Regarding Tebow, Matthew 20:15 "Is your eye evil, because I am good?"
My fantasy is he meets a gay rapist in a dark alley or gutter just where he lives.
The mob always has the reasonable person at a disadvantage.
Kenny>>> I watched a few min. of one of his HBO rantings and someone in the audience said something and it wasn't until the bouncers showed up that that punk Bill started to act manly. His show is nothing more than scripted just like him.

You fantasize about gay rapists a lot, do you?

I agree with Bill Maher, but then again I'm a lifelong atheist ... I have never believed for one minute that the god as portrayed in the bible or koran has any possibility of being real to everyone, otherwise that god would make itself obvious and not hide behind man made lies and cultural practices that self perpetuate thanks fo fear ... otherwise there would not be several thousand man made religions trying to claim that god as their own ... yes, it is an opinion, only valid to the opinion holder and no one else ... Bill, thanks for so strongly making that point, not that it makes any difference to god fearing people ... they will hold on to their opinion as strongly as they hold on to their shotgun, thinking that each provides them with some form of security ... to intelligent people, neither is secure and neither leads to true freedom of the mind ...
This is because you don't know the bible or the whole reason GOD is not involved in the world right now. Man declared independence from god (rebellion). So God lets the question of sovereignty and his right to rule play out, gives man what he wants and thinks is better. Instead of peace and happiness we see the opposite. People STILL die, grow old, get sick, war famine, disease... before the rebellion death did not exist. The WHOLE point of the bible is paradise lost to paradise gained and does God have the right to rule mankind. The question is being answered and soon God will end this wicked system of things and bring back under his rule, anyone not on God's side will be destroyed. Seek TRUTH while it may yet be found, there is not much time left.
LOL@ I was a catholic atheist too. soo funny. Just cause you're born into a religion doesnt mean its your faith. I haven't gave up on "faith" when I was catholic. I got into drinkin' an smoking' and said "god aint real, i'mma do me" the whole ordeal.
Then bribed to go to some church (not a catholic church) for wee.d, believe it or not...walked in an an atheist, walked out a saint. God showed up. Never anticipated, never thought it could be real...I remember is looking around the room in disbelief of what took over...God. I bugged out, and to this day I have the testimony of what happened to me that day, to never be shaken in my faith.
I was never ever the same either.
Ok...in "earthly terms"
Heaven is like a night club. A VIP ALL EXCLUSIVE PARTY where ONLY a select few will get in.
You can dress the part, act the part, even live the part. Bottom line is, if your name isn't on that list, and you don't know the Owner, you're not getting in.
God sent His Son to die for the evil's we do. He doesn't send anyone to hell, they send themselves because they don't even want to humble themselves before anything bigger than themselves.
God desires all, but if you can't humble yourself to be less than Him, than you won't ever hear, you won't ever see, you won't ever realize.
The majority of this world will go to hell, because God gave all men what they wanted. If they want Him, He comes. If they don't want Him, He won't. He doesn't force Himself on anyone.
If we are to praise god for all things good, then we are also to blame him for all things bad. If God gave man free will, and this free will lead us to not believe in God, then why would he damn me to hell for something he has clearly caused?
Faith is belief without and against evidence and reason; coincidentally that`s also the definition of delusion.A perfect being requires nothing, certainly not the simpering praise of lesser beings; the god of the bible is an impossibility.
Every party gets boring after a while.
So let me get this straight; you're using as an analogy of God's everlasting love for all humanity some segregated gathering place for the elite? Is that like apartheid, the white's only country clubs of the 50's, or the snobbish hollywood parties of today? Honestly, do you folks think that everyone is so pretentious as to want to be at a party that excludes others?
"We may not doubt that society in heaven consists mainly of undesirable persons."
- Mark Twain,
t is easy to see that the inventor of the heaven did not originate the idea, but copied it from the show-ceremonies of some sorry little sovereign State up in the back settlements of the Orient somewhere.
- Mark Twain
@ Oh Yeah: Is that like apartheid, the white's only country clubs of the 50's, or the snobbish hollywood parties of today? Honestly, do you folks think that everyone is so pretentious as to want to be at a party that excludes others?
God excludes no one. The fact of the matter is, you exclude yourself. As Mikey said, God desires EVERYONE, even the lowest of sinners. All you have to do is repent of your sins, accept His son Jesus as your one and only savior and you're automatically forgiven and added to that "VIP List" Mikey talked about. One thing Mikey touched on but didn't put into words is that Jesus is the bouncer at that party. Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the Father but through me." If don't know Jesus, you will never know God, and you will never be able to see the "proof" all atheists demand. The bottom line is this, God reveals Himself to those who desire a relationship with Him. And he sends his true followers and believers to be a testament to his existence. Living a Christian lifestyle is not an easier life. In fact, from the day you are saved, you will be more attacked and persucuted than you ever were before. Satan desires to separate you from that closeness to God, and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal, like using the slanderous words of atheists. Don't judge people for wanting to believe in God and trying live a righteous life, judge them rightly for trying to force you the atheist to believe the way we do (the bible warns against that). Instead the true believer is called to be a living testament to God's goodness, ministering to those who don't know Him and desire Him. My responsibilty as a Christian is not to convert the atheist, it's to speak the word of God through the wisdom he provides and letting you descern for yourself if it's right for you. If God isn't for you, that's fine. But don't judge me for believing that He's right for me.
We understand the concept of heaven mikey. We just don't think it exists. And if I was looking for some eternal exclusive nightclub party, I'd pick the one with the 72 virgins.
Faith is not an opinion, it's a gift from God.
We did not CHOOSE to believe.
We did not CHOOSE to have faith.
God ordained it, so to say that our Faith is an opinion...is as wrong as can be.
Lunatics who believe that they hear voices or are inanimate objects didnt choose that either. I guess god ordained that too?
If faith cannot be chosen then how about all the other religions that do not believe as you do? What about the agnostics, the pagans, atheists, Buddhists?
Majority of the people adopted into "religions" have agreed with their doctrine because it affected them or it is what they wanted to hear. Or they could've been born into the family tradition. I don't have all the answers, I'm no better or worse than you, the only difference is I will stand before God, forgiven.
Why is god admitting people to heaven or sending them to hell for what you say they did not choose? If people don't choose christ why does the christian god reward them?
So it's not a choice because of their family? If that were true then I would still be catholic, since my whole family is catholic, I was sent to catholic school, and that other stuff. Since I am not a catholic, and rather an atheist, your whole "choice" argument is kind of null. Belief is a choice, and to pretend otherwise is ridiculous.
@mikey- I have to disagree. We do choose to believe. Even Jesus recognized this when he talked about those that could believe when they have not seen all that the disciples had saw.
Maybe God is a scientist and we are all his test subjects. Some he has given the proposed 'cure' to overcoming our selfish tendencies, and the rest of us he keeps around as the control group. So far, the results indicate that the cure is worse than ineffective, it actually magnifies the ailment in many, and causes some nasty side effects, like overly inflated egos and pric.kish self-righteousness, as well.
"You did not choose me, but I chose you"
Not "could" but "would"
Faith is belief without and against evidence and reason; coincidentally that`s also the definition of delusion.
Every victim of a con had faith in what they were being told.
And I did not choose to disbelieve. It was just a natural outcome of discovering the many logical errors in believing that God exists. I don't think that I could choose to ignore them for an easier life as a believer either. That's why Pascal's Wager is such a stupid argument. How could anyone choose to believe in something that they know isn't true?
I cannot see how a man of any large degree of humorous perception can ever be religious - unless he purposely shut the eyes of his mind & keep them shut by force.
- Mark Twain,
That's sad, mikey. Personally, I stopped believing in god when I realized that literally thousands of gods have been invented, worshiped, replaced or rejected by humanity throughout history, and that there isn't a single shred of evidence to support the existence of any of them, even the christian god. Of course, I'm not afraid of death, and I'm okay with the thought that my life will end and I will be forgotten eventually, so maybe I don't have any reason to believe in something for which there is no proof.
"Faith is believing what you know ain't so."
_Mark Twain
TTFN
@mikey- and yet..we still have to choose to accept him..correct?
"You did not choose me, but I chose you"
Pikachu!!
I chose you!!!!
Faith is not an opinion .. but it is beyond Bill Maher....Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence fo things not seen...Through faith we understand that the words were fraqmed by the word of God so that the things which are seen were made by that which do not appear... ... The architect of this planet is far to great to be seen by the mortal eye...That is why he appeared one day in the form of Jesus Christ.... This same Jesus was crudified for the sins of he world and received up into glory ... From that place at the right hand of Gdo he sat down expecting till all his enemies be made his footstool... I am his servant and I testify to you that he has filled me with his Spirit or if you like he downloaded himself; (his image in me) Christ dwells in me... near 34 years now ....and I am building myself up into him...
Because Christ lives greatly in me ... I feel no need to force anyone to accept me... and I certainly need no one who like Bill cannot discern the living God, yet...to defing to me what faith is... it is not an opinion because God has already proven himself to me... but Bill is free to his opinion... but I am goin got pray that God will be merciful to him and give him some proof...some pentecostal proof... 🙂 🙂
"Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence fo things not seen"
LOL! Now that is a great for the definition of delusional. Oh I now I'll have faith that I'll get evidence of pink flying elephants!
ATT; The Cold hard Facts
You need to change doctors , or at the least get your quack to up your meds.....
wow
"Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence fo things not seen"
This is actually correct as long as you realize that the quant ity and quality of both "substance" and "evidence" here is zero.
The cold hard facts are these: There is no proof of your god. There is no proof of heaven, or hell or the devil. There has never been any proof of ANY god. You believe because you wish to believe, or you have been raised to believe. Had you been raised in a primarily hindu area, you'd probably be worshiping Krishna right now. Sorry.
@tallulah Yes, there is proof. It's called the Holy Ghost!!
You're exactly the reason it's called an opinion. You're stating everything like it's a FACT. Facts are concrete and real. What you're telling everyone is something that you beleive is true in your heart as a fact. What may be fact to you is seen by other as an opinion. Beleivers in all religions beleive everything about their god is fact, when in reality everything they beleive isn't fact, but their opinion (no matter how strong it is). It's my beleif that religion causes friction and hostility between faiths, especially the muslim faith. Nobody beleives stronger than muslims. Try going to the middle east and opening uip a huge catholic church. We'll see how long it takes before it gets burned to the ground. Just my 2 cents.
I saw this the other night...it was a good interview. While I don't always care for Maher's opinions on religion, he gives a well thought out pov on all the topics he covers.
My fav Maher moment was back during the time when israel took over that protester boat trying to get to Gaza. Bill took up for Israel 🙂
