Santorum co-chair: Homosexuality 'makes God want to vomit'

(CNN)–Reverend O'Neal Dozier, pastor of the Worldwide Christian Center in Pompano Beach, Florida, joined CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin to discuss some controversial statements he has made in the past on social issues.

Dozier, an honorary Rick Santorum co-chair, defended his views that homosexuality is 'disgusting' and 'the paramount sin' in the eyes of God.

He went on to explain why he thinks that Mitt Romney is unelectable due to his Mormon faith.

    • Prayer is not healthy for children and other living things

Prayer causes small kids to get hit by buses when they aren't paying attention.
Prayer takes people away from actually working on real solutions to their problems.
Prayer wears out your clothes prematurely.
Prayer contributes to global warming through excess CO2 emissions.
Prayer fucks up your knees and your back.
Prayer can cause heart attacks, especially among the elderly.
Prayer reveals how stupid you are to the world.
Prayer exposes your backside to pervert priests.
Prayer makes you post really stupid shit.
      Prayer makes you hoard cats.
Prayer makes you crave the smell of kitty litter and leads you on to harder drugs.
      Prayer wastes time.

    Well articulated Reverend.
God loves everyone equally and God forgives all sins.

    February 1, 2012 at 6:23 pm |
    • Not quite

If God forgives all sins, then there is no hell, and all other beliefs and non-beliefs are accepted by him. Which would be true if there actually was a God, but it is not at all true according to every religion on the planet.

      February 1, 2012 at 6:30 pm |
    • Kylie

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
      (1 John 1:9)

      February 1, 2012 at 6:38 pm |
    • Not quite

Then God does not forgive all sins. Get your story straight.

      February 1, 2012 at 6:39 pm |
    • Kylie

1 John 1:9 is pretty clear that we receive forgiveness when we confess our sins to God and seek his forgiveness.

Good. Now all you have to do is provide some evidence that the Chistian version of God is correct, and you are set.

What? You don't have any evidence? Because there is no evidence? And based on evidence, Pele or Biffy The Dancing Leprechaun are every bit as likely to exist as the Christian God?

Yeah, it's that evidence thing again. That whole thing about how you radically altered your life and want others to do so based on an idea with absolutely no credible supporting evidence.

Look, I cannot earnestly seek God on your behalf, your life your choice.

Now, I can tell you that I am convinced about my faith because I have experienced his grace in my life. Each one has to experience that grace for themselves.

Unless you have sought the truth how will you find it?

Santorum has a really bad record as an economic conservative. He has supported ear marks on a number of occasions. He also has a terrible record on trade. He has supported a number of tariffs that would raise cost on consumers. He sponsored a bill that would raise tariffs and then given those tariff revenues to a special interest group.

One of the biggest id.iots I have the displeasure of hearing.. wasted good 7 mins of news channel coverage.. Lets see where he is wrong..
    – Does bible say those two cities had people engaging in the act? it says that act was abomination.. but doesn't say what.
    – He supports a guy who says "no abortion in ANY case.." but his own wife had one because her health was at stake.. and shamelessly changes his stand to include his own gotcha. what a piece of guiding light
    – He loves hom.ose.xuals but not their act? what else identifies them? Their skin color?
    – Bible says judge not.. and look how greatly he follows that..

Why is it ok for stupid jacka.sses like this guy to be so hypocritical? Yet, Dumb sheep see him as the guiding beacon and lap up his words like honey.

  14. American In Exile

I would like to take a moment to apologize on behalf of all true Christians for the ignorance that permeates this post. Love is unconditional and all that we are commanded. The God you see, and the Jesus you believe in is not those depicted in the scripture. You are living a dead faith founded in nonsense and NOT as commanded, love is not a commodity. It is eternal.

    February 1, 2012 at 5:12 pm |
    • George R

This idea that God is love is a relic of the hippies of the 60's and 70's. In fact, God is love, but He is many other things as well. Some of them are terrible.

      February 1, 2012 at 5:15 pm |
    • Stevie7

The idea that an omnipotent being would have emotions is laughable. Your god must therefore be weak. That's probably why he has such an inferiority complex – always making sure you're not checking out the other gods. Making you promise that you won't talk to them.

      February 1, 2012 at 5:18 pm |
    • American In Exile

The idea that God is anything but love is the biggest problem facing Christianity today.

      February 1, 2012 at 5:18 pm |
    • Stevie7

It's pretty much only the gospel of John that even supports the idea that god is love. Maybe a psalm here or there – but that's about it. The rest of the bible is filled with god turning people into salt, destroying the planet, murdering infants, or telling people that they're more likely than not going to suffer forever when they die.

If that's your version of love then you probably grew up with an abusive parent as a model for love.

      February 1, 2012 at 5:23 pm |
    • DamianKnight

      @Steve,

I am afraid I must disagree. There are more passages in the Bible about God's love for mankind than there are about His righteous anger. To clarify, below are a few passages just from the Old Testament, not including anything from Psalms.

Exodus 34:6 "And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness."

Deuteronomy 4:37: "Because he (God) loved your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength"

Deuteronomy 7:8 "But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt."

Deuteronomy 23:5 "However, the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loves you."

2nd Samuel 12:25 "and because the LORD loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah."

1 Kings 10:9 "Praise be to the LORD your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD’s eternal love for Israel, he has made you king to maintain justice and righteousness.”

1 Chronicles 16:34 "Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever."

2 Chronicles 2:11 "Hiram king of Tyre replied by letter to Solomon: “Because the LORD loves his people, he has made you their king.”

2 Chronicles 5:13 "The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the LORD and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.” Then the temple of the LORD was filled with the cloud,"

2 Chronicles 7:6 "The priests took their positions, as did the Levites with the LORD’s musical instruments, which King David had made for praising the LORD and which were used when he gave thanks, saying, “His love endures forever.” Opposite the Levites, the priests blew their trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing."

2 Chronicles 9:8 "The priests took their positions, as did the Levites with the LORD’s musical instruments, which King David had made for praising the LORD and which were used when he gave thanks, saying, “His love endures forever.” Opposite the Levites, the priests blew their trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing."

Ezra 3:11 "With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD: “He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.” And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid."

Nehemiah 9:17 "They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Therefore you did not desert them."

We already have a word for love, it's called love. And love is the word we affix to an emotion we are feeling. It is self defined.
Now why add another label called god to an emotion we already have a good word for, unless, and here it comes, you are defining god to be somewhat different from love. Like, maybe a supernatural being?

Oh didn't you know? Civil Rights are supposed to only be for people that fundamentalists/evangelicals deem worthy. At least this is my assumption based on the cr@p that comes out of their mouth. Apparently a few agnostics are getting in on it as well.

Regardless of what studies show, society does not see it that way. You are trying to force it on society when it is not ready. You are just going to create a backlash as evidenced by some of the religious nuts on this board.

    • HawaiiGuest

      @Sanity

Exactly where is the polling data that shows that the majority of americans feel the way you assume? Spouting off that society isn't ready doesn't mean anything unless you have the data to back it up.

    • Snow

Society will never be ready to change.. But the fear of retaliation should not be deterrent to doing the right thing..

Do you think the society was ready to end the slavery in 1860s? Do you think the society was ready to end colored people's segregation in 1960s? and do you think the society's stand in those days is correct and should be condoned?

But the heart of the matter is that you personally do not like the idea of gay marriage. So why are you talking about what society supports and what it does not?

    • Getting Over It

      Sanity,

I am an oldster, and honestly, I still get a slight twinge of discomfort at inter-racial marriage. Intellectually and logically I know that it is perfectly ok, legal and acceptable, but that taboo instilled in me by society long ago still lingers a tiny bit. I also know that it is a purely emotion-driven twinge, and I choose to let logic rule my behavior.

I don't spend a single second's worth of time thinking about what the hetero couple across the street does in private, nor would I do that about a ho-mos-exual couple.

p.s. and, Sanity, nobody is telling you that you must do it... nor even think about it.

      February 1, 2012 at 5:00 pm |
    • Huh?

"Agnosticism is as big a sin as hom.os.exuality."

      Fornicators

These are people that are in a sexual relationship but are not married. If these people die in this state, say in a car crash, they won't go to heaven, but they go to hell.

      Idolaters

The online dictionary says they are:

      One who worships idols.

One who blindly or excessively admires or adores another.

A person can worship money and do all they can to get as much as they can. People enter the lottery for this reason because they think that if they had a million dollars all their problems would be gone. This can also be a man that idolises his wife or a wife that does the same with her husband. Many couples love each other more than God and this can be a grave error.

      Adulterers

Jesus said this in Mark 10:11-12:

11 So He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. 12 And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.

Jesus says quite clearly here that second marriages are adultery. But 98% of the people I share this with want to have an argument with me about it. But you can also be committing spiritual adultery against Jesus.

      James 4:2-4 reads,

2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

James says here that the person who lusts after all the best things in the world is an adulterer and an enemy of God.

How many enemies of God will make it to heaven I have to ask you?

Are you an enemy of God?

      Sodomites

The act of anal intercourse, oral intercourse, as well as bestiality.

Now, a man and woman that have anal sex are in danger of the hellfires if they do not cut this out of their sex life.

      Thieves

These are people that keep on stealing what they should be paying for. This may include teenagers downloading free music that they should be paying the artist for and parents that buy cheap knock off DVDs that are burned in an Asian country. It is also a person that receives copies of DVDs from friends who rented them from a video store. People who take home office supplies and don’t pay for them. People who surf the web for several hours at work.

      Covetous

The dictionary says the meaning is: "inordinately or wrongly desirous of wealth or possessions; greedy." Many of the people who listen to and love the prosperity doctrine, and the teachers of it, are covetous. If they die in an unrepentant state they will go to hell.

      Revilers

The dictionary says, "to speak abusively." This is what psalms says are mockers and gossips also I reckon. There are a lot of these that need to repent.

      Extortioners

The dictionary says, "Law. the crime of obtaining money or some other thing of value by the abuse of one's office or authority. Oppressive or illegal exaction, as of excessive price or interest: the extortions of usurers." Police in foreign countries do this a lot.

--So George R, you mean to tell us that we CAN fool god, and lie to her, saying we believe when we don't. I though she was omniscient. You have a very poor opinion of your deity there, bud.

  19. Gay Agnostic

George R and HeavenSent: Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. Personally, I have a lot of fun.

I deny your God. I deny your Jesus. And your concept of hell has no power over someone like me who doesn't believe in it. I can't wait for the day when your kind disappears so, like that Florentine said when he witnessed Savonarola burning, "Thank God. Now we can get back to our sodomy."

    February 1, 2012 at 4:44 pm |
    • George R

"your concept of hell has no power over someone like me who doesn't believe in it."

You will believe in it. You may not think that it has power over you, but it exists nonetheless.

    • Paddy

George R, "You may not think that it has power over you, but it exists nonetheless."

You may not think that Leprechauns have any power over you, but they exist nonetheless (and they are the reason that you speak so much blarney).

Gay A, enjoy your state of denial while on earth ...

      Matthew 10:28-33

28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul : but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

      Amen.

That is because bible quotes are all they have. A lack of true understanding and tolerance causes them to latch onto anything that they feel will validate their point. The thoughts, wishes, and feelings of others mean nothing to them. In short, they are complete dou.ches.

The statistical studies from the nineteenth century and the three CCU studies on prayer are quite consistent with the fact that humanity is wasting a huge amount of time on a procedure that simply doesn’t work. Nonetheless, faith in prayer is so pervasive and deeply rooted, you can be sure believers will continue to devise future studies in a desperate effort to confirm their beliefs.
