Same-sex ceremony on Army post draws fireBy Alan Duke, CNN (CNN) - A same-sex ceremony between an enlisted woman and a civilian woman on a U.S. Army post last month drew protests from lawmakers Thursday. The "private religious ceremony" took place at Fort Polk in Louisiana in May, post spokesman Scott Stearns said, but he would confirm few other details. Rep. John Fleming, a Louisiana Republican whose congressional district includes the Army post, said the military confirmed to him that the same-sex ceremony was performed by an Army chaplain in the chapel. The incident was an inevitable consequence of the end of the don't ask, don't tell policy in September, which previously banned homosexuals from military service, Fleming said. FULL STORY

Like many Christians and followers of the Abrahamic "revealed" religions, Deanna Laney falsely believed God ordered Abraham to kill his only son because he, God, wanted to know if he, Abraham, had enough faith in God to do it. However, the Bible, at Genesis 22:12, claims the reason the Bible god gave this order to Abraham was to know if Abraham feared him, God, enough to do it. As any rational mere human mind knows, this type of behavior on the part of the Bible god and on the part of Abraham is insane. Thankfully, it is proof that God, the Supreme Intelligence, or, as is described in the Declaration of Independence, Nature's God, had and has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Bible! Sadly, in the case of Deanna Laney, she religiously murdered two of her children, Luke age six and Joshua age eight, and had caused severe brain damage to 14 month old Aaron. She committed these Bible inspired evil and unnatural acts by smashing her little boys' heads with heavy stones.

The problem with most religious people is they don't know what's in their own bible. They rely on the "teachings" of their preachers/priests to lie to them and tell them what to believe. For instance, if any Christian were to sit down and seriously read the four gospels, they would instantly see that there are three Jesus'. Look at the headline today – A law that defines marriage as between a man and a woman was found unconstitutional by a federal judge in New York on Wednesday 6/6/2012 because it improperly interferes with states' rights to regulate marriage.
The ruling by Manhattan federal court judge Barbara Jones followed a decision last week by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit in Boston that concluded the Defense of Marriage Act discriminates against gay couples.
Judge Jones became the fifth judge to find the 1996 law unconstitutional, adding weight to the demands of law makers and activists who want the law repealed.

It is a HUMAN RIGHT, it is not a religous rite, or even a religious right; no one can legally get married without the State's approval, but ANYONE (well, except gays) can marry without the church's approval. It is measured individually, and I KNOW committed gay couples who claim to be as happy in their relationship as I am in mine. Now, do I call them liars simply because I can not "measure" their happiness?
And do I deny them the Civil Right to seek their own definition of happiness simply because they are different than I am? Or because someone like you does not agree with their lifestyle? My guess is they don't understand or agree with YOUR lifestyle, does that give them the right to deny you some civil right? If they don't want Army chaplains performing weddings, I guess they'd better get rid of these chaplains who are operating in violation of the First Amendment anyway. The government has no business allowing government-sponsored religious activities of any sort or paying for a priest to proselytize the troops who have no choice but to follow orders. They are a captive audience and have no rights to a personal chaplain following them around all the time even into combat.
But I laugh at this dilemma they have caused through violating the Constiitution in the first place! LOL

No no no the military has all kinds of chaplains. Wiccans, muslim, etc. It's tough in there and I saw a lot of people lean on their faith pretty hard having chaplains is a good thing. There are rules about what's considered a religion but they're pretty much treated like guidelines, if there is a justifiable demand they'll give you a number of chaplains for your faith accordingly. I even used the chaplain from time to time, tears streaming down my face, a few kind words here and there, an ear to talk to, he asked me if it was ok to pray for me. Sure dude, I don't think it'll help but if you think so, go ahead, thanks man.
On the other hand the stuff religious zealots are doing to our country, I'm not pleased with it. If all sins are equal in the eyes of god then why do you care so much about what gays do if your own human faults make you just as guilty? I don't see Christians outside mcdonalds protesting gluttony and the defilement of the body made in god's image.
