Throngs gather for pope's Mass in Mexico

By the CNN Wire Staff

Silao, Mexico (CNN) - Pope Benedict XVI led an open-air Mass Sunday before throngs of faithful Catholics in central Mexico.

Cheering onlookers waved balloons, flags and banners as the pope arrived at Bicentennial Park in Mexico's Guanajuato state. Many said they had spent the night camped out, awaiting the pope's arrival.

More than 400,000 people attended the Mass, according to Mexico's state-run Notimex news agency.

The pope urged Mexican Catholics to remain true to their faith, and called on the Virgin Mary to "continue accompanying and protecting her beloved Mexican and Latin American children, so that Christ reigns in their lives and helps them to boldly promote peace, harmony, justice and solidarity."

Lying is a sin, you've been proven a liar over and over again on this blog. A great example of prayer proven not to work is the Christians in jail because prayer didn't work. For example: Susan Grady, who relied on prayer to heal her son. Nine-year-old Aaron Grady died and Susan Grady was arrested Friday morning...

An article in the Journal of Pediatrics examined the deaths of 172 children from families who relied upon faith healing from 1975 to 1995. They concluded that four out of five ill children, who died under the care of faith healers or being left to prayer only, would most likely have survived if they had received medical care.

Plus don't forget. The statistical studies from the nineteenth century and the three CCU studies on prayer are quite consistent with the fact that humanity is wasting a huge amount of time on a procedure that simply doesn’t work. Nonetheless, faith in prayer is so pervasive and deeply rooted, you can be sure believers will continue to devise future studies in a desperate effort to confirm their beliefs.!

Martin Luther's anti-Semiticism if any wasnt "manifest anti-Semitism" like Hitler's. The Jews did try 2 exterminate Xnity by violence in its Early stages. They also excommunicated Xtians thereby leaving them without de legal protection of being a Jew in de Roman Empire. These r not easily forgiven.

No need. History is my favorite hobby. I don't know why u have to rewrite History but i've seen these claims. For Geography lessons I am a member of the Akan nation we do not mutilate women's genitalia. Nor do I condone the nonsense said against Catholic clergy because of an abuse scandal.

Martin Luther's anti-semitism if any didnt extend 2 Christ or His disciples n de Prophets whom he recognised as Jewish. It is 2 b said that 2 b antagonistic isnt necessarily anti-semiticism otherwise de Jews of Luther's time cud be called anti-Xtian which is just as bad. Genocide is Hitler's crime.

      March 26, 2012 at 7:27 pm |

      March 26, 2012 at 2:31 pm |
    • Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son

Then you should state so in your posts since you can't reply to specific posts. And you're an idiot if you think that Christians 'rejected Hitler'. They did not. You are pretending that Hitler sprang into full-blown power in an instant. His rise could have been stopped at the beginning had Christians risen up and opposed him.

      Revisionist history sucks.

And go mutilate your own genitals, ya wart. Nobody cares what you think about the LGBT community.

Hitler was a catholic and the RCC never excommunicated or censored him. One might suspect that the RCC supported Hitler's activities to eliminate a theist compet!tor.

We excommunicate Christians. If you are not a Christian we can't excommunicate you. Hitler couldn't be excommunicated. He used to be a Catholic but left it behind for his own religion.

Hitler's Positive Christianity, Arian Christ, manifest anti-Semitism, etc rendered him as much a Christian as a Bhuddhist. He lost so the Allies may have twisted things but a few quotes do not make up all that he wrote and spoke n did. These are what made Xtians reject him while in power.

I was talking about maybe the Allies pushed the Hitler's non-Xtian doctrine too far but it now looks unlikely as the Ally who first entered Berlin was Atheist. Also there r a lot of files, etc where he pronounced his unXtian doctrines. As 2 Bible interpretation, we use more than 3 verses 4 a topic.

That's not what I asked you. There were millions of Christians in Germany in the 30s and during the war. Had a majority of them rejected Hitler, he'd have been a nonent ity.

I don't for a moment believe Hitler was Christian. He did proclaim he was doing 'god's work' in his speeches.

Do you deny that Hitler wrote:"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people.

-Adolf Hitler, in a speech on 12 April 1922 (Norman H. Baynes, ed. The Speeches of Adolf Hitler, April 1922-August 1939, Vol. 1 of 2, pp. 19-20, Oxford University Press, 1942)

We were expecting you at the correct address down the street, but you never showed up. We finally realized where you were when Blabby The Wonder Gopher saw you being held hostage and undergoing their bizarre rodent conversion rituals. Fortunately the magic gerbil undergarment did not fit and you got away! That was a close one.

Hey, come on by later and we will get on their roof and bonk them on the head with acorns! The acorns make a cool deep THUD sound as they bounce off their hollow skulls.
