Oliver Stone's son on 'accepting Mohammed'By Dan Merica, CNN (CNN) – A week after news outlets reported on the conversion of Oliver Stone's son Sean to Islam, Sean denied he'd converted while also saying he has "accepted Mohammed." “I happen to agree with what Mahatma Gandhi, he said 'I’m Hindu, a Jew, a Christian, a Muslim and a Buddhist,'” Stone said in an interview with CNN. But Stone also referred to himself as a Muslim, calling Islam “an extension of the Judeo-Christian heritage. Mohammed is a prophet in that same line going back to Abraham.” Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency reported last week that Sean had converted to Islam, and news outlets around the world picked up the the story. But in the Wednesday CNN interview, Stone said he did not “feel like I have become a Muslim.” “I don’t feel Muslim any more than I am Christian or Jewish,” Stone told CNN's Fredricka Whitfield. Stone, whose mother is Christian and father is Jewish, went on to say that he believes he worships the same god as he always has. “I reaffirmed my faith in that one god,” he said. "And I think my purpose in this sense is to help explain Islam to Americans and to the west." Stone was educated at Princeton University and Oxford University and studied the Quran at both schools. He said those experiences, coupled with ability to see Islam practiced on a day-to-day in Iran, put him on the path towards Islam. Stone told CNN that he believes that what he did was to state his belief in Islam publicly, but not to renounce his former faith. Stone said his decision stemmed from a desire to educate people about Islam, to "let them see it is not a religion of fanaticism.” Stone was in Iran to shoot a documentary about the country. In the process of shooting the film, Stone was able to set up a meeting with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. “He told me personally, no bomb, no bomb,” Stone said. “I do defend the nation state, their national right to have nuclear power. And if that means a nuclear bomb as well, I defend that right.”

Just watched Sean Stone on Piers Morgan... the propaganda surrounding Iran's nuclear development is very unsettling and dangerous...has Piers not observed how some countries are permitted to have nuclear energy(and weapons) but others are denied??? Who has the right to decide? Oh, that's right: the country with the most–must be the U.S. Such ethnocentric hypocrisy! Scientists in Iran are being murdered...outrageous! Most of the developed world recognizes the need for a variety of energy sources...killing those with the brains to help solve these issues is an international shame. It is a very sad point in history when the threat of a third world war is becoming conceivable and we will likely rely on Russia and China to decide not to engage.
You'll just have to get over it. I'm not willing to take the chance that they won't use them on us. You can call it hypocricy all you want-I could give a crap less what people like you think when our safety is at stake. We don't live in the Utopia that you seem to think we do.

He is right true religion is to believe and obey only one God. Every time humanity deviated from this path, God sent down His of prophets (Noah, Ibrahim, Mosses Jesus and Mohammed were among thousands) who carried this single message to the whole humanity (And they all had the highest moral standards). God is not a Christian, a Jew, a Hindu or a Muslim. God is simply God. All religions, and denominations of religions, are man-made. Each religion claims that their particular scriptures are divinely inspired by God. If that is true, God is going to an awful lot of trouble to confuse us, divide us, and create havoc amongst his children. Somehow I doubt God is doing this. It is simply human beings that create pain, misery and suffering in the world. It cannot be blamed on God, or the devil. It's just us.

@ Steve – An agnostic is somewho who believes that it's not possible to know if God exists. I clearly stated that God is simply God. This admits that He exists but that He cannot be blamed for the misery here on earth, so agnosticism is automatically off the table. Come back to the discussion when your reading comprehension is better.

Well, that proves that sometimes the progeny is not as bright as the forebears. If you have studied Islam then how can anyone in their right mind still think it is the right path in life. And how can he believe in Jesus as the savior while Islam denies it vehemently, only assigning him a 'prophet' status, which as we all know means the whole basis of Christanity and the trinity concept is shot to pieces. What I hear from his statement is pure ignorance or an attempt to deceive people into thinking he is still somebody who he isn't anymore. I am leaning toward the second supposition provided that he is not a moron, which cannot be altogether ruled out at this point.

Basically, I couldn't cut it in Hollywood or Bollywood or just about anywhere else that had a film industry, so I decided to become a token Westerner in Iran and make documentaries about Shiite religious figures there. I get lots of attention from their press.
I totally ignore the fact that, were I a prominent Iranian, had I said exactly what I said here, that I am still part Jewish and part Christian, I would be arrested and tried before their religious court, and punished. But I am useful to them as a public figure, so they don't arrest me.
