Fox apologizes to Jews for poll on who murdered Jesus

By Dan Gilgoff, CNN.com Religion Editor

(CNN) - Fox Latin America has pulled and apologized for an online poll that asked who was responsible for Jesus’ death and included Jews as a possible response.

The poll had been posted on a Facebook page for National Geographic Cable TV in Latin America as part of a promotional effort for a Christmas special on the channel, according to the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish group.

The National Geographic Channel in Latin America is a member of Fox International Channels, part of News Corp.

“Christmas Special is coming to Nat Geo… Who do you think responsible for the death of Jesus?” the Spanish-language poll asked, according to the Wiesenthal Center.

The multiple-choice responses were “Pontius Pilate; The Jewish People; the High Priests.”

On Wednesday, the Wiesenthal Center announced that the National Geographic Channel in Latin America had removed the poll and apologized for it.

"We sincerely apologize for the publication of a poll on our website that might have unintentionally given place to interpretations, opinions or expressions of intolerance that might affect the Jewish community," Fox Latin America’s vice president for corporate communications and PR said in a statement.

“This would contradict the mission and spirit of National Geographic worldwide, which focuses on education for diversity through shows questioning our world,” said the vice president, Guadalupe Lucero.

"We have also taken appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future,” he said.

Yes agree to that we have wild nuts among them and all...after all we all together descended from one family of a brother who killed his brother in cold blood to confiscate his female pair...!! We decended from the killer one and his two wives...!!
      --
And recite to them the story of Adam's two sons, in truth, when they both offered a sacrifice [to Allah ], and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the latter], "I will surely kill you." Said [the former], "Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him]. (5:27)

If you should raise your hand against me to kill me – I shall not raise my hand against you to kill you. Indeed, I fear Allah , Lord of the worlds. (5:28)

Indeed I want you to obtain [thereby] my sin and your sin so you will be among the companions of the Fire. And that is the recompense of wrongdoers." (5:29)

And his soul permitted to him the murder of his brother, so he killed him and became among the losers. (5:30)

Then Allah sent a crow searching in the ground to show him how to hide the disgrace of his brother. He said, "O woe to me! Have I failed to be like this crow and hide the body of my brother?" And he became of the regretful. (5:31)

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. (5:32)

to bait the jews is always trepid water. God chose them over all others to record fact for a reason. just the same, any believer in Jesus Christ knows He was bruised for our iniquities. can't expect a denyer of Christ to admit to crucifying the Son of God.

      Agree with both of you but you must realize that GOD being Real had sent us messengers and scriptures for our guidance which later after been manipulated by mankind there came many religions and it's branches...as it seems every time GOD sent us a Holy Book some thing happens similar to that been foretold in the following verses;

It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise – they are the foundation of the Book – and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah . But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding. (3:7).

      No one can deny what he doesn't know for exact those things are supposed to be invisible supernaturals that no one knows for sure except by heart and by the believe in the unseen... ;

And it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them – they will not believe. (36:10)

You can only warn one who follows the message and fears the Most Merciful unseen. So give him good tidings of forgiveness and noble reward. (36:11)

I thought God killed Jesus. The story is he died for our sins. Why didn't God just forgive the human race as he/she is all powerful God?

The people who murdered Jesus? Simple the person who nailed him to the cross, and the person who ordered it, Pontius Pilate, you can't wash your hands of a sentence for a crime that wasn't a capital offense. Alas, this is all subjective, and was probably twisted in some way to benefit one group’s views. This is another case of one Religion targeting another Religion, who would've thought?

So God who supposidly created the universe has only one son...he sends him to Earth on a suicide mission (God must have known this would happen, he knows all..remember) and because of this we have Christianity which has been the cause and machine behind countless wars and unnecessary deaths of millions not to mention the world is NOT a better place. So, what is the point of Jesus dying? Most people I have met who claim to be so holy are "Jesus fans"..not true followers..and they edit the bible to suit their needs......

Don't confuse what Christ stands for with what churches say and do. Most aren't on the same page of scripture. Reading the Gospel(Mathew, Mark, Luke, John) explains Christ's teachings(that was a threat to the Pharises). The churches of today are more interested with protecting their 501c3 tax exemption than telling the truth.

Already Muslims have been mercilessly expelled from Palestine while Zionists in their bloodthirsty lust for land and power are not' satisfied with Palestine. In their arrogance they openly admit that they want all of Syria, all of Lebanon, all of Jordan in addition to Iraq, Iskenderun from Turkey, the Sinai, and the Delta area from Egypt and the upper Hejaz and Najd from Saudi Arabia. Yes, they even want the holy city of Medinah.

It was all a secret plot by Jews for Jesus! Those Judases

The Roman soldiers crucified Him, at Pilate's call, yet the Jews were crying for His death. However the death decree was from God. Therefore they who delivered Him to Pilate had the greater sin. However many of the Jews which were crying for His death repented afterwards and are now with the Lord Jesus in glory. Imagine that! Furthermore, all of Christ's people murdered Him by their sins. It is Christ's sheep who caused His pain and suffering and death, by our sins. And most importantly, though He was taken by wicked hands and crucified, and they meant it for evil, God meant it for good, to preserve life. It was by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God. It pleased the Father to bruise Him. And Jesus not only came willingly to die, but voluntarily. He laid down His life for the sheep. No man took His life from Him, but He laid it down of Himself. And He took it up again. He is not dead but lives! Why do you seek to place on trial those for the murder of the Lord who ever lives?

    • robertsgt40

Correct. All of Christ's deciples were Jews. They converted and were reborn as followers of Christ(with the exception of Judas, who hung himself at the end of the day) Christ's words were a threat to the Pharises power. They denied him then as now. Contray to Jewish beliefs, no one is born into the "chosen" status

Jesus's body was brutalized and hung on a cross of wood by barbarians of the ancient world and no, Jesus did not want it to happen as I'm sure none of you would either if it were you. Use some common sense and intellect before you leap off the deep end into your insanity of religious brainwashing! By the way, Jesus's spirit lives on thankfully in spite of all the stupidity of mankind.

  18. Bumper(In Spirit and Truth)...

    Sir Jimmy:

If you like, I would encourage you to read and review the previous blog postings. I agree with most of your points, but take issue with two statements. One statement is more superficial and the other is very important.

First, His death could be considered wrongful or perhaps murder because he was put down for a crime that he did not commit. He was accused of blasphemy, but was not irreverent in self identification as the Messiah. However, it is kind of silly to apply modern legal standards to those that were in place during the first century AD, hence superficial.

Second, from a theological perspective, your statement about offering up oneself for atonement is violently incorrect and against the message in the Holy Bible. Jesus was slain from the foundation of the earth for the atonement of our sins, but we can't do that for ourselves. If that were the case, a person could merit salvation through suicide! This is obviously an obscene idea. Nice try though. Read the blogs and learn.

  19. Sir Jimmy

The responses are many, so I have not bothered to read them. I would just like to point out that we are all responsible for the death of Jesus. However, this is not a murder case, and it's not even a wrongful death case. Jesus' death is an example of sacrifice. Jesus gave his life willingly to give us all an opportunity to choose. Having the dual nature of being divine – the Only Begotten of the Father – and also of being mortal, Jesus could not be killed but instead chose to die and rise again, as was His Father's will, to pay the debt of blood required to redeem a sinful race (all of us).

We owe the Jewish people of old thanks for passing to us their history, their faithful records, laws, and traditions. It is through the Jewish people that God chose to reveal the law of sacrifice through the rite of atonement. It is through the rite of the atonement that we recognize what Jesus did for us – each aspect symbolic, a dress rehearsal of the actual event repeated over hundreds of years. So through analogy, we see that although the priests officiated and carried-out the sacrifice, it was the presenter of the sacrifice for whom the blood was spilled.

So as beneficiaries of Jesus' Atonement, we are all presented with a choice. We can choose to die to our natural selves and follow the commandments of Christ, in which case we claim the Atonement offered by Jesus for our sins and inherit His resurrection. Or, we can choose to live the natural life, reject the commandments of Christ, rely on our own strength, and offer ourselves to atone for our sins. An atonement with God is required either way.

  20. Bumper (In Spirit and Truth)

    To Brother Maynard:

There is no need to feel sorry for me. True happiness and joy come from above. Our lives as human beings always has its ups and downs, but I have chosen to live my life with an abundance of happiness in my life (as Jesus instructed). We don't experience true joy through intellectual pursuits and external behaviors, it only comes from the heart transformation of a life committed to Christ.
Ask yourself a basic question. Are you a happy person? The world is full of unhappy people, depression, crime and sin, but Jesus has taken away the crimson stain of sin in the world that leads to death and the grave. What will you do on your appointed day when you stand before the Lord. What will you say when He asks you, "What have you done to glorify yourself and what did you do to glorify ME"? Have you lived a life trying to merit salvation through Catholic belief system? If so, no wonder you have rejected theism. God is God, God is not theism or religion. God has given us a gift that we have not earned, at a price that we can't afford while encouraging us to LOSE WHAT WE CAN'T KEEP (the world) TO GAIN WHAT WE CAN"T LOSE (eternal life through Christ). Christ demonstrated this basic principle through his death on the cross and subsequent resurrection. Always remember, Christ is resurrection power and life, the source of true happiness and abundance of joy.

"What will you say when He asks you, "What have you done to glorify yourself and what did you do to glorify ME"?"

I thought it was obvious that a parent should not try to live through their children. Do you ask your children "what have you done to glorify me?" Maybe your answer isn't the best one.

We exist to Glorify God. That is the meaning of life and why we were created. Period and end of story. This is the best answer ever.
