Fox apologizes to Jews for poll on who murdered Jesus

By Dan Gilgoff, CNN.com Religion Editor

(CNN) - Fox Latin America has pulled and apologized for an online poll that asked who was responsible for Jesus’ death and included Jews as a possible response.

The poll had been posted on a Facebook page for National Geographic Cable TV in Latin America as part of a promotional effort for a Christmas special on the channel, according to the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish group.

The National Geographic Channel in Latin America is a member of Fox International Channels, part of News Corp.

“Christmas Special is coming to Nat Geo… Who do you think responsible for the death of Jesus?” the Spanish-language poll asked, according to the Wiesenthal Center.

The multiple-choice responses were “Pontius Pilate; The Jewish People; the High Priests.”

On Wednesday, the Wiesenthal Center announced that the National Geographic Channel in Latin America had removed the poll and apologized for it.

"We sincerely apologize for the publication of a poll on our website that might have unintentionally given place to interpretations, opinions or expressions of intolerance that might affect the Jewish community," Fox Latin America’s vice president for corporate communications and PR said in a statement.

“This would contradict the mission and spirit of National Geographic worldwide, which focuses on education for diversity through shows questioning our world,” said the vice president, Guadalupe Lucero.

"We have also taken appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future,” he said.

No one killed Jesus, he laid down his life for us! Fox will always be the facilator of lies and hate! If you ever want to know whats wrong with the world, watch the way fox mixes false-hoods with truths! They will keep repeating the lies until they believe them, with the hopes that you will believe.

This has got to be the stupidest thing I ever heard of! It reminds me of when that loser Mel Gibson was asked if the Jews killed Christ and he said, "Well is sure wasn't the Norweigans!" We all killed him, idiot!

There are at least 15 prophecies regarding the Messiah (Jesus), many describing his manner of death. Those taking the lead in having him killed was the Jewish High court ( Sanhedrin) Matthew 26:59, 3-5.. One scholar characterized the high priests as men who were "tough, shrewd and competent–and very likely arrogant." Arrogance prevented Caiaphas from accepting the Messiah. This is shown by them taking Jesus to Pilate to sentence him to death. Pilate responds; "Take him yourselves and judge him according to your law." But they say" It is not lawful for us to kill any one.", if they killed Jesus during the Passover Festival, it would likely cause a public uproar, since many hold Jesus in high regard. But if they can get the Romans to execute him on a political charge, (sedition) this will tend to absolve them of responsibility before the people. In short, the Jewish religious leaders were responsible for plotting and carrying out Jesus death, the crowd was duped into believing the false charges brought against Jesus. They were manipulated like so many mobs and crowds are even today are. But to say that a entire race of people are responsible for his death is not correct.

Excellent and accurate response – but unacceptable, of course, in a world that is politically correct, anti-religion, and completely ignorant of both religious and secular history earlier than yesterday's celebrity shenanigans.

All the prophesies in Harry Potter are fulfilled in the Deathly Hallows, and WAY more than 15.

The problem with prophecies is that no one can predict the future. Sure, one can get lucky occasionally. A broken clock is right twice a day. Don't care what "special" powers one has they can't pull it off. No one can. (How many times has it been predicted that the world will come to an end?) So using the prophecy argument is moot. And for good measure, quoting the New Testament with regards to the Hebrews is weak at best as it was written with bias towards them because they did not accept Jesus as the Messiah. End of story.

Too bad the bible didn't predict, Hiroshima, Pearl Harbor, September 11, Hitler, the Black Plague, viruses and antibiotics, Pol Pot, or any of the other horrible things that have happened to man. Instead it wasted its time predicting some guy would come and save everyone (everyone except those who died from all of this other stuff). Oops.

Yeshua bar Josef, (Jesus), one of many illiterate itinerant preachers, was executed by a "cabal" of authorities, Romans and Jews, because he was a threat to the economic stability of a city based entirely on the temple economy,....(remember the incident the week before his arrest where he went into the temple grounds and overturned the money changers tables)....fees for the priests, fees for the offerings, fees for ritual bathing, fees to stay overnight, fees for this, fees for that, festival fees, travel fees, ritual food fees, fees for feeding the sacrificial animals, etc, etc, ...and ALL had to be changed into Hebrew currency from the prevailing Roman currency of the occupiers, (or it was considered "unclean"). The gospels tell of the authorities looking for him, and he and his followers trying to evade them. All the rest is religious 'slap-on" to the very banal events of history.

And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah ." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. (4:157)

Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise. (4:158)

This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah – (2:2)

Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them,(2:3)

And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. (2:4)

Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. (2:5)

Indeed, those who disbelieve – it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them – they will not believe. (2:6)

      ----
O you who have believed, believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Book that He sent down upon His Messenger and the Scripture which He sent down before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah , His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly gone far astray.(4:136)

Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided. (16:125)

And if you punish [an enemy, O believers], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed. But if you are patient – it is better for those who are patient. (16:126)

And be patient, [O Muhammad], and your patience is not but through Allah . And do not grieve over them and do not be in distress over what they conspire. (16:127)

Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good. (16:128)

      ---
Whoever desires honor [through power] – then to Allah belongs all honor. To Him ascends good speech, and righteous work raises it. But they who plot evil deeds will have a severe punishment, and the plotting of those – it will perish. (35:10)

What's the big deal? According to the jesus myth, he was supposed to "die." What does it matter who was involved – they were just were just following some (alledged) god's mysterious plan.

Funny how in the Old Testament God told the Jews to not worship anyone before Him and that any man claiming to be God is a false prophet and should be out to death. Then Jesus comes along and tells everyone he is God. Hmmmmm, sounds like he was asking for it according the God's rules.

No where in the Bible does Jesus claim to be God. Notice the question asked by the the Chief Priest . Matt. 26:63...."So the high priest said to him; "By the living God I put you under oath to tell us whether you are the Christ the Son of God !" Jeus reply was "you yourself said it." The question was not are you God, but are you the "Son "of God.
