls". Modern de-vils are classified as the de-mons of the de-mented.

"4. To believe that all the heavenly books that were sent to the different prophets are true. However, apart from the Quran, all other books are not valid anymore."

Another major item to delete. There are no books written in the spirit state of Heaven (if there is one) just as there are no angels to write/publish/distribute them. The Koran, OT, NT etc. are simply books written by humans for humans.

Prophets were invented by ancient scribes typically to keep the un-educated masses in line. Today we call them for-tune tellers.

Prophecies are also invali-dated by the natural/God/Allah gifts of Free Will and Future.

"5. To believe that all the prophets are true. However, we are commanded to follow the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) alone."

Mohammed spent thirty days "fasting" (the Ramadan legend) in a hot cave before his first contact with Allah aka God etc. via a "pretty wingy thingy". Common sense demands a neuron deletion of #5. #5 is also the major source of Islamic vi-olence i.e. turning Mohammed's "fast, hunger-driven" hallu-cinations into horrible reality for unbelievers.

Walk these Five Steps and we guarantee a complete recovery from your Islamic ways!!!!

Unfortunately, there are not many Muslim commentators/readers on this blog so the "two-minute" cure is not getting to those who need it. If you have a Muslim friend, send him a copy and help save the world.

Analogous steps are available at your request for deprogramming the myths of Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Paganism..
