Video of North Carolina pastor's plan to 'get rid of' gays goes viralBy Dan Gilgoff, CNN.com Religion Editor (CNN) - Video of a North Carolina pastor preaching that gays and lesbians should be rounded up inside an electric fence is going viral on the Internet, two weeks after North Carolina passed a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage and President Barack Obama voiced personal support for legalizing such marriages. "I figured a way out, a way to get rid of all the lesbians and queers, but I couldn't get it past the Congress," Pastor Charles L. Worley can be seen telling his Providence Road Baptist Church congregation in the video, which had more than 250,000 YouTube views by Tuesday. "Build a great big, large fence - 50 or a 100 miles long - and put all the lesbians in there,” Worley went on to say in his May 13 sermon at his Maiden, North Carolina, church. “Fly over and drop some food. Do the same thing with the queers and the homosexuals, and have that fence electrified so they can't get out. Feed them. And you know in a few years, they'll die out. You know why? They can't reproduce." My Take: The Bible condemns a lot, but here's why we focus on homosexuality The video had initially been posted on Providence Road’s website but was recently taken down, according to CNN affiliate WBTV-TV in Charlotte. The phone line at Worley’s church was busy on Monday night and on Tuesday, as was Worley’s home number on Tuesday. The church’s website was down Tuesday morning, but it had described the house of worship as fundamentalist, meaning it represents a Baptist tradition that's more conservative than the Southern Baptists. My Take: The Christian case for gay marriage Worley’s sermon was posted on YouTube by a group called Catawba Valley Citizens Against Hate, which is organizing a protest at the Providence Road Baptist Church on Sunday. Addressing his congregation last Sunday, Worley referred to his earlier controversial sermon. "I talked a little bit, I believe it was last Sunday, on the homosexual lifestyle, and there was a whole lot of people who didn't like what I said," Worley told his congregation Sunday, according to WBTV. "I want to read it out of the Bible, and then we'll go from there." Worley’s initial sermon was partly framed as a response to Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage, which he made in a TV interview a day after North Carolina voters passed a state constitutional amendment banning legal recognition of such marriages and other types of gay unions. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, or GLAAD, was working Tuesday to gather criticism of Worley’s comments from other North Carolina pastors. “I am angry and sick at heart over Pastor Worley's comments,” said the Rev. The man must have a very low IQ (as most highly religious do) He thinks separating gays from the rest of humanity will eliminate gays? there will always be more because they still come from straight people... then why separate gay men and lesbian women from one another? they arent going to procreate to preserve the gay race....

So, is he implying that fencing up lesbians in one area, and gay men in another area, would cause them to die out because they couldn't reproduce? wouldn't the EXACT SAME THING happen to "straight" people?
Maybe we should do the same thing with all of the Baptist fundamentalists...throw the men in one pen, the women in another, and occasionally FLY over and drop food...you know, so we don't get close enough to them to catch their cooties.
Someone also forgot to tell him that the overwhelming majority of gay folks are born to straight ones.
The GOP fosters this sort of bigotry. They talk "freedom" but they enable this anti-American crap.

Americans got a good long nasty look at Islam in the last ten years. Now we are looking inward at our own nastiness and seeing a mirror image of Islam.
I totally agree with Pastor Worley and I'm gay. We should remove all the heteros from the Hawaiian Islands and put all the gays and lesbians on them instead... Please send gourmet food.

This incident is both infuriating and depressing. The worst thing is that pastors and ministers like him hold so much authority in their religious communities. They use their positions to convince their congregations that these words of hate are morally correct. Which is why I dissociated from Christianity. Too often, self-righteous religious leaders use their power to promote actions that go against the core values of their religion and religious texts. Obviously there are also some wonderful and incredible ministers and pastors that adhere to the Bible without preaching hate and serve as a shining example of the good Christianity can do. But men like Pastor Worley (and the Catholic priests that were found to have molested children) taint the Bible's message and the religion itself.
We now know christians are BS, thanks to this evil man and Pastor Long Dong.

Gays are terrible resilient and adaptive. This fenced in area would be rocking with talent and creativity. This highly educated group would turn that fenced in pasture into something grand in no time flat. Gays have been fenced in once before by the Nazi's. When the Jews were freed, the Americans left the gays there because the Germans convinced them that they were just common criminals to the moral code.

Perhaps it is a start, but so many Christians just say, "That's why I'm not a Baptist... my Presbyterian, Methodist, 1st Congregational [fill in any other of the 38,000 denominations] are not like that".

I don't think he thought this plan through. He said that he would separate the gay men from the lesbians so that they wouldn't reproduce. Does he not know what gay is? The gay men would never touch the women and the women wouldn't dream of touching the men. Hence the word: gay!
