Explain it to me: John 3:16

By Eric Marrapodi, CNN Belief Blog Co-Editor

(CNN) - When quarterback Tim Tebow threw an 80-yard touchdown pass Sunday to secure an overtime victory for his Denver Broncos over the heavily favored Pittsburgh Steelers, some saw a biblical connection.

The completion gave Tebow, an outspoken evangelical Christian whose penchant for last-minute heroics have given him a reputation as a miracle worker,  316 passing yards for the game. His ten completions averaged 31.6 yards a piece.

Those figures inspired plenty of conversation and debate about a connection some saw to one of the most famous verses in the Bible, John 3:16.

The New Testament verse is held up by Christians around the globe because it neatly summarizes some key points of Christianity:  “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whosoever believes in him would not perish but have eternal life." (NIV)

In the third chapter in the Gospel of John, Jesus is having a late night discussion with a Pharisee, one of the Jewish teachers of the law, named Nicodemus. The chapter is also where the expression "born again" originates.

Jesus tells Nicodemus: "...no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." In his longer explanation of that idea, Jesus gets to the core of his message in verse 3:16.

The verse is popular with Christians looking to share their faith because it's short and information-packed: God loves humankind, man has sinned and is destined for eternal punishment, but eternal live awaits all who believe in God's son, Jesus.

John 3:16 also has a long history with football and pop culture.

During last year's Super Bowl, the Fixed Point Foundation, which promotes Christianity in the public square, tried to buy an advertisement pushing people to a website to learn about John 3:16 but the ad was was rejected.

The spot showed people watching a football game noticing the phrase John 3:16 on a player's eye black - a sticker or grease that players wear under the eyes to reduce glare from the sun. A man in the ad says he's going to look up the verse, while the ad directed viewers to www.lookup316.com.

At the time, Fixed Point Executive Director Larry Taunton told CNN that Fox Sports said it rejected his commercial because it contained "religious doctrine," though Taunton said the ad avoided featuring the actual words of the verse.

“Increasingly religion and Christianity is treated like smoking – you can do it but only in designated areas,” Taunton said. “They were saying there’s no place for (faith) in the public square. There’s a place for the soft core porn of Go-Daddy, violent movie trailers, and irresponsible drinking, but not for faith."

As a workaround, the Fixed Point Foundation ran its ad on Fox stations locally in Birmingham, Alabama and Washington, DC during the Super Bowl.

Tebow wore Bible verses on his eye black when he quarterbacked the Florida Gators in college.  In the 2009 BCS championship game, he wrote John 3:16 on his eye black. After he left college football for the NFL in 2010, the NCAA banned players from writing on their eye black, which some have called the "Tebow rule."

John 3:16 came into the pop culture view in the late 1970s and early 1980s at sporting events, when a man named Rollen Stewart would don a rainbow colored afro wig and a John 3:16 T-shirt. He was especially good at getting himself in front of the cameras at sporting and big cultural events, including the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana.

Stewart grew increasingly fanatical about his crusade. In 1992 he took a maid hostage with a loaded gun at a Los Angeles hotel, demanding a national press conference to proclaim his new message that the end of the world was near.

He plastered John 3:16 on hotel windows.  CNN reported at the time that it took a SWAT team nine hours to free the woman.

At his sentencing hearing Stewart had to be removed from court when he would not let the judge speak.  As deputies were dragging him out of the courtroom he screamed, "Don't take me out, I said.  God sends love to the world.  Forgive them, Lord, for they know not what they're doing.  They know not what they're doing, Lord."

That last phrase is also biblical, attributed to Jesus while he was praying for his executioners as he hung on the cross.

Stewart was convicted and sent to prison in 1993 on three counts of hostage taking and is currently serving three life sentences at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California.

Despite Stewart's story, many sports fans continue the tradition of evangelizing at sports games by holding up John 3:16 on placards.

Paul, hello, and i have posted to you since, but i did not get a response from you. Remember i wanted to get your opinion on the last subject of my question to you about the scripture Isaiah 49vs.26, and Isaiah 60 vs. 16, of the Creator YhWH saying that He is the only savior, and redeemer that we have, and there is none else. And also about the servant who once was of the transgressors, but turned intercessor, once he found his seed he turned his life as an offering to sins, 'prolonging his days' and praying for the transgressors all stated in Isaiah 53, and Isaiah 42 vs. 18-21. I did get your email but, i could not navigate it well, so do you think you could reply to the question now?

Paul, the sabbath is perpetual, it was sanctified, as taught in Exodus 31 vs. 13-18, and this is for all people to do the law of life, of YHWH, in Isaiah 56. His law is of righteousness, peace, and love for all, not just some. There is no in difference, poverty, greed, hate, war, etc..

In addition in the scriptures Isaiah 40 vs.18, and 25, YHWH tells us not to liken, or equal Him with no one. And, in Zech. 14 vs. 9, YHWH describes Himself as ONE.

Paul, could you explain to me who in Isaiah 49v26, and Isaiah 60v16, is saying that they are the only savior, and the redeemer that we have, to you? Also, He says in Isaiah 43v13, that no man can ever be delivered from out of His hands, and who is saying this to you?, and to other christians to answer this as well, for that matter. Then answer this, why YHWH would say this about Himself, and then say in the NT that His son is the savior, and redeemer, this is contrary, and YHWH is not contrary, not at all. YHWH tells us that in Isaiah 42 vs. 8,9, that never will He give His praise or glory to another. One other thing, in Isaiah 42 vs. 18-21, of the servant who will be upon the throne from the seed of David, tell me who do many of you think this is?, because if you say jesus, well I thought that many of you believed jc to had never done a bad thing ever in his life, or wrong; then if this is the case the words that are in this scripture of this particular servant says he was blind, deaf, and could not see, he doesn't observe, or hear, meaning he is stiff necked, hard headed, and the way many describe jc, he was never like this, but YHWH will bring this servant to full circle, and his righteousness will please YHWH, as YHWH teaches us in Isaiah 40 vs. 10-14, that this servant will rule for YHWH who is who taught him the servant, he does not know his seed yet at this point, and again this does not sound like jc, for christians say that jc knew already who he was, even taught scripture at 12. Discern people.

In addition to this servant finding his seed (realizing who he is), in Isaiah 53 vs. 10, it says this servant shall see his 'seed' when he offers his soul for sin, praying, and being the intercessor for the transgressors, and then he shall 'prolong' his life, his days, and here this is saying that he will live a long life, but will eventually die, and his seed, (children), shall be the next to rule on this throne as prophesied for the seed of David, and also the seeds of the Levites, the high priest, that there will be a number than can't be counted on the throne in the new kingdom, in Jeremiah 33 vs. 14-22, of this servant, and none of this sounds like jc people. Many of you say that he was resurrected, and will live for ever, and this is not ever mentioned in the so called OT, the book of remembrance, not even the story of jc, nor mary is written in the book of remembrance, in Malachi 3v16, the OT. And in Isaiah 7, this child Immanuel is Isaiah second son given as a sign to governor Ahaz to warn him of the two other governor plotting against him and the house of David. Isaiah first son was Shearjashub, second was Immanuel, then the third was Mahershalalhas, all were signs given to Isaiah from YHWH to warn the people of what is to come then as prophesied in Isaiah 8 vs. 18. The word 'virgin' in this Isaiah 7 chapter, is a transliteration, and with the Hebrew it was found that almah was there meaning a married maiden, for the word for virgin in Hebrew is buthula. Look it up, and again this book have to be discerned as taught to us by the prophet Micah from YHWH in Micah 7.

Paul, this is what highly anointed does, the seventh day of rest was sanctified by YHWH, before the birth, or making of Adam, in Genesis 2 vs. 3. Then, in Genesis 2 vs.7, Adam was formed. Being anointed is having the spirit of YHWH, and as I have said before YHWH spoke with Adam, and His family often with this spirit. In Genesis 6 these men of the pure line of Adam also knew the law, but decided one day to do what they wanted to, and this cost us our longevity of years to live, in Genesis 6 vs. 3. They with the anointment knew the law, the covenant, and with Moses it was the first 'writings' of the law to have this book, that YHWH calls the book of remembrance, in Malachi 3v16, for us to remember Him, and His law. Also, Noah, and his generations were of the law, and of One language, in Genesis 11, these people knew the law, but became unlawful, doing their own imagines, (stiff necked) as YHWH says in Genesis 11 vs. 6, showing their anointment, and perfections, but not inquiring their Strong One, which YHWH had to restrain them of. Just as today, many know this law, the 10 commandments, the sabbath, and know that it is for all, and the true pass over in exodus 12, but we are being stiff necked it has not changed since the days of old, straying away from it doing idols, and calling it YHWHs word; yet, YHWHs hand is still stretched out to us to return to His law. For As He has said to us in Malachi 3 vs. 7, to return to Him. But, even today we do not hearken to Him, nor obey His voice, or the covenant. And, do not forget in Isaiah 56, the future prophesy that is in progress right now, that this is for all people, and nations, not just the chosen. Many people are awakening to YHWHs truth. After the controversy over in Israel is handled by YHWH, then many more will awaken. Jeremiah 16 vs. 14-21, also a future prophesy.

Paul, oh i left out those scriptures you wanted, in Genesis 17 vs.19, of the original covenant, as early as Isaac, showing it was also with Adam. YHWH wants our love wholeheartedly, so He gives us unconditional love, yet gives a map of His law in this book of remembrance, said in Malachi 3v16, to choose to live our best life by, in Duet. 32v45-47. In Genesis vs. 17-19, of how YHWH knew Abraham would do all of the ways of YHWH. In Genesis 26v5, YHWH states that Abraham knew the commandments, the statues, and YHWHs laws. What other proof does one need? As i said people know this law every since the beginning of life, of righteousness, but they just choose to do what they want to, and again every since the beginning of creation. And, we are still doing it, but until we come back to the righteousness, and peace of YHWH, and His law, the 10 commandments, the sabbath, and the pass over; we will go through these pains, for if someone like jc died for our sins, then why are will still suffering on this earth, and since 2500 years now since 1st. century christianity we've been under long suffering. Also, why would YHWH say in Ezekiel 14v14-18, Ezekiel 18, and Jeremiah 31v.30, that no one can die for another man's sins, we are all responsible for our own righteousness, Then change that in the NT not true book. For the Creator YHWH changes not, as in Malachi 3v6, so that we won't be consumed by these lies.

In addition to this controversy the future prophecy of Isaiah 34vs.8. Then many will know who YHWH is. Isaiah 49 vs. 7-26.

Paul, the law given to Abraham in Genesis 26v.5, was no different, it entailed the covenant from the beginning of man, Adam, if you will, which was complete then. What many flocks have not been taught is that how important was the true lineage of Adam really meant, it was of its perfection, and its anointing, many from Adam were anointed by YHWH, and many are today, it is the birthright of mankind, the connection of the spirituality of the Almighty, King YHWH. The Sabbath was done for us on the seventh day that YHWH rested, it was sanctified in Genesis 2v.1-3, by YHWH, for us all to honor as did Ruth, for it is perpetual as stated in Exodus 31v.13-18. And, remember the scriptures in Isaiah 56, it includes all the nations to be with YHWH of His Law. These pure lineage of Adam, are the Sons of YHWH (God), who were all anointed immensely by His, YHWHs spirit. As was in Genesis 6, of the men of YHWH doing His law, mingled with the women not of YHWH, and made unbearable children. And as described in Job 1 v.5,6, and Job 2 v.1, these anointed men talked often with YHWH the law was the way of life then. Of Those nations who knew Him YHWH.

Paul, and to add; Malachi 3v6 is not to change any of the law of the Creator YHWH for it is our life as Moses prophesied in Deut.32v17, read on to Malachi 3v7, it says that we have gone away from the ordinances of YHWH, and not kept them His law, for it is perpetual as well as the covenant, and again remember this is for all nations in Isaiah 56, and as in Jeremiah 25, YHWH is speaking to the whole earth, if His law is not kept. This is going on right now in our world, the suffering of the sword. One must compare the past occurrences with what is happening today. Nothing is old about this book, as said to us in Isaiah 43 vs.18,19, and in Isaiah 43 vs. 3,11,13 it tells us who is to be praised upon high, and it is only YHWH. Isaiah 49v16 He is our only redeemer, and savior, there is no other.

Then Paul, in Genesis 9v1-7, this must be discerned, for in vs.3 it says everything is meat for you, but followed by green herbs, and normally this kind of scripture will repeat but this did not this is how you sense a 'red flag' most covenants are constantly repeated. YHWH would not say this then change it in Duet.14, and Leviticus 11. And Noah was told in Genesis 7vs.2 which animals were clean, and unclean, so why would YHWH tell Noah to eat everything moving knowing some were unclean, this is not YHWHs way uncleanliness, not at all. Discern.

Just saying Adam and Abraham had the same covenant as Moses, is not enough for me Lorraine.
You will have to show me from God’s Word. The scriptures you have shown so far do not prove this.
Genesis 26:5 talks about a covenant, this is what he made with Jehovah as recorded at Genesis 17:1-8. This was to do with circ@mcisi@n. There was a few other requirements placed on Abraham, but nothing to do with Sabbath’s or other ceremony laws.
It is true God rested on the seventh day of creation, but there is no command for humans to hold the seventh day sacred until the law of Moses.

Felix M: We only have one perfect Bible, and that's the A.V. 1611 King James Bible
If the King James 1611 was so perfect why did they need to change it recently? They found that the 1611 version removed God’s name “Jehovah” over 7000 times. The new version has replaced it where it should be. Other translators recognised this years ago, (such as ‘New World Translation’ committee) and saw a need to have a more faithful Bible to the original language.
Actually the King James 1611 is a translation. Miles Coverdale translated it in 1535 and was based on William Tyndales translation. Tyndale was executed in 1536 one year later. Miles Coverdale was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest in 1514. In 1528, Coverdale had started to preach in church against the unscriptural Catholic practices of image worship, confession and Mass. As his life was at risk he left England and lived in Germany.
In 1534 King Henry VIII defied the Catholic church and was open to having the Bible available to the people in English. Coverdale took on the task and actually revised Tyndale’s translation, working from Latin and German versions. Coverdale assured the King that Tyndale’s footnotes were excluded and so Coverdale’s version was authorised by the King and consenting to it being published.

Paul, yes, YHWHs divine name was removed over 7000 times by those same roman, and jewish hellenistic alexandrian writers who began their rewriting, and also creating the NT, in 200bce, from what was taken out of the book of remembrance, in Malachi 3v16, this book's true name, look it up. Then in 311bce Constantine made christianity legal, by force, as was prophesied in the book of Daniel that the strange gods, idols would rule over many in Daniel 11v39, and also of Islam in Daniel 11v43. This was also prophesied by Moses in Deut. 32v17, of the future generations, that they will go into strange gods of idolatry, which is described in Duet. 4 of what we should not do. No images of any man, or woman, yet, this is exactly what mankind did, made images of jesus, mary doing just what we were told not to. Also, not to make any images of anything in the heavens, but we did it anyway of angels, etc. we're just plain stiff necked, until this day, still doing idolatry, and all religions are not of YHWH, and His spirituality of righteousness, and peace. As Daniel warns, and teaches that they rule over many for gain these religions. Many can remain on the good ship jesus, 'look it up' but we were truly warned by the true prophets of YHWH Daniel, and Moses.

    Lorraine Voss:
True Christians in the first century were never in agreement with Hellenistic Alexandrian Jews or Constantine. These all apostatised from the truth as preached by Jesus and his apostles.
However as for the translating of God’s Word, we have very reliable Bibles today as these can be compared with ancient manuscripts for accuracy.

Something else too, the Law you mention from Genesis 26:5 that was given to Abraham was quite different to what Jehovah gave to Moses.
The Law given to Abraham, as recorded in Genesis 17:22-27 this refered not to sabbath or the Law of Moses as he had not been born yet. Genesis 2:7 speaks of Adams creation from dust, but no mention of a Law given to him and the only law given to Adam and Eve, was not to eat from the “tree in the middle of the garden.” Genesis 2:16,17

      June 14, 2012 at 2:20 am |
    • Paul

Also, Noah was also given a Law, in that they could eat all animals, no mention of unclean ones that he should avoid but they were not to eat blood, and that they should fill the earth with humans. Genesis 9:1-7
The Law of Moses was given for the nation of Israel and is quite different in detail. The Nation of Israel was “first-born” in that, it was the first nation he had ever made a covenant with. Psalms 147:20 Jehovah said,” He has not done that way to any other nation. And as for [his] judicial decisions, they have not known them.”

To conclude, if you look at the context of Malachi 3:6, Jehovah not changing is in reference to his standards of judgement. His judgement is always true and always just.
It is obvious God changed his plans after Adam and Eve sinned, or are you suggesting God wanted them to sin. This would go against him being a God of Justice and Love.
I accept the entire Word of God, including the Greek Scriptures, much of which explains how the Messiah fulfilled prophecy written in the Hebrew Scriptures.

No, we only have onw perfect Bible, and that's the A.V. 1611 King James Bible. All other so-called "moderd bibles" use the corrupt text's siniaticus, vaticanus, and wescott and hort. The NIV is not realible at all, it attacks the deity of Christ, ommits words, changes words, leaves out complete verses, and is a perversion of the Bible, not a version. Not to mention other books that would call themselves 'bibles'.

Paul, the letter 'J' was not in existence until the 1500s or 1600s, the Creator, and King's name is YHWH. And when many people 'flocks' were taught that He has many names, wrong, for He tells us in Ezekiel 36v22,23, that He will sanctify His name from the profanity that has been committed on His holy name from the priest, pastors, elders, popes, and shepherds against Him. Just like anyone wants for their name to be acknowledge properly so does YHWH. look it up Yod he wav he.Hebrew.

Lorraine: Unclean animals cannot be eaten
Peter who was a Jew really struggled with this too. In fact it took three visions and God’s Holy Spirit to convince him of this change. Acts 10
Other faithful men of the OT ate unclean animals prior to the Law of Moses. For example, when Noah came out from the ark Jehovah gave clear direction on what he could eat, “every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for you.” (Gen 9:1-7) The only prohibition was that they were not to eat the blood of the animals, they had to be bleed. So prior to Moses other faithful men and women like Shem, Abraham, Sarah, Lot, Jacob, Isaac, Rachael to mention just a few who were Jehovah’s friends, had no direction on what was clean or unclean to eat.
So then having a relationship with Jehovah is not dependant on what we eat, but obedience is. So if Jehovah changes back to the way it was prior to the Law of Moses, which he made perfectly clear to Peter, then we obediently follow his direction.

Paul, you are aware that the book of remembrance is to be discerned, for this is a transliteration of those writers the helenistic alexandrian jews in 200bce, and who were later in agreement with Constantine. Remember that Abraham had the law, and YHWH knew he would teach his future generations in Genesis 26v5, and it all started in Genesis 2v7, with Adam. Also, YHWH teaches us that in Micah 7 we are not to trust in this guide, we have to discern it, and YHWH tells us that He changes not in Malachi 3v6, so there are no changes, not from the creator YHWH, none, He is not contrary; not His law, of the 10 commandments, the sabbath, and the pass over in Exodus 12, and this law is for all nations, not just the chosen people as taught to us in Isaiah 56. The key is YHWH taught us He does not change so we won't be deceived, so watch out for any changes; it is not of YHWH the Creator of life. Pray, read, and do the law from Genesis-Malachi.

Lorraine: The NT contradicts the OT
Just to clarify a couple of things Lorraine. It was John who said “No man has seen God.” John 1:18 This actually harmonises with the OT, where Jehovah said to Moses, “You are not able to see my face, because no man (Heb ha-‘a-dham’ or “earthling man”) may see me and yet live.” Moses was permitted to see the back of Jehovah’s glory from inside a cave, while Jehovah placed his palm across the entrance while he passed by. Even so, when Moses came down from the mountain his face had to be covered and he glowed so much the Jews could not look upon him. Gen 33:20; 34:29-34.
So when Abraham said he saw Jehovah (Gen 18, 19) it would obviously be in harmony with what Jehovah had previously had stated to Moses. It is obviously an angel who represented Jehovah, most commonly thought to be Jesus, prior to his birth on earth as he is spoken of as the “word of God” or his spokesman. It is of interest too that present with Abraham on this occasion was Sarah and his attendants as they prepared a meal for the angels and Jehovah, there is no mention of a need for a veil to cover Abrahams face, or that of the others. If this was truly Jehovah in person, it would make what he said to Moses a lie. We know that cannot be, so the conclusion is that this person Abraham called Jehovah was not actually Jehovah, but a representative of his. All this harmonises with what John stated at John 1:18.

Paul, if I see the backside of you, I can still equate that as seeing you, right? YHWH only said that no man can look upon His face, for he shall die. So this completely dispels what the jew john 1v18 says. There is no harmony in changes, YHWH teaches He changes not in Malachi 3v6, so we won't be deceived. Which means that the nt,not true, wrote by jews, trying to establish the inheritence in Daniel 11v14, this does not coincide with the OT,the obvious truth. Also, in Isaiah 6v1-6, Isaiah said that he 'saw' YHWH, and in other scriptures Isaiah, and the other prophets either say if this was a vision or not. For YHWH does nothing without His prophets, in Amos 3v7, this must be remembered. What does Moses face glowing have to do with seeing YHWH, this was from the great knowledge, and wisdom Moses accquired from YHWH. The people were not jews, they were Hebrew Israelites, as evidently proven in Exodus 3v18. To add Abraham, and Sarah did see YHWH, for as YHWH said Abraham was His friend in Isaiah 41v8. Do not be deceived for this book has to be discerned as Micah 7 teaches us. Know that in Exodus 4v22,23 the firstborn son of YHWH is 'Israel' there cannot be two firstborn sons. And read in Ezekiel 16v3-13 of the first birth of the chosen people this is of he beginning, Adam, and of the covenant as well. Isaiah 56 includes all nations being with YHWH not just the chosen all living in peace, and righteousness with the law of life.

A thought to consider without a typical ego response

Accept Jesus christ as your lord and saviour. You never know how soon is too late. Transcend the worldly illusion of enslavement.
    The world denounces truth....

Accepting Jesus Christ (for me) resulted in something like seeng a new colour. You will see it .....but will not be able to clearly explain it to anyone else..... Its meant to be that way to transend any selfism within you.

Also... much the world arranges "surrounding dark matter into something to be debated" in such a way that protects/inflates the ego.

The key is be present and transcend our own desire to physically see evidence. We don't know anyways by defending our own perception of dark matter.

Currently.... most of us are constructing our own path that suits our sin lifestyle. Were all sinners. Knowing that we are is often an issue. But both christians and non are sinners.

We don't like to Let go and let god. We want control to some degree. This is what Jesus asks us to do. "Let go and let god".
It's the hardest thing to do... but is done by letting the truth of scripture lead you (redemptive revelation)... as I said .

Try reading corinthians and see if it makes sense to you. Try it without a pre conceived notion of it being a fairy tale.
    See the truth...
do we do what it says in todays society... is it relevant... so many have not recently read and only hinge their philosophy on what they have heard from som other person...which may have been full of arogance pride or vanity..

Look closely at the economy ponzi, look at how society idolizes Lust , greed , envy, sloth, pride of life, desire for knowledge, desire for power, desire for revencge, gluttony with food etc .

    Trancsend the temporal world.

Just think if you can find any truth you can take with you ....in any of these things. When you die your riches go to someone who will spend away your life..... You will be forgotten.... history will repeat iteslf.... the greatest minds knowledge fade or are eventually plagerzed..... your good deeds will be forgotten and only give you a fleeting temporary reward . your learned teachings are forgotten or mutated..... your gold is transfered back to the rullers that rule you through deception. Your grave will grow over . This is truth .

Trancsend your egoism and free yourself from this dominion of satan. Understand you are a sinner and part of the collective problem of this worldly matrix... Repent.... Repent means knowing

Evidence follows faith. Faith does not follow evidence..... Faith above reason in Jesus Christ.

Faith comes by Reading or Hearing the word of god from the bible . Ask Jesus in faith for dicernment and start reading the new testament... You will be shocked when you lay down your preconceived notions and ....see and hear truth ... see how christ sets an example ... feel the truth....

    Read Ecclesiastes. Read corinthians.

You cant trancend your own egoism by adapting a world philosophy to suit your needs. Seek the truth in Christ.

Sell all your cleverness and purchase true bewilderment. You don't get what you want ....you get what you are in christ.

I promise this has been the truth for me. In Jesus christ .

Think of what you really have to lose. ...your ego?

Break the Matrix of illusion that holds your senses captive.

once you do . you too will have the wisdom of God that comes only through the Holy Spirit. Saved By grace through Faith. Just like seeing a new colour.... can't explain it to a transient caught in the matrix of worldly deception.
You will also see how the world suppresses this information and distorts it

Your all smart people . I tell the truth. Its hard to think out of the box when earthly thinking is the box.
I'ts a personal free experience you can do it free anytime . Don't wait till you are about to die.. START PUTTING YOUR TREASURES WHERE THEY REALLY MATTER >
    Its awsome .

Are you sugesting we as christians need an object like an idol in the form of a cross to worship God?

      Try reading 1 John 5:21; 2Cor 6:16

Did you know that the greek word stau-ros' translated "cross" in many Bible translations actually means "torture stake", which means an upright stake. The Imperial Bible-Dictionary acknowledges this saying: The Greek word for cross, properly signified a stake, an upright pole, or a piece of paling. Even amongst the Romans the crux (from which our cross is derived) appears to have been originally an upright pole." P. Fairbairn (London, 1874), Vol. I, p. 376.

To answer the origin of the “Cross” further.
“The shape of the [two-beamed cross] had its origin in ancient Chaldea, and was used as the symbol of the god Tammuz (being in the shape of the mystic Tau, the initial of his name) in that country and in adjacent lands, including Egypt. By the middle of the 3rd cent. A.D. the churches had either departed from, or had travestied, certain doctrines of the Christian faith. In order to increase the prestige of the apostate ecclesiastical system pagans were received into the churches apart from regeneration by faith, and were permitted largely to retain their pagan signs and symbols. Hence the Tau or T, in its most frequent form, with the cross-piece lowered, was adopted to stand for the cross of Christ.”—An Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words (London, 1962), W. E. Vine, p. 256.

In saying this I do not reject the Christ and salvation that he has provided by means of his death. What is of paramount is what he did, not what he did it on.
Jesus Christ provided an answer to Satan’s challenge, that no perfect man could prove faithful to God. That he answered absolutely. Also, by means of his death we have a wonderful hope of everlasting life in Paradise, as he promised the evil doer who hung beside him.

Paul, Daniel 9, is about the command for Cyrus the Great from YHWH, who was anointed to conquer the so called king, should be called governor Nebuchadnezzar. to free the slaves, the (captives), YHWH is the only King. The command to restore Jerusalem in 70 weeks begins in Isaiah 44v28, Ezra 1, Daniel 9, and the Chronicles 36v22,23. And in Ezra, 2v64, 43,600, had returned from war. And, in Daniel 9, it tells us about the Prince, and the Messiah then, and it was Zerubabbel, not jc, to confirm this go to Ezra 1v8, where Cyrus gives the captured treasures to Zerubbabel under his slave, captive name Sheshbazzar, look it up, its Zerubbabel's slave name. Then in Isaiah 45, it magnifies Cyrus who YHWH chosen, and anointed, and in Isaiah 45v14,15 the conquered so called kings, (gov), of Ethiopia, and Sebeans thought Cyrus was YHWH,for he whipped them so badly.sorry, you have been mislead by the priest, and pastors, popes elders, who in Psalm 83 are all described as the enimies of YHWH, then this is confirmed in Malachi 2, Jeremiah 23v1-5, and Ezekiel 20, they are all misleading the flocks, for gain, as prophesied in Daniel 11v39, of strange gods that Constantine legalized in 311Bce of christianity, and then in vs.43 of Islam both religions are pagan to YHWh, these our forefathers knew not. Just read all of the posted scriptures, and connect the dots. They knew we would not read the OT, and took us to the NT, instead, it contradicts the OT, in many scriptures. Such as in Romans it tells that no man has ever seenYHWH, well Moses did in Gen.18,19, and Isaiah did in Isaiah 6, and in Timothy it says all creatures are to be eaten, NO, YHWH says do not eat uncleaned animals.YHWHs day is closer each minute.
