Fox apologizes to Jews for poll on who murdered Jesus

By Dan Gilgoff, CNN.com Religion Editor

(CNN) - Fox Latin America has pulled and apologized for an online poll that asked who was responsible for Jesus’ death and included Jews as a possible response.

The poll had been posted on a Facebook page for National Geographic Cable TV in Latin America as part of a promotional effort for a Christmas special on the channel, according to the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish group.

The National Geographic Channel in Latin America is a member of Fox International Channels, part of News Corp.

“Christmas Special is coming to Nat Geo… Who do you think responsible for the death of Jesus?” the Spanish-language poll asked, according to the Wiesenthal Center.

The multiple-choice responses were “Pontius Pilate; The Jewish People; the High Priests.”

On Wednesday, the Wiesenthal Center announced that the National Geographic Channel in Latin America had removed the poll and apologized for it.

"We sincerely apologize for the publication of a poll on our website that might have unintentionally given place to interpretations, opinions or expressions of intolerance that might affect the Jewish community," Fox Latin America’s vice president for corporate communications and PR said in a statement.

“This would contradict the mission and spirit of National Geographic worldwide, which focuses on education for diversity through shows questioning our world,” said the vice president, Guadalupe Lucero.

"We have also taken appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future,” he said.

I just love the insecure Atheist. Smug and sure, they search the net looking for places to post their multiple reasons that their is no God, that we are merely apes, nothing more. But it is so obvious that the reason they post is to assure their own doubts. If they really believed there were no God they wouldn't be interested in the subject. It is the same thing that prods many to ask/say, "There has to be more".
Yet it is GOOD that they are interested because only he/she who seeks can ever find God. Jesus said, "Seek, and you shall find."
Before you quit seeking and begin ignoring religious stories, read the 1st 4 books of the New Testament. They could arguably be called inaccurate or even total fantasies, yet somehow, within the pages, Christ lives. Then the question for you will be, "Can you recognize a living being when you encounter it".

Peppermint Patty: An atheist and a perfectionist? Sorry to report that we live in a very imperfect world. But anyway, don't miss the gist of my entry: that those who have a desire to seek God will find Him!!!!! Have a good New Year.

No matter who was literally responsible for His death, the great thing is that all a person needs to do is to seek Him, as He said, "Seek, and you shall find". It is a promise. I personally found Him living in the 4 gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. If you truly wish to find Him you will, and a whole new world will open up to you, It may not be an easy world, but a world expanded exponentially, dimensionally, in a way that is comparable to the difference between animal and human existence.

What makes you think you have any idea what an animal's existence is like? How do you come by your spectacular arrogance when you're barely literate?

    That was spineless.

So what if "someone" gets offended? So friggin what!

Everyone needs to stop walking on eggshells around everything, especially don't offend Jews or Israel.

May you and I both have our best year ever of abiding in Jesus, being filled by the Holy Spirit, and resting in Abba's arms. May we love with God's love and patience, battle with God's power and courage, and walk in His ways and will. Since His desire is that every single human on earth be saved and come to a full knowledge of the truth, may we pray and work to that end, trusting in His power, crying out for His grace and mercy. May we be more conformed to His moral likeness and less conformed to the world system than ever. May we bring more pleasure to God, more cause for celebration to the holy angels, and more frustration to the demons than ever. May this be our best year ever because God got so much glory from our broken, humbled, devoted, obedient lives; and because so many hurting, screwed up, sinful image-bearers experienced unmerited, non-judgmental, affectionate, and sacrificially practical love when they let us into their lives; and because we were more zealously focused than ever on the expansion of the Kingdom of Jesus, one heart at a time... starting with our own.

I believe there was a 1st century CE, Jewish, simple,
preacher-man who was conceived by a Jewish carpenter
named Joseph living in Nazareth and born of a young Jewish
girl named Mary. (Some say he was a mamzer.)

Jesus was summarily crucified for being a temple rabble-rouser by
the Roman troops in Jerusalem serving under Pontius Pilate,

He was buried in an unmarked grave and still lies
a-mouldering in the ground somewhere outside of

Said Jesus' story was embellished and "mythicized" by
many semi-fiction writers. A descent into Hell, a bodily resurrection
and ascension stories were promulgated to compete with the
Caesar myths. Said stories were so popular that they
grew into a religion known today as Catholicism/Christianity
and featuring dark-age, daily wine to blood and bread to body rituals
called the eucharistic sacrifice of the non-atoning Jesus.

Oops, sorry, i unintentionally plagiarized that commentary from a Christian website. It was quite long, i only copied a small part of it and inadvertantly failed to add the source.
I do appreciate the kind empathy re the Crohns as i'm sure the actual guy would thank you too.
As to your comment re proof of God's existence via witnessing miracles, you r correct in saying they can't prove it. Indeed, the Bible addresses that, and related issues. There are scriptures informing us that even Jesus Himself could not perform many miracles in certain towns because of the people's unbelief.
And the real kicker for me is the one where Jesus said "when the Son of Man returns, will he find faith on Earth?".
As for my witnessing healing miracles, i always took others' "healings" with a grain of salt – until i was healed while asleep on a Sunday night of a cyst prayed for that morning. I told an atheist friend and he scoffed. I asked him if there was anything at all that could happen that would cause him to believe and he said "no".
Jesus said "if they won't believe the Scriptures, they won't believe even if someone were to rise from the dead".
And as always, he was right.

First of all, Pope Benedict XVI said the Jews did not kill JC. Second of all, Jews did not ever use the method of crucifixion to kill anyone. The Romans used that method constantly to punish the Jews and thousands of Jews died that way, also murdered by the Romans. Third of all – relatives of mine were murdered in the Holocaust. What would you think if I would use the same rationale as the Christians to kill millions of Jews for two thousand years and say because Christian Germans killed my relatives, all the Germans should be killed, and other Christians too? If I would feel that way, could I call myself a loving person the same way Christians have said their religion is the religion of love (even though they murdered millions of people just because those people were Jewish)? Next point – G-d is Infinite in every way. How can G-d be visible? He is Infinite. G-d can never be seen, because something Infinite cannot be finite.
The main thing to remember is that G-d created the world and created us in it to do good. We can have a good society when people will do the seven basic laws that G-d gave Noah for all people. They are to believe in One G-d, not to blaspheme Him, not to murder, not to steal (and kidnap), not to do adultery, not to eat the limb of a living animal (animal cruelty) and to set up effective courts of justice. Let's do our part to make the world a better place by increasing in acts of goodness and kindness. Everyone can find one small kind thing to do for one person every day, and those kind acts add up to make a force for the good.

THREE BULLS for a long time pastured together. A Lion lay in ambush in the hope of making them his prey, but was afraid to attack them while they kept together. Having at last by guileful speeches succeeded in separating them, he attacked them without fear as they fed alone, and feasted on them one by one at his own leisure.

      Union is strength.

" Had they been left alone with reason,

      they would not have accepted a spoken lie;

but the whips were raised to strike them.

      Traditions were brought to them,

and they were ordered to say,

      "We have been told the truth";

If they refused, the sword was drenched with their blood.

They were terrified by scabbards of calamities,

and tempted by great bowls of food,

Offered in a lofty and condescending manner."

Why won't god heal amputees? I'm stumped.

Hey Bob, Are you good with this? Hbr 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Hbr 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

@the whywontgodhealamputees guy: Marshall Brain [the anonomous 'brain' ('how stuff works' author) behind whywontgod...website] has designed an experiment to "prove" that God cannot heal amputees. The experiment goes something like this. Pick an amputee (must have both legs severed, just one would not be good enough), and have millions of Christians throughout the world pray for his healing. According to Brain, this proves that God does not exist. The main problem is that the experiment has never been done. So, in reality, Brain has proved nothing. Even if the experiment were to be run, there are some problems with its design. The first wrong assumption is that a large number of Christians are able to dictate to God what He should do. Healings do not necessarily require large numbers of people praying, since most recorded healings have involved just one prayer. The second wrong assumption is that God heals all who are prayed for. Even the Bible records examples of Christians – even apostles – who were not healed, despite prayer.3 The third wrong assumption is that every Christian has the gift to heal people. The Bible clearly says that this is not so.6 A fourth wrong assumption is that somebody can be found who is "deserving." According to the Bible, none of us is worthy of being saved.5 However, God, in His love, saves the undeserving through His mercy.4 God does not heal everybody of every infirmity in this life. I began working for my current boss in 1983 at the UCLA Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. Within two years, I developed Crohn's Disease, the most severe form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which has no cure. I found myself unable to do things using my own abilities and strength. After two months of being bedridden in severe pain, I cried out to God, even though I was a One who believes in the existence of an impersonal God.deist deist at the time (I had gone from an agnostic atheist to a deist in college). Within three months all symptoms of Crohn's disease had disappeared. That was over 25 years ago, and no symptoms of the disease have ever reappeared. However, thousands of people have gone through our Inflammatory Bowel Disease clinics and not been cured. I am sure that most of those people have prayed to God, but are still suffering. For some reason, God chose to heal me, so that I would know that He was personally involved in the lives of people. God acts to produce eternal, spiritual outcomes, and not just temporal, physical changes.

B4bigbang..Firstly I am glad that your Crohns has gone. however there is no proof that it was god who intervened. It is most likely a random event that also happens to others who have disease. As far as your statements about amputees are you saying that no one has ever prayed to have their leg or other appendage regrown? of course they would have..but none has ever grown back..not one..there must be millions of unfortunate folks world wide and through out history who have lost limbs. the reason is that the human body cannot do it..but it is capable of over coming disease at times. You would have thought that at least a few folks would have been in your gods favor in all the millions..after all some folks such as you have overcome your disease and you think it is god looking after you...so no amputee is ever worthy of "gods" love ?

    • Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son

Oh, please. If God is merciful and loving, why would He inflict his creation with illness and pain? Why does an omnipotent being require prayer of those He created to deign to relieve their afflictions and pain and suffering? He already knows, according to you, that they suffer. Why not eliminate that pain?

You are fools if you think your prayers do a thing. Why would they? Why would a just and merciful being require obeisance and groveling to relieve the suffering people endure? Why would He allow any illness or death at all?

Really, it is to laugh. People who devote their entire being and all their lives to doing His will are allowed to suffer terrible pain. Stop pretending that "He" even exists.
